FACTORY 17" ROUGE CHROME PLATED WHEELS HAVE HAIRLINE CRACKS IN THE CHROME BETWEEN THE SPOKES. DO NOT KNOW IF SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THIS CRACKING OF THE CHROME MAY BE STRESS CRACKS IN THE ALUMINUM WHEEL. THE CAR A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ONLY HAS 9,000 MILES ON IT. JEEP DEALER SAYS THE CRACKING CHROME/WHEEL IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BUT STOPS SHORT OF TELLING ME WHY IT HAPPENED AND IF IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. *JB
TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND WHEN THE TECHNICIAN CHANGED THE TIRES, THERE WAS RUST TEARING UP THE CHROME ON THE BRAKE PADS. THIS WAS COMPARED TO SALT, WEARING DOWN THE CHROME. IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD, CONSIDERING THE VEHILCE WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD.*AK
1999/2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4(BOTH) SAME PROBLEM(S). WARPED ROTORS/HUB CHRYSLER,SOUTH,MILWAUKEE,WI REPLACED SETS OF ROTORS/PADS ON 1999 - TWICE/2002- TWICE SO FAR. 2002 HAS 24,000, REPLACED WHEN AT 8500/18,000. CHRYSLER JUST WON'T ADMIT TO PROBLEM. JUST REPLACED TIRES DUE TO UNEVEN FRONT TIRE WEAR($300+) TIRED OF IT! TRIED TO SAY I HADN'T ROTATED TIRES. THAT'S A JOKE - RELIGIOUSLY ROTATE TIRES NO MORE THAN 5,000 MI PRIOR TO EACH ROTATION. *AK
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH AND THE OTHER 3 TIRES FORMED BUBBLES IN THE SIDEWALL. MANUFACTURER REPLACED ALL TIRES, INCLUDING THE SPARE TIRE. *AK THERE WERE BUBBLES ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. *SCC *JB
I HAD THE FRONT ROTORS REPLACED AT 9000 MILES DUE TO BRAKE PULSATING. I NOW HAVE 17000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES ARE PULSATING AGAIN.*AK
ON 9/9/03, THE DEALER SAYS THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN ON MY JEEP. IN 11/02, THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS FOR THE TSB. IS IS 9/03 AND THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN. THE JEEP HAS 17,000 MILES. THIS IS ABSURD.*AK
LIKE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE JUST READ, MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VIBRATES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, ESPECIALLY HIGHWAY DRIVING (FAST DECELERATION).*AK
WHENEVER THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO FUEL THE VEHICLE FUEL SPILLED ONTO THE GROUND. THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE FUEL FILLER NECK AND THE CANISTER ASSEMBLY. THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THEY WERE OBLIGATED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS ONCE, THEN CONSUMER HAS TO PAY FOR ANY OTHER REPAIRS. *AK
MY JEEP IS ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF OLD AND I ALREADY HAVE TO REPLACE THE DOOR\REGULATOR MOTOR FOR THE POWER WINDOW. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 39,000 MILES AND THAT'S 3,000 MORE THAN THE WARRANTY COVERS. I ORDERED THE PART FROM THE LOCAL DEALER AND ITS ON A MONTH BACK ORDER. I ASKED THE DEALER IF THAT MIGHT BE A RED FLAG THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM!. *AK
I HAVE A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT I BOUGHT NEW LAST SEPTEMBER. I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKES. LAST MARCH BECAUSE IT WAS NECESSARY TO PUMP THEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT I WAS PROBABLY DEFEATING THE ABS, AND THAT'S WHY THEY DEPRESSED SO FAR TO THE FLOOR. TODAY I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL SQUEAKING. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS "NORMAL" AND THAT IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER. I ASKED IF WAS NORMAL, WOULD IT THEN BE ON MOST OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW BUT THOUGHT IT WAS. THEY THEN SAID THAT MAYBE THERE WAS A PROBLEM THAT JEEP NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT. THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE THIS SEEMS TO BE ONGOING. THE FRONT BRAKES ON THE 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (LAREDO) HAD A HEATING PROBLEM THAT WAS WARPING THE BRAKE ROTOR. JEEP APPARENTLY ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO ITS AUTHORIZED REPAIR FACILITIES INDICATING THAT THE ROTORS, PADS, AND CALIPERS WERE GENERATING EXCESSIVE HEAT BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH GAS WAS BEING VENTED OFF DURING BRAKING. THE TSB ADVISED TO REPLACED THE ROTORS, PADS, AND CALIPERS. WHEN WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER ABOUT SOME VIBRATION IN THE DRIVE TRAIN DURING BRAKING, WE WERE SIMPLY TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FURTHER QUESTIONS LED US TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, WHICH WAS THE TOPIC OF THE TSB. JEEP CLAIMED IT WAS NOT A "PROBLEM", AND THEY SAID AS IT WAS RELATED TO THE BRAKES, IT WAS NO LONGER A WARRANTY ITEM. THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE SEEING THIS PROBLEM ON "A LOT" OF 2002'S. I FEEL THAT THEY ARE NOT TELLING CONSUMERS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THEY ARE JUST REPLACING THE ITEMS, BILLING THE CONSUMER FOR THE COST OF THE ROTORS, AND CALLING IT GOOD. IN MY OPINION, A PROPERLY MANUFACTURED SYSTEM SHOULD NOT LEAD TO BRAKE ROTOR WARPING UNDER NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS JEEP HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT, AND THE PADS SHOW THE AMOUNT OF WEAR I WOULD EXPECT AT THIS STAGE. WHEN I QUESTIONED JEEP CORPORATE ABOUT THE ISSUE, THEY ADVISED THAT SINCE NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED, THEY SEE NO NEED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT. I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE QUIETLY REPLACING THESE BRAKE CALIPERS,PADS, AND ROTORS WITHOUT TELLING THE CONSUMER, JUST SO THAT NO COMPLAINTS ARE FILED, AND THEN, NO RECALL. BRAKES ARE A CRUCIAL SAFETY FACTOR IN A FAMILY VEHICLE, AND MY COMPLAINT IS THAT JEEP SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT BETTER. THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN FLAW, WHICH THEY EVEN RECOGNIZE (THUS, THE TSB).*AK
THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE SERVICED THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKES. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AGAIN.*AK
BRAKES SHUTTER WHEN APPLIED. DEALER SAYS WARPED ROTORS/ CALIPERS, & PADS NEED REPLACEMENT, JEEP IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY ,AND THEY WANT A SMALL FORTUNE TO REPAIR A KNOW DEFECT. THIS IS A SAFTY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *AK
THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE WHEN PUMPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE PADS WERE REPLACED THE PADS AND THE ROTORS BECAUSE OF A SEAL LEAK. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT PUT ON PROPERLY. THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS AGAIN AND THEY SAID THAT THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURE HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *LA
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING SHOCK ABSORBER WERE LEAKING FLUID. *AK
FACTOLRY= "LEMON" LEFT THE FACTORY; MINUS HEADGASKETS!!! POSSIBLE "FIRETRAP"!!!*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A BRAKE PROBLEM. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE PULSATING AND WHIPPED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. CONSUMER TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS TOLD THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED, AND THEY WON'T REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGING THE CONSUMER. *AK THERE HAS BEEN A FRONT BRAKE ROTOR PROBLEM SINCE 3/06/02. FAULTY GEN 3 SEATBELTS. SEATBELT UNLATCHED FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. THIS WAS NOTICED AFTER MY CHILD HAD RIDDEN IN HIS CAR SEAT FOR SEVERAL MILES.*AK

AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG HARNESS SHORT CIRCUITED. RELATED RECALL 02V099000, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
I FIRST BOUGHT A 2000 JEEP GC. EXCESSIVE AND VIOLENT VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DEALER REPLACED ROTORS AT 5K MILES AT NO CHARGE AND SAID IT WAS A KNOWN DEFECT IN GCS. LATER I BOUGHT A 2002 JEEP FROM SAME DEALER. I ASKED IF PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AND DEALER SAID YES. AT 15K MILES, SAME EXCESSIVE VIBRATION CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS THE SAME DEFECT AND REPLACED ROTORS AT NO CHARGE. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AT 38K MILES. DEALER RESURFACED ROTORS BUT CHARGED FULL PRICE. HE ASKED ME TO COMPLAIN TO CHRYSLER DIRECTLY. I SENT A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER IN EVERY INSTANCE BUT NEVER HEARD BACK. CHRYSLER SHOULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND MAKE THESE REPAIRS AT NO CHARGE.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THIS INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED BY MR. JEROME WIFE KAREN JAKUBCO. *AK
THE VEHICLES BRAKE ROTORS WARPED WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR. *NLM
THE LUGGAGE RACK ON THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE PULLED OUT. THE SCREWS AND THE CRUSH NUT BELOW PULLED RIGHT THROUGH THE HOLE FOR THE SCREW. THIS WAS DONE AS WE WERE TIGHTENING A STRAP TO HOLD ON 2 PVC PIPES ON THE TOP. THE ONLY WAY ONE CAN SECURE ANYTHING ON THE TOP IS TO STRAP IT TO THE SIDE RAILS. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP SAID NEITHER THEY NOR CHRYSLER WOULD HELP WITH THE REPAIR COSTS, I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH CHRYSLER. THE PERSON I SPOKE TO THERE WAS MICHAEL. HE TOLD ME STRAIGHT OUT THAT THEY DID NOT CARE. WHEN I TOLD THEM IT COULD COME OFF OR LOSE IT'S LOAD ON THE ROAD PUTTING PEOPLE AT RISK. HE SAID THE COMPANY DID NOT CARE AND WOULD NOT HELP FIX THE PROBLEM TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SIMPLE FIX, SIMPLY PUT A WASHER ON TOP OF THE CRUSH NUT THEY USE AND THE BACKING PIECE BECOMES TOO LARGE TO PULL THROUGH THE HOLE AND THUS GIVES THE TOP A MORE SECURE FOOTING AND SUPPORT. THE COMPANY, HOWEVER, DOES NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ONLY WANT TO PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS. IT STILL IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE FOLLOWING IF THE RAIL COMES LOOSE AND LOSES ITS LOAD IN TRANSIT. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE LOAD IS LOST TOO. I DON'T WANT TO BE BEHIND THE JEEP THAT LOSES THE LUGGAGE THIS SUMMER. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE BODY SHOP PERSON ABOUT THE SITUATION, HE TOLD ME THAT ...YES, JEEP ADVERTISES THE TOP RAIL AS A LUGGAGE RACK BUT THAT IT REALLY ISN'T DESIGNED TO BE USED AS ONE. WHAT KIND OF A DEAL IS THAT? ONE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR DOWNWARD PRESSURE ONLY. THAT IS ALL WELL AND GOOD FOR PUTTING WEIGHT ON THE RAILS, BUT HOW DOES ONE STRAP DOWN THE CARGO TO KEEP IT UP THERE WITHOUT STRAPPING IT DOWN USING THE SIDE RAILS? I JUST CAN'T GET OVER THE FACT THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE THAT THIS CAN POTENTIALLY KILL SOMEONE! WHY NOT JUST REPAIR IT TO NOT DO THAT ANYMORE? WHY NOT JUST STOP MANUFACTURING IT THAT WAY IN THE FIRST PLACE?? THE FACTORY PEOPLE SAID IT WAS NOT A FAULTY MANUFACTURING FLAW.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VIBRATE AND JERK YOU ALL OVER THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS YOU CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS AT 7,986 MILES AND THE OWNER HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE CALIPERS AND ROTORS REPLACED AS PER INSTRUCTION. THE OWNER SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS AT 19,000 MILES ON THE SAME VEHICLE, THE BRAKES ARE DOING THE EXACTLY SAME THING AGAIN. THE OWNER HAS NOT HAD THE BRAKES FIXED AT THIS POINT BECAUSE THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID WOULD CALL THE OWNER BACK AFTER THEY TALKED TO THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE. THE OWNER HAS NOT TALKED TO ANY ONE AT CHRYSLER BUT CUSTOMER SERVICES AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE THE CONSUMER ANY INFORMATION. THE OWNER FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THERE ARE NOT ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE OWNER IS WAITING ON THE DEALERSHIP TO CALL AND TELL HIM WHAT TO DO. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. *NM
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, THEN IT STALLED AT 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR LIGHT HAD NOT COME ON. THE MECHANIC STATED THE OVERHEATING WAS CAUSED BY THE FAULTY RADIATOR. THE ENGINE MELTED AND NOW NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS RELATED TO THE RADIATOR REPAIR IN MARCH 2003. *AK *SCC *JB
THE LUGGAGE RACK ON THE TOP OF MY JEEP PULLED OUT. THE SCREWS JUST PULLED THROUGH THE HOLES. THERE WERE NO WASHERS OR ANYTHING OF THAT TYPE TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING. THIS WAS DONE WHEN STRAPPING AN ITEM TO THE TOP TO SECURE IT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD. I DON'T WANT TO BE BEHIND THE JEEP THAT HAS THIS HAPPEN ON THE ROAD AND LOSES IT'S LOAD INTO THE ROAD OR ONTO THE AUTOMOBILE FOLLOWING. JEEP WILL NOT HELP US IN REPAIRING THE PROBLEM NOR DO THEY CARE ABOUT THE POSSIBLE HAZARD. I SPOKE TO MIKE AT THE SERVICE DESK AT CHRYSLER AND HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD DO NOTHING TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. WHEN I TOLD HIM IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW, HE SAID HE DIDN'T CARE. I PLAN ON CONTACTING THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, IF THEY WILL ALLOW ME, AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE SCREW AND CASING PULLED THROUGH, IT ENLARGED THE HOLE AND PROTRUDED UP THROUGH THE ROOF TOP. IF ONE CAN NOT TIGHTEN A TOP LOAD ON THE LUGGAGE RACK, WHAT IS TO PREVENT IT FROM COMING OFF AT ANY TIME???? PLEASE HELP US AND OTHERS WITH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S TO PREVENT A FUTURE ACCIDENT DUE TO TOP MOUNTED LOADS FROM COMING OFF. *JB
LOST STEERING. TIE ROD BECAME DISCONNECTED. DEALER SAYS THAT BOLTS WERE TIGHTENED BUT THAT THE THREADS STRIPPED OFF OF THE KNUCKLE THAT TIE ROD ATTACHES TO. *JB
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE RUNNING WITHOUT ANY HUMAN INTERVENTION. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MINUTES IN PARK AND SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER WHEN STRIKING A CONCRETE BARRIER. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WEARING, AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, VEHICLE WILL HAVE HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
2002JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE NEEDED FRONT BRAKES & ROTORS AT 12,000 MILES BECAUSE OF VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING, THEY WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. VEHICLE NOW HAS 23,00 MILES AND DOING THE SAME THING! GOING BACK TO THE DEALER!

PROBLEMS GETTING WRECKED VEHICLE REPAIRED.*MR (NAR) FRONT END COLLISION IN 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLAT. *CB
I HAVE A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED YEAR 2003. IT HAS THE GEN-3 SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK SEAT. THESE SEAT BELTS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO RELEASE IN CRASHES. I TESTED THE SEAT BELT OUT AND IT RELEASES WITH A SIMPLE TOUCH OF THE ELBOW. I CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND EXPLAINED THAT THE SAFEST PLACE FOR CHILDREN IS IN THE BACK SEAT BUT IT IS USELESS IF THE SEAT BELTS RELEASE UPON IMPACT. MY 6 MONTH IS SAFER IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH SEAT BELTS THAT WORK PROPERLY. DAIMLER CHRYSLER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IF THE SEAT BELTS ARE USED PROPERLY THEY ARE SAFE. ISN'T THERE ONLY 1 WAY TO USE A SEAT BELT? I EXPLAINED TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER THAT I SAW A CRASH TEST WITH A DUMMY AND THE SEAT BELT RELEASED UPON IMPACT. DID THE DUMMY DO SOMETHING WRONG??? WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIVES OR BE SEVERELY INJURED BEFORE A MANUFACTURER IS WILLING TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM OR TRY TO CORRECT IT? I AM CONTACTING YOU BECAUSE I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER SO THEY STOP PUTTING THESE DANGEROUS SEAT BELTS IN THE VEHICLES THEY MANUFACTURE. I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES ARE MISSING THE REQUIRED CHILD SAFETY SEAT LATCH READY ANCHORS IN THE REAR SEATS. HAVE ORDERED NEW SEATS TO CORRECT CONDITION AND THE REPLACEMENT SEATS ARE ALSO MISSING THE LATCH ANCHORS. EXAMPLE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS: [XXX], [XXX]. I HAVE HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED TWICE ON MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AT THE MOMENT I HAVE JUST OVER 30K MILES. NOW THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER FIX MY BRAKES. I AM ON MY THIRD SET AND NEED TO GET A FOURTH. *NLM

THE CONSUMER HAS HAD THE BRAKES AND CALIPERS REPLACED ONCE AND ROTORS 3 TIMES, AND NOW THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE BEING REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE ON. THE VEHICLES GEAR SHIFT LEVER JUMPED OUT OF PARK AND THE VEHICLE HIT A PARKED CAR. *NLM
AT 14,000 MILES DEALER REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS BECAUSE THE ROTORS WARPED. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GRIND AND VIBRATE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. AT THE PRESENT TIME DEALER HAD TO TURN THE FRONT ROTORS AGAIN BECAUSE THE ROTORS WARPED. THE FRONT ROTORS ON THE VEHICLE WARPED WHICH CAUSED THE FRONT END TO SHIMMY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THERE WAS A SPONGY FEELING AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED ANNOYINGLY. *NLM
FRONT ROTORS FAILING, 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, 35,000 MILES,3RD SET ROTORS, THERE IS RECALL ON JEEPS PRIOR TO 2000 FOR SAME(SEE BELOW),NOT FIXED, VIBRATION OF FRONT END ON DOWNHILL WHEN BRAKES APPLIED, VEHICLE HARD TO SLOW/ VIBRATION. ROTORS, CALIPERS & BRAKES REPLACED 3/5/2003 @ 18,500 MILES. REPLACED AGAIN MAY 2004 @ 35,000 MILES. RECALL SHOULD APPLY UNTIL PROBLEM IS RESOLVED, THERE IS NO RESOLUTION TO DATE. MY JEEP WAS MFG IN JAN 2002, BEFORE A SERVICE BULLETIN AUTHORIZING REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS, CALIPERS & BRAKES. SINCE THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS TIME, IT WOULD SEEM THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL REPAIRS CONNECTED TO THE ABOVE PROBLEM UNTIL A RESOLUTION IS ACHIEVED. IF THE ROTORS ARE NOT REPLACED BEFORE THIS OCCURS, THE CORROSION COULD EVENTUALLY COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE HUB SECTION OF THE ROTOR. THE REDUCED STRENGTH OF THIS ROTOR COULD ALLOW THE CAST IRON WEAR SURFACE TO SEPARATE FROM THE HUB, REDUCING THE BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A PULSATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL UPON DEPRESSION PULSATION OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKES, PER THE DEALERSHIP. THE BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *NM

THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED, BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE BRAKE ROTORS, THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE THIRD TIME THE CONSUMER TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS, IT TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER CALLED CHRYSLER AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, CHRYSLER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THE DEALER SAID THAT IT STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, THE DEALER CONTACTED CHRYSLER, THEY TOLD THE DEALER THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THEM FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, WHEN THE PROBLEM HAD FIRST OCCURRED IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER FAILED TO COMPLETELY CORRECT THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE CONSUMER FIRST HAD THE PROBLEM THE DEALER HAD SAID THAT IT WAS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NORMAL, DEALER HAD TALKED THE CONSUMER OUT OF HAVING ANYTHING DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
BRAKES/ ROTOR/CALIPER REPLACED @ 6257 MILES DUE TO VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT ANY SPEED. BRAKE LIGHT ON @ 16992 MILES DUE TO LOW BRAKE, CAUSE OF THIS WAS RIGHT FRONT CALIPER BAJO BOLT LOOSE. @ 19353 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION BRAKES BEGAN TO SURGE WHEN APPLIED, FOUND LUGNUTS TORQUED DOWN TO TIGHT. INSTEAD OF REPLACE DAMAGED ROTORS THEY TURNED ROTORS. @ 40405 MILES BRAKES AGAIN STRATED TO VIBRATES AND SURGE WHEN APLLYING BRAKES AT ANY SPEED. WARRENTY HAS SINCE EXPIRED ON THE BRAKES. *AK
