TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH IN REVERSE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POP COMING FROM HER VEHICLE. SHE DISCOVERED THAT THE PLASTIC FAN BLADE ON THE RADIATOR FAN SEPARATED. THE FAILURE CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE RADIATOR AS WELL AS SOME OTHER PARTS TO WHICH THE CONTACT COULD NOT RECALL. THE REPAIR WILL COST $600. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. DAIMLER CHRYSLER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR WHEN SHE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # F25 (ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD HAVE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND REFRAINED FROM DRIVING. THE CONTACT WENT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR THE REPAIR, BUT NEITHER WERE TAKING ANY APPOINTMENTS. SHE FEELS THAT SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT GET AN APPOINTMENT FROM THE DEALER. THE ENGINE SIZE AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 73,000.
JEEP PARKED IN THE GARAGE NO ONE IN IT AND WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN THE AUTO POSITION THE LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF BY THEM SELVES. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF WITH THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER. SOMETIMES THEY STAY ON ALL NIGHT AND WHEN YOU COME OUT TO LEAVE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEMS SENSE IT WAS NEW. THE DEALER SAID THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT IS THERE WHEN I BRING IT IN. HOW MANY TIMES IT HAPPENS I'M NOT SURE UNLESS I'M IN THE GARAGE AT THE TIME IT HAPPENS. *TR
THE DUAL-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL ON THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND STOPPED WORKING. THE 2 VENTS IN THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD RESPOND TO THE CLIMATE CONTROL SETTINGS, AND BLOW THE APPROPRIATE TEMPERATURE AIR. THE REMAINING 3 VENTS IN THE DASH, AND 2 ADDITIONAL FLOOR VENTS ONLY BLOW AIR THAT IS THE TEMPERATURE OF THE OUTSIDE AIR. , IN THE SUMMER TIME, 2 VENTS BLOW COLD AIR, AND THE REMAINING 5 BLOW HOT AIR. AND IN THE WINTER, THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS; 2 VENTS BLOW WARM AIR, AND THE REMAINING 5 BLOW COLD AIR. THIS WAS MY SECOND GRAND CHEROKEE THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND MY BROTHER'S GRAND CHEROKEE HAS ALSO HAD THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. UPON SPEAKING WITH DEALERS, IT SEEMS LIKE HUNDREDS OF TRUCKS NEED TO HAVE THIS IDENTICAL ISSUE FIXED. IT WAS RELATED TO THE BLEND DOORS, WHICH ERE PART OF THE DUAL ZONE SYSTEM. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER WINDOWS FAILED TO OPERATE AND ALL OF THEM WOULD ROLL DOWN INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE WINDOWS WERE PUSHED UP MANUALLY AND A PIECE OF CARDBOARD WAS STUCK IN BETWEEN THE WINDOWS AND THE RUBBER TO PREVENT THEM FROM FALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STARTED MAKING HORRIBLE "WOBBLE" NOISES FROM REAR OF VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. PAID $660 TO REPLACE COMPLETELY WORN (ALL) BEARINGS. REPAIR SHOP (PROGREAR, SAN DIEGO, CA) SAID THIS WAS A VERY COMMON REPAIR IN ZJ GRAND CHEROKEES. *JB
PASSENGER WINDOW MOTOR BROKE. THIS WAS THE THIRD WINDOW MOTOR TO BREAK WITHIN 2 YEARS. *TR
HVAC SYSTEM DIED, BLEND DOORS AND RECIRC DOORS LOCATED UNDER DASH HAVE FAILED, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE, $2000 TO FIX, CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THIS PROBLEM AS EVERY GRAND CHEROKEE EXPERIENCES IT. SO UNTIL FIXED NO VENTILATION, NOTABLE DEFROST SO WINDSHIELD FOGS UP CAUSING UNSAFE VISIBILITY. *TR
I OWN A 2002 JEEP GC LIMITED, THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR, MY MECHANIC HAD TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM, BUT THAT CHRYSLER MOTORS HAS NOT YET ISSUED ANY KIND OF RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT EVENTUALLY THE DRIVER SIDE WILL ALSO FAIL, BECAUSE THE DEFECTIVE PART IS POORLY MADE. *TR
THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ON 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 65000 MILES ON IT. I JUST HAD IT REPAIRED AT A COST OF OVER $1000 AND IT WAS STILL MAKING NOISES THAT LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT WILL FAIL AGAIN. IT WASNACCEPTABLE THAT A CAR COMPANY WITH AS MUCH EXPERIENCE AS DAIMLER CHRYSLER COULD NOT DESIGN A QUALITY HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED BACKWARDS. THE DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE FAVORABLE DURING BOTH FAILURES. PRIOR TO THESE FAILURES, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY AND HAD NO PREVIOUS REPAIR WORK. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 77,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT, WHO IS A MECHANIC, INSPECTED HIS VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT THE TOP CONNECTOR OF THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD FAILED AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
AS ROLLING UP POWER WINDOW DRIVER DOOR LOUD POP WHICH STARTED ME. ATTEMPTED TO ROLL BACK DOWN AND MOVED SLOWLY SO LET UP ON CONTROL BUTTON. WINDOW SLOWLY SLID INTO DOOR. *JB

EVENTS LEADING UP TO FAILURE: NORMAL USAGE OF VEHICLE CABIN COMFORT AND SAFETY CONTROLS (AIR CONDITIONING/DEMISTER) SYSTEMS. FAILURE: CABIN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM NOW DOES NOT REGULATE TEMPERATURE. THE SYSTEM CANNOT BE MADE TO USE HOT OR COLD AIR ON DEMAND. IN INVESTIGATING THIS FAILURE, IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT 99% OF ALL OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE REPORT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE OF THE 'TEMPERATURE BLEND CONTROL DOORS' WITHIN THE 'A/C BLEND ASSEMBLY'. CONSEQUENCES: THE VEHICLE DEMISTER IS UNABLE TO CLEAR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD OF MIST/FOGGING (EFFECTIVELY, DEPENDING ON OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE). CORRECTIONS: NO CORRECTIONS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED DUE TO COST PROHIBITIVE EXPENSE TO DO SO. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS QUOTE A PRICE OF AROUND $1800.00 TO REPAIR THE FAILURE, WHILE OBTAINING PARTS AND PERFORMING SELF-REPAIR WILL COST UPWARDS OF $300.00 PLUS TIME SPENT. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE DRIVES THE 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 105000 FAILURE MILEAGE) AT NIGHT OR IN THE MORNING A THE WINDOWS GET FOGGED, THE DEFROST ONLY WORKED ON HALF OF THE WINDOW. ONE SIDE BLEW OUT COLD AIR, AND THE OTHER SIDE BLEW OUT HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT ONE OF THE BEND DOORS FAILED AND JAMMED THE OTHER ONES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY SAW THIS PROBLEM OFTEN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106423.*AK
THE HEATING SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE HAS A PART THAT HAS GONE OUT AND IS 1,300 TO FIX WHEN JEEP KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEATING IN THE YEARS 1999 TO 2004 WHEN THE WINDOWS FOG UP YOU CAN ONLY DEFROST ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THE OTHER YOU CAN'T SEE OUT WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH WHICH COULD BE DEADLY. *JB
VENTILATION SYSTEM MAKING NOISE BEHIND DASHBOARD. WHEN THE A/C UNIT IS OFF, ONCE I SHUT OFF VEHICLE, NO NOISE WILL BE HEARD, HOWEVER AFTER RUNNING A/C, WHEN SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE, A MOANING OR CREAKING SOUND IS HEARD, EVERYTIME. I HAVE READ THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY MANY OTHERS. POSSIBLE "BLEND DOOR" PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN COLD ENVIRONMENTS OR EXTREMELY HOT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A HVAC SYSTEM BREAKING AND THEN HAVE TO PAY 1500.00 FOR REPAIR. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHRYSLER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING AND THE FAN WAS VIBRATING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE CONTACT HAD THE FAN ASSEMBLY REPLACED, AND APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER HE RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE FAN ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT MAILED THE RECEIPTS TO DAIMLERCHRYSLER. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THAT THE FAN BLADES DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS THE REPAIR INVOICE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 115000. AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE JEEP HAS RAN PERFECT SINCE THE REPAIR BUT DAIMLER CHRYSLER REFUSES TO HONOR THEIR RECALL NOTICE. UPDATED 08/13/07 *TR

1)UNKNOWN, PURCHASED AS PRE-OWNED 2)VEHICLE WON'T START RIGHT AWAY, TURN KEY TO START THEN WAIT APPROX 10 SECONDS AND TRY AGAIN, TYPICALLY WILL THEN START, ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS WOULD COME ON. ON TWO OCCASIONS VEHICLE WAS TOWED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WENT HAYWIRE, NO GAUGES, POWER WINDOWS AND LOCKS DID NOT WORK. HEAT/AC BLOWER RANDOMLY WORKS. 3)COMPUTER WAS REPLACED, STARTER WAS REPLACED, IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, BUT MUCH MORE INFREQUENTLY. WAS ADVISED BY PHIL LONG JEEP REPAIR THAT THERE IS NO PART AVAILABLE TO REPAIR BLOWER ON HEAT/AC UNIT. WINDOWS FOG AND FREEZE, NO VISIBILITY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR MANY MONTHS. COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURRED SOMETIME IN MARCH 2007. *TR

ON MARCH 7, 2007, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IN MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO SUDDENLY FAILED-GAS GAUGE, SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, BATTERY LEVEL, TEMPERATURE GAUGE ETC ALL INOPERATIVE. ON MARCH 8, 2007 MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS EVENT WAS COVERED UNDER CHRYSLER RECALL 994. TODAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED IN 2002 AND SO THEY WERE UNABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL AGAIN. HOWEVER, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO MY CAR BEFORE AND I DID NOT REQUEST THAT RECALL BE PERFORMED IN 2002. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY NEED TO CHARGE ME $85.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. HE ALREADY KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM DRIVING! *JB
POWER STEERING HOSE DEVELOPED A LEAK DUE TO POOR DESIGN WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF ASSIST ,VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS WHERE THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND PRESSURE HOSE WERE REPLACED. DEALER WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE COST. *JB

TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING THE 2002 JEEP GRAND AT 45 MPH ON CLEAR ROAD CONDITIONS THE AIR CONDITIONER STARTED TO BLOW COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN HE TURNED ON THE HEATER. ALSO CAUSED COLD AIR TO BLOW ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE COLD AIR BLEW ONTO THE WINDSHIELD THAT CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO FREEZE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD ONCE IT FROZE. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE HEATER OFF IT CONTINUED TO BLOW COLD AIR AS LONG AS THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAD 59000 MILES.*AK
I BOUGHT A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED IN DECEMBER OF 06. MARCH 2ND I BROUGHT MY CAR TO A MECHANIC BECAUSE MY WINDOW WOULD SLOWLY GO DOWN, AND THEN WOULD NOT GO UP WITHOUT MY ASSISTANCE. WHEN THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE CAR, IT WAS MY WINDOW REGULATOR THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I HAD IT FIXED FOR $328.00. *JB
DEFROSTER AND DEFOGGER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. LIMITED VISIBILITY DUE TO FOGGY WINDOWS. NEED TO HAVE BLEND DOORS REPLACED. *JB
IN FEB. MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW QUIT WORKING AND STARTED FALLING DOWN NOW MY DRIVERS SIDE BACK WINDOW IS DOING THE SAME. THE TRANS WENT OUT LAST MONTH AND I ONLY HAVE 80,000 MILES. ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE MIRRORS ARE BROKEN. MY JEEP IS FALLING APART. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. IT WILL COST ME THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX MY TRANS . MY WINDOWS ARE HELD IN PLACE WITH CARD BOARD PIECES AND MY MIRROR ALSO MY JEEP LOOKS LIKE JUNK. *TR
UPPER STEERING COLUMN BEARING FAILED. DRIVING BECAME DIFFICULT. LEFT BLINKER WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN I TURNED INTO A RIGHT HAND EXIT LEAVING THE HIGHWAY. JEEP DEALER SAID THE WORN OUT BEARINGS GOT INTO THE TURN INDICATOR MECHANISM. *JB
THE BRAKES ON 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE ARE VERY SUSPECT. THE DEALER REPLACED THEM UNDER WARRANTY AT 24,000 MILES DUE TO WARPAGE OF ROTORS. AT 54,000 MILES THE ROTORS WERE TURNED BECAUSE OF WARPAGE AND NOW AT 62,000 THEY EXHIBIT SYMPTOMS OF BEING WARPED AGAIN - WORSE THAN BEFORE THEY WERE LAST TURNED. JEEP HAS OBVIOUSLY ONLY REPLACED DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS. THIS CREATES COST, INCONVENIENCE AND POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD TO THE CONSUMER.*JB
MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED EDITION SUV HAS HAD A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE IN THE HVAC UNIT. THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS ONLY BLOW OUT COLD AIR, AS IF THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, BUT THE TEMPERATURE IS SET ON HIGH. THE DRIVER SIDE VENTS BLOW OUT AIR ACCORDING TO THE CONTROLS BUT THE SPEED OF THE AIR IS WEAK, EVEN THOUGH THE CONTROLS ARE SET ON HIGH. *NM
WHEN HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE AUTO SETTING THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY AND STAY ON FOR A WHILE. VEHICLE IS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING. *JB
DRIVING THROUGH ANOTHER STATE IN SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES, MY HEATER IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT NOTICE, STOPPED WORKING IN MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I COULD NOT PROCEED FURTHER, AS I HAD IN THE VEHICLE OLDER PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE TOO SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE COLD. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER WHO TOLD ME THEY HAVE FIXED OVER 16 OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE BLEND DOORS AT $1000 FOR THE COST TO FIX IT. *NM
COMPLAINT # 10179028 - BLEND DOOR - DENSO'S HVAC SYSTEM IS SUBSTANDARD AND AN EXPENSIVE FIX; NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTIES. *NM
I TOO HAVE PURCHASED ONE OF THE JUNK VEHICLES WITH IT'S UN-USABLE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY PASSENGER SIDE HEAT WENT OUT FIRST AND NOW ALL MY HEAT IS GONE. I DON'T FEEL THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY ANYONE WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. ALL OF US WHO HAVE BEEN DUPED BY CHRYSLER SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER. I DO KNOW ONE THING FOR SURE. THIS IS THE LAST CHRYSLER VEHICLE I WILL EVER OWN! *JB
I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY JEEP GRCHER LAREDO-VIN 1J4GX58S82C29XXXX TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC FAN BELT. THE DEALER TAMIAMI CHRYSLER JEEP MIAMI FL, CLAIMED THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK. AFTER THREE CALL OVER A TWO MONTH PERIOD, NO RESPONSE FORM THE DEAL TO FIX. IN THE MEANTIME THE FAN BELT FRACTURED AND SEPARATED AND DAMAGED THE RADIATOR. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT CHARGED US $387.34. *NM
MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FIRST LOST HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAT WOULD NOT WORK AS WELL. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE BLEND DOORS ACTUATORS WERE NOT WORKING AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $800-$1000. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. PLEASE ADVISE. *JB
HEATING SYSTEM NO LONGER DEFROSTED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD PROPERLY. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON JEEPS EQUIPPED WITH DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. BLENDER DOORS IN THE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM FAILED AND AS A RESULT. PROPER HEAT WAS NOT ATTAINABLE TO DEFROST FRONT WINDSHIELD. THIS WAS HAZERDOUS, AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH IF THE DRIVER'S VISION OF THE ROAD BWAS IMPAIRED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC FAN BLADES OF THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN WERE OVERHEATING. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED PRIOR TO RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE AND THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED. HE SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE RECALL WORK WAS ALREADY DONE. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT OFFER REIMBURSEMENT. THE RECALL # WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 90,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE TRIED TO OBTAIN A COPY OF THE RECEIPT FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BUT WAS INFORMED AFTER SENDING OVER THE RECEIPT TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER THAT THE RECEIPT PROVIDED WAS NOT ENOUGH. THE CONSUMER THEN TRIED TO OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION FOR DRIVETIME BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONSUMER WANTS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 08/02/07 *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 2-30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN IT WAS TURNED. THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND MANEUVERABILITY. WHEN FLUID WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING AND GRINDING NOISE RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FAILED. THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THIS IS A COMPLAINT ON THE DAIMLER CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT I WENT TO HAVE THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN REPLACED DUE TO THE SAFETY RECALL F25. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 8:00 AM AT SOUTH BAY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE ON 20900 HAWTHORNE BLVD., TORRANCE, CA 90503. BASED ON THE LETTER I RECEIVED I KNEW SERVICE WOULD TAKE APPROX 1.5 HOURS. THE SERVICE MANAGER RAYMOND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE READY IN 2 HOURS. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAD A BUSINESS APPOINTMENT AT 2:00 PM THAT I COULD NOT MISS AND I WAS REASSURED THAT MY CAR WOULD DEFINITELY BE READY IN TIME. WHEN MY VEHICLE WASN'T READY AT 12:00 PM, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TREATED VERY RUDELY BY THE SERVICE RECEPTIONIST. I WAS TOLD THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED WORKING ON MY CAR AND THAT RAYMOND WENT TO LUNCH AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL HE RETURNED AT 1:15 PM TO GET AN UPDATE. I TOLD HER THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE, THAT IT HAD ALREADY BEEN 4 HOURS AND I NEEDED MY CAR. SHE TOLD ME THAT I COULD COME GET MY CAR BECAUSE THEY HADN'T STARTED WORKING ON IT YET, BUT WITHOUT BEING SERVICED. I WAS OKAY WITH THAT. ONCE I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY TAKEN APART AND UNDRIVEABLE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED. A TWO HOUR JOB TURNED INTO A 9 HOUR JOB AND IT SEVERELY AFFECTED MY TIME. I WAS NOT OFFERED AN APOLOGY, YET WAS TREATED VERY RUDELY FOR BEING A NUISANCE TO THEM. *JB

NO HEAT OR DEFROSTER ON 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE BLEND MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT COST OF MORE THAN $900.00. *NM
ON JANUARY 22, 2007, I HEARD A "CRACKING" NOISE UNDER THE DASH AS I STARTED MY JEEP IN THE MORNING. LATER THAT MORNING IT BECAME APPARENT THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO GET ANY HEAT IN THE CABIN, NOR WAS IT POSSIBLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER TRYING VARIOUS SETTINGS, ALL THAT CAN BE ACHIEVED IS TO BLOW COLD (AMBIENT) AIR (CURRENTLY 4F) OUT OF THE VARIOUS VENTS/DEFROSTER. THIS DOES VERY, VERY LITTLE TO REMOVE FROST FROM THE WINDSHIELD. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEATER CORE HAS BEGUN FAILING. THIS RELEASES ADDITIONAL MOISTURE INTO THE CABIN, CAUSING EVEN WORSE FOGGING (FROSTING THIS TIME OF YEAR). THIS COMBINATION OF FAILURES RENDERS THE DEFROSTER TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE, AND REQUIRES THE DANGEROUS ACT OF WIPING OR SCRAPING THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW ABOUT EVERY 5 MINUTES UNDER NORMAL WINTER CONDITIONS. I AM INFORMED THAT THIS CONDITION IS CAUSED BY THE BREAKAGE OF "MIX DOORS" IN THE HVAC SYSTEM, A KNOWN DEFECTIVE "WEAK PART" THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING REPLACED (AT CUSTOMER EXPENSE) ON VIRTUALLY ALL 1999-2004 GRAND CHEROKEES WITH AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROLS. BREAKAGE OF THESE PARTS CAN CONSTITUTE A SERIOUS HAZARD, AND SHOULD BE A REQUIRED RECALL BY DC. I HAVE HAD TO UNDERTAKE THIS REPAIR MYSELF - A HUGE TASK, AS I DO NOT HAVE THE $1800 TO HAVE THE DEALER REPAIR IT. *JB
