WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS YOU GIVE IT. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF EVERY FEW DAYS. ALL THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE HIGHLIGHTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION ANDD A LOUD, RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETECTED A FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE POWER WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LOW DURING ACCELERATION. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,100.
I PURCHASED MY PRE-OWNED 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4 LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. I HAVE HAD 4 INSTANCES OF IT NOT CRANKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED TWO SENSORS AND REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. I GOT MY CAR BACK ON FRIDAY. TODAY IS MONDAY AND IT ISN'T CRANKING AGAIN. ALL ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES WORK FINE BUT THE CAR WILL NOT CRANK. THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND STARTER TESTED FINE. THE SUSPENSION MAKES A GOD- AWFUL SQUAWKING SOUND EVERY TIME I DRIVE ANYWHERE. *TR
2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 3.0 CRD DIESEL ENGINE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH FOR JUST A FEW SECONDS AND THEN ABRUPTLY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ON AN INCLINE (WITH A TRAILER IN TOW) AT THE TIME AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL BEING TOWED. THIS PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING HAZARD TO THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGERS IN THE JEEP AND TO ANY OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND TODAY (8/15/2011) I WAS TOLD THIS IS A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I DO KNOW OF OTHER 3.0 CRD JEEPS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT OTHER CARS AND TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.0 CRD DIESEL ENGINE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILURE. IT OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT ANY SPEED. *TR
ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY JEEP HAS RANDOMLY NOT STARTED AFTER BEING TURNED OFF AND PARKED. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THE MECHANIC COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG: STARTER, ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, & ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ALL SEEMED FINE. THE CAR FINALLY STARTED WITH NO REPAIR WORK BEING PERFORMED. THIS HAS HAPPENED (3) MORE TIMES SINCE AUGUST, THE LATEST BEING TODAY. THERE IS NO RHYME NOR REASON TO HOW OR WHY IT HAPPENS. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED OF THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL BY JEEP/CHRYSLER, AND IT SUPPOSEDLY AFFECTS THE YEAR AND MODEL OF MY JEEP. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL MAY VERY WELL BE THE REASON FOR MY PROBLEM, BUT AS OF YET I HAVE RECEIVED NO OFFICIAL RECALL NOTICE FOR MY CAR. WHEN I AM OUT DRIVING AND HAVE TO PARK I AM NOW AFRAID TO TURN MY CAR OFF FOR FEAR IT WONT START AGAIN. LIKEWISE, I AM ALSO AFRAID THE CAR IS JUST GOING TO TURN ITSELF OFF WHEN I AM DRIVING. I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY NOTIFIED AS TO HOW THE RECALL PROCESS IS GOING TO WORK FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE, SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME AT THIS TIME. THEY ARE ALSO UNSURE AS TO WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION. *TR
THE FRONT TIRES HAVE PREMATURE WARE ON THE INNER EDGE OF TIRE, THE RESULT WAS TIRE SEPARATION. AFTER ONLY 16000 MILES OF USE. I HAVE THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED AN IT WAS WITHIN FACTORY SPECIFICATION. I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW SET OF TIRES. OLD TIRES STILL IN HAND AND HAVE PICTURES OF THE TIRES. *TR
DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, MOST OFTEN APPROACHING A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF LEAVING NO POWER SYSTEMS. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IN ONE CASE. VEHICLE STARTS UP IMMEDIATELY AFTER OCCURRENCE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO IS AWARE OF THIS OCCURRING WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR BUT STATES IT PROBABLY WILL BE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT TOWED FROM POINT OF OCCURRENCE. DEALER STATED THEY COULD TRY TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BY DRIVING IT AROUND??? I TOLD HIM YOU MIGHT BE DRIVING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I DON'T WANT MY WIFE OPERATE THE CAR. AS A RETIRED STATE TROOPER I AM EXPERIENCED IN OPERATING VEHICLES UNDER HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS BUT DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF HAVING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL AND ISSUE OCCURS. IT IS JUST A MATER OF TIME UNTIL THERE IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS BOTH BY NHTSA COMPLAINT AND DIFFERENT FORUMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO ACCELERATE FROM STOPS FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE TO FOUR SECONDS. ONCE THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGIN TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD ACCELERATE AT A VERY HIGH RATE AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO QUICKLY APPLY THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL NOTICE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED FOR YEARS HE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS BLINKING, SUCH AS THE ABS, SEAT BELT, AIR BAG, TCS, ESP, ETC. THEY WOULD BLINK ONCE A WEEK AND LASTED FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE EVEN WAS FOLLOWED BY A STEADY MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT. THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF BY ITSELF WITHIN 24-48 HOURS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION IN MOST CASES TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM LOSING POWER COMPLETELY. ON OTHER OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHERMAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM IN SKOKIE, ILLINOIS WHERE THE FOLLOWING SERIES OF REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE: THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS, THE FAN CLUTCH, COIL #6, A DRIVE CONTROL MODULE, THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE, FUEL INJECTION SERVICE, DECARBONIZATION SERVICE TO COMBUSTION CHAMBER, AND UPPER INTAKE TO THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUSTED MANIFOLD WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS CARBON BUILD UP IN ONE OF THE VALVES. THE REPAIR PERFORMED FOR THE SECOND DIAGNOSIS ALSO FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,449.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. STALLING ISSUES WITH 5.7 HEMI JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. VEHICLE STALLS AT RANDOM BUT AT LOW SPEEDS AND COMING TO A STOP. HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 TIMES PER MONTH (ABOUT ONCE A WEEK). VEHICLE LOSES COMPLETE POWER, BRAKES, STEERING, ETC. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. ONLY WAY TO RESTART IS TO PUT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT STORES P0884 CODE. SHORTLY AFTER CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS IN MY WIFE'S 2007 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ON DECELERATION. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, BUT THE STALLING CONTINUED FREQUENTLY. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED OR PUT IN NEUTRAL WHILE COASTING TO BE RESTARTED. AFTER CONDUCTING SOME INTERNET RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 GRAND CHEROKEES WITH HEMI'S. I WAS AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING AMONG THIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE JEEP FORUMS (HTTP://WWW.JEEPFORUM.COM/FORUM/F67/2007-JEEP-GRAND-CHEROKEE-OVERLAND-STALLING-PROBLEM-1147825/) THAT DISCUSS THIS ISSUE IN DEPTH. THE VEHICLE STALLS LESS FREQUENTLY THAN IT DID WHEN I FIRST CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON NOVEMBER 1, 2013 WHEN MY WIFE WAS PICKING MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL. CHRYSLER CORPORATION FAILS TO TAKE A STANCE ON THE PROBLEM DENYING THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST. I HAVE SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF IT. I WOULD SALE THE VEHICLE, BUT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE I COULD NOT DO THAT TO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED THE UPPER AND LOWER WIRING HARNESSES ON SEVERAL VEHICLES AND THIS SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. AGAIN TO RESTATE THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER THE SPARK PLUGS ARE CHANGED IN THE VEHICLES. THIS WOULD LEAD ONE TO BELIEVE THAT DISTURBING THE POSITION OF THE WIRING HARNESS EFFECTS THE VEHICLE. CHRYSLER NO LONGER MANUFACTURERS THAT WIRING HARNESS, AS THEY ARE ON THE THIRD VERSION OF IT. THIS IN ITSELF WOULD LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER HAS SOME KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR TAKE ANY OFFICIAL POSITION. MY MAIN CONCERN IS FOR MY WIFE AND CHILDREN'S SAFETY WHILE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE. I ASK THAT YOU PLEASE TAKE AN IN-DEPTH LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION. *TR
2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (5.7 HEMI) WITH 50,000 MILES FREQUENTLY STALLS BOTH IN MOTION AND WHILE STOPPED. STALLING CAUSES ALL ELECTRONICS TO SHUTOFF, WHICH RESULTS IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. NUMEROUS TIMES, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NEARLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES FOR THE STALLING ISSUE, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS RANDOM STALLING IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD THAT ENDANGERS BOTH ME, MY PASSENGERS, AND PEOPLE DRIVING AROUND ME. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF POSTS ON THE WEB REFERRING TO THE SAME STALLING ISSUE WITH THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES (WK) AND THE JEEP COMMANDERS (XK). TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE FROM 30-40 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL VALVE, AIR FILTER AND CLEANED SEVERAL AREAS WITHIN THE ENGINE, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A COMPLAINT AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS FAILING DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT THE END OF MAY 2012 ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND HAD A DUE BILL FOR WORK TO BE DONE, STALLING WAS 1 OF THE ISSUES. GOT IT BACK WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON,BUT STILL STALLED WHENEVER HOT OR COLD DRIVING OR IN PARK. HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND IT STILL STALLS, JEEP TECH'S CANT FIGURE IT OUT. DIES SOMETIMES 3-4 TIMES A DAY AND ONCE IN AWHILE NOT AT ALL, BUT ON AVERAGE 3-5 TIMES A WEEK,NEVER THROWS A CODE OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT JUST DIES LIKE IF I TURN THE KEY OFF. I HAVE TO STOP OR PULL OVER PUT IT IN PARK TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY OFF AND THEN RESTART,RUNS FINE TILL THE NEXT STALL WHICH MIGHT BE IN A FEW MINUTES,HOURS OR THE NEXT DAY!! VERY FRUSTRATED AND DON'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL!!ABOUT 3000 DOLLARS OF WORK HAS BEEN DONE AND STILL STALLS. NEXT THING TO DO JEEP TECH SAYS REPLACE WIRING HARNESS 2000 DOLLARS..HAVEN'T DONE THAT YET HOPEFULLY SOMETHING ELSE CAN BE DONE!!! ENGINE STARTED STALLING WHILE COASTING TO STOPS AND WOULD OCCASIONALLY STALL WHILE STOPPED. IN TIME WITH HIGHER MILEAGE THE ENGINE STARTED STALLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALSO. NO PRIOR WARNING OR DASH WARNING LIGHTS WOULD WARN AHEAD OF STALL. EVENTUALLY WITH HIGHER MILEAGE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OCCASIONALLY WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING BUT WOULDN'T CAUSE STALLING PROBLEM. AT 95,000 MILES HAD DEALER FLASH PCM PER TSB 18-004-08 FOR CODE P0430, POWER FLUSHED AND CLEANED ENGINE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. REMOVED AND CLEANED THROTTLE BODY ON INTAKE MANIFOLD AND ENSURED PROPER MINIMUM AIR FLOW SETTINGS, FLUSHED COMBUSTION CHAMBER TO REMOVE CARBON DEPOSITS. TSB 18-004-08 RESOLVED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FROM COMING ON BUT STILL HAVE STALLING AT IDLE OR HIGHWAY DRIVING. ENGINE PERFORMS AS ALWAYS WITH NO PRIOR WARNINGS BEFORE STALLS. *TR
ESM- ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE ISSUE: P, R, N, D, L ALL LIGHT UP SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THE CAR GETS CONFUSED AS TO WHICH GEAR IT SHOULD BE USING. OCCASIONALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. AFTER REVERSING, I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT SHIFTS ROUGHLY. RANDOMLY THE CAR LOSES POWER DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. I HAD THE ESM REPLACED AND A MONTH LATER IS SHOWING A U404 CODE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A GLARE REFLECTING OFF THE SPEEDOMETER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, IMPAIRING THE CONTACTS VISION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS PART OF THE AESTHETIC DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT BE CHANGED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.
TIRE PRESSURE DROPS AFTER 1 DAY OF DRIVING APPROX. 12 MILES A DAY. I HAD REPLACED ONE ABOUT 20000 MILES AGO. NOW BOTH THE FRONT TIRE AND SPARE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, THE ISSUE IS THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR VALVE. *TR
VEHICLE IS 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND CURRENTLY HAS 18300 MILES AND WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JAN. 2008. TWO FAILURE TO ACCELERATE PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED. ONE ON 5/31/10 AND ANOTHER ON 04/21/11. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THE DEALER REPLACED THE BEZEL SHIFT SELECTOR. AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. MERGING ONTO A BUSY FREEWAY WHERE TRAFFIC SPEEDS ROUTINELY EXCEED 80MPH AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 30-35 MPH IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. THE DASH INDICATORS FOR THE GEAR SHIFT WILL ALL ILLUMINATE AT THE SAME TIME AND THE VEHICLE WILL GO INTO NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK IN GEAR AFTER TAPING THE SHIFT LEVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED A ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE. THEY KEPT THE OLD PART THAT WAS REMOVED. *TR

THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I AM SHOCKED THAT SOMEONE HAS NOT BEEN KILLED BY THIS ISSUE AS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS ON THE INTERNET. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER SAID IT NEEDED A COMPLETE REAR $900+ BRAKE JOB AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. TOOK IT TO A 3RD-PARTY MECHANIC; COST $299.00 TO FIX BECAUSE THEY HAD TO DISMANTLE THE CONSOLE AND REMOVE REAR SEATS AND REMOVE RUG TO GET AT THE CABLE. THE CABLE WAS NOT BROKEN, IT WAS SIMPLY DISCONNECTED FROM THE LEVER INSIDE THE CONSOLE; THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLY -- IT DID NOT NEED A BRAKE JOB. MECHANIC'S OBSERVATION WAS THE ONLY WAY THE CABLE COULD HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED IS IF IT WAS DISCONNECTED AT THE BRAKE SITE, ALLOWED TO BECOME SLACK AND WHEN RECONNECTED AT THE BRAKE SITE THE CABLE WAS PULLED UNDER THE RUG. AFTER INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM I DON'T FEEL THAT THE CONSUMER IS AT FAULT OR CAUSING THIS TO OCCUR. CHRYSLER MODULES ARE AND HAVE BEEN FAULTY IN THE PAST. ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE SAYS THAT OTHER MODULES IN CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE HAD PROBLEMS TOO. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE CHRYSLER TRANSMISSION ECM'S AND HAVE THEM RECALLED. *TR
2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, PULLING ONTO HIGHWAY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER. PRND ON DISPLAY WERE ALL SELECTED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD , PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK, CYCLE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON AND POWER WAS RESTORED. SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE THE EVENT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE. SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH REPAIR DEPARTMENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR "JERKED" AND THE SPEED DRASTICALLY DECREASED TO 20MPH. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A BOX AROUND PRND INSTEAD OF JUST AROUND DRIVE. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AS SOON AS I COULD AND DROVE TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME IN OCT 2009 SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS FIXED AT THAT TIME. NOW ALITTLE OVER ONE YEAR LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS TRAVELING WHEN TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT OR IT MOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I SPOKE WITH JEEP AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE UNLESS I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER IN WHICH IS WAS REPAIRED BEFORE, I EXPLAINED THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS ONE HOUR AWAY AND I WOULD NOT BE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THAT DISTANCE AND DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE THE FINANCIAL CAPABILITY TO HAVE IT TOWED THAT DISTANCE. THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS SITUATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE SHIFT MODULE SUDDENLY FAILED BY SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THEN DROVE TO THE NEAREST DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE GEAR SHIFT MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE HAS STOPPED ACCELERATING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ALL OF THE PRND LIGHTS SWITCHED TO HAVING A SQUARE AROUND THEM, NORMALLY, ONLY THE TRANSMISSION POSITION THAT YOU ARE IN WILL HAVE THE SQUARE AROUND THEM. WHILE GOING 20MPH THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING ONCE UNTIL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HAD TO PUT ON HAZARDS AND HAD TO TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART IT IN ORDER TO MOVE AGAIN - WAS AT LEAST 45 SECONDS WITH NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES SO FAR. FOUR TIMES I WAS GOING BETWEEN 15-20, AND ONCE GOING 50. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON WHEN THIS OCCURS TOO. FOUR OF THE TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED I JUST MADE A TURN AND STARTED ACCELERATING, AND ONCE I WAS TRAVELING A STRAIGHT PATH.
