TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CONTROL MODULE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
THE AUTOMOTIVE OIL CHANGE ASSOCIATION (AOCA) REPRESENTS THE FAST LUBE INDUSTRY, WITH MORE THAN 3,500 LOCATIONS IN NORTH AMERICA, SERVICING MORE TIRES THAN ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS MEMBERS REPORTED AN INCREASING NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS (TPMS) ' AND THEY ARE GETTING WORSE. CONVENTIONAL TPMS'S MEASURE TIRE PRESSURE AT THE VALVE AND USE A RADIO FREQUENCY TO TRANSMIT THE DATA TO AN ANTENNA ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE QUALITY OF THESE VALVE STEMS IS SO POOR THAT CAR CARE PROFESSIONALS KNOW - IF THEY CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE, IT IS LIKELY THE VALVE WILL BREAK AND THEY WILL INCUR THE COST TO REPLACE, ABOUT $110.00 PER UNIT. SPECIFICALLY, THE 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, AND THE 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, HAVE ALUMINUM VALVES STEMS; THESE EASILY CORRODE, BECOME BRITTLE, AND BREAK AT THE TOUCH. THEY ALSO HAVE A PLASTIC CAP. IF THIS PLASTIC CAP IS IMPROPERLY SEATED, OR REPLACED BY AN AFTERMARKET CAP CONTAINING BRASS, OR BRASS THREAD INSERTS, IT LEADS QUICKLY TO GALVANIC CORROSION; THE RESULT- THE CAP FUSES TO THE VALVE STEM. ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE CAP, THE STEM BREAKS. THE DRIVING PUBLIC IS BEING 'TRAINED' TO TRUST THESE MONITORS FOR ACCURATE TIRE PRESSURE. PROPERLY INFLATED TIRES REDUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR LIFE-THREATENING BLOWOUTS, ENHANCE HANDLING, IMPROVE FUEL EFFICIENCY, AND PROLONG TIRE LIFE; LOWERING THE COST OF OWNERSHIP. THESE SYSTEMS ARE TOO FRAGILE TO CONTINUE USING THEM IN PASSENGER VEHICLES WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE DURABILITY. AS THESE SYSTEMS AGE, FAILURE WILL INCREASE 100%. TPMS UNITS ARE SPEC'D OUT BY OEM'S- MANUFACTURED BY SIEMENS VDO (ACQ'D BY CONTINENTAL AG IN MAY '07). AOCA HAS MADE MANY INQUIRIES TO SEE IF THESE UNITS ARE INTENDED TO BE RECALLED OR REDESIGNED'THE RESOUNDING ANSWER IS 'NO'. IF OEM'S DO NOT CHANGE THE SPEC'S TPMS'S WILL CONTINUE TO BE POORLY MADE. AOCA ASKS NHTSA RECALL THESE UNITS TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER, AND PEOPLE MAINTAINING THE TIRES ON VEHICLES. *TR
2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, THROTTLE PROBLEMS. ( AT LOW SPEEDS 5MPH -25MPH) VEHICLE HESITATES SOMETIME WHEN YOU TAKE OFF, SOMETIMES IT JUMPS OFF THE LINE, SOME DAYS YOU GO AROUND A CORNER AND PUSH THE THROTTLE AND IT DON'T DO ANYTHING, THEN IT TAKES OFF REAL QUICKLY. WHEN GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS IT HESITATES OR SURGES AND CHANGES GEARS ABRUPTLY. I TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS COMMON AND DID A COMPUTER RE-FLASH AT NO COST. IT DINT HELP ANYTHING. THERE WERE 2 OTHER JEEPS THERE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO BRING IT BACK AND LEAVE IT FOR THE DAY SO THEY CAN TRY TO FIX IT. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OVER SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINED AND DIED OVER THE TOYOTA PROBLEMS BEFORE ANYONE INVESTIGATED? ITS A REAL PROBLEM, LOOK AROUND ON SOME OF THE JEEP FORUMS UNDER IDLE OR THROTTLE PROBLEMS. I FOUND ABOUT 100 OTHER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS IM HAVING IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE GEAR WOULD SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE FAILED. THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE THE REPAIR WAS ON BACK ORDER. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN WITHOUT THE ACTUAL GEAR SHIFTER BEING MOVED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED MINOR DAMAGES TO HER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 20,600.
THE TIRE JACK IS UNSTABLE FOR THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MINE COLLAPSE AND NOT TALL ENOUGH FOR THE VEHICLE. I WATCHED A MAN ALMOST GET PINNED BY A JACK FAILURE ON A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. MINE IS A 2007. DOES ANYONE CHECK THIS EQUIPMENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A TRIP AND WAS TWO HOURS FROM HOME. I STOPPED AT A FRUIT STAND AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START DESPITE IT CLEARLY NOT BEING A BATTERY PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THIS OCCURRED ON A SATURDAY. ON MONDAY WHEN THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE IT STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. THEY RAN A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND FOUND NO FAULTS. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT "ACTED UP AGAIN". TWELVE DAYS LATER IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE STARTER MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I FIND IT AMAZING THAT I NEEDED TO WAIT UNTIL THE CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN IN ORDER TO DETERMINE WHAT WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. CLEARLY THERE WERE ISSUES AND SIMPLY RUNNING A COMPUTER TEST WAS NOT SUFFICIENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THE CAR. THE CAR HAD TO BE PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AMIDST TRAFFIC AND TURNED OFF, THEN TURNED BACK ON BEFORE THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS SAME SCENARIO HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR OUR FAMILY! *TR
I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OVER A YEAR AGO FROM FIAT CHRYSLER. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TURN OFF DUE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MY SON WERE DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME. THE ENGINE STOPPED, THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK, IT WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON A COUNTRY CURVY ROAD. I DO NOT FEEL I CAN SELL THIS CAR TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO MIGHT POTENTIALLY WRECK DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I AM STILL BEING TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS VEHICLE.
REGARDING WINDSHIELD CLEARING OF 2002 JEEP AND 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER DOES NOT CLEAR THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE THE WIPER, WHICH I DID WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE AREA THAT DOES NOT CLEAR IS DIRECTLY IN LINE WITH THE DRIVERS VIEW. THE PASSENGER SIDE CLEARS WELL. I CONTACTED A COMPANY THAT REPLACES WINDSHIELDS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SPRING TENSION ON THE WIPER ARM. I DID NOT YET REPLACE THE ARE THINKING THAT A NEW ARM WOULD HAVE THE SAME SPRING TENSION. MY DAUGHTERS JEEP ( THE 2002) HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. HOW COULD THIS CONDITION HAVE EXISTED FOR 5 YEARS WITHOUT CORRECTION? IT WOULD SEEM UNLIKELY THAT THESE 2 CARS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. FIRST IT WAS MY PRND LIGHTS WOULD ALL LIGHT UP AT THE SAME TIME AND MY ACCELERATION WOULD NOT WORK. THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF AGAIN AFTER A FEW STARTS. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CODE IS U0404 WHICH I AM TOLD IS THE SHIFTER/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. WHILE SEARCHING THIS I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, ALL RIGHT AFTER THEIR WARRANTY RAN OUT. I WENT TO THE DEALER WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WAS NOT FOUND NOW THAT I AM 900 MIL;ES PAST WARRANTY THEY KNOW WHAT IT IS. I FEEL IF THIS MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I COMPLETELY LOST ACCELERATION WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TWICE AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO STARTED CLUNKING LOUDLY WHEN I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AFTER THIS OCCURS. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, THEN, ONE DAY I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. IT ACTED AS IF WAS IN PARK. I SHIFTED IT TO PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO GEAR LUNGED FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY DEALERSHIP (THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY) WHO TOLD ME NO CODES REGISTERED IN RELATION TO THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAVING BEEN ON AND THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME AND TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME TRANSMISSION CLUNKING BEGAN AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I LEFT A RED LIGHT TODAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR INTO SECOND. FINALLY, IT SHIFTED, SLAMMING INTO GEAR, WITH A LOUD, HARD CLUNK THAT SHOT MY VEHICLE SEVERAL FEET AHEAD. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT IF A CAR HAD BEEN AHEAD OF ME. IT'S BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO CLAIMS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG. THE CAR HAS ONLY 21,000 MILES ON IT. CLEARLY, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND CANNOT SIMPLY GO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REMEDY THE RECALL WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON THREE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WITH NO POWER AND NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME IN 2008, SHE WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, SHE WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, SHIFT TO NEUTRAL, TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RE-START THE VEHICLE WITH NO HESITATION. SHE WAS DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO TIMES AND THE DEALER TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD HER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,593. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,014.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BY SHIFTING THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS FAILURE FOR THE PAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH PRODUCED NO ERROR CODES OR DEFECTS. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED HIM TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY STALL WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2000.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A STALLING PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE MONTHS NOW. WHEN I AM AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, MY CAR WILL START TO IDLE VERY LOW AND THEN COMPLETELY DIE. IT WILL RESTART WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN THE KEY AGAIN. THE NEXT TIME I TRY TO START MY CAR AFTER IT STALLS, IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT 10 SECONDS FOR IT TO START WHEN TURNING THE KEY. MY CAR HAS DONE THIS 5 TIMES NOW. IT HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE A WEEK. MY CAR ALSO IDLES VERY LOW, VERY OFTEN WHEN I AM STOPPED. IT DOES NOT STALL EVERYTIME THOUGH. EVERYTIME IT HAPPENS I TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE, AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHY IT WOULD BE DYING WHEN STOPPED. *TR

THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLES SPEED EVENTUALLY INCREASED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. 09/29/2008 JEEP TAKEN TO GARAGE FOR HEAD LIGHT FAILURE NOTHING FOUND. 03/09/2012 TO 11/07/2012 ALL INDICATOR LIGHT FLASH EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASH. BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR NUMEROUS DAYS AT A TIME THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM. REALLY NOT GOOD WHEN IT IS DARK OUT AND YOU DON'T HAVE HEADLIGHTS. AT 15,000 AND 35,000 I HAD TO HAVE THE SHIFT MODULAR REPLACED BECAUSE ALL THE CAR WOULD BASICALLY GO IN TO NEUTRAL WHEN BEING DRIVEN. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE DAYS THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND SENT IT HOME ONLY TO HAVE TO RETURN 2 DAYS LATER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AS I HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE ON LINE WITH THESE SAME ISSUES MAKES YOU WONDER FIRST WHY THESE ISSUES CAN'T SEEM TO BE FIXED, SECOND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. IT IS TRULY A MIRACLE THAT NO ONE I HAVE HEARD OF HAS BEEN INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTS. WHEN THE JEEP IS WORKING I LOVE IT. IF I HAD A HOPE AND A PRAY OF GETTING A NEW VEHICLE I WOULD TRADE IN MY PAID OFF JEEP IN A HEART BEAT SO THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE TO CONSTANTLY WORRY THAT IT STOP RUNNING OR THAT I WILL BE DRIVING BLIND IN THE DARK. SADLY I DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH ON THE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES I.E. WINDOW THAT HAD TO BE FIXED REMOTE KEYLESS ISSUES IT IS SAD THAT THE COMPANY DOESN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE THINGS THIS WILL BE MY LAST JEEP. I FEEL THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE DANGEROUS FOR ME, MY FAMILY AND ANYONE THAT IS ON THE ROAD WITH ME AND OTHER JEEP OWNER WITH THE SAME ISSUES.
THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS SHORTLY AFTER START-UP. NO ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS ARE PRESENT TO AID IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING. THE CAR HAS STALLED UNDER THE LOW SPEED CONDITIONS 5 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 27,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED EACH TIME AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS WHERE VARIOUS PARTS WERE REPLACED AND SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40-50 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COULD NOT MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, IT STARTED BACK UP NORMALLY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.

I OWN A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, 6 CYL 4X4. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOSING POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON AN ALMOST DAILY BASIS, USUALLY WHILE NEGOTIATING LEFT HAND CURVES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE LIGHTS DIMMED. WHILE ROLLING TO A STOP AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE CONTACT COULD NOT RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE STARTS, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT FUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, AND THEN ATTEMPT TO RESTART IT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN ABLE TO RESPOND TO ALL COMMAND CONTROLS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, AND THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
