I was going down main road in Vineland nj making a left hand turn on to Elmer road when I was stuck in the front of my jeep and I hit the steering wheel the airbags never deployed
The contact owns a 1996 N/A Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE). The local dealer was contacted; however, the dealer refused to perform the recall repair due to the age of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was only one Jeep dealer in the local area. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with Cooper tires, Tire Line: Discoverer A/T, Tire Size: 225/75R17, and DOT Number: UT2Y1DF1515. The contact stated that all four tires had cracks along the sidewall. The tire dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the manufacturer and the NHTSA Hotline. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Sai... Vehicle opened up when put in gear while brake was engaged... Crashed into fence...
Drivers front seat has come loose from the bottom and is now wobbly, uncomfortable to sit on it and appears dangerous to drive as its not secure. There are lots of complaints about this happening to others on the internet.
Housing for driverside rear lights has melted and the brake and tail lights do not work.
IN MOTION THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND ALMOST WRECKED THE CAR FROM THE SHAKING. I HAVE BAD BACK PAIN AND SCARED TO DRIVE. MY 4 YEAR OLD IS TERRIFIED OF GETTING NEAR THE CAR. *TR
THE SUV RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN LIKE SOMEONE UNPLUGGED IT AND WILL NOT START. SOMETIMES IT WILL START AFTER 10-15 MINUTES AND SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR, THE CRANK SENSOR, IDLE CONTROL SENSOR, AND THE CAR COMPUTER. *TR

The contact sustained 2nd-degree burns however medical attention was provided. There were no warning indicator lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer where informed there were no associated recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
STEERING WHEEL HARD TO KEEP IN SINGLE LANE. NEW TIRES, BALANCED, AND ALIGNMENT ALL ACCOMPLISHED. STILL HARD TO KEEP IN SINGLE LANE.
CRANKED 2000 JEEP DROVE 1.5 MILE CAR JUST STOPS RUNNING DOING 40 MPH. INSERT KEY JEEP WILL NOT START . RANDOMLY STOPS DURING OPERATION. INDICATING KEY NOT RECOGNIZED. MILEAGE 122000. JEEP WILL NOT RUN. CAR RUNS FINE WHEN IN OPERATION BUT THEN WHAM IT JUST STOPS. CAN'T CONTROL THE JEEP STEERING LOCKS UP. HAPPENED 6 TIMES ALREADY. REPAIRS SHOP TRIED OF TOWING IT. NO KNOW FIX! GOING TO GET KILLED JEEP SHUTS DOWN AT ANY TIME. NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO REPAIR. MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.
NO START
DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND ALARMS SIMULTANEOUSLY BLINK ON AND OFF. SEEMS TO BE A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE WIRING. GAS TANK LEVELS OFF AT "EMPTY", AND THE FUEL GAUGE SPINS 180 DEGREES SO THAT IT IS CAUGHT UNDER THE "RESTING STICK" AT 0, THEREFORE, NO LONGER READING THE GAUGE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE PARKED.
THE JEEP WILL SUDDENLY CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND MY FAMILY SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY. I REPLACED ( CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE, & PCM) . STILL SHUTS DOWN. TOOK IT TO SEVERAL SHOPS AND KNOW ONE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM WHY? I'VE BEEN DOING ALOT OF RESEARCH, AND NOTICED ALOT OF JEEP OWERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS?
THIS VEHICLE HAS A TENDENCY TO "STALL" AT ANY MOMENT, UNEXPECTEDLY. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER AND OTHER MECHANICS TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK.
After sending my Jeep Grand Cherokee to Pugh’s Service Center in Greenville, NC, in December 2018, because it would turnover, but not start. They replaced the ECM, but had to be taken to the local Jeep dealership for an OE ECM replacement and a crankshaft sensor, in order to get it to crank. Upon getting my Jeep back in March 2019, it ran fine for a few days. Then I went to start it, and it started, but after a few seconds, all of the GAUGES stopped working and all of the WARNING LIGHTS came on. I contacted both Pugh’s and the Jeep dealership, telling me I should just bring it in, to run more diagnostics. The Jeep only has 94,000 miles, and I spent about what the vehicle was worth upon getting it back in March 2019; so I’ve been hesitant on taking it back. There are many other people who have similar issues with the instrument panel gauges and warning lights, from the information I’ve researched online; with no indications of the problem being resolved.
SEAT BEGAN ROCKING LATERALLY WHEN CORNERING. INSPECTION INDICATED ALL SEAT PARTS WERE FIRMLY ATTACHED. ENTERING A PARKED VEHICLE ON A COLD EVENING, THE SEAT ROTATED TO THE RIGHT AND BACKWARD SLIGHTLY. SINCE THEN THE SEAT WILL NOT ADJUST FORE/AFT ON ITS RAILS NOR AM I ABLE TO BRING THE SEAT INTO ITS ORIGINAL UPRIGHT POSITION. I RECEIVE A WARNING THAT THE SEATBELT IS NOT BUCKLED EVEN THOUGH THE BELT IS FIRMLY BUCKLED. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
SEAT NOT GOOD, REAR BOTH AXLES
I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AND TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO GET THE MUFFLER FIXED UPON GETTING IT TO THE SHOP THE SECURITY KEY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE JEEP WONT START ALSO THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE EGNITION WHEN IN THE ON POSITION . THE KEY CAN FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING ... THE RECALL WAS NEVER FIXED AND THE KEY WONT WORK WITH THE JEEP NOW AND IM TOLD ITS A $1,800 FIX .
GASOLINE SPEWING FROM TOP OF TANK AFTER FILLING. SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM TOP OF TANK - VENT TUBE. I CANNOT FIND A RECALL ON THIS ITEM ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE BUT I FOUND A RECALL CAMPAIGN 00V195000. THE DEALER DENIES THAT THIS RECALL EXISTS. DEALER IS HILL-KELLY IN PENSACOLA, FL. HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT GASOLINE PUMP/SERVICE STATION.
BRAKE LIGHTS, RUNNING LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS DONT WORK. SITTING STILL OR MOVING.

THE CONTACT CALLED CHRISTOPHER'S DODGE WORLD AT (303) 238-7311 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 99V312000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS ISSUES HAVE CHANGED BULBS CUIRCUT BOARDS NEW BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH,BUT STILL CAN'T GET BRAKE LIGHTS TO WORK ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK NO ISSUES.
CAR'S INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT WILD W HEN I STARTED THE CAR.EVERY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. GAUGES WORKED IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE CAR, BUT SLOWLY LOST POWER TO KEEP THEM ON, AND THEY WENT TO THE "KEY OFF" POSITION. NOTHING ON THE DRIVERS ARMREST WORKED, NO SEAT AUTO POSITIONER, NO WINDOW OPEN, SHUT, OR LOCK. INFORMATION PANEL OVERHEAD WENT DEAD (BLANK).
ANTI-THEFT IS KEEPING THE JEEP FROM WORKING. THE VEHICLE STARTS AND DIES AFTER 2-3 SECONDS. I HAVE GOOGLED IT ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE LITERALLY TONS OF PEOPLE ON YOU TUBE/FACEBOOK (EVEN SOME LICENSED MECHANICS) COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ISSUE.
JANUARY 9 2018, THE HEATED SEAT IN MY NEWLY PURCHASED JEEP BURNT ME SO BADLY THAT 6 WEEKS LATER I STILL HAVENT HEALED COMPLETELY. I DO HAVE A PHOTOS OF INJURED AREA AND IT'S CURRENT CONDITION IS LAST PIC. THESE SEATS NEED RECALLED, IT COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN WORD-FOR-WORD CHILD OR OLD PERSON WITH THIN SKIN, IT WAS SO PAINFUL TO SHOWER, SIT, OR MUCH LESS MOVE DURING THIS HEALING .
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY, USUALLY AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS LARGE PROBLEM AND AFFECTS MANY CHRYSLER MODELS. FORUMS HAVE PAGE AFTER PAGE OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE PCM. CONNECTORS BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE VEHICLE TO STALL RANDOMLY. IT IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE! IS SOMEONE GOING TO HAVE TO DIE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. I HAVE PUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO THIS VEHICLE AND NO RESOLUTION!
CAR SHAKES BADLY AFTER 60 MPH AND IN THE MORNING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND I TURN IT LEFT/RIGHT AND CAN'T UNLOCK IT SOMETIMES FOR HOURS. IT IS HAPPENING MORE THEN EVER NOW. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2015.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300,000.
BOUGHT THIS 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED AND WHILE DRIVING IT AT 55 MPH, IT LOST POWER FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND THEN REGAINED POWER. THE NEXT DAY IT STALLED AT A STOP SIGN BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. WAS DRIVING A COUPLE DAYS LATER AND WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR ANOTHER STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF TRAFFIC. TODAY THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN TODAY APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE MEDIAN OUT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER READING POST ONLINES, THIS SEEMS LIKE A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE WITH THE JEEPS WITH STALLING WHICH OCCURS AT BOTH LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS IF IT STALLS AND NO STEERING OR BRAKING ABILITIES. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE SINCE JEEP DEALERSHIP CAN'T ANSWER TO THE TRUE ISSUE. REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND FILTER WITH NO SUCCESS

THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 32388093. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET AND ENGINE QUIT AT 40MPH. THIS ENDAGERED DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD.
DRIVER SEAT FLOOR BRACKET CRACKED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN FOUR YEARS. SEAT IS UNSTABLE ANYTIME.
IM NOT SURE. ALL I KNOW IS THAT I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE FEW MONTHS AGO, WITHIN THE TIME HAD THE VEHICLE I THEN PURCHASED ALL NEW PARTS AND STILL GET THE SAME RESULT... PLEASE HELP

ALSO, THE GEAR SHIFTER INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED OUT OF DRIVE AND INTO SECOND GEAR. APPROXIMATELY THIRTY MINUTES LATER, THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND THE OVERDRIVE OFF WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO GO INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

LEAKING GAS TANK
ENGINE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. ALL GAUGES INCLUDING SPEED, RPM'S, TEMP, FUEL, ETC. ALL STAY FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER STALLING AND THEN ALL DROP OFF. THE JEEP GC USED TO START UP AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND WAS ONCE IN A WHILE AT FIRST WITH THIS ISSUE. THEN IT BECAME MORE OFTEN THAT HE JEEP WOULD STALL, THE SAME THING WITH THE DASH FOR A FEW SECONDS THE SPEED, RPM'S, ETC. WOULD BE AT WHERE IT WAS BEFORE STALLING WITH NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES WHILE MOVING. VERY HARD TO STEER ON CURVES WHEN THE JEEP STALLS. PUT IN A PCM, CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, & CAMSHAFT SENSOR. ASE MECHANIC STUMPED ON ISSUE. VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING AND REMINDS ME OF THE GM IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS. AND I HAVE SEEN FORUMS ON THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON MY YEAR THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN ON WITH THE KEY AT ALL
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LARADO WITH AN R TITLE. I WAS JUST TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL TANK EXPLODING UPON IMPACT. JEEP RECALLED THE JEEPS ON THE ROAD & HAD A TRAILER HITCH PUT ON BY LOCAL GARAGES. DOES OUR VEHICLE FALL UNDER YOUR RECALL? CAN WE GET A RECALL, SO WE CAN HAVE A HITCH PUT ON? DATE OF PURCHASE BELOW:
FOR GOING ON 2 MONTHS NOW MY CAR HAS STALLED AT THE MOST INCONVENIENT TIMES. TURNING INTO GAS STATIONS, STOPPING AT STOP LIGHTS, DRIVING ON BUSY STREETS GOING UP TO 50MPH. USUALLY I CAN JUST POP IT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT BUT AS OF LATE, IT WON'T TURN BACK OVER UNTIL I REPLACE THE IGNITION FUSE. I HAVE REPLACED THAT FUSE TWICE NOW, REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR, REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER, YET NOTHING HAS OFFERED A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. AS YOU CAN CLEARLY TELL, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO BE HAVING AND BY READING THROUGH THESE COMPLAINTS I SEE I AM FAR FROM ALONE. NOT TO MENTION THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH HAVING TO REPLACE ALL OF THESE PARTS (PER ADVICE FROM MECHANICS) WHILE GETTING NOWHERE. PLEASE FIX THIS OR FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE. WHEN EXITING THE EXPRESS WAY YESTERDAY, MY AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON AND DINGED ABOUT 3 TIMES AND TURNED OFF. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME MY GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS DONE THIS IN THE YEAR THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. I'D LIKE TO NOTE MY PREVIOUS CAR, A 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, WOULD HAVE THIS ISSUE EVERYDAY. IT IS NOT SAFE FOR MY AIRBAGS TO BE DISABLING WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS HAVING A STALLING ISSUE AS WELL. THIS COULD BE FATAL GIVEN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT TRACK FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AT WORST POSSIBLE TIMES. NO CODES. NO WARNING: IN TRAFFIC. AT STOP LIGHTS. PULLING INTO GAS STATIONS. ETC... EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!!! DATE SUBMITTED IS THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES JUST THIS YEAR. LOOKED ON MANY JEEP FORUMS AND SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM!!! (SEE FOR YOURSELF). PLEASE HELP!!!!
ONE WEEK AGO WITHOUT WARNING AT 35 MPH GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD CAR WARNING CHIME STARTED AND AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF. NOW IT CONSTANTLY BLINKS ON AT RANDOM TIMES, NO APPARENT REASON, I.E., STOPPED, DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS STRAIGHT AHEAD, LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS, UP OR DOWN HILLS, STARTING OFF OR PARKED. NOW BECOMING MORE AND MORE FREQUENT, SOMETIMES FOR A MINUTE OR SO IT REMAINS ON, SOMETIMES NO MORE THAN FOR A FEW SECONDS. FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED ON THIS SITE WHEN LOOKING FOR ANY RECALL INFORMATION.
SUDDEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING OR AT IDLE. APPLICABLE AT ALL SPEEDS FROM IDLE TO FREEWAY SPEEDS. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES IT WILL RESTART IF THE VEHICLE SITS FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND OTHER TIMES IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED FOR THREE HOURS OR MORE. I HAVE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND FREEWAYS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS THREE TIMES, HAVE PAID OVER $400 IN REPAIR BILLS TO HAVE PARTS REPLACED AND THE ISSUE STILL OCCURS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS IN INTERNET FORUMS FOR THE EXACT SAME THING AND MOST SEEM TO LEAD TO A FAULTY ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE NOT YET REPLACED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE MYSELF SINCE THEY CAN COST OVER $400 AND THE DEALER CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL FIX IT. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE, I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD WARRANT N INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS OF VEHICLES STALLING. THE STALLING HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE NO SINGLE DATE THAT I CAN PROVIDE. I HAVE QUIT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE SINCE NOVEMBER DUE TO CONCERN FOR SAFETY.

DRIVERS SEAT BOTTOM , WELDS BROKE , CRACKED FRAME . DRIVERS SEAT BOTTOM SEEMS TO BECOME VERY UNSTABLE AND SEEMS TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH . ALSO TILTS SIDE TOO SIDE WHEN CORNERING .
THE V8 ENGINE QUITS RUNNING AT BOTH FULL SPEED AND AT IDLE WITHOUT WARNING. ALL ENGINE FUNCTION IS LOST IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR HAS PAST. THE VEHICLE THEN OPERATES NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT, UNEXPECTED ENGINE FAILURE. ATTEMPT TO FIND THE ISSUE HAVE INCLUDED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR, REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRICAL RELAY FOR THE FULL PUMP, REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL FILTER.
