THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
REAR CORNERS OF THE FUEL TANK CORRODE DUE TO DESIGN OF TANK AND TANK MOUNT, TANK PROTECTION ARMOUR. DIRT, MOISTURE, MUD, ROAD SALT, ETC GET TRAPPED IN BETWEEN STEEL TANK AND STEEL CRADLE AND TANK CORRODES. THIS CAUSES PIN HOLES IN THE TANK, AND EVENTUALLY LARGER HOLES, OR LARGER AREAS OF WEAK CORRODED METAL.

FORTUNATELY THERE HAS NOT AS YET BEEN AN INCIDENT. HOWEVER, 8 MONTHS TO REPAIR AN IGNITION SWITCH IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND THE MANUFACTURER SAYS THAT A REMEDY IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND HAVE MY STEERING AND BRAKES SUDDENLY STOP WORKING DUE TO A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH! DROVE FROM CA TO AZ. TURNED JEEP ENGINE OFF !!! VISIT WITH SON & LEAVE TRAILER I HAD BEEN TOWING. I TURN IGNITION ON PUT IN DRIVE NEVER TOUCHED ACCELERATOR. JEEP SPEED OUT QUICKLY (SUDDEN ACCELERATION) OUT OF DRIVEWAY TOWARDS HOME ACROSS STREET - TWO CARS IN DRIVEWAY. GRABBED STEERING WHEEL VEERING JEEP AWAY FROM HOME & TWO PARKED VEHICLES. WENT DOWN EMBANKMENT AND DID 360. I FLIPPED JEEP AND IT STOPPED ENDED UP ON PASSENGER SIDE. NEIGHBORS & SON SAW ENTIRE CRASH. COULD NOT BREATHE DUE TO SEAT BELT CRUSHING CHEST & ME BEING UPSIDE DOWN. SON PULLED SEAT BELT FROM CRUSHING ME. AMBULANCE TO ER AND NO NEURO ON DUTY TOLD COULD TAKE ME VEGAS 2 TO 3 HOURS AWAY. FINALLY WENT TO NEURO TOLD POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME. AFTER LITTLE HELP, WENT TO BOULDER CO NEURO CENTER AND TOLD POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME, PTSD AND VESTIBULAR PROBLEMS WAS IN REHAB THERAPY ONE MONTH. KEEP JEEP IN GARAGE TO PROTECT THE EVIDENCE BUT NO ATTORNEY FIRM WOULD TAKE CASE AS STATED THE CRASH "DID NOT IMPACT THE REST OF MY LIFE" TOLD BY AZ ATTORNEY FIRM. I WORKED FED COURTS IN LOS ANGELES, CA OVER 20 YEARS AND CAN SAY EMPHATICALLY THERE WAS NO DRIVER ERROR. I KEPT FOR 3 MONTHS LOOKING FOR ATTORNEY FIRM BUT IN THE INTERIM I FOUND [XXX] WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REALIZED OTHER PEOPLE WHO DEALT WITH SAME "SUDDEN ACCELERATION" WERE GIVEN RESULTS "DRIVER ERROR". I MADE A REPORT WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WAS TOLD TO BRING MY STORY TO YOUR AGENCY AS WELL. AAA INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED JEEP AND PICKED IT UP JUNE 30TH AND SAID " NOT DRIVER ERROR" BUT MECHANICAL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND INFORM OTHERS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. A RECALL NEEDS TO HAPPEN. WE WERE NOTIFIED ON SEPT. 4TH FOR RECALL ON THE VEHICLE IGNITION SWITCH. WE HAVE YET TO HAVE THIS RECALL DONE, BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE. NOW MY IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. WE CAN NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I WISH WHEN YOU DO A RECALL, YOU HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE. I AM PAYING A MONTHLY PAYMENT ON THIS VEHICLE, THAT I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE SWITCH. WHILE I WAS DRIVING JEEP AND MY JEEP SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN, ALL LIGHTS SHUT DOWN , MY WHEEL LOCKED UP, I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER. THANK GOD MY BRAKES WORKED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE JEEP BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER I TRIED TO START UP THE JEEP AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING AND THEN FINALLY IT STARTED AGAIN. I COULD LEAVE THE CAT WHERE I WAS AT THE TIME BECAUSE I WAS AT A VERY BUSY STREET AND THIS IS DURING TRAFFIC TIME. I DID CALL A DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WAS A RECALL AND THEY SAID IT WAS. THEY SAID IT WAS THE STARTED SWITCH. MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I GET THAT SWITCH REPLACED? *TR

WHILE DRIVING ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THIS HAPPENED DURING A TURN, WHILE THE ROADS WERE A LITTLE ICY. THIS LOCKED THE WHEELS. THE POWER CAME BACK ON SHORTLY, BUT HAD IT NOT THE VEHICLE (WITH LOCKED WHEELS) WOULD HAVE SLID OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DITCH. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN WAITING FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL PART TO BE IN FOR OVER 4 MONTHS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN INJURY OR A DEATH. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND YOU CAN BET IF IT HAPPENS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AND THEY GET HURT I WILL SUE CHYRSLER. WHILE DRIVING 60 ON THE HIGHWAY, I SUDDENLY HAD NO ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, THE DASH LIGHTS STAYED THE SAME AS WHILE DRIVING. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER, 3-3-2015, I'M SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, I ACCELERATE, THE JEEP STARTS TO MOVE FORWARD, THEN AGAIN, LOSES ALL POWER. I PULL OVER, TRY TO START THE JEEP, IT WON'T START. I IMMEDIATELY TRY AGAIN, IT WON'T START. I WAIT ABOUT 20 SECONDS, TRY AGAIN, IT STARTS. DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE NIGHT. PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT RECEPTACLE BEGAN TO STICK AND NOT RELEASE RELIABLY. WITHIN A WEEK, THE SEATBELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT GO INTO THE RECEPTACLE, RENDERING THE SEATBELT USELESS. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP QUOTED A PRICE OF $413 BEFORE TAX TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART.
