WHILE DRIVING ALL INSTRUMENTATION DROPS OUT. IT USUALLY COMES RIGHT BACK ON BUT RECENTLY HAS TAKEN LONGER TO RE-REGISTER. WHEN EVERYTHING DROPS OUT THE A/C NO LONGER WORKS AND THE BLINKERS DON'T WORK WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY. THIS OCCURS VERY OFTEN REGARDLESS OF THE VEHICLES STATE I.E. STATIONARY, LOCAL STREETS, HIGHWAY, ETC. I HAVE TAKEN INTO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DECIPHER THE PROBLEM.

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER (P41 / NHTSA 14V-438) IN *JULY 2014 REGARDING MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER (STEPHEN WADE AUTO, SAINT GEORGE,UTAH) AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY HAD NEWS. I CALLED STEPHEN WADE ONE YEAR LATER IN *JULY 2015*. THEY SAID THE PART WAS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD CALL ME. TODAY ( OCT. 13, 2015 ) I RECEIVED ANOTHER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE BUT THIS TIME IT IS FROM FIAT CHRYSLER FOR EXACTLY THE SAME RECALL AS I RECEIVED JULY 2014. I DECIDED TO CONTACT YOU / NHTSA. I DON'T WANT THE UTAH HIGHWAY PATROL TO BE PICKING ME UP WITH A BLOTTER ON THE INTERSTATE 15 WHEN I GO AIR BORN BECAUSE SOMEONE CAN'T SUPPLY A REPLACEMENT IGNITION SWITCH. THIS HAS DEFINITELY PUT A CRAMP ON MY ABILITY TO VISIT THE GRANDSON BECAUSE HE'S 350 MILES AWAY AND I'M REALLY NOT PLEASED HOW THIS IS BEING HANDLED BY ???? I OWN A 07 GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A 5.7L V8 HEMI. I LOVED THAT TRUCK AND TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT. NEARLY 10 MONTHS AGO I HAD A VALVE SEAT DROP WITHOUT WARNING AT 92K MILES AND NOW I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE AND I KEPT VERY GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES I STOPPED AT A STORE TO GET MATERIALS, WHEN I RETURNED AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER. IT HASN'T STARTED SINCE THAT DAY. IT WAS TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND $150 LATER THEY LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY "THOUGHT" THE ISSUE WAS, BUT I WAS STILL INFORMED THE ONLY WAY TO CONFIRM I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WAS TO CHARGE ME $1,500 TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART AND "DIAGNOSE" THE ISSUE, NOT FIX IT. THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND STILL TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. ON TOP OF THAT EVERY CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE AND MAINTENANCE PERSON I'VE TALKED TO ABOUT THIS ISSUE (4) HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL, TO THE POINT OF BEING RUDE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER, I WAS QUOTED NEARLY $8,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GUARANTEE THE ISSUE WON'T OCCUR AGAIN SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAME PARTS. I SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD THAT AMOUNT OF WORK, SO NOW I'M JUST MAKING PAYMENTS ON A DEAD TRUCK THAT'S OF NO USE TO ME. FCA IS A JOKE OF A COMPANY, AND THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.

MY JEEP HAD BEEN FUNCTIONING FINE UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN I WENT TO START IT THE LIGHTS WOULD GO ON BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CATCH. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT I NEED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS ON RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER 1 YEAR SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL AND THERE IS NO PART AVAILABLE. MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS NOW UNRELIABLE AS I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT MAY OR MAY NOT START. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I SHOULD RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR THE LOSS OF A VEHICLE AND WILL MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE TO TRADE IT IN. I'M WONDERING IF IT EVEN HAS ANY VALUE?
MY WIFE WAS TAKING OUR GRAND DAUGHTER TO THE HOSPITAL AT 10 PM AND EVERY DUMMY LIGHT CAME ON THE JEEP AND IT STARTED IDLING FUNNY THE TAILLIGHTS WENT OUT SO SHE HAD TO DRIVE THAT LATE AT NIGHT WITH NO BRAKE/ TAILLIGHTS ON 69 WITH OUR GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE BACK. WITH NOTHING WORKING WHAT WOULD KEEP SOMEBODY HITTING HER IN THE REAR END OR EVEN WORSE WHAT IF SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. MY WIFE HAS CALLED CHRYSLER JEEP AND MADE A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. WE HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED EITHER.....IT HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHENEVER THEY ARE DRIVING. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WITH 100,000 MILES ON IT AND PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY KEEP SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. MY WIFE HAS SEVERAL VIDEOS OF EVERYTHING GOING HAYWIRE IN THE JEEP WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 45 MPH ALL THE INDICATOR/WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING REPEATEDLY. THIS LASTED APPROX. 5-10 SECONDS THEN STOPPED. THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED A COUPLE MONTHS PRIOR. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OVER 1 YEAR AGO FOR THIS SWITCH BUT NO DEALER HAS PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALL. THE RECALL STATES THAT THIS FAULTY SWITCH; "MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKING ASSIST INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH AND DISABLING ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS." I NEED THIS REPAIRED ASAP BEFORE MY WIFE OR SMALL CHILDREN ARE HURT! PLEASE HELP.

COMPLAINT SUBMITTED IN REGARD TO FCA US LLC RECALL P41 NHTSA 14V-438 FIRST COMPLAINT FILED 12/12/2014 ODI NUMBER: 10663969 ON 8/19/2015, I WAS AT THE MUKWONAGO POST OFFICE TO SEND A PACKAGE. I CAME BACK OUT TO MY VEHICLE, STARTED IT AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. ANOTHER CAR WAS ON ITS WAY DOWN THE PARKING ISLE I WAS PARKED IN AND ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE THE DRIVER WAS ANTICIPATING THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE KEPT MOVING. I GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND APOLOGIZED TO THE YOUNG LADY WHO HAD ALMOST HIT ME AND EXPLAINED TO HER THE SITUATION. SHE SAID, "YOU SHOULD REALLY GET THAT FIXED. YOU COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT." I WAS UPSET, TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT NEEDED TO GET BACK TO WORK. I STARTED MY VEHICLE TWO MORE TIMES, IN ADDITION TO THE FIRST ATTEMPT, AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT IN GEAR - NO SUCCESS. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING AND PROCEED TO MY ROUTE.
