THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO TURN OFF BY UTILIZING THE KEY FOB TO LOCK THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT PANEL (SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, FUEL, TEMP GAUGES) WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. POWER IS ALSO LOST TO ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS, THE AC/HEAT, AND RADIO. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY BUT CAN BE MANIPULATED BY WIGGLING THE KEY WHILE IT IS IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IS ON. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS.
IGNITION SWITCH NHTSA 14-V-438 IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR FOR THIS RECALL WITH NO FIX IN SITE. I HAVE PROBLEM WITH MY SWITCH SOMETIME IT START AND SOMETIME IT DOESN'T . WHAT IF IT TURNS OFF WHILE I AM MOVING. WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG FOR A FIX.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE HE WAS CHARGED $850.35 FOR A REPLACEMENT OF A SKIM AND TWO KEY FOBS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED, THE RECALL PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT FIXED, DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. *JB

THE DASHBOARD WENT BLANK, NO SPEED INFORMATION, ETC, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS LITE UP AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS BEING STARTED. STEERING BECAME HARD, WAS A VERY SCARY MOMENT!
THE BEGINNING OF JULY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT THE CHECK GAS CAP CAME ON. I BOUGHT AN AFTER MARKET CAP FROM AUTOZONE. THE PROBLEM DIDN'T GO AWAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE PURGE SOLENOID AND ESIM MODULE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF WHEN WE PICKED UP THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY WHEN IT WAS STARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND GAS CAP LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE GAS CAP. WE WERE TOLD TO GIVE IT A FEW DAYS FOR THE SYSTEM ON THE CAR TO RESET ITSELF. IT DIDN'T. SO TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY FOUND A SMALL LEAK AT THE ESIM MODULE THAT WAS REPLACED? TOLD US THEY WERE ORDERING A NEW GAS TANK AND WE COULD DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED. NOW I HEAR AIR ESCAPING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK FROM THE GAS CAP AND IT WILL NOT ACCEPT FUEL WITHOUT BEING FORCED INTO THE GAS TANK.
VEHICLE WILL STALL WHILE IDLING OR DECELERATING. JEEP MUST BE PUT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL AND IGNITION COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND BACK ON FOR CAR ENGINE TO TURN OVER. VEHICLE ALSO HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, ALSO NEEDING TO BE RESTARTED TO RESUME FUNCTION. THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON HALF OF THE TIME ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AND BEEN RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE STALLS ANYWHERE FROM ONCE TO A DOZEN TIMES A DAY WHILE DRIVING AND IT OCCURS MORE IN THE COLD WEATHER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE REGARDING THE ISSUE, AND HAS DIFFERENT CODES WITH EACH VISIT FOR THINGS THAT NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THIS VEHICLE IS A LARGE SAFETY HAZARD.
RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE SOME TIME LAST YEAR 2014. CALLED AND NO ONE WAS OF MUCH ASSISTANCE. SAID THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.THEY ASKED FOR MY EMAIL AND I NEVER RECEIVED ANY CORRESPONDENCE BACK. TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER AS THE SAFETY RECALL LETTER STATED AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ME OUT. NO ACCIDENTS YET BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. MY TPS LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. I GET MY TIRES CHECKED FREQUENTLY TO FIX THE ISSUE AND EVERYTIME I GO, I AM TOLD MY TIRES ARE FINE. AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS GO OFF, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BRAKE SAFELY. I WAS TOLD MY SERPENTINE BELT HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THIS ISSUE FIXED LAST YEAR, AND IT WAS NOT INEXPENSIVE. IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR AND ALREADY THE PROBLEM SHOWS UP AGAIN. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING AND I FEEL THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND HELP ME OUT SO THAT I CAN FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING.
MY DAUGHTER WAS JUST DRIVING HER 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE ENGINE CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70 FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS SHE LOST HEAD LIGHTS BRAKES ECT. THE CAR THEN TURNED BACK ON AUTOMATICALLY BEFORE SHE STOPPED AND THE ESP, ABS, BAC,TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND SEEMS TO BE S COMMON PROBLEM. IS THERE A RECALL? IF NOT SHOULDN'T THERE BE? MY HUSBAND ALREADY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH REGULATORABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE GOING ON AND OFF. THAT REPAIR SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. THE SERPENTINE BELT IS ALSO SQUEAKING LIKE CRAZY. IT HAS BEEN. REPLACED TWICE. FIRST WITH AN INEXPENSIVE BELT THEN WITH A CERTIFIED BELT.
WITH VEHICLE PARKED AND THE IGNITION OFF, I WOULD TRY TO START THE CAR. WHEN I WOULD TURN THE KEY, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN, NO SOUND AS IF THE CAR WAS TRYING TO START, NOT EVEN A TIC TIC TIC. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BREAK PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS. THE FIRST FEW TIMES I CALLED AAA, BUT THEY COULDN'T START IT AND HAD TO TOW IT TO A GARAGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES LEAVING ME STRANDED AT NIGHT IN THE WINTER ALONE ALONG A DARK COUNTRY ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED AT THE GROCERY STORE IN THE SUMMER WHEN I ALREADY LOADED ALL OF MY GROCERIES INTO THE CAR, AND AT MY CABIN WHICH IS OVER AN HOUR FROM WHERE I LIVE. I AM IN MY LATE 60'S AND WALK WITH A CANE SO IT TRULY HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CORPORATE OFFICE FOR JEEP AND HAVE HAD TWO CASES OPENED WITH THEM. THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL. ONE TIME THE DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A MONTH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE PUT IN A NEW STARTER SEVERAL TIMES. THEY HAVE REMOVED THE REMOTE STARTER INSTALLED BY JEEP WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, SO NOW I CAN'T USE THE REMOTE STARTER I PAID TO HAVE INSTALLED AND THEN PAID AGAIN TO HAVE IT UNINSTALLED. THE LATEST THEY TOLD ME IS THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT PART FOR A PERMANENT FIX. THEY CAN ONLY REPLACE A PART WITH A NEW PART OF THE SAME THAT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. THIS LAST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT JEEP WOULD PAY THE BILL WHICH THEY HAVE NOT. I HAVE NOW HAD TO PAY MORE TO INCREASE MY AAA COVERAGE FOR DISTANCE TOWING SINCE I HAVE BEEN LEFT STRANDED AT MY CABIN TWO TIMES. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO PAY TO RENT A CAR WHILE JEEP WORKED ON MY VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH THE DEALER HAS NOT REPAIRED WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE DATE BELOW IS JUST THE MOST RECENT EVENT. THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 7 SIMILAR EVENTS.
MY INTIAL ISSUE WITH MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER WHEN SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR EITHER WHEN GOING UP A GEAR OR WHEN YOU WERE SLOWING DOWN. IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD CRACKING SOUND WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I ALREADY HAD A SENSOR REPLACED TO TRY AND CORRECT THAT ISSUE BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. THEN IN ADDITION, TO THAT THE JEEP STARTED STALLING OUT ON ME. I PERIODICALLY HAVE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ESP BAS LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER ABOUT MY CONCERNS WITH HAVING TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WHICH I BELIEVE IS RELATED TO THEIR P41 RECALL WITH NO SATISFICATION. I HAVE CODES B2185 AND U0401 IN THE COMPUTER OF MY JEEP WHICH CAME FROM MY LOCAL MECHANIC. CHRYSLER IS NO HELP. THE IRONIC THING IS I HAVE 2 - 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. THE SECOND ONE ISN'T MUCH BETTER. THAT ONE PERIODICALLY HAS ISSUES ALSO WITH LOSING POWER. WHEN IS CHRYSLER GOING TO BE FORCED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR THIS RECALL? THEY ARE FORCING PEOPLE TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES AND PUT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVES AT RISK.

VEHICLE COULD MAKE IT THE 5 MILES BACK TO APARTMENT. SEARCHING THE WEB, THE JEEP/MBENZ "SWIRL MOTOR" APPARENTLY HAS A DESIGN DEFECT. THE OIL VENTS BACK INTO THE AIR, WHICH CAUSES SLUDGE AND TAR, WHICH THEN CLOSES THE SWIRL MOTOR VENTS CAUSING IT TO STOP. WITH ONLY 66K MILES, HERE ARE THE SPECTRUM OF COMPLAINTS IN NORTH AMERICA AND THE UK. IF THIS IS CERTAINLY A DESIGN FAULT, THIS MAY CAUSE OTHER MOTORISTS QUITE A BIT OF MONEY OR CAUSE AN UNSAFE OR PANIC SITUATION FOR A DRIVER WITH SMALL KIDS STRANDED WHEN THIS BREAKS. I HAD JUST PULLED ONTO A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN THE RPM'S STARTED RACING BUT THE JEEP DID NOT ACCELERATE IT INSTEAD LOSS ALL POWER. I RECENTLY LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER.
