VEHICLE LOST POWER (ENGINE RPM WENT TO IDLE) FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE TURNING ONTO A MULTI-LANE HWY AND ACCELERATING. POWER WAS RESTORED AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED NORMALLY. VEHICLE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THIS HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. "CHECK ENGINE" CODE U0404 WAS VERIFIED THROUGH JEEP IS THE "TCM" TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE HAD FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SLOW DOWN AND IT MADE IT DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE FAILED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE WAS 43,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44000.
SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT WHEN EXIT AND ALSO FAILED TO SECURE THE BELT PROPERLY. SOMETIMES, IT STUCK AND HAD TO EFFORT TO RELEASE THE BELT PROPERLY. THE SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. NOW, THE SEAT BELT RETURNED SAME PROBLEM AS ORIGINAL. I HAVE TO PAY 100 DOLLARS UNDER CONTRACT TO REPLACE IT. IT MAY LAST FOR A YEAR BEFORE HAVE TO REPLACE AGAIN AND AGAIN. I WENT TO USED CAR LOT AND SAW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND FOUND OUT THE SEAT BELT WAS LOOSE AND UNABLE TO RETRACT PROPERLY. *TR
THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN LOSES POWER AND ALL THE PRND12 LIGHT UP. SOME DAYS IT WON'T GO INTO DRIVE, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DROPS INTO DRIVE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IF YOU SLOW DOWN, YOU CAN'T SPEED UP AGAIN, LIKE YOU HAVE NO ACCELERATION. ONCE IN A WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THEN IT WILL GO OFF AGAIN, MOST OF THE TIME YOU HAVE NO NOTICE THAT ANYTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN, YOU JUST LOSE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I SEE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE FILING COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY MORE THAT ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE HE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE DEALERS DIAGNOSTIC TEST REVEALED THAT THE EGR VALVE EXHAUST CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND CAME TO A STOP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME ABNORMALLY STIFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. WHEN THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE JERKED BUT THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AT LEAST SX TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE CONTROL WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THEY WOULD WORK WITH THE DEALER IN ASSISTING WITH REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,600.
WHEN MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS IN DRIVE, THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER. THE CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND IT'S AS IF THE CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHETHER IT'S IN DRIVE, NEUTRAL, REVERSE, ETC. I HAVE A 2007 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO. WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT, IN THE DARK, MY HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH ON AND OFF. REALIZING WHAT AN EXTREME DANGER THE JEEP WAS TO ME AND ALL OTHERS ON THE ROAD I IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE JEEP. ITS HAPPENED ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AFTER AND EVERY INSTANCE I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESOLUTION NOR A DIAGNOSIS. *TR
I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF MY VEHICLE DURING ACCELERATION. WHEN I ACCELERATED, THE CAR WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE IN SPEED ALMOST AS IF IT WAS RUNNING IN LOW GEAR. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW. TODAY AT 60,000 MI IT HAPPENED TWICE. A FEW MONTHS AGO I TRIED TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY AND LOST POWER WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAD TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHT AND QUICKLY PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I NOTICED ALL OF THE LIGHTS [ P, R, N, D] ON THE DASH BOARD WERE ON. THE CAR SEEMS TO RESET WHEN I SHIFT TO PARK OR TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN ON. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. I BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I TOOK THE CAR TO 2 AUTHORIZED JEEP CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. ONE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, ANOTHER ONE FOUND A CODE U0404 BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANT. I FIND THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. *TT
WHILE DRIVING THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THEN SLOWLY PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN. GAUGES STOPPED WORKING THEN SUDDENLY CAME BACK ON. VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE WITH SHIFTING AND CAR FELT VERY SLUGGISH. OCCURRED 3-4 TIMES FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER COULD NOT RECREATE OR IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM DESPITE MANY ONLINE REPORTS OF THE EXACT SAME INCIDENT. *TR
GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A EMT (HIGH PERFORMANCE ALL-SEASON) - RUNFLAT RE: GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA TREAD SEPARATION (TIRE FAILURE) I HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE ORIGINAL TIRES, NO MODIFICATIONS TO VEHICLE, 2007 SRT8 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BOTH FRONT TIRES DEVELOPED AN UNNATURAL GROOVE ON THE INNER EDGE (WHERE TREAD MEETS INNER SIDEWALL) CAUSING TREAD SEPARATION AND FAILURE, ACTUALLY AT THE SAME TIME. TIRE PRESSURE WHEN TO ZERO. NOTHING WAS RUBBING THE TIRE, BUT LOOKING AT IT YOU WOULD THINK IT IS THE ONLY EXPLANATION. TREAD SEPARATION IN MY CASE HAPPENED AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES FROM NEW AT ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. I CAN SEND PHOTOS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR MOST FREQUENTLY IN COLDER TEMPERATURES. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

I HAVE A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ABOUT 38,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS STALLED OUT SEVERAL TIMES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE ALMOST RESULTING IN A FEW ACCIDENTS. I WAS TOLD THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, WHICH HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR A LARGE NUMBER OF JEEPS THIS YEAR-MAKE-MODEL. THE PART ALONE COSTS OVER $700 AND IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER FOR OVER A MONTH. THERE ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL....THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! *TR
AFTER BEING PARKED THE JEEP WOULD NOT START, CODE DISPLAYED IN THE DASH STATED TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP, AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 30 MORE MINUTES THE JEEP STARTED - DROVE HOME AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN - TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO REPLICATE AFTER HAVING IT FOR A WEEK. JULY 5, 2011 - JEEP WOULD NOT START AGAIN, TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP CODE, STILL INTERMITTENT, AFTER 2 WEEKS THE GARAGE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, AUGUST 6, 2012 - TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP ERROR CODE, THIS TIME IT WILL NOT START AFTER ANY PAUSE IN DRIVING, HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE SAYING ITS THE STARTER (JEEP NOW HAS ABOUT 65,000 MILES ON IT) - ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE RIGHT FRONT SPEED SENSOR (IT IS BAD AND CAUSING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM NOT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY).[ADDITIONAL NOTES: HAD TO REPLACE THE ESM AT 28596 MILES, JEEP LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND ALL LIGHTS LIT UP ON GEAR SHIFTER, AT 27170 MILES HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT WINDOW REGULATORS]. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

IN MAY 2008, 15308 MI ON JEEP, SLOWING FOR RED LIGHT, DIES, ALL DASH LIGHTS COM ON, NO POWER TO STEER, NO WIPERS, ETC.; STARTS BACK ON IT'S OWN. TOOK TO DEALER, NO CODE, NO RE-ACT; HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENT SINCE-SAFETY ISSUE IN TRAFFIC. NOW TRANNY PROBLEM, STARTED SEPT. 2010, 37,600 MI, CODE 750, CHANGED SOLENOID PK IN TRANNY, NOW CODE FOR LOW PRESSURE SEND CIRCUIT, DRIVES A FEW MILES THEN GOES AND STAYS IN 4TH GEAR; 3 MONTHS AND STILL NOT DRIVABLE. NEED RECALL FOR ESM AND TBS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. CHRYSLER SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS & BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGN AND COMPONENTS. THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING SINCE BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I OWN A SMALL BIZ AND ARE STRUGGLING JUST TO KEEP THE DOORS OPEN AND NOW ADD THE EXPENSE OF DIAGNOSING CHRYSLER'S PROBLEM IS JUST TOO MUCH! MY JEEP HAS EXPERIENCED THREE ELECTRICAL FAILURES WHICH HAVE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS APART. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON THE BATTERY DIED OVERNIGHT EACH TIME. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED I PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY BUT SIX MONTHS LATER IT DRAINED TOO. I WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY JUMP-START THE VEHICLE AFTER EACH INCIDENT. TRANSMISSION----I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DOWN-SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO A LOWER GEAR. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AT ABOUT 46000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS DEFECTIVE SHIFTER CONTROL. BEFORE I HAD IT REPAIRED (EST. $1000) IT BEGAN FUNCTIONING NORMALLY, THAT IS, UNTIL TODAY. I LEFT A PARKING LOT AND MERGED INTO TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET THE JEEP TO GO ANY FASTER THAN 28 MPH. IT SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN FIRST. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION THAT SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED BY THE CHRYSLER CORP. OR THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADM.. *TT
1. MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (5.7 HEMI; 64K MILES) WAS DUE FOR A TUNE UP. I PURCHASED REPLACEMENT SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE RECOMMENDED FROM A LOCAL AUTO PARTS RETAILER AND CHANGED THEM. 2. SUBSEQUENTLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING (APPROX 5 TIMES IN 25 MILES TRAVELED). THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AT STOPLIGHTS AND WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. 3. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AS ENGINE LIGHT HAD ALSO BEEN ON DURING ENTIRE TIME. DEALER WORKED ON TRYING TO FIND PROBLEM FOR 3 WEEKS. AFTER CONSULTING A CHRYSLER ENGINEER THEY FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT THE AFTERMARKET PLATINUM TIP SPARK PLUGS WERE CAUSING INTERFERENCE WITH THE VEHICLE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. DEALER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. I WENT BACK TO MY PARTS SUPPLIER AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I ALSO NOTIFIED CHRYSLER OF MY COMPLAINT THAT CONSUMERS AND PARTS SUPPLY RETAILERS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS PARTS INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUE THAT THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF BECAUSE IT IS A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. AFTER READING WHERE MULTIPLE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT8 OWNERS WERE EXPERIENCING FRONT TIRE FAILURE WITH FACTORY TIRES, I HAD MY TIRES CHECKED DURING AN ALIGNMENT. BOTH OF MY FRONT TIRES ARE EXPERIENCING A TREAD SEPARATION FAILURE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT, 0 MILES FROM A LOCAL DEALER. I CONTACTED GOODYEAR CORPORATE, WHO SENT ME TO A GOODYEAR DEALER LOCALLY, WHO INSPECTED MY TIRES, INFORMED ME THEY WERE DEFECTIVE, AND OFFERED ME A PRO-RATED REPLACE OF 50% OFF. AT 35,000 MILES NEW OEM SPARK PLUGS AND WATER PUMP (DUE TO COOLANT LEAK) WITH NEW ANTIFREEZE. VEHICLE IS SERVICED REGULARLY EVERY 3,000 MILES SINCE NEW. SINCE 45,000 MILES ALL RELATED CIRCUITS AND COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND CHECKED FOR PROPER OPERATION. NEW CRANK SENSOR AND ELECTRICAL IGNITION SWITCH. CODE B2105 KEEPS RECURRING EVEN WITHOUT STALL. ALL WIRING CONNECTIONS AND GROUNDS HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND CHECKED, NEW BATTERY AT 36,000. TIRE WEARS ON INSIDE WALL WHERE TREAD MEETS SIDEWALL ON GOODYEAR RSA EMT TIRES I HAVE GONE THROUGH 4 TIRES NOW ALL WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. GOODYEAR HAS WORKED WITH ME ON "PRO-RATING" AT A REDUCED PRICE TO REPLACE. I AM STILL UNHAPPY WITH TIRES FAILING AFTER LESS THAN 10,000 MILES AND HAVING TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM. *TR
