IGNITION KEY IS LOCATED IN A DANGEROUS LOCATION WHEREAS THE DRIVER'S KNEE CAN BUMP INTO THE KEY WHILE DRIVING, WHICH THEN STALLS THE VEHICLE AND LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL, CREATING AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE CAR WHILE ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. *TR
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (FIRST TIME WAS SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THE SECOND WAS WITHIN THE LAST WEEK OR TWO), MY JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED WHILE COMING TO A STOP WITH LIGHT BRAKING (ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING). I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT FROM TIME TO TIME WHILE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT (IN DRIVE WITH BRAKES APPLIED) THE ENGINE SEEMS TO HESITATE AND ALMOST SHUTS OFF. ALSO, AT VARIOUS TIMES, THERE HAS BEEN NOTICEABLE HESITATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STANDSTILL OR ROLLING STOP (5-10MPH). PROBLEMS SEEM TO BE RELATED. I USE ONLY "NAME BRAND" 89 OCTANE FUEL (MFG. RECOMMENDATION). *TR
I FIRST NOTICED MY CAR'S ENGINE DYING OUT APPROX. 2 MO. AFTER PURCHASING IT. IT HAPPENED AT A RED LIGHT, AND I STARTED IT RIGHT BACK UP, AND THOUGHT NOTHING MUCH OF IT. THE ENGINE WOULD PUTTER AT RED LIGHTS (3 TIMES OVER TIME). THIS PAST TUESDAY NIGHT, I LEFT THE GROCERY STORE, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 20 MPH, NO MATTER HOW I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY EMERGENCY BLINKERS AND TAKE THE ACCESS ROAD HOME. I T WAS NIGHT, AND I DID'T WANT TO BE HIT OR REAR ENDED. I FEEL SO DISGUSTED, AND ANGRY, BECAUSE I JUST PURCHASED IT THIS PAST SUMMER ON JULY 7, 2007.IT HAS ONLY APPROX 6,000 MILES . THIS ISN'T NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT THE DEATHS ON THE JEEP COMMANDERS, WHERE THE CAR ENGINE AND ALL ITS LIGHTS WILL SUDDENLY TURN OFF, WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. I DON'T WANT MY CAR ANYMORE,I DON'T WANT TO BE A STATISTIC. THE CAR SEEMED NORMAL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. I AM DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK ON THE ACCESS ROADS. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOCAL DEALER HERE IS THAT IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE THEIR EYES, THEY WILL WRITE A COMPUTER PRINT OUT THAT STATES "NOTHING WRONG FOUND", AND SEND YOU AWAY. I SPOKE TO THE GENERAL MGR. JACK DUNN, AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION HE TOLD ME I HAD PROBABLY PUMPED SOME DIRTY GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE, BECAUSE HE KNEW OF THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED TO ME WITH OTHER CARS. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD NEVER LET THE GASOLINE TANK GO LOWER THAN HALF-FULL. I PLAN TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER THIS FRIDAY. *TR
I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, AND DURING THE FIRST RAIN THAT WE GOT THE FRONT PASSENGER CABIN AREA WAS FLOODED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH OTHER JEEP COMMANDERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THAT THEY HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE TO OBTAIN ADVICE FROM THEM WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. AS OF THE LAST RAINS THAT WE RECEIVED IN FEBRUARY OF 2008 I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH WATER ENTERING SOME WERE THROUGH THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE AND LEAKING DOWN INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AREA. MY CURRENT MILEAGE 4,000. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH V6 ENGINE. CAR HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC NUMEROUS TIMES, AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS NOW AT THE DEALER FOR THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME FOR STALLING. EACH TIME, THEY CLAIM SOMETHING DIFFERENT WAS THE ROOT CAUSE. I AM CONVINCED THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THEREFORE THEY CANNOT POSSIBLY FIX IT. *TR
WHEN CAR IS DRIVEN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND YOU EXIT AND SLOW DOWN THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND THEN START BACK UP ITSELF. THE CAR IS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH THE 5.7L ENGINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND CONTINUED IN NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO RESET THE ELECTRONIC SENSORS. RECENTLY, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
NEW 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 2,500 MILES PURCHASED 3 MONTHS AGO, POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. JEEP IN FOR REPAIR OVER 30 DAYS AND NO SOLUTION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS DURING DECELERATION AS WELL AS AROUND TURNS. VEHICLE THEN LOSES POWER STEERING AND MUST BE RESTARTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

RESEARCHING RECALLS OR COMMON MECHANICAL PROBLEMS THROUGH THE INTERNET, WILL SCHEDULE FOR SERVICE AT JEEP DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER EIGHT TIMES FOR THE SIMILAR DEFECT. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY A SPECIALIZED TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN DETECTED SEVERAL TROUBLE CODES AND CONTINUED INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE. MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED ON ME ABOUT 7 TIMES SO FAR, FOUR OF WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. IT ALSO ACCELERATES WHILE DRIVING AT ONE SPEED TO A FASTER SPEED, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE A REAR END ACCIDENT! BUT THE WORST OF IT ALL IS WHEN I AM SITTING AT A LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR WILL JERK FORWARD, AGAIN, ALMOST CAUSING A REAR END ACCIDENT(MIND YOU MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE BRAKE WHEN THIS HAPPENS!) FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTION IS INSUFFICIENT CAUSING SEAT BELTS TO BE CAUGHT BETWEEN DOOR LOCK MECHANISM WHEN CLOSING DOOR WHEN EXITING VEHICLE DAMAGING SEAT BELT WEBBING. DOOR WILL NOT PROPERLY CLOSE OR LOCK AND VEHICLE MAY BE AT RISK FOR THEFT. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER N AUGUEST OF 2007. EVERY SINCE OCTOBER, MY TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES STALL OUT ON MY WHEN I'M AT A RED LIGHT OR WHEN I IN IDLE WITH THE CAR RUNNING. I THEN HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN CAR OFF, AND THEN RE START CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, AND I HAVE NEARLY AVOIDED BEING IN AN ACCIDENTS. I HAVE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO REPORT THE PROBLME, THEY CLAIM THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE NOT HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT TRUE BECAUSE NUMEROUS JEEP OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIUSLY INJURIED OR KILLED. *CN
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER THAT I GOT ON 9/22/07 IT WAS BRAND NEW. MY HUSBAND WENT ON A BUSINESS TRIP (APPROXIMATELY 170 + MILES AWAY FROM HOME) ON MONDAY THE 26TH OF DECEMBER. ON HIS WAY HOME ON THURSDAY THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH CAME ON AND IT WENT DEAD. HE TOOK IT TO THAT DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. THEN LAST FRIDAY ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 65 MILES AN HOUR WHICH HE WAS TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE AND ENDED UP IN SOMEONE'S FRONT YARD!! WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. LAST NIGHT WE LEFT A RESTAURANT AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN SO I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP RIGHT THEN. *TR
WE HAVE AN 07 JEEP COMMANDER THAT HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ON THE FIRST OCCASION THE COMMANDER HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR 20 - 30 MINUTES WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE IT JUST STALLED. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR OVER 45 MINUTES WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT THE CALLED STALLED. AFTER BOTH INCIDENTS THE COMANDER WOULD NOT START BACK UP IMMEDIATELY. IN BOTH CASES WE NARROWLY MISSED GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT FROM THE CARS BEHIND US. MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER - WE HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD AND THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE FOR THEM TO BE IN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS BOTH SAID THE COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS BOTH SAID THAT NO CODES WERE THROWN SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS PUTTING 100 MILES ON IT AND NOTHING CAME OF IT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIGURE THIS OUT BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *CN
THE TOTAL OCCURRENCES INCLUDE SEVEN INCIDENTS OF ENGINE STALLING TO DATE, THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT ON OR AROUND DECEMBER 26TH, 2007. FIVE INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE MY LEASED 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WAS IDLING IN PARK. TWO OF THE ENGINE STALLS OCCURRED WHILE ACTUALLY DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE DECEMBER 17TH, 2007 INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING UPWARDS OF 50MPH. I WAS FORCED TO PUT MY EMERGENCY BRAKES ON, CHANGE TO NEUTRAL, AND RESTART THE ENGINE WHILE MY CAR WAS MOVING AT A HIGH SPEED ON JUST ITS MOMENTUM. THERE WAS A RISK OF A NEAR ACCIDENT WITH BOTH THE CAR TO MY SIDE AND BEHIND ME. I ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THIS INSTABILITY BY TAKING THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALERSHIP I LEASED IT FROM. I WAS GIVEN TWO UNREASONABLE OPTIONS BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AFTER HAVING LEFT MY VEHICLE THERE UNTIL THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS THAT DAY: EITHER LEAVE MY VEHICLE AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WITHOUT BEING GIVEN A LOANER, UNTIL ANOTHER INCIDENT OCCURS WHILE THE CAR WAS HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND ONLY UNTIL THEN WOULD THEY EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT THERE WAS PROBLEM (NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY TAKE WEEKS AND I CAN'T DO WITHOUT A CAR FOR THAT TIME) OR TAKE MY CAR BACK AND RISK HAVING IT HAPPEN AGAIN WITH MORE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. SO, IN SHORT, SINCE I WAS SENT OFF WITHOUT RECOGNITION BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT A PROBLEM EXISTED I WAS LEFT WITHOUT ANY POSSIBLE CORRECTIVE MEASURES I COULD THINK OF. *TR
I DRIVE A JEEP COMMANDER AND THE THIRD ROW SEAT BELT HAS BEEN BROKEN SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT PULL OUT TO BUCKLE UP MY CHILD, THE DEALER SAYS THE SEAT IS NOT LINING UP WITH THE VEHICLE... *TR
WE WERE ON OUR WAY OUT AND ON THE ROAD AND THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT WANT TO MOVE. IT DID NOT WANT TO TURN RIGHT OR LEFT. IT WOULD JUST GO STRAIGHT. WE ACTUALLY ALMOST LANDED IN THE DITCH AS WELL AS ALMOST HITTING A TRUCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT. OUR JEEP COMMANDER IS BRAND NEW AND ONLY HAS 700 OR SO MILES ON IT. WE HAD PURCHASED IT LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AGO. SO, OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN OUT OF COMMISSION SINCE DEC. 2ND, 2007. I DID CALL OUR DEALER FROM WHICH WE PURCHASED IT FROM, SINCE THEY ARE LOCATED IN WA AND WE LIVE IN AK. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE SITUATION. I ALSO CALLED THE JEEP CORPORATION AND THEY ARE AWARE AS WELL. I DID CALL OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPT. THEIR EARLIEST APPT IS DEC. 17TH, 2007. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE COST US OUR LIVES. *TR
ON APPROXIMATELY 6 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, THE VEHICLE HAS UNEXPECTEDLY JUST SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS SO YOU CAN'T STEER AND IT IS VERY SCARY. ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS RIDING WITH ME ON ONE OCCASION. I AM NOW READING ONLINE OF MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS CAR WHO HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, BUT I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR. DEALER ALSO INDICATED THEY ARE NOT GETTING A LOT OF COOPERATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON THIS ONE (AS INTERNET ENTRIES FROM OTHERS INDICATE AS WELL). THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT ALSO HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON I-75 AT ABOUT 70 MPH. AGAIN, THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS OFF AND YOU CAN'T STEER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER PURCHASED BRAND NEW. SHE STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OF ANYWHERE OVER 10MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HER LOCAL DEALER WHERE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED DUE TO THE COLD TEMPERATURES, THE VEHICLE COMPUTER WOULD ERASE THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES THAT WERE NEEDED IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE STILL MANAGED TO STOP, EVEN THOUGH THE PEDAL DROPPED. THERE WAS NO FUEL LEAKAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE LOCKING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V493000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE). THE VEHICLE REACHES 11 MILES PER GALLON. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,600.
THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED 2 TIMES AND STALLED 3 WHILE DRIVING. MY CHILDREN WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE IT WAS SCARY. *TR
VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT AND ALREADY HAVE A ROCK CHIP IN FRONT WINDSHIELD. HAPPENED WHEN ROADS WERE CLEAR AND NO GRAVEL ON ROAD. HAVE SEEN MESSAGE BOARDS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO STATE THEIR FRONT WINDSHIELDS ARE PRONE TO CHIPS AS WELL. *TR

ON TWO OCCASIONS THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND THE SECOND TIME THEY UPDATED THE COMPUTER. TWENTY MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER THE SHAKING AND RATTLING RECURRED AND HAS CONTINUED TO BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,200. UPDATED 5/14/09 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR, IT JAMMED TO THE FLOOR. AFTER THE FIRST RAINS IN OCTOBER, 2007 THE JEEP CABIN WAS FLOODED WITH RAIN WATER ENTERING THE CABIN VIA THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT PILLARS. THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE LEAKING AND SENT US AWAY. THE CABIN FLOODED AGAIN FOLLOWING THE NEXT RAIN STORM. THIS TIME DEALER REPLACED MOON ROOF GUTTER/DRAIN ON PASSENGER SIDE. NEXT RAIN STORM FLOODING AGAIN AND DEALER REPLACED MOON ROOF GUTTER/DRAIN ON THE DRIVER SIDE. UPON RETURN FROM THE DEALER ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING SUCH AS INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS, AUTOMATIC HEADLAMPS, INTERMITTENT WIPER FUNCTIONS, ETC. I SUSPECT THE DELUGE OF WATER FROM THE CABIN FLOODING IS NOW AFFECTING THE ELECTRONICS IN THE DASH, HEADLINER, CENTER CONSOLE AND DOORS. WE HAVE PETITIONED DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORPORATION UNDER THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAWS, BUT WE NO HAVE NO RESPONSE AS OF YET. *TR

WHEN I BOUGHT MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 2 YEARS AGO, A PROBLEM OCCURRED 2 MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE CAR, WHERE IT WOULD SLOW DOWN WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT A FAST SPEED. THIS ONLY OCCURRED ONCE, SO I LET IT SLIDE; HOWEVER, THIS RECENTLY STARTED BECOMING A FREQUENT PROBLEM. THERE ARE EVEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE ENGINE JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY KIDS' SAFETY. THERE WAS EVEN A TIME WHEN A CAR ALMOST CRASHED INTO ME BECAUSE THE STOP WAS SO SUDDEN. THE PROBLEM RANGES FROM MY CAR JUST SLOWING DOWN AUTOMATICALLY TO COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. THE ENGINE ALSO STARTS SHAKING WHICH ENDS UP SHAKING MY ENTIRE CAR. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS HAPPENING, BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT IS NOT SAFE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM 1 YEAR AGO, BUT THEY ONLY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD NOT WORRY. I THEN RECENTLY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WAS BECOMING GRADUALLY WORSE, AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 1000 DOLLARS FOR DAMAGES THAT THEY WERE NOT EVEN SURE ABOUT. I DID NOT FIND THIS TO BE JUST BECAUSE I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS NOT MY FAULT. I RESEARCHED ONLINE THAT THE FEDS ARE ACTUALLY INVOLVED WITH ENGINE STALL PROBLEMS FOR JEEP COMMANDERS BECAUSE MORE THAN 135,000 PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT AS I DO. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. SO FAR, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY SIGNIFICANT HELP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF 30-40 MPH, OUR 2007 JEEP COMMANDER SUDDENLY LOST POWER, SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE AND POWER STEERING. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE, TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN APPROX. 25 MINUTES LATER. I AM 4 1/2 MONTHS PREGNANT WITH TWINS AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. IT RAINS A LOT IN ALASKA, SO BASICALLY OUR CAR LEAKS ABOUT EVERYDAY! WE HAD TAKEN OUR VEHICLE INTO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND ONE DEALER SAID HE COULD NOT FIND WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM AND THE OTHER DEALER SAID TO BRING IT BACK IN THE SUMMER BECAUSE IT IS FROZEN OUTSIDE, SINCE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AROUND OCTOBER! I CAN'T BELIEVE A CAR THAT IS BRAND NEW HAS LEAKS! I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT ANOTHER PERSON HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SIDE RAIL LEAKS, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY CAR! MAYBE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

I COMPLETED A RECALL (14V-438 RECALL DATE: SEPTEMBER 3, 2014 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: P41) UNDERSTANDING THAT MY PROBLEM WOULD END. THE IGNITION KEY RECALL WORK: WHEN I INSERT THE KEY TO THE IGNITION, IT TAKES AN EFFORT TO PUSH AND TURN THE IGNITION KEY. 1) I AM AFRAID THE KEY WILL BREAK OFF AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. 2) I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE LIGHT FLICKERING AND ELECTRIC PANEL SHUTDOWN (ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT PANEL SEEMS TO BE DISCONNECTED FROM ENGINE PERFORMANCE AT THIS POINT) 3) MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WITH FOOT ON BRAKES ONLY WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOPPED AND MAKING TURNS, OR STOPPED ON "P- PARK" WITH ENGINE IDLING JOLTIN MY HEAD/BODY (TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH IT IS FELT).
I AM GUESSING IT IS "ELECTRICAL". SINCE NEW (2007), THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PROBLEM WITH INTERMITTENT STARTING. RANDOM, UNPREDICTABLE. TURN KEY TO START, NOTHING HAPPENS, NO CLICK, NOTHING. THERE IS POWER IN ACC POSITION (LIGHTS, DASH, ETC OK). WHEN IT HAPPENS, HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WIGGLE GEAR SHIFTER, PUT IT INTO PARK MULTIPLE TIMES, PUSH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WIGGLE SHIFTER MORE.. THEN USUALLY IT STARTS. HAVE ALSO TRIED IT IN NEUTRAL, AND IT STARTED IN NEUTRAL (NOT SAFE). DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT MULTIPLE TMES HAS BEEN UNABLE TO ROOT CAUSE IT OR PERMANENTLY FIX IT. DANGER OF LEAVING OLDER FEMALE DRIVER STRANDED AS IT HAS IN PARKING GARAGES, ETC. ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONFIDENTLY START A VEHICLE THAT HAS NO OTHER PROBLEMS AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. TO STAY WHEN IT HAPPENED - NOT A ONE TIME THING. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIME OVER THE YEARS, STARTING BACK IN 2007 WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

EVERY THING APPEARED TO BE NORMAL DURING THESE OCCURRENCES -- NO WARNING LIGHTS OR BEEPS. WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I RETURNED FROM THE TRIP, WE TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER. THEY KEPT THE JEEP 6 DAYS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REP. SAID THE ENGINEERS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THAT EVERY THING CHECKED OUT OKAY. THE REP DID SAY THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DO NOT HAVE A FIX, HOWEVER HE WAS ADVISED TO RELEASE THE JEEP TO US. WE OBJECTED TO TAKING THE JEEP AND THE DEALER WORKED OUT AN ACCEPTABLE DEAL ON ANOTHER MODEL. WE BOUGHT THE JEEP NEW, 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. *JB
BRAKES FAILED TWICE SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE IN APRIL. ONCE WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AND ONCE WITH ME WHICH I WILL DESCRIBE HERE: DRIVING UPHILL AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND TRAFFIC LIGHT AT TOP OF HILL TURNED RED. REMOVED RIGHT FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR AND PUSHED ON BRAKE PEDAL. THE PEDAL FELT VERY STIFF AND DID NOT TRAVEL THE NORMAL DISTANCE. BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD I PRESSED ON PEDAL.
