The vehicle stalled when waiting for lights and at low speed turning after the fuel tank was filled up. Multiple incidents had happened. No warning sign before the incident happened. Very dangerous because the vehicle stalled in moving traffic suddenly. Also, there was a gasoline smell near the vehicle when parked. Several mechanics tried to find the issue but failed.
I bought this vehicle in nov of 2021 took it to local mechanic who quoted me 1000 to fix it completely so I did a little at a time the suspension control arms and rockers completely bad! Now the vehicle only has130000 miles on it and the CVT worst transmission ever is going out which is 5000 to fix I can’t believe there is no recall knowing these vehicles have and are know for bad transmissions so now I am not only out a vehicle I am out the money I spent on buying this vehicle not to mention what I have spent to fix it!
Front and Rear Crossmember Corrosion (X69 Warranty Extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep Compass/Patriot- NHTSA ID # 10140027 My Daughter was recently given a 2008 Jeep Compass by a family member for her 16th birthday. We took it to our local Auto serviceman who checked the car out, and made us aware of the Warranty Extension b/c the Font Crossmembers are rusted out. We live in Ohio and would qualify for the Warranty, yet the car is past the 10 year timeframe. Other than this issue, the car is in great shape, only 85K miles. I contacted the dealership and Chrysler about the issue, and both said they would not honor the warranty. My questions are, is there anything else I can do, and if this is done as an extended warranty, are all customers formally notified? Why would the dealership not ever recommend the fix if they serviced the car, which according to this family member, never happened? There has been no accident, but the car rattles a little when driven, so I want to fix it before something does happen.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT AFTER FILLING GAS TANK WITH FUEL. IT STALLS WHILE IDLING IN PARK AND IT STALLS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND WHEN STOPPED WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. AFTER ROME ONLINE SEARCHING, THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK NOT STOPPING THE CHARCOAL FILTER FROM BEING FLOODED WITH FUEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE MONTH SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT LAST HAPPENED ON 09/10/2020
I BOUGHT A USED VEHICLE FROM A SMALL PRIVATE USED DEALERSHIP IN LAS VEGAS NV BELIEVING IT HAD 134000 MILES WHEN IN REALITY THEY KNEW THAT WAS NOT THE REAL MILEAGE IT HAS OVER 172,000 CANT GET MY MONEY BACK CZ THEY SAY I BOUGHT IT HAS IS THEY TAMPER WITH THE ODOMETER AND LIE TO ME I WAS RECENTLY AWARE WHEN I GOT INSURANCE FROM GEICO IT WAS THERE WHEN I SAW THE TRUTH ABOUT THE VEHICLE TRUE HISTORY AND ODOMETER THE DEALERSHIP NAME IS EMPORIO AUTO SALES LOCATED 2685 N NELLIS BLVD, LAS VEGAS, NV 89115. *TR
MY SUBFRAME HAS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. MY LOCAL DEALER INFORMED ME IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I SEE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WHICH IS WHY YOU EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT NOBODY INFORMED US ABOUT IT! THE DESIGN OF THIS MODEL IS FLAWED; THE PARTS ARE INFERIOR FOR A SNOWBELT STATE AND TO TOP IT OFF THE EXHAUST FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAKS DIRECTLY ON THE FRONT SUBFRAME. 3 SEPARATE MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED; I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS YOU KNOW ARE NO GOOD. PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE GOING TO STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCTS! WE OWN A COMPANY AND HAVE SEVERAL JEEP VEHICLES BUT IF THIS IS NOT FIXED WE WILL BE TRADING THEM ALL IN AND WILL MOVE TO ANOTHER VENDOR WHO WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND WANTS TO KEEP THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFE! EVEN THE LOCAL DEALER SAID THIS WAS RIDICULOUS AND THAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING A RECALL ON THIS!
BALANCE SHAFT MODULE HAS LEFT METAL IN OUR OIL.IT WENT BAD CAUSING OUR ENGINE TO GO DEAD WHILE WE WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE.
THE JEEP COMPASS 2008 TRUCK WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT TURN ON THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND IT STARTED TO TURN IT OF AND BACK ON UNTIL IT JUST LEFT A SOLID AIRBAG LIGHT. MY VEHICLE HASN'T IN NO ACCIDENTS OR ANY OFF RODE USE. *TR
2008 JEEP PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2010. IN 2019 WITH ONLY 71,000 MILES AND NOW VIISIBLE RUST ON THE VEHICLE, MY MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED THROUGH WITH RUST AND WAS SOFT AND THE SUBFRAME NEEDS REPLACING ($1,750). I CONTACTED FCA (FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILE) AND THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
REAR SUBFRAME RUSTED TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPLACED. CAR HAS ONLY 97000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS NO REASON THAT THE CAR SHOULD BE THIS RUSTED, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE REAR SUBFRAMES, AND ADD ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
T-BONE ACCIDENT - 1 SUV RAN RED LIGHT - HIT JEEP AT CA. 50 MPH ON PASSENGER SIDE, AND HIT OTHER SUV WHICH WAS PARALLEL TO AND LEFT OF JEEP. JEEP TRAVELED AT CA. 20 MP (GREEN LIGHT) AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON JEEP, DID ON OTHER TWO SUVS WHICH WERE BIGGER SUVS - JEEP DRIVER SUSTAINED MANY INJURIES SINCE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY*DT *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK ALL THE WAY UP. THE CAR LOCKED UP STEERING WAS UNCONTRALLOBLE BRAKES WERE LOCKING ON AND OFF LIKE JUMPING AND ALMOST HIT AN ONCOMING CAR. CAR SHUTOFF AND WENT TURN BACK ON UNTIL 5 MINUTES IN WAS IN FULL MOTION GOING 55MPH ON A CITY STREET. SCARIEST TIME I'VE EVER BEEN DRIVING. NOW THAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THERE IS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME INSTANCE HAPPENING TO OTHERS. HAVING TO DO WITH WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS ALL THE WAY FULL. LITERALLY COULD HAVE DIED. SOMEONE WILL GET BADLY INJURED OR DEATH IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED.
AFTER REFUELING WITHIN 1-2 MILES SPITS SPUDERS BUCKS, THEN STALLS! SAFTY IS AT ISSUE OF CAUSING A ACCIDENT OR GETTING HIT!!!! MAKE JEEP ACCOUNTABLE! HAPPENS EVERTIME NOW 6 MOS.
BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR A FRONT END NOISE. MECHANIC DETERMINED MY FRONT AND REAR CROSSMEMBER ESPECIALLY THE FRONT WERE ROTTED OUT WITH HOLES. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CAR COMPANY DATED 2/15/2017 THAT CAR WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED FOR TEN YEARS. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT IDENTIFIED UNTIL 2019 I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY EXPIRED 12/2018. CAR CO. SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I WOULD THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL, QUITE A SAFETY ISSUE WE ARE LEFT TO SUCK IT UP. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS TO LIGHT. I FEEL THE COMPANY IS GETTING AWAY WITH A DANGEROUS EXPENSIVE OOPS.

I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE CROSSMEMBER ON MY 2008 JEEP COMPASS IN THE FRONT DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING STEERING ISSUES WHEN TURNING (LOUD CLUNK SOUND). THE COST IS EXPENSIVE AND I MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR CROSSMEMBER AS WELL. I WAS ALSO UNAWARE OF THIS RECALL AND NEVER CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP TO COME IN FOR REPLACEMENT.

I RECENTLY DISCOVERED WHEN BRINGING MY 2008 JEEP COMPASS TO A MECHANIC THAT MY ENTIRE SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. THE SUBFRAME IS SO ROTTED OUT THAT HE SUGGESTED GETTING IT TOWED HOME BECAUSE THE WHEEL MIGHT COMPLETELY FALL OFF IF I HIT A POT HOLE HARD ENOUGH. THE BODY ON MY JEEP IS NEARLY FLAWLESS AND THE ENGINE ONLY HAS 70,000 ORIGINAL MILES. IS SEE ON OTHER SITES THERE IS A RECALL ON ALL THE COMPASS MODELS LEADING UP TO THE 2007 MODEL DUE TO THE SUBFRAME ROTTING OUT. I HAVE ALSO SEEN THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD WITH THE 2008 MODEL LEAVING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WORTHLESS BEING THAT IT'S TOTALLED. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE SUBFRAME TO BE COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT BUT MY ACTUAL FRAME IS COMPLETELY FINE? I'D REALLY LIKE SOME ANSWERS.
THE SUBFRAME IS ROTTING OUT TO THE POINT IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STILL IS ON. I'M AFRAID THAT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK IF I AM EVER IN AN ACCIDENT.
EVER TIME AFTER YOU FILL THE CAR UP WITH GAS, THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND HESITATE WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION. FOR A MILE OR TWO. AFTER THAT IT WILL RUN FINE UNTIL NEXT FILL UP.
SUB FRAME RUSTED OUT MAKING THE CAR NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND IT WOULD COST $1700 FOR REPAIR. NO NOTICE WAS SENT OUT TO OWNERS; ONLY MECHANICS. NO PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROBLEM. CAR WAS DRIVEN BY MY 82 YEAR OLD MOTHER IN LAW. I AM HER SON IN LAW AND I WAS DRIVING HER CAR TO TAKE HER TO AN APPOINTMENT; AND SUDDENLY IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HANDLE, GOING TO THE RIGHT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, AND WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. SUB FRAME RUST. MY MECHANIC KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM FROM JEEP, BUT RESEARCHING IT ONLINE CONFIRMED WHAT HE TOLD ME. JEEP KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT DID NOT RECALL THE CAR; JUST SENT NOTIFICATIONS TO MECHANICS, NOT THE OWNERS. MY MOTHER IN LAW HAD THE CAR INSPECTED IN JULY 2018 BY HER MECHANIC. VIN NUMBER INDICATED EXTENDED WARRANTY ON FRAME EXPIRED SEPT 2018. PROBLEM HAPPENED IN DEC. 2018. I CONFIRMED ALL THE ABOVE WITH LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP. WE APPROACHED MY MOTHER IN LAWS MECHANIC AND HE ADMITTED KNOWING OF THE PROBLEM, BUT APPARENTLY MISSED IT IN INSPECTION OR CHOSE NOT TO TELL HER. THE CAR WAS WELL CARED FOR. OIL CHANGES ETC...79,000 MILES NEAR PERFECT BODY AND NOW I'M TOLD IT'S JUNK--AND ONLY WORTH $200! I CALLED JEEP CORP OFFICE 877-426-5337 TO MAKE A PLEA TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED SO MY MOTHER IN LAW COULD RESELL. LIVING IN A GOVERNMENT ASSISTED SENIOR APARTMENT, SHE THOUGHT HER CAR WAS AN ASSET OR INVESTMENT SHE COULD SOMEDAY RELY ON FOR A LITTLE EXTRA; BUT NOT ITS BEEN REDUCED TO A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS. NOT TO MENTION--SHE COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE CAR COULD HAVE FALLEN APART AND SHE COULD HAVE HURT HERSELF AND OTHERS. THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED
WHILE IN MOTION, A CLUNKING NOISE WAS HEARD IN REAR END. INDEPENDENT GARAGE (ZELLER AUTO CENTER,616 MAIN ST., TORRINTON, CT. 06790, 860-489-0204) DIAGNOSED A RUSTED AND ROTTED REAR SUBFRAME. INTERNET CHECK REVEALED OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBEM. JEEP ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTEE FOR 10 YEARS FROM PRODUCTION DATE. NO NOTICE TO VEHICLE OWNERS! CONTACTED JEEP (CASE #57633304) AND THEY ADVISED THAT EXTENDED WARRANTEE FOR THIS CAR EXPIRED ON 12/28/17 AND THEY WOULD NOT MAKE AN EXTENSION. THEY STATED THAT A RECALL WAS NOT NEEDED WHEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTEE WAS ISSUED. I THINK A RECALL IS NEEDED SO THAT OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE CAN BE WARNED OF THE RUSTING SUBFRAME PROBLEM BEFORE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURIES OCCUR.

CAN'T FILL THE FUEL TANK FAST. THERE IS AN ANTISIPHON BALL VALVE IN THE TANK THAT STICKS. TAKES FOREVER TO FILL THE TANK
IN AUGUST 2018, I WAS INFORMED BY A REPUTABLE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT ANOTHER AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT DID WORK ON MY VEHICLE LESS THAN A MONTH PRIOR, "TURNED OFF" THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WENT BACK TO THAT MECHANIC AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO, BECAUSE ITS ALL IN ONE PANEL. ON 11/11/18, ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE TO GET REPLACEMENT BULBS, BUT THEY ADVISED THAT THIS WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND I SHOULD GO TO A MECHANIC. I HAVE ALREADY SPENT A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS ON A 2008 JEEP COMPASS INCLUDING SUSPENSION WORK AND OTHER MAINTENANCE. I WAS JUST INFORMED ON 11/15/18 THAT THE TIPM IS OUT CAUSING THE ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS TO NOT WORK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THIS IS A DEALER ONLY PROBLEM AND COULD COST ME UP TO $2000. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I FIND THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER IN 2015. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN. IN FACT, ALL RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2008 JEEP COMPASS, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN ALL LAWSUITS. I WAS NOT CONTACTED BY ANYONE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOW THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE SAFETY ISSUE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED.
MY FRONT/REAR CROSSMEMBERS ARE RUSTED BADLY AND SWAY BAR RUSTED OFF. I BOUGHT THIS FROM A PRIVATE SELLER IN END OF 2016,I WAS JUST INFORMED FROM MIENIEKE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS A 10 YEAR RECALL ON THIS. I WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID RECALL WARRANTY EXP MAY 2018. I WAS NEVER INFORMED IN A TIMELY MANNER ABOUT THE RECALL TO GET IT FIXED. THIS IS MY ONLY CAR FROM MY TWO CHILDREN AND MYSELF. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING MAINTENANCE, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED TWO HOLES IN THE REAR CROSSMEMBERS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HOLES WERE CAUSED BY SEVERE RUSTING AND CORROSION AND THE CROSSMEMBERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (VISION DODGE, 920 PANORAMA TRAIL, ROCHESTER, NY) WERE NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG. HIT MY BRAKES. AND THEN MY DRIVER FRONT WHEEL SCREECHED AND WENT INTO THE WHEEL WELL. AFTER I HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS A ROTTED OUT SUB FRAME. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE WRECKED AND POSSIBLY NOT BE ALIVE NOW. I WAS LUCKILY ON A BACK ROAD SO THERE WAS NOT ANY INJURIES.
WITHIN 2 MINUTES AFTER PUMPING GAS CAR STALLS AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND CAR SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SITUATION AFTER PUMPING WHETHER STATIONARY, IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET OR A HIGHWAY, TURNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS.
THE REAR END WAS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE. TOOK IT INTO A MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THE REAR FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS CLOSE TO BREAKING. HE HAD TO SECURE THE REAR END TO THE FRAME WITH RATCHET STRAPS TO ALLOW ME TO DRIVE IT TO A MECHANIC WHO COULD FIX IT. ONLY ONE BOLT SECURED THE REAR END TO THE FRAME IT WAS SO DAMAGED. HAD IT BROKEN OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED IF NOT KILLED.

CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE IN JUNE: SAFETY RECALL L27 / NHTSA 12V-085 REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARMS. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER AND I'VE TRIED TO HAVE IT FIXED BY 3 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERSHIPS. NONE OF THEM HAVE THE PART, THEY ALL ORDERED THE PART, THEY ALL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PART. CHRYSLER'S NUMBER FOR THE RECALL IS U42. DEALERSHIPS IN SOUTH FLORIDA CONTACTED: JOEY ACCARDI, ARRIGO, AND, WORST OF THEM ALL, SCHUMACHER. I AM DRIVING AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE?? RIDICULOUS. BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE MUCH ABOUT IT. HOW CAN A MANUFACTURER ISSUE A RECALL AND NOT HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE? I HAVE CUT BACK MY DRIVING, IN FEAR, BUT I HAVE TO USE THE CAR SOMETIMES. IT'S BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS NOW AND NO HOPE IS IN SIGHT. WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FILLED/TOPPED OFF THE CAR RANDOMLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR STEERING LOCKS UP AND IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENS UNTIL THE GAS TANK IS LESS THAN FULL.

THE WHEELS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER IT STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. PRIOR TO IT BEING TOWED, THE TOW TRUCK TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRAME SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT, THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
OUR 2008 JEEP COMPASS HAS A CLUNKING NOISE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE NEAR THE FRONT WHEEL WHEN DRIVING AND TURNING THE WHEEL. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE STATED THE SUBFRAME IS HEAVILY CORRODED AND IS RUSTING OUT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL AND WAS COVERED UNDER AN 'EXTENDED WARRANTY' BULLETIN THAT WE WERE NOT TOLD ABOUT AND NOW THAT HAS EXPIRED AND IT IS NOT COVERED ANYMORE. I WAS TOLD THE BULLETIN EXPIRED 9/2017 SO NOW 1 YEAR AND 7 MONTHS LATER MY VEHICLE WITH ONLY 112K MILES IS GOING TO NEED AN EXPENSIVE FIX OR BASICALLY BE JUNKED. THE 2007 VEHICLES HAD A RECALL AND EVEN THOUGH MINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2007 THERE IS NO RECOURSE AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE A 2008 JEEP COMPASS, PURCHASED VEHICLE AT THE END OF AUGUST 2017. I WAS JUST FORM ABOUT A MONTH AGO THAT MY SUB FRAME WAS ROTTED OUT AND HAD A WARRANTY ON IT FROM MY LOCAL MECHANIC. I HAVE THEN CONTACT SEVERAL JEEP DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS RECALL, HAVE CONTINUED TO TELL ME THAT THIS RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY JEEP FIXED. I WAS NEVER INFORMED BY PHONE CALL EMAIL OR ANYTHING BY MAIL ABOUT THIS RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED .
I JUST GOT GAS AND WAS ABOUT TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE MY ENGINE JUST STOPPED RUNNING. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WERE STILL WORKING BUT WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL I NEVER MOVED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME AND ALIGNMENT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS BADLY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AN INSPECTOR WOULD BE SENT OUT. THE CONTACT CALLED RYAN AUTO MALL (CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM) AT (763) 682-2424 (1000 HIGHWAY 55 EAST, BUFFALO, MN 55313) WHERE AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN INSPECTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.

SUB-FRAME CROSS MEMBER IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND DANGEROUS, CAR HAS LOST ALIGNMENT. LOST CONTROL BUT MANAGE TO STOP, CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET MIAMI FLORIDA , ABS LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHTS AND 4X4? LIGHTS ARE ON.
RECEIVED THE FEBRUARY 15, 2017 LETTER ABOUT THE WARRANTY EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS/ UNLIMITED MILES ON THE FRONT AND REAR CROSSMEMBERS. AT THE TIME OF THE LETTER THE CONDITION MENTIONED HAD NOT BEEN EXPERIENCED. THE CONDITION DID PRESENT ITSELF AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR INSPECTION. BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR WERE RECOMMENDED BE REPLACED HOWEVER WAS INFORMED THE WARRANTY PERIOD IS FROM THE BUILD DATE WHICH WAS IN OCTOBER 2007 THEREFOR MISSING THE WARRANTY PERIOD BY A MONTH. IF THE LETTER STATED THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE AN INSPECTION COULD HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED BEFORE IT EXPIRED.
CORROSION INVOLVING THE BACK BRACES, WHEELHUBS, AXLES, BRACKETS AT 113094 MILES. FOUND WHEN A SENSOR WENT BAD ON THE BACK RIGHT WHEEL, LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE TRAVELING. ALSO SOME FOUND ON BEARING. ONLY A VERY SMALL AMOUNT AT THE FRONT. CURRENTLY STAYING IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC.
EVERY TIME I FILL MY CAR WITH GAS I EXPECT THE CAR TO STALL AND TURN OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WHICH JEEP NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR AND REFUSES TO. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE PEOPLE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WHOSE ENGINES CAN SHUT OFF AT ANY MOMENT CAUSING THEM TO COME TO A COMPLETE STANDSTILL EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHEN THE VALVE FAILS, LIQUID GAS CAN ENTER THE LINE AND FILL THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. AFTER REFUELING THE PCM ON THE VEHICLE DETECTS A CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. THEN, WHEN THE ENGINE MEETS CERTAIN TEMPERATURE AND DRIVING CRITERIA, THE PCM ISSUES A PURGE COMMAND TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER TO REMOVE THE STORED GAS VAPORS. IT'S AT THAT POINT THAT ALL THE LIQUID GAS IN THE LINE GETS SUCKED INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE PCM EXPECTS TO SEE GAS VAPORS ENTERING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT IS PREPARED TO ADJUST AIR/FUEL MIXTURES TO COMPENSATE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PREPARED TO SEE LIQUID GAS COMING INTO THE INTAKE. THAT'S WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2008 JEEP COMPASS TOOK IT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE,THERE WORDS NOT MINE,WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED AND NEEDED REPLACED! I DO ALOT OF TRAVELING TAKING MONTHLY TRIPS TO ALABAMA AND ALSO DELIVER CATERS FOR MY JOB. I OFTEN HAVE MY GRANDKIDS WITH ME AS WELL. I WENT ON LINE AND SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS THE SAME AS MINE!
