TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BATTERY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SEA VIEW AUTO JEEP (810 STATE ROUTE 35, OCEAN, NJ 07712) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,636. *TT *TR
ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. ALREADY HAD TIPM REPLACED TWICE. LAST THING WE WERE TOLD THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOOSE BATTERY TERMINAL. CONCERNED IF THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (CROWN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DUBLIN, 6350 PERIMETER LOOP RD, DUBLIN, OH 43017 (888) 739-0282) WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND FINALLY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT MATCH THE CUSTOM INTERIOR VEHICLE COLOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER AS THEY COULD NOT CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE PUSH START BUTTON HAS ISSUES STARTING THE ENGINE. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS AND THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. THE ONLY WAY THE DEALER WILL FIX THE ISSUE IS IF THE PROBLEM IS SEEN 1ST HAND AND OCCURS FOR LONGER THEN 8 SECONDS. I HAVE PAID FOR MULTIPLE RENTAL CARS AND SPENT MULTIPLE HOURS AT THE DEALER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED AND IT KEEPS RECURRING. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX IT WITHOUT RE-OCCURRENCE. MY FINAL POINT IS THAT YESTERDAY WHEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE MY CAR STARTED AFTER ITS SECOND TRY, I THEN DROVE ONTO THE STREET AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT ANY CROSS TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON A BUSY STREET WITH MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF IN THE CAR. THIS HSE RISK HAS CAUSED ME TO BE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DRIVABILITY OF MY VEHICLE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP!
SAFETY RECALL P54/NHTS 14V-530 THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE TIPM. IT SAYS THAT IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY OR TURNING OFF THE MAIN ROADS AND I AM AFRAID I WILL GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE RPMS AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WENT HAYWIRE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE DEALER (NEUWIRTH MOTORS, 219 S COLLEGE RD, WILMINGTON, NC 28403) DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM WAS NEVER REPAIRED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED AND SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT USE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER (VICTORY CHRYSLER DODGE, 45 NABER DRIVE, SHALLOTTE, NC 28470) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM WAS FAULTY AND WOULD COST $1,200 TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,050. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
DASHBOARD LEATHER IS BUCKLING AT WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM OWNERS BUT IT IS NOT CURRENTLY A RECALL OR COVERED ITEM BY JEEP. JEEP CARES ADVISED THAT THE ISSUE BE REPORTED TO NHSTA. PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU CAN AUTHORIZE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE
WHILE DECELERATING AND TURNING THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THIS HAS OCCURRED 11 TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE YEARS AND 3 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST CRASH OR HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE INTO THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. THE EVENT LEAVES NO ENGINE CODES AND THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND IT WILL START AGAIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR BOTH MYSELF AND OTHER MOTORING PUBLIC.
VEHICLE COMPLETELY TURNES OFF WHILE IN DRIVE MODE, BREAKING OR SLOWING DOWN. TURNES OFF . THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. BROUGHT IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT AND NOTHING STILL TURNES OFF WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE AIR SUSPENSION AND POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND DAMAGED THE POWER CONTROL MODULE. ALSO, THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BUCHANAN AND YOUNG INCORPORATED (713 E MAIN ST IN BURNSVILLE, NC) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE RESULTS WERE UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING SO THERE IS NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES PUTTING MY WIFE, CHILD, AND OTHERS AROUND THEM IN DANGER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS AND NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ALL OVER THE WEB. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL FIX FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THEIR FIX IS NOT WORKING, AS WE HAVE HAD THIS "FIX" DONE TWICE, STILL HAVING THE STALLING WHILE DRIVING ISSUE. THERE ARE 188,000 OTHER VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS. THESE VEHICLES ARE A DANGER TO EVERYONE ON THE ROAD.
OVER A PERIOD OF ONE WEEK, BOTH OF THE TUBULAR SIDE STEPS BROKE OFF MY JEEP. IN ONE CASE, I WAS STANDING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TUBULAR SIDE STEP IN ORDER TO REACH A WINDSHIELD WIPER. WITH NO WARNING, THE ENTIRE TUBE DISLODGED FROM ALL THREE BRACKETS AND FELL TO THE GROUND WITH ME FALLING TOO. ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE PICKING UP A CUSTOMER AT HIS HOTEL, HE USED THE PASSENGER SIDE TUBULAR SIDE STEP TO HELP HIM ENTER THE CAR. AGAIN, WITH NO WARNING THE TUBE BROKE OFF AND FELL TO THE GROUND. MY CUSTOMER WAS INJURED PRETTY BADLY AS HIS SHIN WAS CUT OPEN BY ONE OF THE MOUNTING BRACKETS FOR THE TUBULAR SIDE STEP. UPON INSPECTION OF BOTH TUBES, IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE TUBES ARE VERY LIGHT WALL AND CORRODED AWAY IN THE VICINITY OF EACH FASTENER, ALLOWING THE FASTENERS TO PULL RIGHT THROUGH THE TUBE WALL. WHAT WORRIES ME IS THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING. NEITHER TUBE SHOWED ANY SIGNS OF BEING LOOSE. THE FASTENERS WERE (STILL ARE) TIGHTLY SECURED TO THE MOUNTING BRACKETS. WITH THIS TYPE OF "NO WARNING" FAILURE, ONE CAN IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A JEEP IS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND A TUBULAR SIDE STEP FALLS OFF. I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. FYI - MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER EXPRESSED THEIR CONDOLENCES, BUT STATED THAT ON A 7 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT WOULD NOT BE JEEP'S ISSUE IF IT CORRODED AND FELL OFF. I SUGGESTED THAT THE TUBULAR SIDE STEP FALLING OFF COULD HAVE THE SAME DEVASTATING EFFECT AS A BUMPER FALLING OFF. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULD ENGAGE THE DEALER IN MORE FREQUENT MULTI-POINT INSPECTIONS. YET, THEY CONFIRMED THAT CHECKING THE SIDE STEPS IS NOT ON THE MULTI-POINT LIST. I'M MAKING YOU AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE I COULDN'T LIVE WITH MYSELF IF I DIDN'T REPORT IT AND LATER HEARD OF A DEATH OR INJURY AS A RESULT OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANOTHER JEEP OWNER OR TO AN INNOCENT VICTIM.
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A WINDING, TWO LANE MOUNTAIN ROAD WHEN MY BUDDY AND I BOTH SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. WE THOUGHT IT MAY BE SOMETHING OUTSIDE, SO I CONTINUED DRIVING. AFTER A FEW MINUTES WE BOTH AGREED TO I SHOULD PULL OVER. DURING THIS TIME, DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLICKERED ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY. BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, SMOKE BEGAN TO SEEP THROUGH THE HOOD. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A PARKING LOT TO A TRAIL HEAD I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF. I PARKED AND TURNED THE JEEP OFF. IT WOULD NOT CRANK AGAIN. AFTER THE FIRST ATTEMPT, ALL POWER WAS LOST. ATTEMPTED TO JUMP MULTIPLE TIMES. TOWED FOR DIAGNOSTICS. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHOP DETERMINED ALTERNATOR HAD SHORTED INTERNALLY AND BATTERY WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO HOLD A CHARGE. BOTH WERE REPLACED FOR $1,600. THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FOR 2012-2014 MODELS, T36/NHTSA 17V-435. WHY ARE THE 2011'S EXCLUDED? THIS RECALL INCLUDES ENGINE SALES CODE ERB; MY 2011 SALES CODE IS ALSO ERB, BUT MY VIN ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I TOOK THIS MOUNTAIN ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC FROM AN ACCIDENT ON THE MAJOR HIGHWAY THAT IS MY NORMAL WAY HOME.
ENGINE CUTS OFF DURING OPERATION WHILE MOVING. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN GOING DOWN HILL. VEHICLE LOSES POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. OTHER OWNERS HAVE LOGGED SAME COMPLAINT ON FORUMS ETC. VERY DANGEROUS.
WHEN MY 2011 JEEP GC IS BEING STARTED, STATIONARY IT CRANKS, (TURNS OVER) BUT DOES NOT START OR STARTS MOMENTARILY THEN THE ENGINE STOPS. IT DOES THIS INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL IT STARTS NORMALLY, THE IDLE ALSO SEEMS ROUGH. MOST ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING MATCH THE ISSUES WITH THE TIPM RECALL BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED FOR THE RECALL.
QUADRA LIFT AIR RIDE SUSPENSION. WARNING LIGHTS AND FLASHING MALFUNCTION LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW CONTROLS DO NOT WORK. HEATED SEATS ONLY STAY ON FOR ONE SECOND.
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH STARTED TO BRAKE FOR A RIGHT TURN YIELD AND CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF . RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE; WENT TO THE DEALER TO RUN A DIAGNOSTICS AND NOTHING CAME UP.

AN INCORRECTLY INSTALLED BRAKE BOOSTER WATER SHIELD MAY BE LESS EFFECTIVE IN DIVERTING WATER AWAY FROM THE BRAKE BOOSTER, CREATING THE POSSIBILITY FOR CORROSION AND SUBSEQUENT WATER INTRUSION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER. SAFETY RISK WATER INTRUSION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN A COLD CLIMATE MAY LEAD TO FREEZING AND LIMIT THE BRAKING ABILITY OF A VEHICLE. LIMITED BRAKING ABILITY CAN CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. REMEDY INSPECT BRAKE BOOSTER WATER SHIELD FOR PROPER INSTALLATION. IF THE BRAKE BOOSTER WATER SHIELD IS FOUND TO BE MISSING OR INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, THE BRAKE BOOSTER MUST BE VACUUM TESTED. BRAKE BOOSTERS THAT DO NOT PASS THE VACUUM TEST MUST BE REPLACED. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS RECALL THE BRAKE BOOSTER WATER SHIELD MUST BE PROPERLY INSTALLED.
- ALL LIGHTS IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATED, AIR SUSPENSION DISABLED, VEHICLED LOCKED OUT IN 4X4 LOW, WIPERS ACTIVATED, NO EXTERIOR LIGHTS INCLUDING BRAKE LIGHTS WORKING. - VEHICLE WOULD NOT DETECT KEY, UNSAFE TO OPERATE, THIS OCCURRED ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING.
OUR 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. THE ISSUE USUALLY OCCURS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND TURNING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. WE HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF, AND HAVE HAD THE JEEP IN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE DRIVERS ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AFTER THE LOSS OF POWER IS SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISHED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR.
THE FRONT DASH OF MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS BUBBLING UP AND MAY CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM AND KEEPS GETTING WORSE.
VEHICLE WILL UNEXPECTEDLY STALL DURING DECELLERATION AND BRAKING. VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER TO THE MOTOR AND POWER STEERING, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO AVOID COLLISION AND STEER VEHICLE TO SAFETY. THIS HAPPENS AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS, AND HAS OCCURRED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN A 2 WEEK TIME PERIOD. THIS ISSUE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ADDRESSED BY RECALL NUMBER P54; OF WHICH I COMPLETED ON THIS VEHICLE IN 2014. THIS ISSUE PERSISTS, AND I AM SEEING OTHER OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM ON VARIOUS FORUMS. JEEP/CHRYSLER SEEMS TO BE INCONSISTENT ON THE COVERAGE OF REPAIRS AND DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED UNIVERSALLY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 877-426-5337 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ASKED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. FCW LIGHT ON DASH WENT ON AND ALL POWER WENT OFF, CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING AND CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY. THIS COULD EASILY RESULT IN A FATAL COLLISION. *BF UPDATED 9/13/18*JB

BAD ALTERNATOR AT 94K MILES. VEHICLE HAD TROUBLE STARTING, FOUND AN OPEN RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, BUT ISSUES PERSISTED AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BEGAN TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WITH A WHINE IN THE ENGINE. DISCOVERED A 2014 RECALL ON 3.6L,V6 ENGINES BUT IN CHECKING VIN MIN DOES NOT FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY??
SAFETY COMPLAINT - FIRE/EXPLOSION: GASOLINE FUMES OUTSIDE OF CAR AND OCCASIONALLY INSIDE OF CAR. JEEP DEALER STATES FAULTY DESIGN/MANUFACTURE/ASSEMBLY OF GAS TANK AND/OR PARTS RESULTED IN O-RING FAILURE CAUSING ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON WITH CODES FOR EVAC FAILURE. FUMES AT MINIMUM WHEN AIR TEMP BELOW FREEZING AS SEALS FREEZE SHUT AND ENGINE LIGHT STOPS GOING ON. I HAVE A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 2011 WITH THE 5.7 4WD. WITHIN THE PAST 5 MONTHS I HAVE HAD THE JEEP DIE WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN. IT IS AS IF YOU TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE FIRST TIME I WAS SLOWING TO EXIT HWY ON A RIGHT HAND EXIT AND THE CAR DIED ON THE RAMP WITH OTHER CARS BEHIND ME HAVING TO SLOW DOWN QUICKLY SO I COULD RESTART. THE SECOND TIME I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. THE THIRD TIME I WAS ENTERING A ROUNDABOUT TURNING RIGHT THEN LEFT AND IT DIED IN THE ROUNDABOUT CAUSING OTHERS TO SLOW AND STOP UNTIL I COULD RESTART. THE FOURTH TIME (THIS WEEK) I WAS SLOWING DOWN ON HWY FROM 55 TO TURN LEFT ACROSS LEFT HAND LANE AS I STARTED THE TURN THE CAR DIED. AS WITH ALL THESE, IT WAS IF SOMEONE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. THE APPROACHING TRAFFIC WAS COMING AT 55 MPH. I HAD NO WAY TO GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. I HAD TO HOPE THEY SLOWED DOWN TO LET ME COAST ACROSS. I WAS LUCKY THAT THEY DID SLOW DOWN AND SAW ME SO I COULD COAST ACROSS THE LEFT LANE AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE SEEN REVIEWS OF OTHERS HAVING THESE ISSUES. I AM TAKING THE CAR IN TO JEEP TO REPORT BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN IN REVIEWS AND COMPLAINTS NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS. ENGINE SOMETIMES STOPS RUNNING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AT LOW AND AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED. IT IS THEN NECESSARY TO STOP; RE-START, WITH NO PROBLEM, AND CONTINUE ON. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN LAST 3 MONTHS. JEEP IS NOW AT LANDMARK JEEP, SPRINGFIELD, IL FOR ON ROAD TESTING WITH CHRYSLER COPILOT COMPUTER INSTALLED.
AS I WAS TAKING THE EXIT ONTO THE INTERSTATE, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND MY CAR STALLED. IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO ME AFTER TAKING A TURN. LUCKILY NO VEHICLE WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME. I PLACED MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERS AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I NOTICED THAT OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. JEEP DEALERS SHOULD LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS MATTER AND PINPOINT THIS ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE, PERIODICALLY, WOULD STRUGGLE TO START, AND GOT WORSE OVER TIME. HOWEVER, ON NOV. 8TH IT NEVER STARTED, EVEN AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS. AFTER INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) HAD A BUILT IN FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINED HAD FAILED. SO LIKE THEM I TESTED THE TIPM AND DID DISCOVER THAT THE RELAY HAD FAILED, LUCKILY IN THE OPEN POSITION. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT THE 14V-530 RECALL TO ADD AN EXTERNAL RELAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE BUT I DID NOT FIND THE RELAY, EVEN THOUGH THEY CONFIRMED IT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. THIS WAS, LUCKILY, FOR ME ONLY AN INCONVENIENT ISSUE, BUT HAD IT FAILED WHILE DRIVING THE STALLED ENGINE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND/OR OTHERS AND THE PERSONS WITHIN.
TRAVELLING 50-60 MILES AN HOUR THEN DECELERATING CAUSE ENGINE TO STALL/SHUT OFF MAKING IT A 3 TON PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED THIS JEEP 2ND HAND, THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A "PROBLEM" IN THE HVAC SYSTEM. MANY 2011 GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. MY PROBLEMS RESULTED IN AN OVERHEATING, SMALL SMOKE/FIRE RELATED PROBLEM, WHICH I QUICKLY STOPPED. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS, REPAIR COSTS HAVE BEEN APPROX $8,000--(I HAVE REPAIR INVOICES, I'LL ATTACH SOME, BUT THEY ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO SCAN AND ATTACH ALL NOW. WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THEM IF NECESSARY). THE FOLLOWING ALL REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE: 1)...REPLACED THE ENTIRE A/C SYSTEM, INCLUDING THE CONDENSER AND ALL ASSOCIATED PARTS FOR HEATING/COOLING, INCLUDING LINES CARRYING FREON, 2)...REPLACED THE WATER PUMP, 3)...REPLACED THE BLEND DOORS AND ACTUATORS THREE TIMES--(TWICE PARTS UNDER WARRANTY). BUT, THIS WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. THE PROBLEMS REOCCURRED SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER REPAIRING. 4)...A MONTH AGO THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEATER CORE, AND IT'S HOUSING, CLAIMING THAT THE HOUSING WAS MELTED BY THE HEATER CORE. 5)...THE RESULT OF REGULARLY OVERHEATING--(COOLANT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 226-230-F), COOLANT HAS CONTINUOUSLY BEEN LEAKING ON ALL PARTS BELOW/AROUND THE LEAKS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSING ABNORMAL CORROSION. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR MOVING, CITY OR HIGHWAY DRIVING.

LEAKING/ CRACKED ENGINE OIL FILTER HOUSING. OIL LEAKING BECAME EVIDENT AS OIL LEAKING THROUGH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND TO BELOW THE VEHICLE. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE OIL FILTER HOUSING.
FUEL TANK FILL LINE (NECK) REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM LEAKAGE. THIS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. DEALER INDICATED NO GROSS CORROSION BUT SOME EVIDENCE OF CORROSION ON THE NECK, AND SYSTEM IDENTIFIED LOSS OF VAPOR RECOVERY.
THE LEATHER FROM THE DASH IS COMING OFF AND BUBBLING UP. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL AFFECT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND V8 HEMI STALLS WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO TURN ONTO ANOTHER ROAD, OR GOING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO EXITING A RAMP. IT'S BEEN OCCURRING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I'VE ALREADY HAD THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL FIXED TWICE, AND MY JEEP STILL STALLS OUT ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS. IT TURNS OUT CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL (T36) FOR 2012-2014 JEEPS WITH ALTERNATOR ISSUES; HOWEVER THE INFORMATION I HAVE READ ON THE RECALL SOUNDS A LOT LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY JEEP. 2011 JEEP GC OVERLAND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.

ON THE RARE OCCASION I GET THE JEEP TO RUN IT WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF....LAST TIME I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THE JEEP SLOWING DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR AND I WAS TERRIFIED.
WHEN I WENT IN TO WACONIA JEEP (905 STRONG DR, WACONIA, MN 55387) THEY TOLD ME I NEED A NEW FUEL PUMP. DID NOT DO RECALL WORK. MY CALL OFTEN STALLED BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK TO MY HOME IN COLORADO. DEALERS IN DENVER METRO AREA DON'T HAVE ANY "OPENINGS" FOR 3 WEEKS.
