My 2014 Jeep Compass is making vibrating noises, swerving moments and cracking sounds. Brought it to my mechanic, he found that the REAR SUBFRAME is rotted out. The FRONT SUBFRAME is also strating to pivot. Reading up on this issue it seems to be very common yet Chrysler has not made a recall for the safety of the passengers and driver and I was told by Chrysler that the extended warranty was only for models up until 2007 and that's it only for the original owner. I would like to report this issue as it is a serious problem.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE SOUND DISAPPEARED. A DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE HEAT SHIELD THAT PROTECTS AND SEPARATES THE GAS TANK FROM MUFFLER PREVENTING THE HEAT FROM THE MUFFLER TO OVERHEAT THE GAS TANK HAS FALLEN FROM THE BRACKETS THAT HOLDS THIS SAFETY / HEAT SHIELD IN PLACE. THIS HEAT SHIELD IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PREVENTING ANY HEAT TO DAMAGE THE GAS TANK DIRECTLY ABOVE. THE BRACKETS THAT HELD UP THE HEAT SHIELD APPEARED TO BE OF VERY POOR QUALITY AND WOULD TEND TO FAIL FROM MY OBSERVATION. WITHOUT THIS HEAT SHIELD IT APPEARS A GAS TANK FIRE COULD OCCUR IN HOT ENVIRONMENTS OR POSSIBLY AT IDLE WITHOUT ANY AIR MOVEMENT TO COOL THE SPACE BETWEEN THE GAS TANK AND MUFFLER.
WATER WAS LEAKING FROM REAR HATCH ONTO INSIDE OF ROOF OF CAR. THIS IS SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP COMPASS. I AM 3000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY AND AM NEWLY DIVORCED WITH LIMITED FUNDS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS ONGOING!! THE ROOF OF MY CAR IS STAINED AND NOW I AM HOPING IT DOESN'T SMELL?? I NEED HELP. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR HOPING IT WOULD BE A GREAT CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I AND NOW AM SECOND GUESSING MYSELF. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKER ENCLOSURE SHOWED SEVERE CORROSION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR PANELS ALSO EXHIBITED SEVERE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
3RD TIMES A CHARM 2014 JEEP COMPASS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME IN JULY OR AUG (4 MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE CAR) AND I THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAULT, WHILE PARKING AND HITTING THE BRAKE MY CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF NOWHERE. I THOUGHT I HAD HIT THE ACCELERATOR BY MISTAKE. THANK GOD THERE WAS A CEMENT THING ON THE FLOOR 2ND TIME: MY SISTER AND I AROUND THE HOLIDAYS, WE WERE IN MY JEEP COMPASS, ALSO PARKING AT THE LOCAL MALL THIS IS WHERE I KNEW IT WASN'T ME BUT AGAIN THERE WAS A CEMENT BARRICADE AND PREVENT ANYTHING BAD FROM HAPPENING, SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE NOW TODAY AGAIN THIS HAPPENED WHILE PARKING AND STEPPING ON THE BREAK OUT OF NOWHERE MY CAR ACCELERATED THIS TIME NOTHING ON THE FLOOR AND RAN INTO A POST. I KEPT HEARING A SQUEAKY NOISE THAT I COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE IT CAME FROM WHEN I WOULD PULL OFF. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DUTCHESS JEEP DEALER AND CALLED A FEW TIMES ALSO TO REPORT BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEN FINALLY AFTER MY PERSISTENCE, DUTCHESS SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN THAT SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM. DUTCHESS SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT RECTIFIED BUT NOW MY CAR SQUEAKS WHILE DRIVING ESP WHEN PULLING OFF. COULD THIS BE A LEMON? *TR
ON 6/19/14 WE CHECKED OUT A 2014 JEEP COMPASS SPORT. DURING TEST DRIVE WE COULD HEAR AIR NOISE. DEALER ASSURED US IT WOULD BE FIXED. WE SIGNED CONTRACT, TOOK CAR BACK FOR THEM TO TEST TO VERIFY AIR NOISE. IT WAS VERIFIED. THEY PUT NEW WEATHER STRIPPING ON TWO DOOR'S WINDOWS. THE "FIXED" WEATHER STRIPPING IMMEDIATELY WAS BUCKLING AND THE AIR NOISE WAS STILL THERE AND WATER CAME IN AFTER THEY WASHED THE CAR. TOOK CAR BACK AND THE DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE WEATHER STRIPPING ON ALL FOUR DOORS. TOOK CAR BACK FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER SAID THREE OF FOUR WINDOWS LOOKED O.K. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE FOURTH ONE COULD BE FIXED AS HE DIDN'T THINK ADHESIVE COULD BE PUT ON ADHESIVE, AND HE'D CALL ME THE NEXT DAY TO TELL ME WHAT CAN BE DONE. NONE OF THE OTHER WINDOWS HAVE ADHESIVE. AS OF THE NEXT DAY THE WEATHER STRIPPING IS COMING OFF, BUCKLING, ETC. ON ALL FOUR DOORS AGAIN EVEN THE ONE WITH SOME ADHESIVE ON IT. CONTINUED AIR NOISE.EVEN RIGHT AFTER THE WEATHER STRIPPING WAS FIXED THERE WAS AIR NOISE. STILL NO CALL FROM THE DEALER AS OF 8/19/14 AM CALLING CHRYSLER. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND BACK DOORS HAVE A LEAK WHICH ALLOWS WATER TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE CARPETING TO BECOME SATURATED AND RETAIN THE WATER TO THE POINT WHERE IT PUDDLES AND HARD TO PROPERLY CLEAN. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW 2014 JEEP COMPASS, AND 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING ON MY WAY HOME I SET CRUISE CONTROL AND LET MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. WHEN I MOVED MY LEFT FOOT CLOSER TO MY SEAT, MY SHOE TRIGGERED THE HOOD RELEASE LATCH. THE HOOD POPPED UP A FEW INCHES, AND IF THE UNDER HOOD SAFETY WASN'T THERE THE HOOD COULD HAVE OPENED COMPLETELY. SAME THING HAPPENED 4-5 DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE WAY THE LATCH PROTRUDES NEAR THE PEDALS IS THE CAUSE FOR THE MULTIPLE TIMES I'VE ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGERED THE HOOD RELEASE. *TR
