AS I SAT AT A STOP LIGHT IT TURNED GREEN I ACCELERATED AND AS I DID THE BRACKET ON MY FRONT DRIVER SEAT SEPARATED FROM THE FRAMEWORK OF THE SEAT CAUSING ME TO FALL BACKWARDS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROADWAY MIRRORS OR PROPERLY ACCELERATE OR BRAKE AS ANY DRIVER SHOULD BE ABLE TO CAUSING ME TO LOSE TEMPORARY CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I HOWEVER REGAINED CONTROL AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER BUT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE UNTIL A REPAIR WAS DONE. *TR
VEHICLE JUST STALLS REGARDLESS OF SPEED SEVERAL SENSORS REPLACED STILL STALLS DEALER UNABLE TO FIX OTHER MECHANICS ALSO CANNOT FIX MANY THEORIES ON INTERNET NONE WORK YET MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM NO SOLUTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE INPUT AND OUTPUT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
I CAN'T PUT GAS IN THE TANK UNLESS IT IS AT THE VERY SLIGHTEST FLOW OR IT JUST SHUTS OFF AND SOMETIMES SPEWS GAS BACK OUT AT ME. I HAVE BEEN SOAKED WITH GASOLINE MORE THAN ONCE. I CAN'T EVEN PUT IT ON THE LOWEST SETTING ON THE HANDLE. I SAW THE RECALLS AND CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY VIN ISN'T IN THE RECALL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FIRE HAZARD AND I CAN'T BELIEVE WE CAN'T GET THIS FIXED. *TR
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN LIT UP ON THE DASH FOR WELL OVER A YEAR NOW AND STILL BEEPING LOUDLY AT ME EVERY FEW MINUTES. I WANT TO KNOW WHY IT'S MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED AT THE THE PRICE OF 450.00 (DEALERSHIP QUOTE)? THERE IS NO REASON FOR WHY THE CLOCK SPRING SHOULD BE BROKEN AND HAVE TO BE FIXED. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON COMPLAINING OF THIS PROBLEM AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON IT? WHY IS THE 2000 YEAR BEING SKIPPED OVER FOR THIS JEEP AND THE RECALLS OF IT?
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF MY COMPLAINTS, IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER 3 OR 4 OF THESE FORMS TO TOUCH ALL OF THEM. WHILE RUNNING THE HEATER WITH THE FAN GOING IT STARTED SMELLING LIKE IT WAS BURNING AND THEN THE BLOWER QUIT RUNNING. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. IT HAD MELTED TO THE POINT OF FUSING THE WIRES INTO THE PLASTIC WHICH THE RESISTOR WAS MADE OF. IT WAS A FIRE HAZARD! THE PART COST US $270.00 NOT INCLUDING LABOR. IN THE MIDDLE OF A HUGE RAINSTORM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW QUIT WORKING AND WOULDN'T GO UP, UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVING THE WINDOW MECHANISM REPLACED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTED INTERMITTENTLY CHIMING AND HAS NEVER STOPPED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT $395.00. SINCE I HAD JUST HAD TO HAVE THE HEATER CORE FIXED TO KEEP IT FROM DUMPING ALL OVER THE CARPET, I COULDN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT OR HAVE THE A/C COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WHICH WAS FROZEN, REPLACED EITHER, ANOTHER $702.00. I HAVE OWNED THIS JEEP SINCE JAN OF 2012. BEGINNING WITH A NEW MOTOR I HAVE PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE 3 TIMES OVER DUE TO REPAIRS AND PROBLEMS STEMMING FROM THE FACTORY AND THE CHEAP WAY IT WAS BUILT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE RELATED TO THE IGNITION.
I OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND WHILE DRIVING IT THE CAR STOP SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. CAR WAS UNABLE TO START AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE MEMORY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COST FOR THE MEMORY REPLACEMENT $1000, 2 MONTHS LATER, JEEP STOP AGAIN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE MECHANIC CANNOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM THAT MAKING THE CAR NOT TURN ON. CHANGED BATTERIES, BRAKES, FUEL PUMP ETC. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2000 JEEP LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND THE FUEL SENSOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD PROVIDE ERRONEOUS READINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,772.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR HEATED UP TO THE POINT THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRES AND THE RESISTOR HAD BOTH BEEN CHARRED AND MELTED. NOT ONLY DO I NO LONGER HAVE ANY HEAT OR A/C BUT I ALSO NO LONGER HAVE A WINDOW DEFROSTER AND THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF, ANY PASSENGERS I MAY HAVE AND AS WELL TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. NOT TO MENTION THE FIRE THAT WAS ONLY BARELY THWARTED OFF.
VEHICLE WAS NOTED WITH STOP LIGHT ACTIVATED IN PARKED POSITION. INVESTIGATION SHOWED FAIL BRAKE SWITCH ADJACENT TO BRAKE PEDAL. PURCHASED NAPA REPLACEMENT PART . INSTALLED REPLACEMENT SWITCH DID NOT FULLY SEAT INTO METAL POCKET ON SUPPORT BRACKET. REPLACED WITH JEEP/CHRYSLER DEALER REPLACEMENT SWITCH WITH SAME CONDITION. UNIT WILL BE PUSHED OUT OF METAL BRACKET FROM QUICK RELEASE OF BRAKE PEDAL. CONCERN IS EXCESSIVE HEAT GENERATED BY CONTINUAL REAR BRAKE LIGHT ACTIVATION. POTENTIAL FOR FIRE HAZARD. I AM FAA CERTIFIED FOR FLIGHT SAFETY SYSTEMS ON AIRCRAFT. THIS INADEQUATELY SECURED SWITCH WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED FOR AIRCRAFT DUE TO HAZARDOUS POTENTIAL FAILURE MODE. SWITCH DESIGN WAS MADE FOR QUICK ASSEMBLY BUT INADEQUATE SECURING TO VEHICLE BRACKET SUPPORT.

HAVE BEEN NOTICING VIBRATION OF THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN WHEN A/C TURNED ON. WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVE, HEARD POP NOISE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PULLED INTO DRIVE, OPENED HOOD AND FOUND THAT RADIATOR FAN HAD DISINTEGRATED, PIERCING RADIATOR SHROUD AND RADIATOR. HOLES IN RADIATOR (RADIATOR NOW LEAKING) AND SHROUD. CALLED CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER AND TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL 06V199000. AM REPLACING ALL AFFECTED PARTS AND PERFORMING SERVICE MYSELF. BASED ON ONLINE RESEARCH THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER ABOVE MENTIONED RECALL. *TR
FAULTY GAS TANK. GAS LEAKING FROM TANK. STRONG SMELL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE V8 4.7L JUST STALLED OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING. IT TOOK ABOUT 1 HOUR TO START BACK UP. THEN IT DIED ABOUT FIVE TIMES AFTER THAT. MY JEEP ALSO STALLS OUT WHEN I'M SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE THAN BOMB JUST LIKE THAT MY JEEP STALLS OUT. MOST THE TIME I CAN START IT, BUT SOME TIMES I CAN'T START MY JEEP UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. I ALMOST GET SLAMMED ABOUT 10 TIMES ALREADY. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THE JEEP.. I REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER, SPARK PLUGS, CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, CAMSHAFT POSITIONS SENSOR, BATTERY, BATTERY TERMINALS, AND MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. NOTHING HAS HELPED MY STALLING! NOTHING! I TOOK MY JEEP TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. I ALSO CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO AND I TALKED TO THE TECHS AND MECHANICS AND THEY ALL SAID THEY NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE. I CALL BS ON THAT. IF YOU LOOK ON GOOGLE AND TYPE 2000 JEEP STALL OUT, THERE'S 100'S EVEN 1,000'S OF PEOPLE DEALING WITH THE STALL OUT PROBLEM. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN MY JEEP AT ALL!! I WAS DRIVING ON AN ON RAMP WHEN I HIT A RAISED BUMP ON THE ROAD. THE FRONT STARTED BUMPING VIOLENTLY ALMOST LIKE A BASKETBALL. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES IT STOPPED AS I SLOWED DOWN. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT GOING TO BE RECALLED. I HAVE READ THAT IF I AM STRUCK FROM BEHIND MY CAR COULD CATCH FIRE. I AM EXPERIENCING SOME OTHER ISSUES WITH THE CAR, ONE OF WHICH IS IT DYING EVERYTIME I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I GET A QUACK SOUND WHEN THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK IS ACTIVATED. INITIALLY BOTH LOCKS WORKED THEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOESN'T LOCK BUT UNLOCKS AND THE DRIVER'S PASSENGER DOOR DOESN'T UNLOCK BUT LOCKS. ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL, WHILE ROLLING, AND TRY TO RESTART WITH KEY. MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SHIFT TO PARK TO RESTART. NOT SO BAD IF YOU CAN GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FIRST, TERRIBLE IF YOU HAVE TO STOP IN THE TRAVEL LANES TO RESTART CAR. SOMETIMES IT TAKES UP TO 30 MINUTES TO GET VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING ON THE GROUND AND STATED THAT FRAGMENTS OF THE FAN ENTERED THE RADIATOR. IN ADDITION, THE FAN SHROUD WAS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V199000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
LIVING IN CHICAGO , MY JEEP HAS A HEATER PROBLEM , FROM DEFECTIVE FACTORY BLEND DOOR THAT BRAKE INSIDE DASH AND CAUSES THE HEATER AND AC NOT TO WORK PROPERLY AND WILL FOG THE WINDSHIELD MAKING THIS A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER'S SEAT FRONT OUTBOARD ATTACH POINT FAILED DURING NORMAL USE. THE FAILURE WAS IN THE FRAME OF THE SEAT BASE WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT TRACK. THIS IS A MANUAL ADJUST SEAT. I AM ORIGINAL OWNER AND OF AVERAGE BUILD. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, ABUSED IN ANY WAY, AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I CONDUCTED MY OWN INFORMAL INVESTIGATION. THE SEAT BASE FRAME WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE SEAT TRACK IS A LIGHT WEIGHT SHEET METAL STAMPING. THE HOLES IN THE STAMPING THAT ACCEPT THE SEAT TRACK ATTACHMENT STUDS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY OVERSIZE COMPARED WITH THE SIZE OF THE STUD. THE SEAT TRACK STUD IS FASTENED TO THE SEAT BASE WITH A BARE NUT THAT IS ONLY SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE HOLE DIAMETER. THIS RESULTS IN THE NUT BEARING DOWN ON A VERY SMALL SURFACE AREA OF THE SHEET METAL. HIGH STRESS IS CREATED AT THESE POINTS, ESPECIALLY IF THE NUT IS NOT EXACTLY CENTERED ON THE OVERSIZE HOLE. ALSO, THE FRONT ATTACH POINTS ARE SEVERAL INCHES TO THE REAR OF THE FRONT EDGE OF THE SEAT FRAME, FURTHER INCREASING FORCES ON THESE POINTS FOR ANY REARWARD FORCE ON THE UPPER SEAT BACK. OVER TIME DURING NORMAL USE, THIS RESULTED IN STRESS CRACKING AND SUBSEQUENT FATIGUE FAILURE OF THE SHEET METAL. DURING A HIGH IMPACT EVENT SUCH AS A REAR-END COLLISION, THIS COULD CAUSE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE SEAT ATTACH POINTS, RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, INJURY TO THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT, AND INJURY TO ANYONE SEATED IN THE REAR SEAT BEHIND THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT. A SIMPLE FLAT WASHER OR OTHER REINFORCEMENT OF THE HOLES IN THE SEAT BASE SHEET METAL COULD PREVENT THIS MODE OF FAILURE. I RECOMMEND THAT ANY VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH SEATS OF THIS DESIGN HAVE THE SEATS INSPECTED FOR CRACKS IN THE SHEET METAL BASE, REPAIRED OR REPLACED IF NECESSARY, AND HAVE THE SEAT ATTACHMENT POINTS REINFORCED WITH HEAVY WASHERS. *TR

LEFT REAR TIRE FAILED AND BLEW OUT AT 70MPH. THE GOOD THING IS THE TIRE DEFLATED RAPIDLY WITH NO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ON INSPECTION OF TIRE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE INNER SIDE WALL HAD A RECTANGULAR RIP/PATCH FROM THE RIM TO THE TREAD. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR OTHER ROAD HAZARDS WHEN THE TIRE FAILED. ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 25000 MILES ON THEM. *TR
SUNNY DAY, DRY ROAD. AT THE STOP I HEARD A LOUD 'TOC' SOUND REAR RIGHT SIDE. FELT LIKE THE REAR OF THE CAR HAD SLID. I MADE MY RIGHT TURN AND ACCELERATED ON ROAD WHEN THE CAR STARTED SWAYING LEFT AND RIGHT, I COULD NOT KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD AND ENDED UP ON THE LEFT LANE (55M/HR ROAD). MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP IN PARKING LOT. MECHANIC SAID EXTREME CORROSION OF FRAME CAUSED SEPARATION OF THE AXLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE TORQUE. AXLE MOVED REARWARDLY TO LEAN AGAINST THE WING. *TR
THE IN-DASH HEATER/AC BLEND DOOR IS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING AIR FLOW NOT TO BE PROPERLY DIVERTED BETWEEN LOWER DASH VENTS, DASHBOARD VENTS AND DEFROSTER VENTS. THIS IS CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHEREBY THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT CLEAR IN RAINSTORMS AND WILL NOT STAY DEFROSTED IN WINTER DRIVING. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND ALONG WITH DISCUSSIONS WITH A LOCAL DEALER WORKING WITH JEEPS FOR MANY YEARS HAS LED ME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A LONG-KNOWN AND VERY COMMON DEFECT WITH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. PRICES TO REPLACE THIS BLEND DOOR HAVE RANGED FROM $1000 TO $1500 DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A VERY LABOR INTENSIVE REPLACEMENT. I CONTACT CHRYSLER ASSISTANCE AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT YOU TO IDENTIFY THIS SAFETY CONCERN SO THAT PERHAPS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) COULD BE ISSUED AND CHRYSLER WOULD ADDRESS THE DEFECTIVE BLEND DOOR FOR CONSUMERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *JS

AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ON THE MORNING OF TUESDAY, JUNE 5 AND HEARD A LOUD CLICKING SOUND COUPLED WITH A STICKING IN MY STEERING WHEEL AS I TURNED IT TO THE RIGHT. AS I CONTINUED TO MY DRIVE, I NOTICED THE CLICKING AND STICKING ALMOST EVERY TIME I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT (EVEN ON SLIGHT MOTIONS LIKE WHEN PARALLEL PARKING). I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR FEAR THE STEERING WOULD STICK AND I WOULD RAM INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. HE TOLD ME EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE ON THE OUTSIDE (NO SIGNS OF THE TYPICAL WEAR AND TEAR OR ANY OF THE COMMON LEAKAGE PROBLEMS). HOWEVER, HE SAID THIS WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. AFTER CAREFUL INSPECTION HE FOUND THE INTERIOR OF THE GEARBOX CRACKED. WHEN HE LOOKED UP THE PARTS HE SAW THAT THE 2000 AND 2001 STEERING GEAR HAD BEEN RECALLED AND INSTRUCTED ME TO TALK TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER (MY LOCAL DEALER IS THE FIGUEROA LOCATION IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES). WHEN I SPOKE WITH THEM, THEY INFORMED ME MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL PARAMETERS AS IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN DECEMBER 1999. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS FAR MORE REACHING THAN THE SMALL PARAMETERS OF THE DATES OF THE RECALLS. THE SAME PART (#52088272AD) HAS CAUSED THE SAME HAZARDOUS AND COSTLY PROBLEM (STICKING/BINDING/SEIZING) OVER A SPAN OF TWO YEARS OF JEEPS, 2000 AND 2001. THIS SAME PART WAS USED IN JEEPS IN SUBSEQUENT YEARS AS WELL. *JS

INITIAL HAPPENING DRIVING A SAFE SPEED AND CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DROVE TO NEAREST STATION...WHICH STARTED A SERIES OF PCM REPLACEMENTS. I NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE NOT NEW PCM'S THAT CAN BE INSTALLED. NOTHING BUT REFURBISHED ONES, SO EACH TIME I'M GETTING SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEMS. MAYBE NOT THE ORIGINAL ONE I HAD BUT EVENTUALLY ANOTHER ONE COMES UP...WHERE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2000 MODELS. MY REAL ISSUE IS THAT WHY DOESN'T THE CAR MANUFACTURE OFFER A NEW PCM TO INSTALL. NOW WAITING FOR THE NEXT CUTOFF...HAVE POURED TOO MUCH MONEY INTO THE CAR TO SELL. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES MY HOOD OPENED UP ON ITS OWN AND SLAMMED AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD WHICH CAUSED MY WINDSHIELD TO SHATTER. I WAS NEARLY IN MULTIPLE WRECKS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE 90 TO 95% OF MY WINDSHIELD WAS COVERED BY THE HOOD OF MY CAR. THIS WAS BY FAR THE SCARIEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER FACED. I NEARLY LOST MY LIFE ON THE FREEWAY. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY JEEP AT THE MOMENT AND HONESTLY PREFER NOT TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE. I STRONGLY FEEL LIKE SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE BUT ADVISED HER THAT WAS COMMON IN THAT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,200.
THE RIGHT FWD SEAT TRACK MOUNT HAS BROKEN ITS WELDS. THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF MY FAMILY ARE ALL NORMAL WEIGHT 195 AND UNDER AND THE VEHICLE IS USED MAINLY FOR ON ROAD TRIPS AND BARELY EVER TRAVELS OFF ROAD. DURING A INTERNET SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT SEAT TRACK THAT YIELDED NO RESULTS AND A DEALER VISIT WITH A QUOTE OF 400 DOLLAR FIX. I HAVE LOST ANY RESPECT FOR THE MANUFACTURER THAT SEEMS TO CUT CORNERS WHERE THEY CAN PUT THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN DANGER BY THE USE OF THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR THE LEFT REAR BLINKER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE HOUSING MELTING THE CONTACTS AND BURNING SO IT STOPS WORKING. THE TWO BACK DOORS WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEY REMOTE (VERY FRUSTRATING!) THE LEFT BACK DOOR WINDOW WILL STOP GOING UP AND DOWN AND WE ARE TOLD BY THE ONE THAT REPAIRED IT THAT THE WIRES FOR ALL OF THAT IS RUNNING THROUGH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HINGE FROM THE DASH AND GETS PINCHED OFF FROM BEING BENT! THE FRONT END WILL GROWL WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN, I HEAR A HOWLING FROM THE REAR END AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH AND UP. WHEN I COME TO A QUICK STOP AND MAKE A SHARP TURN IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THE REAR END SHIFTS FORWARD AN INCH OR TWO. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS GRABBED AND JERKED LIKE THEY WERE WARPED WHILE COMING TO A STOP. I HAVE OWNED IT FOR THREE YEARS AND HAVE HAD TO PUT TWO WATER PUMPS IN IT. THE WIPER WASHERS HAVE NEVER WORKED. THE SPARE TIRE WELL USE TO FILL UP WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINED AND ONE DAY MY HUSBAND PUT A SCREW IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BACK LICENSE PLATE AND IT STOPPED FILLING UP WITH WATER! MY BRAND NEW CD MAGAZINE HAS STOPPED WORKING AND I'M GUESSING ITS BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE DECK ITSELF. BEING RIGHT OVER THE REAR TIRE WELL THE VIBRATIONS HAVE PROBABLY WRECKED HAVOC ON THE PLAYERS EYE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH OVER HALF OF THE REPAIRS ON THIS JEEP HAVE COST US AT LEAST $1000.00 EACH. I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS AND I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR EVERY ONE OF THEM! NOW I THINK I AM SEEING WHAT LOOKS TO BE A LEAK FROM THE PLASTIC GAS TANK. I WANT TO KNOW WHY MY YEAR OF THIS JEEP, 2000, WAS SKIPPED OVER FROM THE RECALLS?
