TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDOW CONTROL MODULE FAILED TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE WINDOWS AND THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER JEEP SAFETY RECALL M35 / NHTSA 12V-527 (THE UPDATED VERSION THAT INCLUDES THE 2002-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL WHICH ONLY INCLUDED 2002-2003 JEEP LIBERTY VEHICLES): "THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC) MODULE ON YOUR VEHICLE (VIN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) MAY EXPERIENCE A FRONT AIRBAG AND/OR SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT. AN INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT WHILE DRIVING COULD DISTRACT THE DRIVER AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." (DISTRACT? SERIOUSLY? THAT'S HOW A RANDOM AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IS DESCRIBED???) WE TRIED TO SCHEDULE THIS "RIGHT AWAY" WITH OUR DODGE DEALER. WE WERE TOLD THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. IN FEBRUARY 2013 WE WERE TOLD THE SAME THING. IN APRIL WE WERE TOLD THERE IS A ONE YEAR WAITING LIST FOR THIS DEFECT TO BE REPAIRED AS CHRYSLER IS UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PARTS (THE DEALERSHIP WORDS, NOT MINE). THIS I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE. RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL (M35) LETTER FROM CHRYSLER AROUND DECEMBER 2012 AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED ON THE NEWS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2012. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY VERIFIED THAT MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE RECALL. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 2013 AND THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I CALL THE DEALER AND THE DEALER IS STILL TELLING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART TO CORRECT THE RECALL. I'M NOW WORRIED ABOUT THE CHANCE THAT I MAY BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THERE ARE NO AIRBAGS OR SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS TO PROTECT ME AND MY FAMILY. *TR

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. MY JEEP BRAKE LIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES, THE TAIL LIGHTS TURN OFF AND DO NOT GLOW. THEY HAVE BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. CAN CHRYSLER PLEASE RECALL THE DEFECT??? THANKS. *TR
I KNOW OF AT LEAST 4 PEOPLE WHO HAVE JEEP VEHICLES AND WE ARE CONSTANTLY REPLACING THE TAIL LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT AND OR HAVING ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS. WITHIN 2YEARS I HAVE PERSONALLY REPLACED MY ENTIRE DRIVER TAIL LIGHT, BULBS 4 TIMES. CHECKED LOCAL DEALER IN FEB 2012 AND WAS ADVISED THE PARTS WERE TO BE AVAILABLE IN MARCH 2012. DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL BLEND DOORS HAVE BROKEN, A DEFECT IN DESIGN THAT AFFECTS ALL 1999-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED MODELS. THERE IS NO HOT AIR AVAILABLE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CABIN, AND THE PASSENGER CLIMATE ADJUSTMENT IS INOPERATIVE. *TR
THIS JEEP WAS RECALLED 11/08/2012 FOR AN AIR BAG PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP MANY TIMES WITH NO REAL PROGRESS. JEEP SENT ME CONFIRMATION OF THE RECALL AND ITS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS AND TODAY "06/03/2013" I CALLED JEEP AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY IDEA OF A DATE THEY CAN FIX IT. ACCORDING TO THE LETTER IF ITS NOT FIXED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME I SHOULD COMPLAIN. I CALL OVER 6 MONTHS VERY UNREASONABLE! WILL JEEP PAY FOR A RENTAL TILL THIS IS DONE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING A CAR WHERE THE AIR CAN DEPLOY AT ANY TIME.
RECEIVED NOTICE 11/8/12 THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V527000 WAS ISSUED FOR A RECALL OF 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON WHICH A COMPONENT IN THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE MAY FAIL CAUSING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE RECEIVED NUMEROUS NOTICES, SINCE JANUARY 2013 AND AS RECENTLY AS JANUARY 2, 2014, FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND BOTH LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERS, TO ALERT US TO THIS RECALL, UPON ATTEMPTING TO SCHEDULE OUR JEEP FOR RECALL RESOLUTION OUR LOCAL DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE THAT RESOLUTION. BOTH DEALERS CLAIM THAT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE "YET" TO SERVICE THE RECALL. THIS CLAIM AS BEEN STATED BY THE DEALERS EVERY FOUR MONTHS SINCE JANUARY 2013 AND AGAIN AS RECENTLY AS JANUARY 4, 2014. IT APPEARS TO ME AS A CONSUMER THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO INTENTION OF PROVIDING THE MEANS TO RESOLVE THIS RECALL. *TR

OUR JEEP WAS RECALLED IN NOV OF 2012 FOR FAULTY AIRBAGS THAT COULD DEPLOY AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE RIGHT IN FOR REPAIRS AND HAVE SINCE BEEN DRIVING IT AROUND WITH TWO CHILDREN IN IT. WE THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE IN JAN 2015 STATING THAT THE ORIGINAL REPAIR DOES NOT SATISFACTORILY ELIMINATE THE POTENTIAL FOR INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENTS. WE HAVE SINCE USED THE VEHICLE ONLY WHEN NEEDED, BUT NOT WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A CRASH. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH. TODAY WHEN WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SAID THAT WE HAVE BARELY DRIVEN THE CAR IN SEVEN MONTHS AND WE NEED TO KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS AT LEAST "SAFE TO DRIVE", WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY ALSO STILL DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT WE WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND WANT THEM TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE ALLOWED TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL ON A CAR WITH A POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM, BUT THEN TELL THE CONSUMER THAT THEY HAVE TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THEY GET THE PARTS. ...UPDATED 10-13-15 *BF
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND I SAW IN THE NEWSPAPER THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF AIR BAGS GOING OFF AND RECALLS WOULD BE SENT OUT IN JANUARY BUT IF YOUR LIGHT WAS ON TAKE IT IN TO A DEALER. I TOOK IT IN ON11/12/2012 BUT THEY TOLD ME IT WASN'T ON RECALL AND I TOLD THEM IN IT WAS IN THE NEWSPAPER AND THEY SAID I NEED TO WAIT TO GET MY RECALL NOTICE. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT TRACK HAS BROKEN ON TWO SIDES. THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART ON THE SEAT TRACK WHERE THE METAL IS TOO THIN AND HAS CRACKED. I HAVE READ COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT ONLINE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. I CANNOT EVEN FIND ONE TO REPLACE IN A SALVAGE YARD DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM, PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT ANY ONE THAT IS AVAILABLE. *TR
I SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2000-2002 JEEP CHEROKEE VEHICLES WITH THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN. I AM WONDERING IF THAT RECALL OR PROBLEM EXTENDED TO THE 2004 MODEL AS WELL. EVERY YEAR SINCE I PURCHASE MY JEEP, USED, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. FOR SOME REASON, IT OVERHEATS AND ALL OF THE COOLANT RUNS OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THEY ALL TELL ME THAT THE RADIATOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, I NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S THE RECURRENT UNDERLYING CAUSE TO THIS. *TR

DRIVERS SEAT, LEFT SIDE FRONT AND REAR BRACE HOLDING SEAT TO FLOOR CRACKED APART. I HAVE READ THAT MANY JEEPS FROM THIS TIME PERIOD HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM OF SEPARATION DUE TO INFERIOR / THIN STEAL AS THE BRACKET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY, POLE, STARTER AND ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 151,695. *TR
LIFT WITHIN WINDOW BROKE SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY UP AND CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 5-6 MONTHS LATER, A SECOND WINDOW HAD THE SAME ISSUE THIS TIME WHILE PARKED-ANOTHER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ON 10/20/2013 THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO A THIRD WINDOW WHILE IN REVERSE PULLING OUT OF DRIVING GOING NO MORE THAN 2 MPH-ANOTHER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. *TR
GOOD EVENING, I OWN A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4. I HAD BOUGHT MY VEHICLE A FEW YEARS AGO WITH ABOUT 18,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER TAKING IT FOR A TEST DRIVE THERE WAS A SLIGHT CLICKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. AFTER TODAY, THE CLICKING NOISE SEEMS TO GET LOUDER AT DRIVING 25 MPH. I TRIED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM BY RESEARCHING SIMILAR INSTANCES ON THE INTERNET. THERE WAS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT A BAD U-JOINT WAS THE CULPRIT DUE TO A LACK OF PERMANENT GREASE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED BY THE MANUFACTURER. GIVEN THAT THIS CAN LEAD TO THE VEHICLE LOSING CONTROL WHEN THE U-JOINT SNAPS CAN BE LETHAL. PLEASE INQUIRE WHETHER THIS IS A FEASIBLE ISSUE THAT CAN BE RECALLED FOR MY VEHICLE. THANK YOU. *TR
WHILE TURNING LEFT ON A HIGHWAY LOST THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE TURNING LEFT. BARELY AVOIDED ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO GARAGE. FOUND THAT THE STEERING GEAR BOX HAD FAILED. *TR
MY WIFE WAS BACKING UP IN OUR DRIVE WAY SHE DID NOT SEE MY SONS HONDA CIVIC BEHIND HER VERY POOR VISION FROM BEING SO HIGH FACTORY SETTINGS. SHE RIPPED THE GAS TANK OPEN. A FEW YEARS LATER SHE WAS REAR ENDED AND AGAIN THE TANK RIPPED OPEN WE WERE LUCKY BOTH TIMES NO FIRE. THEN WE HAVE HAD DEATH WOBBLE EVERY JEEP SUFFER,S FROM IT AT SOME TIME IN IT,S LIFE AS PER THE DEALER. I REPLACED EVERY STEERING PART IN THE FRONT END AFTER 40,000 MILES AGAIN IT HAPPENED TO ME AT 55MPH ON THE HIGHWAY I CAME SO CLOSE TO IT ROLLING IT OVER IT TOOK ME MORE THAN A MONTH TO GET BACK IN IT. THE DESIGN OF THE REAR IS JUST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN THE REAR IS THE SAME AS A RAMP TO DRIVE UP. I AM FAR FROM A RICH MAN THIS PRODUCT COST ME CLOSE TO 40,GRAND. I TRULY THOUGHT WE COULD GET A FEW COST FREE MILES.I AM DISABLED I LIVE ON A FIXED INCOME. NOW MY INVESTMENT IS WORTHLESS.
