THE HEATER ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DOES NOT WORK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE BLEND DOOR HAS FAILED. *NM
A/C , HEATER DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, SPORADIC AIR FLOW. *TR
WHILE USING THE HEAT ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL GET COLD AND NO HEAT WILL COME OUT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS JUST COLD AIR. I WENT TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER TO HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED, AND THEY SAID THAT THE PASSENGER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED,AND WERE GOING TO CHARGE $1,300.00 TO REPAIR AND REPLACE THE DAMAGED PARTS AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PART AND PROBLEM AND FROM JUST PUTTING THE PART NUMBERS (#05134349AA AUTO A/C MID CASE BLEND ASSEMBLY AND #05134347AA AUTO A/C AIR RECIRCULATION ASSEMBLY) INTO GOOGLE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MOST RECENT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES LAREDO AND LIMITED. I HAVE FOUND AT LEAST TWO JEEP FORUMS WHERE THIS PROBLEM IS POSTED. DAIMLER CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB (#24-001-04). I DO NOT SEE WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE OF RECALL OR FALLS UNDER ANY WARRANTY THAT IS PROVIDED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER. *JB
THE DEFROSTER SYSTEM BLOWS ONLY COLD AIR MAKING IT DIFFICULT(IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES) TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD. THIS ISSUE OCCURS REPEATEDLY ON COLD RAINING DAYS AND MAKES VISIBILITY OUT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD VERY POOR. THIS ISSUE COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. THE ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN IN 99-04 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WITH THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS. TO CORRECT THE ISSUE THE ENTIRE DASH, STEERING WHEEL, A/C EVAPORATOR AND HEATER CORE MUST BE REMOVED TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE BLENDER DOORS AND RECIRCULATION DOORS WHICH ARE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS IN 100% 99-04 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES VEHICLES QUIPPED WITH THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, SO THE PROBABILITY OF A DEATH(S) OCCURRING DUE TO THIS DEFECT ARE EXTRAORDINARILY HIGH. PLEASE TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC. *NM
THE DEFROSTER DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY DUE TO THE BLEND DOORS FAILING TO OPEN WHEN NEEDED. I SEE THIS AS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE IN COLD/ICY WEATHER HERE IN NEW ENGLAND. IT SEEM TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE JEEP SERVICE PEOPLE AND OTHER GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS. *JB
MY VEHICLE, JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2001 LIMITED ADDITION WITH AROUND 47,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER PERFORMED SATISFACTORILY UNTIL THIS MORNING WHEN MY WIFE WAS RETURNING FROM THE USUAL DROP-OFF OF MY SON TO THE PRESCHOOL. AS SHE WAS WAITING FOR THE GARAGE DOOR OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE WE LIVE WHILE HER FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR SUDDENLY SHOT UP AND CRASHED THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR AND CAME TO COMPLETE STOP 20 FEET FROM THE GATE. THIS HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE, FORTUNATELY, DID NOT CAUSE ANY PHYSICAL INJURY TO MY WIFE AND MY 15 MONTHS DAUGHTER SECURED IN THE BACK SEAT. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO INCOMING CAR NOR PEOPLE INJURED. HOWEVER, WE ARE AFRAID THAT THE VEHICLE WHICH SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGES TO THE BODY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY MORE PEACE OF MIND. IT IS DEFINITIVELY A WAKE-UP CALL FOR US TO SEARCH A MORE SAFE VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY. *JB
MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HEATER/AC BLEND DOORS ARE STUCK. I CANNOT DEFROST. THIS CAUSES DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHERE THE WIND SCREEN IS FOGGED, AND I CANNOT SEE THE ROAD. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE PULSATED, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHERE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED HOWEVER; THE PROBLEM RECURRED.

2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. BLEND DOORS FAIL AND HEATED AIR CANNOT BE DIRECTED TO THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING LACK OF VISIBILITY. I AM GETTING REPAIR ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. I UNDERSTAND THIS MAY COST OVER $1500.00. *JB
ROTORS, CALIPERS AND BRAKES NEED CUT OR REPLACED ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 4,000 MILES. AS OF THIS DATE, THIS IS MY 7TH TIME! A PULSATION IN BRAKING... THE MANUFACTURER HAS REPLACED OR CUT THE ROTORS 6 TIMES, THE DRIVE ONCE, THE CALIPERS ONCE AND THE BRAKES ONE OR TWO TIMES... I WENT TO AN INDEPENDENT ON 11-29-06 AND HAD 2 ROTORS REPLACED, 2 RESURFACED/CUT AND BRAKES REPLACED WITH 26,500 MILES ON VEHICLE. A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. *JB
2001 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH DUAL ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL. THANKSGIVING DAY, NOTICED THAT NO HEAT WAS COMING FROM PASSENGER SIDE VENTS. THERMOSTAT WAS SET TO 80 DEGREES. SHUT OFF CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT, RESTARTED, NO EFFECT. STOPPED AND SHUT DOWN CAR, RESTARTED, NO EFFECT. NO WARM AIR COMES THROUGH PASSENGER SIDE VENTS. DRIVERS SIDE WORKS FINE. CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WILL NOT SWITCH BETWEEN HOT AND COLD AIR. DRIVER IS COMFORTABLE, PASSENGER IS MISERABLE WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. *JB
ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL IN REVERSE. COULDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE. *JB
I GET NO HEAT COMING OUT OF THE VENTS, ONLY COLD AIR. IT WAS 10 DEGREES THIS MORNING AND I HAVE A 45 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK WITH NO HEAT. COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF I DIDN'T PARK IN A GARAGE. THERE WOULD BE NO WAY OF CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD OF ICE. WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME IT COULD BE AT A MINIMUM $1,200 TO FIX IT AND THEN THEY WON'T GUARANTEE IT WILL BE A PERMANANT FIX.*CN
AZC DOES NOT FUNCTION. CHRYSLER CERTIFIED AUTO REPAIR SHOP SAYS THE AZC NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. BIG $$$$ FOR A COMMON ISSUE. *TR
THERE WAS NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE DUE TO BLEND DOOR FAILURE. THEREFORE DEFROSTING THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY WAS NOT POSSIBLE. THIS WAS FOLLOWED SHORTLY BY A LEAKING HEATER CORE WHICH FILLED THE CAR WITH COOLANT MIST DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. THE BLEND DOORS ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE HEATER CORE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS. *JB
I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION THAT TOTALED MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WHILE I WAS 30 WEEKS PREGNANT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I SPENT THE WEEKEND IN THE HOSPITAL AS A RESULT, AND THE BABY NEEDED TO BE MONITORED BECAUSE I WAS HAVING CONTRACTIONS. I INFORMED DAIMLER CHRYSLER, THEY SENT A LETTER WITH A BROCHURE SHOWING WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT NEEDED TO BE FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, STATING THE CAR PERFORMED AS IT SHOULD HAVE. HOWEVER, IN THE BROCHURE, IT CLEARLY INDICATES WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT NEEDED TO BE FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, WHICH IS THE SAME AS WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS ON THE JEEP. I SENT A LETTER BACK TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER VIA CERTIFIED MAIL INDICATING THIS. I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THEM, AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. *JB
WHEN THE WEATHER STARTED GETTING COLDER, I TRIED TO USE THE HEAT AND I COULDN'T GET ANY HOT AIR TO DEFROST, WHEN MY WINDSHIELD BEGAN TO FROST AND FOG. WHILE DRIVING HOME, I HAD TO FIRST PULL OVER AND WIPE THE INTERIOR OF MY WINDSHIELD, THEN ON MY 21 MILE DRIVE HOME, I HAD TO CONSTANTLY WIPE THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE JEEP/CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS QUOTED OVER $1500 FOR THE REPAIR. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS TYPE OF REPAIR AND DO NOT HAVE ROOM ON MY CREDIT CARDS. I MANAGED TO PURCHASE THE PARTS AND DO THE REPAIR MYSELF, WITH MY JEEP OUT OF COMMISSION FOR OVER 2 WEEKS. I REPLACED THE HEATER CORE, RECIRC BLEND DOOR, THE MID-CASE BLEND DOOR, AND 2 ACTUATORS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS CAN BE A CONSISTENTLY AGGRAVATING PROBLEM AND DON'T LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING TO DO IT AGAIN. ESPECIALLY NOW THAT I HAVE A NEWBORN WHO WILL BE TRAVELING IN THE CAR. THIS CAN BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, IF THIS ENGINEERING DISCREPANCY IS NOT RESOLVED. AS FAR AS I KNOW, NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED...YET. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HAVE PICTURES OF ALL THE BAD PARTS AND DOCUMENTED REPAIRS THANK YOU. *NM
AFTER GOING THROUGH SOME ONLINE TROUBLESHOOTING, I JUST CONFIRMED THAT THE BLEND DOOR WENT BAD. AND YES IT IS NOT ONE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY 2001 LIMITED GRAND CHEROKEE JEEP. 8 MONTHS AGO THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE (AS IN ALL JEEPS), MY FOUR BRAKE CALIPERS WENT BAD BY JUST REPLACING THE OLD PADS, AND NOW THIS. ONE DAY, THE CAR JUST STARTED TO BLOW COLD AIR. BEFORE THAT, I COULD HEAR THE NOISES UNDER THE DASHBOARD BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE WAY IT SHOULD SOUND. I HAD MOST OF THE TIMES LIMITED HEAT IN MY SIDE AND MORE IN THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. I THOUGHT I'M TOO HOT FOR THE CAR AND THE SENSOR JUST PLAYS WITH ME. BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. FOR GOD SAKE, HOW DO YOU WANT TO SELL "HARDCORE" CARS, WHEN YOUR CARS FAIL TO WORK UNDER CLIMATE GARAGE KEPT CONDITIONS, AND DRIVEN MOSTLY ON A FLATLAND (FLORIDA) ON ROAD... YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR PRODUCTS. YOU SHOULD CALL THE CHEAP AND NOT JEEP. *NM

WHEN USING HEAT DURING THE FALL/WINTER MONTHS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, I CAN SMELL COOLANT FROM WITHIN THE CABIN. THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS ARE FOGGING REALLY, REALLY BAD THAT CAUSES VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. SOMETIMES HEAT COMES OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. INSTEAD, COLD AIR IS BLOWING ON THE WINDSHIELD. *NM
HEATER MALFUNCTIONED ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IT STOPPED PRODUCING HEAT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE, PASSENGER AND DRIVER. THUS PREVENTING THE DEFROSTER TO WORK AND LEADING TO ZERO VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING IN THE WINTER. FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ON THE WINDSHIELD PREVENTING THE DRIVER FROM SEEING THE ROAD. CONSEQUENTLY THIS WOULD CAUSE SERIOUSLY INJURIES, POSSIBLY DEATH FROM A CRASH. DEALER STATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IS PROBABLY A MALFUNCTIONING BLEND DOOR. DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THESE BLEND DOORS IT CREATES THE NEED TO FULLY REMOVE THE DASH FROM THE VEHICLE. WHICH IS VERY COSTLY FOR THE CONSUMER, COSTING NEAR $2000.00 DOLLARS TO FIX. *JB
HVAC BLEND DOORS BROKEN IN A POSITION SUCH THAT ONLY COLD AIR BLOWS FROM SYSTEM. THIS ALLOWS FOR NO DEFROST OF ANY OF THE FRONT WINDOWS POSING A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD DURING WINTER TRAVEL. THIS IS THE SECOND OF THIS BODY STYLE GRAND CHEROKEE (99-04) I HAVE OWNED, AND BOTH VEHICLES EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE BETWEEN 50K AND 60K MILES. THE FIRST VEHICLE (1999) WAS REPAIRED BY HERITAGE CHRYSLER JEEP IN OZARK, MO FOR ABOUT $1300.00. THE SECOND VEHICLE (2001) HAS JUST EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM OVER LAST WINTER AND IS NOW IN NEED OF REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION EXISTS DUE TO A POOR DESIGN FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND THAT THE THREAT INVOLVED FROM POTENTIAL LIMITED VISIBILITY IN THE WINTER, COUPLED WITH THE SIGNIFICANT COST OF REPAIR AND SAFETY CONCERNS, WARRANTS A RECALL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. SHE WAS UNABLE TO ROLL IT UP USING THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAILED. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. AS OF OCTOBER 26, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 12/12/07
NO HEAT PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSED BY POORLY MADE "BLEND DOOR "AND INSTALLED IN A MANNER THAT REQUIRES COMPLETE DASH REMOVAL AT A PRICE REACHING $1600. *NM
THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL DOOR AND ACTUATOR ON HEATER/AC FAILED AND ONLY BLOWS COOL AIR. THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL COST ABOUT $900 TO FIX AND SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. TOO MUCH TO FIX! *TR
I HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT POWER WINDOWS FAIL ON MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE. EACH TIME THE ENTIRE MOTOR MECHANISM HAS TO BE REPLACED AT $450.+ EACH AND ALL THAT IS WRONG IS A SMALL PLASTIC NUT ON THE END OF A METAL CORD. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. *JB
I WAS DRIVING ON A PUBLIC ROAD DOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE AN ILLEGAL LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. I HIT HIM STRAIGHT ON AND NEITHER THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG OR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I DRIVE A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I SUSTAINED SEVERE SPINAL INJURY THAT REQUIRED A SURGERY AND THE POSSIBILTY OF FUTURE SURGERY TO OTHER DISCS. *TR
AIR ONLY BLOWS ONE SPEED ONLY AT CONSTANT SPEED WHEN ACCELERATING AND CUTS OFF WHEN BRAKING. THE AIR ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR AND THE TEMP CAN NOT BE CHANGED. THE AIR/HEAT STARTED TO NOT WORK CORRECTLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIRST THEN REACHED THE DRIVERS SIDE. THERE IS LOUD CREAKING NOISES COMING FROM THE DASH WHEN THE UNIT IS TURNED ON OR WHEN THE CAR IS CUT OFF. IT CAN EVEN BE HEARD OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *NM
I OWN A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 2001. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAT AND DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK. THE PROBLEM MOST LIKELY HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED SOMETIME IN AUGUST, AND I TURNED THE HEAT ON IN SEPTEMBER. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO COVER ANY COST OF THE REPAIR. ALSO, AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I FOUND OUT IT WAS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP PRODUCTS. REPAIR THE PROBLEM IS EXPENSIVE AND RISKY. AN ATTEMPTED REPAIR COULD CAUSE ELECTRICAL AND COOLANT PROBLEMS. IT SEEMED TO RANGE IN COST FROM $1000.00 TO $2000.00. I RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE IN THE $2000.00 RANGE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PLASTIC COVERING ON BOTH HEADLIGHTS BECAME PROGRESSIVELY MORE FOGGED AND DISCOLORED TO THE POINT OF BEING NEARLY OPAQUE. THIS CAUSED THE INTENSITY OF THE HEADLIGHTS TO DIMINISH. A SERVICE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND DETERMINED NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 12/1/2006 - *NM

HEATER FAILURE CAUSES THE WINDSHIELD TO FOG OVER AND SINCE THERE IS NO HEAT IT WON'T DEFOG IT. THIS CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO WIPE THE WINDSHIELD WITH MY HANDS/NAPKINS. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC OR AT NIGHT. *NM
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATING ON THE 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED QUIT WORKING. *AK
DESCRIPTION : I OWN A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 100,000 MILES. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WERE (1) RAPID FOGGING OF FRONT WINDSHIELD,(2) FOGGING OF FRONT PASSENGER WINDOWS,(3) FAILURE OF PASSENGER HEAT WHILE STILL MAINTAINING DRIVER HEAT FUNCTION, AND (4) ONLY COLD AIR RELEASE ON PASSENGER SIDE OF JEEP. CONSEQUENTLY,(1) THE WINDSHIELD AND FRONT WINDOWS DO NOT DEFOG, AND (2) NO HEAT WHATSOEVER COMES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AND DASHBOARD VENTILATION SYSTEM. TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, A "BLEND AIR DOOR" IS NECESSARY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,200 INCLUSIVE OF 7 HOURS OF LABOR. ACCORDING TO THE CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND ONLINE FORUMS, THIS HAS BECOME A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2000-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITEDS WITH DUEL ZONE VENTILATION SYSTEMS. *TR
VENTILATION SYSTEM IN 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE BLOWING COLD AIR AND JUST NOT FUNCTIONING. WHEN WINDOWS WERE FOGGED THE SYSTEM WILL NOT CLEAR WINDOW AND COULD BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD.*AK
THE HVAC SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE QUIT SUPPLYING HEAT TO THE DEFROSTER VENTS AND PASSENGER SIDE VENTS. ON COLD MORNINGS IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CLEAR THE MOISTURE AND FROST FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS. OFTEN TIMES I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THEM FOGGED UP DUE TO THE DEFROSTER NOT WORKING. THE CAUSE WAS DETERMINED TO BE BROKEN BLEND DOORS AND FAILED MOTORS INSIDE THE HVAC SYSTEM. I HAD TO PAY MY LOCAL DEALER $400 TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED BECAUSE I COULD NOT DRIVE SAFELY WITHOUT THE DEFROST WORKING. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER BLEND DOORS AND MOTORS AND THE MODE DOOR AND MOTOR. THE DEALER DECIDED TO PAY FOR THE LABOR BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. OTHERWISE IT WOULD OF COST ME $1000 TO FIX. THIS FAILURE IS VERY COMMON ON THE LIMITED AND OVERLAND (1999-2004) MODELS THAT HAVE THE DUAL ZONE HVAC SYSTEM. IT IS ALSO ANNOYING THAT THE DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURE KNOW THIS IS COMMON AND DON'T ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL. *NM
I HAD A SLOW LEAK IN MY REAR TIRES , SO I WENT TO GET THEM PLUGGED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RIMS HAD RUSTED THROUGH THE BACK TIRES AND PUNCTURED THE TIRES. I COULD NOT GET INTO A JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR TWO WEEKS SO MY MECHANIC ORDERED A NEW RIM (JEEP PART) AND TWO NEW TIRES SO THAT I COULD DRIVE SAFELY. JEEP REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY BASED ON THE FACT THAT I HAD MY OWN MECHANIC REPLACE THE TIRES. I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE WAITED TWO WEEKS. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT GOING TO RISK DRIVING ON A FAULTY RIM AND TIRES. I STILL HAVE THE RUSTED OUT RIMS AND PUNCTURED TIRES THAT JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 20 MPH, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, AND IT WAS NOTICED THERE WAS A DENT ON THE HOOD. WHEN THE HOOD WAS RAISED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FAN FRACTURED CAUSING THE DENT AND THE HOLE IN THE RADIATOR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAN, FAN SHROUD, AND RADIATOR.
NO HOT HEAT OR DEFROST ON PASSENGER SIDE OF 2001 GC LTD HAD EXTENDED WARANTEE HAD TO PAY 300 DEDUCABLE.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP THEN WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL IN THE COURSE OF 2 DAYS. THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED BY THE TORQUE CONVERTOR "COMPLETELY BREAKING APART" PER THE TRANSMISSION SHOP RESULTING IN THE COMPLETE TRANSMISSION HAVING TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT AT 83,000 MILES. *JB
THE LEFT POWER WINDOW FAILED. I HAVE ONLY 50,000 MILES AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE COST IS $450.00. ON THE EVENING BEFORE THIS INCIDENT, I HAD ALL WINDOWS UP. BUT ON THE NEXT MORNING THE LEFT WINDOW WAS DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. THE MECHANIC KNEW THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE I COULD FINISH EXPLAINING WHAT WAS WRONG. THE POWER MECHANISM HAD FAILED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE WINDOW COULD DOWN WHEN THE MECHANISM FAILS. THIS TELLS ME THAT A LOT REPORTS TO REPAIR THE POWER WINDOWS. OF COURSE NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BY CHYRSLER. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING FOR THE PRICING HOW MUCH IT WAS GOING TO COST ME. THAT'S ODD! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A MECHANIC AND HE DID NOT HAVE TO GET A PRICING ON THE PARTS AND THEN ADD IN THE LABOR. THIS MECHANIC HAD ALL THE COSTS BUILT INTO HIS HEAD. THE POWER WINDOW MECHANISM IS DEFECTED AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BRAKING THE STEERING COLUMN VIBRATED. THE HARDER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED THE MORE THE STEERING COLUMN VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2003 AND THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE VIBRATION RETURNED AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED IN A SALT BELT STATE. UPDATED 10/25/2006 - *NM

I TURNED ON MY HEAT ONE DAY AND IT WAS ONLY COLD AIR. TOOK IT TO JEEP THEY SAID IT WAS A BLEND DOOR AND A COMMON PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS MOUNTED INTO THE FRAME WITH A PLASTIC PART THAT FAILED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER AUTHORIZED THE SERVICE DEALER TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART ON THE FRONT LEFT WINDOW. THE PLASTIC PART HAD FAILED ON THE LEFT REAR WINDOW, FRONT RIGHT WINDOW AND A SECOND TIME ON THE FRONT LEFT WINDOW.
BLEND DOOR PROBLEMS. VERY COLD AIR BLOWING INSTEAD OF HEAT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE PAVEMENT. THE CONTACT DETERMINED THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD A LEAK, AND REPLACED THE POWER STEERING HOSE. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 09/22/06. 8JB
