I PRESENTLY DON'T HAVE A PICTURE OF THE GAS POURING OUT FROM THE GAS TANK AREA. I CAN GET YOU ONE UPON YOUR REQUEST. THEIR IS ALREADY A INVESTIGATION ON MY JEEP IN THE WORKS. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE FUMES ARE MAKING ME SICK FROM WITHIN. MY GAS TANK IS LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE. I'VE WAS PULLED OVER FROM A STRANGER ON THE ROAD AFTER FILLING THE TANK UP TWICE IN ONE WEEK LAST WEEK. THE MAN SAID MY GAS IS LEAKING OUT. I ASK HOW HE KNEW AND HIS RESPONSE WAS MY FUMES WERE COMING INTO HIS CAR AND MY TANK UNDER THE JEEP WAS WET. I GOT OUT AND WENT TO INVESTIGATE TO SEE FUEL POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE GAS TANK. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE HOME AND PARKED MY JEEP. I OBSERVE DEAD GRASS IN MY YARD ALSO WHERE ITS PARKED. THIS TYPE OF SMELLING OF FUMES AND WITNESSES OF MY FUEL WASTING ON THE GROUND IS A CONSISTS OCCURRENCE FROM STRANGERS. BOTH TRAVELING ON THE STREETS OF DAYTONA BEACH FLORIDA, PARKED AT MY FRIENDS HOUSE AS WELL AS MY OWN YARD.
UPON WARMING UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF OF OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. IT HAS 81,000 VERY WELL CARED FOR MILES ON IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT ALMOST EVERY CONCEIVABLE SPEED (0-5MPH, 10-25MPH, 40-50MPH, 55-80MPH) AND, AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES, IE; PULLING INTO A GAS STATION, MERGING WITH TRAFFIC, ENTERING AN INTERSECTION, COMING TO OR LEAVING A STOP LIGHT, DRIVING AT STEADY ROADWAY OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MY WIFE WAS NEARLY KILLED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE SUDDEN AND UTTER LOSS OF ALL POWER. THIS CAN AND DOES HAPPEN ON EVERY TYPE OF ROAD OR STREET OR HIGHWAY AND IN EVERY TYPE OF WEATHER. THIS HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS ALTHOUGH THERE ARE TIMES WHEN WE CAN GO A WEEK WITH NO EPISODES. UPON A LITTLE INVESTIGATION, I HAVE COME ACROSS MULTIPLE SITES AND FORUMS WHERE MANY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. SOME HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY SCRATCH THEIR HEADS AND SAY THE PROBLEM CAN'T BE DUPLICATED. OTHERS HAVE SPENT MUCH MONEY ON MECHANICS AND PARTS ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM PERSIST. OTHERS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEMSELVES WITH ONLY MARGINAL RESULTS AT BEST. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IN A BROAD SPECTRUM OF PRODUCTION YEARS AND ACROSS A WIDE VARIETY OF JEEP MODELS WITH THE V8 AND STRAIGHT 6, ALTHOUGH OTHER ENGINES HAVE HAD SIMILAR EPISODES. IN THE FIELD BELOW, I AM USING YESTERDAY'S DATE AS THE LAST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 40 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,800.
VEHICLE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY QUITS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS FORM URBAN TO HIGHWAY. ALMOST ENCOUNTERED A COLLISION ON THE HIGHWAY AND AT AN URBAN INTERSECTION DUE TO ENGINE SHUTOFF.THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND SO FAR CHRYSLER DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
THE RIGHT PASSENGER AND BACK RIGHT DOOR WON'T UNLOCK AFTER PRESSING THE UNLOCK SWITCH ON THE DOOR PANELS. NEEDS TO BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY.
WHILE PARKING THE JEEP ALONG THE STREET IN BETWEEN OUR OTHER 2 VEHICLES IT TOOK OFF AT FULL SPEED IN REVERSE CRASHING INTO OUR TRUCK THEN TOOK OFF FULL SPEED FORWARD AND CRASHED OUR CAR THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS THE JEEP WAS A TOTAL LOSS.THE JEEP WAS IDLING AND WENT TO FULL THROTTLE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE PEDAL AND WAS ALSO NOT IN GEAR
TAKATA AIR BAG AND FUEL TANK EXPLOSION ON IMPACT. AS OF THE DATE OF THIS REPORT, I DID NOT RECEIVED ANY DOCUMENT FROM CHRYSLER CONCERNING THESES 2 SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY JEEP. WE ARE LOCATED IN SOUTH FLORIDA. I'VE CALL SOME CHRYSLER DEALER IN MY AREA, AND THEY SAY THAT THERE ARE NO RECALL FOR MY CAR CONCERNING THESES TWO SAFETY ISSUE. NOTHING HAS HAPPEN SO FAR, BUT I DON'T WANT TO CONTINUE PLAYING THE ODD THAT NOTING WILL HAPPEN TO THE LIFE OF MY WIFE,MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF WHEN DRIVING THE JEEP IN FLORIDA. I WILL APPRECIATE RECEIVING ANY INPUT FROM THE NHTSA IN THAT MATTER, AND ALSO A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER TO FIX THE TWO SAFETY ISSUE. THE SOONEST WILL THE BEST. WE COULD IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE N47 RECALL AND IT WAS THERE FOR 24 HOURS AND THEY SAID IT DOESN'T NEED A HITCH IT DOESN'T NEED ANY PROTECTION FOR THE FUEL TANK. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY AND THIS RECALL IS A WASTE OF MY TIME AND THE CAR CAN STILL BLOW UP IN A REAR END CRASH,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO CRACKED RIBS AND INJURIES TO THE HEAD. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE READ THAT !ANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME DRIVER'S SEAT ISSUE. THE HOLES FOR THE BOLTS HAS BEEN SHREDDED COMPLETELY AND THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO CHARGE $3,500 TO REPAIR IT. IT'S A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE FIXED FOR FREE. IT UNDER THE SEAT, HOW CAN THE OWNER DESTROY THAT. 2) THE HEAD LIGHT COVERS GETS THIS DISCOLORATION OR GRIME ON THE INSIDE DECREASING THE BRIGHTNESS BY 45% AT NIGHT, THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN MY BRONCO. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THE RECALL # LISTED ONLINE DIDN'T MATCH THE FORMAT OF THE NUMBERS IN THEIR SYSTEM TO DO RESEARCH. WHAT? THIS IS RIDICULOUS, FIX YOUR RECALLS CHRYSLER!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HEATER FAILED TO BLOW HOT AIR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND 6 MONTHS LATER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE VENTS FAILED TO DISTRIBUTE HEAT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS POORLY DESIGNED AND METAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED INSTEAD OF PLASTIC FOR THE VENTS. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CAR WILL STALL WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 2 MONTHS AGO. IT HAS 123000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AS WELL AS 15 MPH. IT USUALLY RESTARTS AFTER IT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND PUT IN PARK. I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER WITH NO CHANGE IN IT'S STALLING PROBLEM. HAS BEEN SEEN BY MECHANICS, NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER. MANY FORUMS ONLINE ARE FILLED WITH SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT JEEP CHEROKEES STALLING WHILE DRIVING. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS MODEL, I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REAR ENDED ON A FREEWAY OR OTHER FAST MOVING ROAD. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES. TWICE I HAVE REQUIRED A TOW BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT START BACK UP WITHIN A HALF HOUR.
FIRST: I HAD PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH APPROX. 110,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKES ON MODERATE TO HEAVY BRAKING AS WELL AS MODERATE SHAKING UPON DECELERATION ON HIGHWAY SURFACES AS WELL AS INTERMENT CLUNKING FROM FRONTAL SUSPENSION AREA UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS. THE STEERING WHEEL MAY BE POINTED STRAIGHT AHEAD OR AT A SLIGHT LEFT OR RIGHT POSITION. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE SHAKING, UNDER THE ABOVE CONDITIONS, IS VERY SLIGHT OR NONEXISTENT AT ALL. I BELIEVE IT IS IN THE FRONT STEERING LINKAGE/SUSPENSION AND NOT THE BRAKES. I HAVE PERSONALLY INSPECTED THE COMPONENTS MENTIONED ABOVE AS I HAVE MOPAR EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST AS A TECHNICIAN. I HAVE ALSO HAD A SECOND OPINION FROM AN INDEPENDENT TECHNICIAN WELL VERSED IN JEEP TECHNOLOGY. SECOND; I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL PRESSURE BEING ERRATIC WHEN WARMED UP AND EITHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. I HAVE REPLACED THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT AND PERFORMED MOPAR DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CLUSTER AS MENTIONED IN THE SHOP MANUAL TO NO AVAIL ON THIS 4.0L ENGINE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.THE GAUGE READS WELL WHEN COLD BUT WHEN WARMED UP IT WILL DROP TO ZERO WITH THE GAUGE ALARM WARNING ME OF THE ACTION. THEN MOVING ERRATICALLY BETWEEN THE 40LB MARKER AND ZERO PRESSURE WHILE IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. I AND A FEW TECHNICIANS ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY DETERMINING WHERE THE PROBLEM IS GENERATED. ON A NOTE, THERE IS A SLIGHT CONSISTENT TICKING NOISE SUCH AS A VALVE LIFTER OR ROCKER ARM COMING FROM THE ENGINE, WARM OR COLD, STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. BLEND DOORS BREAKING...WON'T ALLOW ME TO DEFROST...IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF WINDSHIELD. ..VERY DANGEROUS
CHRYSLER JEEP WAS SUPPOSE TO FIX MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX THE JEEP THAT IS ALREADY ON THE RECALL LIST I CALL AND THEY SAID IF I PUT A AFTER MARKET HITCH ON MY VEHICAL THAT I WOULD BE PUTTING MYSELF UP TO GET KILLED IN A LOW SPEED CAR CRASH. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO PUT A HITCH ON IT THAT THEY PUT A FACTORY HITCH ON MY VEHICAL I TOOK JEEP IN THEY REFUSED TO DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY WAS GOING TO DO AND THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME FEDERAL LIABILITY AS JEEP ALREADY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO THIS AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ALL READY DEEMED IT A DEATH THREAT
I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT HAVING SOMEBODY CRASH INTO THE REAR OF MY JEEP. THE REAR BUMPER IS RIGHT NEXT TO FUEL TANK. THEY ARE GOING TO INSTALL TRAILER HITCHES ( FOR ADDED PROTECTION ) ON SOME OTHER YEAR JEEPS BUT NOT MINE !! HOW CAN THIS BE FAIR WHEN THEY ARE ALL BUILT THE SAME WAY. THE ENGINE IS NOT COOLING CORRECTLY WHEN SITTING STILL. THE ELECTRIC FAN THAT KEEPS THE ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING DOES NOT COME ON, WHETHER SITTING OR RUNNING. GOT STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE COOL AND HAD TO DRIVE 20 MILES PER HOUR IN A 45 MILE ZONE AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE THERMOSTAT WAS CHANGED, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT, AND AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, THE ELECTRIC FAN DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL, SITTING STILL OR DRIVING.
VEHICLE HAS GAS TANK KNOWN TO EXPLODE IN REAR END COLLISIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY RESTART IF IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,100.
ALTHOUGH NO ACCIDENT YET, I WANTED TO SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM FCA ABOUT THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN" (BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THE GAS TANK HANGS UNDER THE REAR BUMPER, YEAR 2000 WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE "RECALL" TRAILER HITCH DEAL). I BOUGHT IT NEW AND AM STILL LIVING AT THE SAME ADDRESS. I ALSO WANTED TO NOTE THAT ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE GC IS THAT THE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS OFTEN STOP WORKING. THE SOCKET GETS SCORCHED AND YOU HAVE TO GO TAKE IT APART, PRY THE CONTACTS UP JUST RIGHT AND PUT ALUMINUM FOIL UNDER THEM (GOOGLE GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKE LIGHTS). THAT WORKS FOR A WHILE, THEN YOU HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. I'VE BEEN STOPPED TWICE IN 6 MONTHS FOR IT. SOMETIMES THE TAILLIGHT WORKS BUT ACTUALLY GOES OUT WHEN YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE. IN ANY CASE, HAVING A GAS TANK PRONE TO EXPLODING WHEN REAR ENDED ALONG WITH BRAKE LIGHT ISSUES IS NOT A GOOD THING. THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO CANNOT BE UNLOCKED EXCEPT FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE, WHILE THE DRIVERS SIDE HAVE TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY (AGAIN, IT'S ALL OVER GOOGLE. IT'S CALLED THE ANGRY DUCK FOR THE NOISE THE LOCKS MAKE. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR NHTSA TO MAKE A OTHER ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THIS - THE NEWS WAS THEY WERE GOING TO IN A WEEK OR SO, BUT THAT WAS 3 WEEKS AGO. AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND CHIMES SPORADICALLY. I WAS TOLD BY JEEP MECHANIC, THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT $370.00. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENCE.

THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNCERTAIN WHEN HE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY TURN ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE MIGHT BE RELATED TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 06E011000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), 02V104000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND 00V195000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000.
AS I WAS GETTING OFF MY VEHICLE I HEARD A POP COMING FROM AROUND MY SEAT. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND DID NOT MAKE MUCH OF IT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I SAT ON THE SEAT. UPON ENTERING AND SEATING ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT I NOTICED THAT THE SEAT WAS NOT EVEN AS IT HAD BEEN IN THE DAY BEFORE. I GOT OFF THE VEHICLE AND THE FRONT RIGHT CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAD DROPPED AND THE SEAT WAS LEANING DOWN TOWARD THIS CORNER. AFTER I INSPECTED UNDER THE SEAT I DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE FRONT, RIGHT BRACKET CONNECTING THE SEAT TO THE TRACK BREAKING OFF THE TRACK. NOW THE SEAT IS ONLY SUPPORTED BY THREE BRACKETS. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE GIVEN ITS AGE, MILEAGE AND MY HEIGHT AND WEIGHT. I THICK THAT THIS POTENTIAL VERY UNSAFE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN THIS VEHICLE GETS UP TO 60 IT SHAKES VERY BAD UNTIL I PRESS THE BREAK. I HAVE REPLACED ALL THE FRONT END SUSPENSION PARTS AND IT STOPPED FOR A FEW MONTHS AND HAS NOW STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND I AM WORRIED ABOUT A POSSIBLE CRASH.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY RIGHT SIDE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY FOUR TIMES. FOR SOME REASON, IT CONTINUES TO GO BAD. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD UNLOCK WITH THE KEY AND ALL OTHER DOORS WOULD UNLOCK MANUALLY ONCE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS AROUND 48 TO 51 MPH, YOU CAN FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL START SHAKING SOMETIMES IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PETAL IT WILL STOP BUT MORE THAN NOT IT WILL GO INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE TO WHERE ONE CAN HARDLY HANG ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL. YOU HAVE TO TRY AND GET SAFELY TO SHOULDER AND STOP. THEN YOU CAN DRIVE AWAY BUT WHEN SPEEDING UP TO MERGE BACK INTO TRAFFIC IT DOES IT AGAIN. WHEN YOU JUST CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE YOU EXIT THE FREEWAY JUST TO DRIVE THE CITY STREETS TO WHERE YOU GET THE SMALL LIKE SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THESE PAST 2 WEEKS IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPEING MORE OFTEN. I HAVE HAD SOME WORK DONE AS TO WHAT MY GUY THOUGHT IT COULD BE FOR IT TO NOT BE FIXED. I ALSO NOW HAVE THE ANNOYING AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND BEEPING WHILE TURNING ANY DIRECTION CORNER. I REALLY LIKE THE JEEP BUT I ONLY WORK PART TIME AND MY FIANCE PASSED AWAY 2 YEARS AGO BEFORE HIS PASSING HE BOUGHT THE JEEP SO I WOULD HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE JEEP BUT IT IS THE ONLY ONE I DO HAVE NOW..PARTS AND WORK DONE AS OF FEBRUARY OF 2015.....3 TIE ROD ENDS REPLACED 2 LOWER ONE UPPER ON PASSENGER SIDE, 2 NEW TIRES BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT IS WHAT WAS CAUSING IT., A REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL SEAL, A VALVE COVER GASKET, 2 SETS OF FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS COSING WELL OVER 1300.00. AND STILL HAVE THIS VIOLENT SHAKE. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO BUY A DIFFERENT VEHICLE SO PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO STOP THE SHAKING FOREVER.
DRIVING ALONG THE ROADWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE AUTOMOBILE SHUT DOWN (NO GAS-NO IGNITION-NO DASH LIGHTS). I PULLED OF THE ROAD, TRIED TO, BUT WOULD NOT START. AFTER SITTING THERE FOR 45 MINUTES IT STARTED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE MORE TIMES SINCE. THE LAST TIME ON I-95 IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH VERY LIMITED ACCESS TO LEAVE THE HIGHWAY. BOUGHT THIS AUTOMOBILE USED. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER WE NOTICED THE DRIVERS SEAT TRACK HAD SEPARATED IN TWO PLACES ON EACH SIDE OF THE SEAT. THE SEAT WAS LITERALLY BEING HELD TO THE TRACK WITH BAILING WIRE THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD RIGGED. WE REMOVED THE WIRE AND USED A CUSHION SPRING TO HOLD THE SEAT TO THE TRACK. NOTE: THE METAL BRACKETS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SEAT HAD SIMPLY FATIGUED AND SPLIT IN TWO. I CALLED OUR LOCAL JEEP/CHRYSLER DEALER AND HE GAVE ME THE NATIONAL NUMBER FOR JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE REP, NOTHING COULD BE DONE SINCE THERE HAD NOT BEEN A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS ITEM. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS YEAR OF GRAND CHEROKEE. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THIS CONDITION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CHRYSLER/JEEP SHOULD RECALL THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT TRACK FOR THESE YEARS (1999-2004) GRAND CHEROKEE. *TR

NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT RAILS MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,000.

WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT,WAS ON A FAIRLY STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD. ENGINE QUIT RUNNING WITH NO WARNING, LIGHTS DIMMED. A COUPLE SECONDS LATER ENGINE RESTARTED, AND SHE CAME ON HOME. HAVE NOT TRIED TO DRIVE IT SINCE, BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE NEW, LEASED AT FIRST, THEN BOUGHT IT. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO HAVE LOST POWER TO DRIVE AND ALSO TO PROVIDE PROPER TO THE RADIO WHICH GOES IN AND OUT. WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK STARTED HESITATING TO KEEP GOING. AT 0 TO 40MPH IT WAS ACTING LIKE IT WANTED TO SHUT OFF BUT AS I GAVE IT MORE GAS IT SEEMED TO GET BETTER AND THE MUSIC CAME IN CLEARER BUT THEN IT WOULD JERK LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. I HAVE HAD THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR, ENGINE AND SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND CHECKED BUT IT STILL IS DOING THE SAME THING. GAS TANK SHIELD HAS RUSTED OUT AND PIECES ARE MISSING, THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR A SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE GAS TANK CAN BE EXPOSED AND PUNCTURED BEING FATAL.
