JUST BOUGHT MY 2004 JGC IN APRIL 2013. PULLING UP TO MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT, I HEARD A STRANGE POP AND MY DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED BACKWARDS AND BECAME UNSTABLE. LOOKED AT THE SEAT BRACKET AND ONE SIDE IS CRACKED. IT HAD MADE SNAPPING NOISE BEFORE BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I THANK GOD I WAS DRIVING SLOW AND WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I DID A SEARCH ONLINE AND THERE ARE 100'S OR THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED PROPERLY BY JEEP. *TR
WHEN BRAKING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, IN A MCDONALD'S DRIVE THRU, THE CAR ACCELERATED OF ITS VOLITION AND LURCHED FORWARD. BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED EXCESSIVELY TO COUNTER ACT ACCELERATION. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH GOING WEST WHEN A FORD FOCUS RAN A STOP SIGN AND HIT ME FROM THE SIDE GOING 80ISH MPH. WE SPUN OUT AND ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES, THE SIDE AND FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE GOT LUCKY AND FOR THE MOST PART WALKED AWAY FROM AN ACCIDENT THAT SHOULD OF KILLED US. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MOUTH AND KNEE INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 174,000. *TR
I WAS TAKING A TURN AT LESS THAN 15 MPH WHEN I HEARD A SNAP, AND I FELT A SLIGHT JOLT TO THE LEFT. AFTER TAKING THE TURN, I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE BACK UP TO SPEED WHEN MY SEAT SUDDENLY CAUSED ME TO LEAN BACK. IF I WERE AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED AT EITHER THE TURN OR WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING I FEEL I WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF MY SEAT I FOUND THE BRACKET TO MY SEAT HAD SNAPPED AND CAUSED MY DRIVERS SEAT TO TILT BACKWARD AND FORWARD AND SIDE TO SIDE UNDER ACCELERATION, BRAKING AND TURNING. I FEEL AS IF THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, ESPECIALLY AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *JB

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT MODULE RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED MONTHS AGO, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, REGARDING THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT MODULE. HOWEVER, AS OF TODAY, HE HAS NOT HEARD ANYTHING FURTHER REGARDING THE RECALL AND ASSOCIATED REPAIR.

I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY CHRYSLER VIA PHONE CONVERSATION IS NOT RECALLING MY VEHICLE. THE 1998-2004 WERE LISTED AS HAVING SEVERE DESIGN FLAW WITH THE GAS TANK LOCATED NEAR THE REAR END AND PRONE TO IMPACT EXPLOSIONS. CHRYSLER STATED MY VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL SINCE I DID NOT HAVE A TOW HITCH INSTALLED AND IT WAS NOT A 1993-1998 VEHICLE. 1. IF MY VEHICLE HAS A UNPROTECTED GAS TANK AND OVER 250 VEHICLES HAVE CAUGHT FIRE ON IMPACT WHY IS MY CAR NOT GOING TO GET A PROTECTIVE GUARD ( THIS WAS DONE ON OTHER VEHICLES THAT OWNERS COMPLAINED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY) 2. HOW IS A TOW HITCH GOING TO STOP A BACK END COLLISION? 3. WHY IS THE DESIGN AFTER 2004 OF THE GAS TANK NOT LOCATED SO CLOSE TO REAR END. IF THE LOCATION ISN'T A SAFETY CONCERN IT SHOULDN'T HAVE NEEDED TO BE RELOCATED. CHRYSLER FOUGHT THIS RECALL FOR YEARS AND NHTSA ALLOWED IT UNTIL A PETITION WAS CIRCULATED ON CHANGE.ORG TO HAVE MODEL YEARS 1998-2004 CARS RECALLED. COULD IT BE THE VEHICLES CHRYSLER WILL FIX ARE EVEN STILL ON THE ROAD AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE EAGER TO FIX THOSE. I AM STUCK WITH A CAR CANNOT BE SOLD OR DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A LOCAL ROAD. I WAS COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT AND AS I WAS STOPPING THE DRIVER SEAT MADE A POPPING SOUND AND THE SEAT BACK WAS LEANING TOWARD THE RIGHT. I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND PART OF THE FRAME HAD BROKEN. THE SEAT IS NOW WOBBLY AND LEANS TO FAR ONE WAY. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO STRIP THE SEAT AND WELD THE FRAME TO FIX IT. SOME TIME LATER THE BOTTOM FRAME THAT CONNECT THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR HAD BROKEN AND MY HUSBAND WELDED IT. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAD ENDED A LOT WORSE IF THE SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN TO THE POINT THAT EFFECTED MY DRIVING. I TRIED CALLING JEEP DIRECTLY BUT BASICALLY GOT AN "IT NOT AN ISSUE WE COVER OR FIX AND YOUR ON YOUR OWN". I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS A VERY COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM. PEOPLE ARE EVEN STARTING TO SELL BEEFIER FRAMES FOR JEEP SEATS AND SELL FOR $200. JEEP IS LOOKING AT A VERY LARGE LAW SUIT IF SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. BUT ONE THING IS FOR CERTAIN I WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP AGAIN! *TR
SWERVED TO AVOID A DEER AND ENDED UP IN THE DITCH. MY AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. CUT ABOVE EYE REQUIRING STITCHES, MY TEETH CUT THROUGH MOUTH REQUIRING STITCHES. SEVERE CONCUSSION. COMPRESSION FRACTURES L1-L3, T4-T8 IN BACK. MY RIGHT CLAVICLE WAS BROKEN DUE TO SEAT BELT NOT CATCHING. AIR LIFTED TO HOSPITAL.

AIRBAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. *TR
AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHEN GOING UP HILL LOOSES POWER AND HAVE TO TAKE FOOT OFF GAS AND AGAIN TO GIVE GAS TO RUN. ONE TIME CAR TOTALLY TURNED OFF. *TR
BOTH BRAKE LIGHT LAMPS APPEARED TO BE BLOWN. PLASTIC AROUND THE LAMPS ARE SCORCHED AND DISCOLORED TO BROWN. THE BLACK PLASTIC UNDER THE CONTACTS ON THE LARGER LIGHT HOUSING ASSEMBLY HAVE MELTED AND DROPPED AWAY LOWER THAN THE CONTACTS ON THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY SOCKET CAN REACH, THEREFORE CONTINUITY IS BROKEN AND NEITHER LIGHT WILL WORK. PLASTIC UNDER THE CONTACTS IS NOW DETERIORATING AND CRACKING DUE TO THE HEAT OF THE BULB OR TOO MUCH CURRENT DRAW. THIS LAMP IS ALSO THE NIGHTTIME RUNNING LAMP SO IT WILL BE ON CONSTANTLY DURING THE EVENING HOURS. IT CONCERNS ME THAT THE PLASTIC AROUND THIS LAMP IS DEFECTIVE AND CANT TAKE THE HEAT TO THE POINT THAT L/R BRAKE LIGHT SYSTEM FAILS. OTHER BULBS AND SOCKETS IN USE IN THIS ASSY. DON'T APPEAR TO BE AFFECTED. IS THERE A FIRE HAZARD? *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT LEFT SEAT BRACKET HAS SHEARED WHILE GOING OVER HILLY ROADS. SEAT NOW LEANS WHILE TURNING AND ACCELERATING. *TR
DEFECT IN ELECTRICAL WIRING IN DRIVER-SIDE DOOR PREVENTS WINDOWS FROM ROLLING DOWN (A SAFETY HAZARD) AND DOORS FROM LOCKING/UNLOCKING. THE BACK HATCH WILL EITHER REMAIN IN LOCKED OR UNLOCKED MODE DEPENDING ON WHEN THE WIRING FAILS (THIS MODEL JEEP DOES NOT INCLUDE A MANUAL WAY TO USE A KEY TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE BACK HATCH). IF A PET WAS IN THE BACK OF THE SUV THAT HAD A "PET FENCE", THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO GET THE PET OUT OF THE VEHICLE (OR LUGGAGE/CARGO). THIS IS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION WHERE THE GAS TANK MAY CATCH ON FIRE (CURRENT RECALL). THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON AS IF A DOOR WAS OPEN. TURNING OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS PREVENTS THE SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER/GAUGES/ETC FROM ILLUMINATING AT NIGHT. IF THE LIGHTS ARE NOT TURNED OFF, THEN ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON CAUSING A HAZARD AT NIGHT AS WELL. DRIVER-SIDE WIRING WAS FIXED IN OCTOBER OF 2012. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013, THE PASSENGER-SIDE WIRING IS CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEM - WINDOWS/DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT AN ANOMALY. IT IS VERY CONCERNING THAT THE WIRING CAN FAIL IN BOTH FRONT DOORS WITHIN A ONE YEAR PERIOD - CREATING SAFETY ISSUES. *TR
MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FRONT DRIVERSIDE SEAT FRAME CRACKED. I WAS JUST SITTING IN THE CAR WHEN IT WENT POP. NOW THE SEAT ROCKS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I AM WRITING ABOUT A SAFETY RECALL I RECEIVED IN JANUARY 2013. THE RECALL M35/NHTSA 12V-527 DEALS WITH DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I HAVE FOLLOWED MULTIPLE TIME WITH CHRYSLER ON WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY, THEY STILL HAVE NO IDEA. I AM CONCERNED THAT WE ARE DRIVING A CAR WITH SUCH A DANGEROUS RECALL AND THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. IT APPEARS THEY DID THE REQUIRED PART - SEND OUT THE NOTIFICATION; HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING OR FIXING THE ISSUE. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT IN MY VEHICLE HAD STARTED TO BECOME LOOSE AND FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED A BROKEN SEAT BRACKET. IN ONLINE SEARCHES I HAD FOUND THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL (1999-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE), SO COMMON IN FACT THAT A WEBSITE (HTTP://WWW.JEEPSEATBRACKET.COM/) SELLING AN IMPROVED SEAT FRAME WAS DEVELOPED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN AS I CAN'T IMAGINE THE SEAT BELT BEING AS EFFECTIVE IF THE SEAT ISN'T PROPERLY ALIGNED AND I HAVE FOUND NO RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON VEHICLES BUT IT APPEARS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I WAS ABLE TO FIND ONLINE THAT THIS IS MORE A POORLY MANUFACTURED PRODUCT THAN A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WERE I FIRST EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS IN OCT 2012 WITH THE HARNESS WIRES AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE WIRES INSIDE THEN AGAIN 4 MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I JUST HAD THEM REPLACE THEM A 3RD TIME 03/13 /13 AND AFTER 2 WEEKS OF HAVING IT HOME NOW MY JEEP WONT START I HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID I NEED A CRANK SHAFT SENSOR REPLACED I HAVE THEM REPLACE IT AND THEY TELL ME IT WASN'T THE PROBLEM THAT NOW I NEED TO CHANGE THE PCM SO I BOUGHT THE PART AND PUT IT IN 650 LATER CAR STILL NO START SO NOW I CHANGED THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR AND STILL TRIES TO START BUT JUST WONT I AM STRESSED I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND NO CAR NOW I CANT KEEP DISHING OUT MONEY TO THESE DEALERS FOR FIXES THAT AREN'T NECESSARY I REALLY NEED SOME HELP. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) BUT THE PART NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED ONE YEAR LATER THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS COULD BE PERFORMED AND THE PARTS HAD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL SERVICE HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ONLY INSTALLED A JUMPER HARNESS THAT DISABLED THE AIR BAG ENTIRELY. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE RECALL SERVICE WAS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE INSTEAD OF REPAIRING THE AIR BAG, THE AIR BAG WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED AND WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS INVOLVED IN A RECALL. I TRIED A YEAR AGO TO GET IT FIXED; THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS CAME IN. I JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT THE RECALL, AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP. I DRIVE ALMOST AN HOUR BOTH WAYS EVERY DAY AND OF COURSE MY CHILDREN ARE MY FIRST CONCERN. I NEED THIS REMEDIED ASAP, I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS A MASSIVE RECALL ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITH NO WAY TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR QUITE SOME TIME, AND NOBODY HAS PARTS. IF THE SEATBELTS MALFUNCTION, OR THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AND THE JEEP IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I DRIVE, SO I DO NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF WAITING UNTIL PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. I'VE HAD TO DRIVE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS AN EVENFLO DISCOVERY 209 CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT, MANUFACTURED JUNE 2007. THE CHILD SEAT WAS BEING UTILIZED IN A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEVER THAT TIGHTENED THE STRAPS WAS FRACTURED, CAUSING THE ENTIRE SAFETY SEAT TO BECOME UNUSABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CHILD WAS NOT IN THE SAFETY SEAT AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED.

AS I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE JEEP WOULD NOT MOVE IT WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I NOTICED THAT THE PNRD WERE ALL LIT UP.
