THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AFTERWARDS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,946.
THE 3RD ROW SEATING BUCKLES IN OUR JEEP COMMANDER BEGAN TO STICK ABOUT 6MOS AFTER PURCHASE. WE NOTICED THE BUCKLE WOULD STICK UNDER THE 3RD ROW SEATING AND THEN THE BUCKLE WOULD NO LONGER UNLATCH AT TIMES. THE BELT WOULD LATCH INTO THE BUCKLE, BUT WOULD GET STUCK INSIDE EVEN WHILE PUSHING THE RELEASE BUTTON. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER THE BUCKLE STICKING THE BUCKLE WOULD ALSO UNLATCH AT ANYTIME WITHOUT PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON (WHILE MOVING AND WHILE STATIONARY). DURING THIS TIME THE BUCKLE WAS UNSTABLE AND WE CHOSE TO USE THE PASSENGER SIDE FOR THE MAJORITY OF CAR RIDES, BUT AS WE HAVE A LARGE FAMILY USE OF THE BELT WAS NECESSARY. AT ONE POINT THE BUCKLE BECAME STUCK WHILE MY SON WAS RESTRAINED BY THE BELT. WE HAD TO PRY THE BELT OUT OF THE BUCKLE. FROM THIS POINT ON THE BUCKLE WOULD NO LONGER LATCH. A FEW MONTHS LATER WE NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE WOULD RELEASE AT ANY TIME, (MOBILE OR STATIONARY). THE BUCKLE WOULD ALSO STICK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE AT TIMES. IT APPEARS THE PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE IS NOW UNSAFE AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THE DRIVER SIDE BUCKLE CAUSED. THE 3RD ROW SEATING IS ATTACHED TO THE BUCKLES IN A WAY IT SEEMS TO CAUSE THESE ISSUES WITH THE BUCKLE. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE FORUMS AND COMPLAINT SITES. THE BUCKLES ARE FAILING DUE TO FAULTY MANUFACTURING. THE 3RD ROW SEATING CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE BUCKLES. OVER TIME THESE BUCKLES NEED REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE BUCKLE RELEASES WITHOUT BEING RELEASED AND WILL CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THE BUCKLE RELEASE WILL STICK AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN PASSENGER WOULD NEED REMOVED. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND REPLACED IN ALL 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 3RD ROW SEATS. THIS ISSUE WILL CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
THE COMMANDER HAS AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT THAT PREVENTS THE CAR FROM STARTING. WE HAVE TRACED IT BACK TO THE ALTERNATOR WIRE. IT'S THE DESIGN OF THE WIRING THAT'S CAUSING A DEFECT. WHEN I RESEARCH IT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MOST COMMANDER OWNER'S DEAL WITH. THERE'S NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. JEEP FIAT CHRYSLER HAVE NEVER ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM. WE'VE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TWICE NOW IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.
ALL LIGHT FLASH OFF AND ON RANDOMLY SOMETIMES LEAVING THE GAUGES AND AC NOT WORKING THEN RETURN AND LEAVE THE EAS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. PULLING THE CODE REVEAL A U1403 AND U1411 CODE. WHEN BUMPS ARE HIT OR THE AC IS ON THE LIGHTS FLASH AND SOMETIME WIGGLING THE IGNITION SWITCH STOPS THE FLASHING OTHER TIMES IT IS RANDOM AND SOMETIME MORE SPORADIC, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM THE CAR IGNITION CAN BE SHUT OFF AND THE RESTARTED SOMETIMES IT STOPS THE TROUBLE..
WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 70MPH IN MIDDLE LANE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CHIMES THAT PRECEDED THE EVENT. AFTER PULLING OVER AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE JEEP STARTED NORMALLY. THE KEY RING ONLY HAD THE JEEP KEY AND THE VALET KEY, AND I FAR AWAY FROM THE DASHBOARD.
MY VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC CAUSING ME TO ALMOST GET HIT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I COULD DO NOTHING BUT COAST AND BRAKE. ALL GEARS BECAME HIGHLIGHTED WHICH WERE NOT PREVIOUSLY. I AM WORRIED IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN I WILL BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ENCOUNTER AMONG JEEP OWNERS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE JEEP, THE ENGINE KEEPS TURNING OVER WHILE THE MOTOR WILL NOT START. DOES IT RANDOMLY.
JEEP COMPLAINT CASE # 31436177. I AM HAVING A NO CRANK NO START ISSUE WITH BOGUS ERROR MESSAGE THAT READS TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT PLACES AND NO ONE CAN IDENTIFY WHY THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START OR FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION OR WIRING....... THAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THE JEEP STARTED HAVING THIS ISSUE INTERMITTENTLY IN FEBRUARY 2017 AND NOW IT WILL NOT START AT ALL AS OF APRIL 2017. ELECTRICAL MECHANIC IS BAFFLED AND CAN NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG WITH THE JEEP EVEN THOUGH IT DOES NOT START AT ALL ANYMORE. SINCE FEBRUARY 2017 AFTER THIS ISSUE STARTED I HAVE HAD THE COMPUTER UPDATED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AND TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED OUT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND STILL THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START INTERMITTENTLY AND NOW WILL NOT START AT ALL AS OF A WEEK AND A HALF AGO. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE THE KEY NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE JEEP AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BUT THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE EITHER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE EITHER. I ALSO HAD THE WIRING HARNESS CATCH FIRE INSIDE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BOOT SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THAT CAUSED WINDOWS, LOCKS....... NOT TO FUNCTION AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH WATER POURING IN FROM DRAINS FROM THE SUNROOF FLOODING THE VEHICLE AND RUINING THE CARPET ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ALSO CAUSING A MOLD SMELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER THE SECOND TIME WHERE THE BATTERY WIRES AND CABLES WERE CONNECTED TOGETHER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER HAVING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) REMEDIED AT THE DARCARS DEALER, THE IGNITION KEY BATTERY EXPERIENCED AN EXCESSIVE LOSS OF POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE WITH THE KEY THEY MADE AN ADDITIONAL COPY AND WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WITHOUT IT BEING PROGRAMMED IN TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
WHEN DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN, WHEN IT HAPPENS THE ENGINE STUMBLES AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON FOR A SECOND AND THEN BACK OFF. IT MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS CONDITION. NO CODES COME UP THOUGH. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PUT A NEW IGNITION KEY SWITCH IN BUT IT STILL HAS THE PROBLEM, THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALLS
FIRST MY GAUGE CLUSTER JUST GOES CRAZY PARKED OR EVEN WHILE DRIVING IT. NOW I JUST DROVE IT DOWN THE ROAD AND IT IS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR WILL NOT GO INTO ANY OTHER GEAR!

MY 2007 COMMANDER HAS A P41 RECALL. FRI.DEC 9,2016 ,THE WOLFCHASE JEEP TECH INFORMED ME THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, BUT CAR STILL WILL NOT START. THE TECH TOLD ME THE JEEP NEEDED A ORC MODULE TO START THE JEEP. PART NOT AVAILABLE AND NEEDED 3-5 DAYS TO ORDER AND REPAIR. MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE WILL BE $510-$520. THE JEEP WAS PARKED ON SAT. DEC 9. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE JEEP, WOULD NOT START.PLEASE ADVISE. THANKS
THE U-JOINTS ARE WORN AND THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT JOINTS. IT IS A DEALER ITEM AND NEED TO GET A NEW DRIVE SHAFT FOR THE FRONT AND REAR ON A 4X4 JEEP COMMANDER.YOU NOTICE THE VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN DIFFERENT SPEEDS DUE TO THE BAD U-JOINTS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,022.
FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW I INTERMITTENTLY RECEIVE A "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" MESSAGE IN MY DASH AND THE CAR WON'T START FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS LATER. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER A GOOD RAIN. I WILL DRIVE TO SOMEWHERE AND THEN PARK FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHEN I TRY TO START THE VEHICLE, IT DOESN'T START UNTIL ABOUT 24 HOURS LATER. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AUTO SHOPS WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A CLUE HOW TO FIX THIS. RIGHT NOW THE VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE AS IF I GO SOMEWHERE THERE IS A RISK THAT I WILL BE STRANDED.
MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER IS STALLING AND SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING REGARDLESS OF SPEED. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD THOUGH ARE UNSURE IF THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION GIVING NO WARNING SIGNS (THE WIPERS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY 2 DAYS PRIOR). THE WIPER SWITCH AND "MIST FUNCTION" ARE BOTH INOPERATIVE WHILE THE WHILE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP FUNCTIONS NORMALLY.

THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON CLOSE TO MY HOME I CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND WHEN I OPEN THE HOOD THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING AND SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING IT WAS SO HARD IT ALMOST CAUGHT ON FIRE THERE WAS NO FLAME BUT THERE WAS LOTS OF SMOKE

AFTER THE REPAIR AND DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH CAUSED THE FINAL DRIVE MODULE TO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FINAL DRIVE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED A CASE REGARDING THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, A DECISION OF THE REPAIR WAS NOT FINALIZED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.

2007 COMMANDER WITH 5.7 CAR HAS LOSS ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, ON HIGHWAYS ON CITY STREETS. THE CENTER DISPLAY GOES BLANK, DASH LIGHTS GO OFF, THE ENGINE SOUNDS TO BE IDLING WHEN IT LOSES POWER, BUT THERE IS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, THEN IT WILL REGAIN ELECTRICAL AFTER COASTING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS ALSO LOSS POWER AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE ENGINE DIED IT WOULD NOT POWER ANYTHING ON, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK, AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES CYCLING THE IGNITION THE DASH LIGHTS TURNED ON AND WAS ABLE TO START IT. JUST RECENTLY LOSS ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED FOR A COUPLE SECONDS WENT OFF AND BACK ON, EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL, THE RADIO JUST WOULD NOT TURN ON IT WAS JUST A BLACK SCREEN EVENTUALLY IT STARTED TO FUNCTION.

THE JEEP WILL NOT START AND LEFT US STRANDED 30 MILES FROM HOME. I HAD TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE IC LIGHT UP AND IT MAKES A CLICKING SOUND BUT WON'T TURN OVER. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD STARTER BUT AFTER RESEARCHING IT THAT NIGHT I REALIZED IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THEIR COMMANDERS. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME THE NEXT DAY BY QUICKLY TURNING THE KEY FROM THE "OFF" POSITION TO "START" RAPIDLY. IT STARTED AFTER 15-20 TRIES OF THIS MOVEMENT. NOW THAT IT IS HOME, I WAS ABLE TO START IT ONCE EACH DAY SINCE THE INITIAL ISSUE. BUT NOW, I AM UNABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN. COULD BE THE WCM, STARTER HARNESS, SENTRY KEY MODULE, ETC. REGARDLESS, IT IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AMONGST JEEP COMMANDER OWNERS AND SOMETHING I THINK JEEP NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF. I UNDERSTAND THIS ISN'T SPECIFICALLY A SAFETY ISSUE BUT IT COULD BE IF MY WIFE AND 11 MONTH OLD ARE LEFT STRANDED SOMEWHERE BECAUSE THE JEEP DECIDES IT DOESN'T WANT TO START.

IT IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO US WHEN ON A HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND WE HAVE OUR CHILD WITH US. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A PART OF THE LATEST RECALL WE RECEIVED IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE KEY IGNITION. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I STARTING LOSING POWER, TACHOMETER STARTING GOING DOWN AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND SIGNIFICANTLY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ON IT, THE SPEED CONTINUED TO GO DOWN AS I WAS TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AS FAST AS I COULD BUT WITH AN UNRESPONSIVE ENGINE IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. IT WAS ALSO DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AS THIS GOT HARDEN. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER WAITING 10-15 MINUTES, I TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS NOT FAR FROM WHERE I HAD TO PULL OVER. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND I'M AFRAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN NEXT TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHICH IS EVERY DAY. THIS WAS NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AT ALL AND IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN YOU ARE ON A HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN HAVE NO CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE, IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE AT ALL. MY STORY IS THE FDCM WAS UPDATED WITH THE P73 UPDATE AT A DEALERSHIP IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS, I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TWICE BECAUSE THE SERVICE 4WD DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THE UPDATE. THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE UPDATE. I LIVE IN ALABAMA AND NOW I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRANSFER CASE IS WORN OUT. I BELIVE THEY ONLY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WORK ON IT.
