TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK, BUT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A POLICE TOW YARD. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,832. *JS
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR DOWN A LOCAL STREET MY AIR SUSPENSION BAG ON MY DRIVERS REAR SIDE EXPLODED. THE ENTIRE REAR SYSTEM DRAINED AND THE BACK OF THE CAR DROPPED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A CONTROLLED STOP BUT WAS GOING AROUND A CORNER AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR
WHEN I START MY JEEP IT TURNS OVER THEN IMMEDIATELY STALLS OUT . THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME I START MY JEEP. THAT IS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY . I BELIEVE IT IS THE TIPM. HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS I CALLED UP THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT.
THE LEATHER DASHBOARD HAS BEEN BUBBLING AND SEPARATING FROM THE SUBSTRATE THEREBY CAUSING THE DEFROST VENTS TO BE OBSTRUCTED AND NOT DEFROST WINDOW CORRECTLY. I HAVE HAD NO ACCCIDENT YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND DAMAGED HIS FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND HAD THE TIRE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. MANCARI'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4630 95TH ST, OAK LAWN, IL 60453) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INSTRUCTED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE/REPLACED RADIATOR/REPLACED RECTIFIER IN ALTERNATOR
MY VEHICLE IS NOW REGULARLY (AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND AT RANDOM) STALLING WHILE IN MOTION WHEN I BEGIN TO BRAKE AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. IT CUTS OFF IN MOTION AND LOSES ALL POWER STEERING; I LITERALLY HAVE TO MUSCLE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD (ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS) AND HAVE TO RESTART IT. I HAVE NOW BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. THERE WAS A PRIOR RECALL FOR A FUEL PUMP RELAY WHERE RANDOM STALLING CAN OCCUR BUT THAT RECALL PART HAS ALREADY BEEN INSTALLED. I HAVE TAKEN TO CERTIFIED JEEP DEALERSHIP WHO HAS SAID THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE. I JUST CONTACTED THE JEEP CORPORATE OFFICE AS A LAST RESORT AND THEY ALSO SAID THEY CAN DO NOTHING TO HELP OR GIVE ME ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO CORRECT ISSUE (THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN...); INSTEAD THEY GAVE ME A DISCLAIMER THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A COMPANY WOULD OPERATE LIKE THIS AND OFFER NO ASSISTANCE OR ADVICE WITH A VEHICLE THEY BUILT THAT IS CLEARLY MALFUNCTIONING AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND/OR INJURY.
THE JEEP IS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING, THE STARTER IS RUNNING FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BUT IT WONTS START UNTIL THE SECOND OR THIRD TRY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE STALL WHILE RUNNING.
THE VEHICLE CONSISTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING, LOSING POWER STEERING AND ENGINE POWER. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN. THIS HAPPENS USUALLY ONCE/TWICE EACH WEEK AND MOST RECENTLY ALMOST CAUSED A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT, AS MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A HIGHWAY, WHICH CAUSED A SEMI TRUCK TO SWERVE, NEARLY HITTING ME AND MY 4 YEAR OLD SON.
MY VEHICLE HAVE BEEN SHUTTING OFF ON ME NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE I'M DRIVING MOSTLY WHEN I COME OFF THE HIGHWAYS FEW TIMES WHEN I FIRST START IT IN THE MORNING AND RECENTLY IT SHUT DOWN AND COMPLETELY DIED AND WOULDN'T START BACK UP. THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT WAS FULL OF WATER AND THE FUEL PUMP DOESN'T CUT OFF. I HAD THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY REPLACED THINKING THAT'S WHY IT DIED BUT IT'S STILL NOT RUNNING. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A MONTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SMOKE WAS SEEN UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK BATTERY SENSOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (CROSS CHRYSLER, 1501 GARDINER LN, LOUISVILLE KY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND DAMAGED THE PCM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,517. *TT
JUNE 16, 2018 I'D STOP AT A GAS STATION TO FILL UP I WAS INSIDE THE STATION FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES PLAYING LOTTERY FOR THE NEXT MORNING, I ONLY EXPLAINING FOR TIME LINE. CAME OUT TO PUMP GAS AND NOTICED MY ENGINE WAS SMOKING AND I HAVEN'T BEEN DRIVING LONG, I JUST LEFT A WATER FRONT PARK WHICH IS ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY. WELL THE SMOKE SMELLS LIKE BURNING WIRES BUT NO FIRE JUST HEAVY SMOKE SO I LET IT COOL DOWN. AND THE TRUCK WAS DEAD NOTHING NO POWER WHEN THE TOW TRUCK FINALLY SHOWED UP SOME 10 HOURS LATER, AND TRIED TO JUMP START THE TRUCK IT WAS DRAINING THE JUMP BOX. SO I END UP TAKING MY JEEP TO A AFTER MARKET REPAIR SHOP AND HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT MY ALTERNATOR HAD BURNED UP. SO ONCE I'D REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR THE TRUCK STILL WOULDN'T TAKE A CHARGE. AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ALTERNATOR ISSUE BUT FOR SOME REASON MY VEHICLE VETT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE LIST MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL LIST MIND YOU I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE USE I'M THE SECOND OWNER IS A CANADIAN VEHICLE BUT I BROUGHT IT IN THE IN MICHIGAN FROM A AUTO BROKER. I'M CURRENTLY DEALING WITH NORTHLAND CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN OAK PARK MICHIGAN AND AT THEIR CONTACTING FIAT CHRYSLER RECALL TEAM AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS THE ALTERNATOR RECALL I BELIEVE IT'S T36 WHY MY VEHICLE COULDN'T BE ADDED TO THE LIST FOR MY REIMBURSEMENT I HAD CALL THE NUMBER THAT I HAVE ON A JEEP APP THAT'S ON MY SMARTPHONE THERE WAS A RECALL NUMBER AND IT STATED THAT 2011 CHARGERS CHALLENGERS DURANGOS JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND A COUPLE OTHER VEHICLES IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN HAS THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE RECALL IT ALSO STATES THAT YOU WILL SMELL HEAVY YOU WILL SEE HEAVY SMOKE, MY NAME IS [XXX] MY NUMBER IS [XXX] [XXX] IS MY EMAIL. IF I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD MY JEEP VIBRATES ALL OVER FOR SEVERAL SECONDS NEARLY EVERY TIME, AND ONCE I GET UP TO 60 MPH IT VIBRATES CONSTANTLY UNTIL I SLOW BACK DOWN. THIS IS A VERY SCARY FEELING, AND I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL JEEPS AND IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". JEEP REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, AND MAKE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE BETTER.
A/C-HEATING BLEND DOORS HOT ON ONE SIDE AND COLD ON THE OTHER NO MATTER WHAT THE SETTINGS ARE ON. HAVE RECHARGED A/C AND DID NOT SOLVE ISSUE. ALSO, TURNED HEATER/DE-FROSTER TO 80 DEGREES TO DEFOG WINDSHIELD AND WAS BLOWING COLD AIR NOT HOT.
CAR DOESN'T START. IT WAS JUMP STARTED AND STILL DID NOT TURN OVER. THE RADIO, LIGHTS AIR DOORS ALL STILL WORK BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS REPAIRED BACK IN 2014. WHY AM I STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM?
VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED ON THE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING INDICATION. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY AT 98 DEGREE TEMPERATURE WHILE ON A STRAIGHT AWAY MAJOR HIGHWAY. NO PREVIOUS BATTERY WARNING LIGHT / CHARGING FAILURE WAS INDICATED BEFORE THE EVENT. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST ABLE TO GET PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS SUCCESSFULLY TOWED TO THE NEAREST JEEP AUTHORIZED DEALER 20 MILES AWAY. DIAGNOSED COMPLETE ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WAS REPLACED WITH NEW DEALERSHIP CHRYSLER BRAND (MOPAR). WHEN LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP JUST 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD, THE BATTERY CHARGING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE MADE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON BATTERY POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY ALTERNATOR (THE NEW REPLACEMENT). I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD ONLY REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WITH CHRYSLER INDICATED BRAND. IT IS KNOWN THAT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2012-2014 HAS A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATORS WHICH ARE SAME USED ON 2011. THIS JEEP HAS NOW HAD TWO REPLACEMENTS WITH LESS THAN 88 K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. RECOMMEND ADDING 2011 JEEP MODELS TO RECALL LIST AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
I RECEIVED A LETTER JAN/2018 FOR A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE REPAIR DONE FEB/2018. JUNE 5TH, 2018 I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP, WHEN I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION I TAPPED THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. THE BREAKS WENT COMPLETELY OUT, I WAS FORCING MY WHOLE BODY WEIGHT ON THE BREAKS TO GET THE JEEP TO STOP!! THERE WAS A TRUCK COMING AND ALL I COULD THINK OF IS MY SMALL CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE VERY QUICK RESPONSES, BUT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN AT ALL OR EVEN AFTER A RECALL FIX???? I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TERRIFIED IN MY WHOLE LIFE AND BEING SO HELPLESS IN THIS SITUATION! I AM REALLY SHAKEN UP AND GLAD NO ONE GOT HURT. IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO BE A CLOSE CALL. CHRYSLER YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR GET ALL OF THESE MODELS OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE KILLED. NOW I HAVE TO TRADE THIS JEEP IN BECAUSE IT IS A DEATH TRAP AND I WILL ALWAYS BE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY TOTING MY KIDS AROUND. BREAKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND THIS IS A SERIOUS RECALL ISSUE!!!!
EVERY 3 MONTHS APART OR SO MY VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER ON THE ENGINE CAUSING IT TO SHUT DOWN ON ME WHEN I MAKE A HARD LEFT TURN WHILE APPLYING MY BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED IT WAS ON THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK OUT OF NOWHERE MY WHEEL HOT HARD AND WHEN I WAS PRESSING MY ACCELERATOR IT WAS NOT WORKING. , THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME I HAD TO GET ON TOP OF THE SIDE WALK BECAUSE I COULDN'T STEER IT ENOUGH TO MAKE MY TURN. AND MY THIRD TIME HAPPENED THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS GOING UNDER THE BRIDGE LUCKILY FOR ME NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME BUT THIS PROBLEM IS A SITUATION READY TO GO WRONG. OUT OF ALL THESE TIMES I HAVE BEEN ALONE IN THE VEHICLE GOING ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE MORNING. ITS ALWAYS A SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR ME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. NO CODES NO NOTHING. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS ALL HARD THAT I CAN BARELY TURN IT TO GET ON MY RIGHT LANE SO I CAN PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT , FROM THERE IT STARTS WORKING FINE LIKE IF NOTHING HAPPENED.
STARTER ENGAGES, BUT WILL NOT START WIPERS WORK WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON . BATTERY DEPLETED FOR NO REASON. ENGINE QUITS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY,BUT JUST AS EASILY BEEN WHILE MOVING.

THE CONTACT FELT THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE IF A QUICK EXIT WAS REQUIRED. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, BRAKING WAS REQUIRED AND THE VEHICLE ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE NEARLY CAUSED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO BE REAR ENDED. NEW CARLISLE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM - TOBEY AUTO GROUP (580 N MAIN ST, NEW CARLISLE, OH 45344) REQUIRED THE CONTACT TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH NO GUARANTEE OF BEING DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT DID NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER AND IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A PREVIOUS OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NAPLETON'S RIVER OAKS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (17225 TORRENCE AVE, LANSING IL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP RELAY WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,435.
RIGHT REAR DOOR POWER LOCKS DO NOT WORK; ALL OTHER DOORS WORK WITH MAIN CONTROL AND KEY FOB. ONE MUST MANUALLY LOCK OR UNLOCK THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. PER DEALERSHIP IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH DOOR LATCH P/N 4589922AH @ $340.00 TOTAL PARTS AND LABOR PLUS TAX. SAFETY CONCERN FOR REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS.
WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ON BUT BREAKING TO SLOW DOWN AND TURN IN LIMITED LIGHTING (DAWN, DUSK, RAIN, SNOW) MY JEEP COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF - POWER STEERING, BREAKS, EVERYTHING. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW AND I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND RE-START - THANK GOODNESS I HAVE NOT BEEN HIT (YET). NO ERRORS OR WARNINGS READ.
ALTERNATOR P60 I NHTSA 14V-634 CHRYSLER HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT, \VHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY, EXISTS IN CERTAIN 2011 THROUGH 2014 MODEL YEAR DODGE CHALLENGER, DODGE CHARGER, DODGE DURANGO, CHRYSLER 300 AND 2012 THROUGH 2014 MODEL YEAR JEEP. GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES EQUIPPED ,VITH A 160 AN1P ALTERNATOR. MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS A 2011 AND EXPERIENCED TO EXACT ALTERNATOR MALFUNCTION AS DESCRIBED IN THIS RECALL. CHRYSLER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY CAR IN THIS RECALL. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, P60 I NHTSA 14V-634 THE PROBLEM IS ..THE ALTERNATOR DIODES IN YOUR VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A RAPID FAILURE. VARIABILITY IN THE FAILURE M NODE RANGES FROM NO OUTPUT, REDUCED OUTPUT, AND/OR A FULLY SHORTED TO GROUND CONDITION. DEPENDING ON THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE MODE AND TIMING, VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM VOLTAGE MAY DROP TO CRITICAL LEVELS, DISABLING SYSTEMS SUCH AS ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM), AND/OR THE CENTRAL BODY CONTROLLER (CBC). THE DRIVER WILL HAVE LIMITED OR NO DETECTION OF THE ALTERNATOR FAILING, ,WHICH CAN RESULT IN VEHICLE SHUTDOWN,VN ,WHILE DRIVING AND/OR AN UNDER HOOD ELECTRICAL FIRE. SEEM MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THIS RECALL.
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 40 MPH. LOST ABILITY TO STEER AS POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. WHEN THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL IS ON THE FOG LIGHTS FLASH AND THE TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT BLINK. WHEN I TURN THE FOG LIGHT BUTTON ON MY TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS UP BUT DOES NOT BLINK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIPM THAT WAS FAULTY. NOW AFTER I GOT IT BACK BOTH FRONT TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK AND THE BACK FLASHES FAST AND SOMETIMES FLASHES NORMALLY. ALSO BACK WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR A YEAR AGO IN JUNE 2017 THE CAR WOULD START AND I WOULD LET THE ENGINE WARM UP BUT ABOUT 20 SECONDS IN, IT WOULD STALL. WHEN DRIVING IT WOULD USUALLY STALL WHEN I WAS BREAKING AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. I REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR ABOUT 3 TIMES SO FAR AND STILL FEEL THE ENGINE LOSING POWER AT TIMES.

2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STALLS WHEN I SLOW DOWN ENTERING A HIGHWAY RAMP OF MAKING A TURN. HAPPENED THREE TIMES AFTER A RECALL WAS DONE TO FIX THAT ISSUE AT AROUND 46000 MILES AND NOW JUST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED 2X AGAIN AT 96000. ALL RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BUT THERE IS AN RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR ON T36 THAT COVERS THE 2012,2013 AND 2014 STALL AND THE ISSUE WAS THE ALTERNATOR. I BELIEVE THE 2011 SHOULD FALL INTO THAT.
LAST WEEK, I RECEIVED A POSTCARD IN THE MAIL FROM MCGOVERN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (NEWTON, MA) NOTIFYING ME OF "AN URGENT AIR BAG RECALL." THE POSTCARD WAS CLEARLY DESIGNED TO MIMIC AN OFFICIAL NOTICE, WITH A BRIGHT RED BACKGROUND AND YELLOW LETTERING, AS WELL AS DIRE WARNINGS THAT "[I]N THE EVENT OF A CRASH METAL FRAGMENTS COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE YOU OR YOUR VEHICLE'S PASSENGERS." KNOWING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS UNAFFECTED BY ANY AIR BAG RECALL (INFORMATION THAT I CONFIRMED THROUGH THE NHTSA WEBSITE AFTER RECEIVING THE POSTCARD), IT WAS CLEAR TO ME THAT THIS POSTCARD WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A MARKETING TACTIC. WHILE THE POSTCARD DISPLAYED CORRECT INFORMATION (MY NAME, THE VEHICLE'S MAKE/MODEL, AND THE VEHICLE'S VIN) AND INDICATED IN ALL-CAPITAL LETTERS "RECALL: T59," I ALSO KNEW THAT THE "T59" RECALL CODE WAS FOR A MINOR ISSUE WITH A WATER SHIELD IN THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES. ACCORDINGLY, I BELIEVE THAT MCGOVERN CHRYSLER AND/OR FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES IS ATTEMPTING TO USE PUBLICITY AROUND THE RECENT AIRBAG RECALLS AS A DISINGENUOUS PLOY TO SCARE CUSTOMERS INTO VISITING THE DEALERSHIP. IS THERE A REMEDY FROM JEEP THAT ADDRESSES THE BUCKLING LEATHER DASH AND DRIVER BACK PANEL? I WOULD LIKE REPLACEMENT OF THE DASH AND A NEW SEAT. WITHIN 5 OR SO MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED AS MENTIONED, WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF TURNING ON VEHICLE AND STARTING YOUR COMMUTE. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ONLY UNDER BRAKING AND TURNING CIRCUMSTANCES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO A JEEP DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND BOTH TIMES THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I WOULD ESTIMATE THIS HAPPENS ONCE/MO, HOWEVER, IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS WHICH OBVIOUSLY BROUGHT ME TO THE POINT IN WHICH I'M DOCUMENTING AND WRITING A REPORT. I CALLED THE SAME JEEP DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY CLAIM THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AND WOULD NEED TO DIVE DEEPER IN ORDER TO PROPERLY UNDERSTAND THE CURRENT ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTED THAT THE OIL LEVELS COULD BE LOW, WHICH COULD CAUSE THIS ISSUE, BUT I REGULARLY CHECK MY OIL LEVELS AND THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE. I'VE NOTICED THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE JEEP HAS DETERMINED WHAT EXACTLY IS CAUSING THEIR VECHICLES TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT'S A VERY SCARY SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IF A LARGE SEMI OR ANOTHER LARGE VEHICLE IS BARRELLING DOWN ON YOU WHILE YOU ARE UNDER BRAKE AND TURNING, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE TURN/CORNER. I WOULD LIKE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT JEEP IS DOING AND WHAT NHTSA KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WHAT OUR OPTIONS ARE AS A CONSUMER. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND NOT BY TOSSING PARTS AT THE PROBLEM THAT WON'T FIT IT, THIS JUST CAUSES THE CONSUMER TO SPEND SIGNIFICANTS AMOUNT OF MONEY WITHOUT ADDRESSING AND/OR FIXING THE PROBLEM.

COULD BARELY CONTROL CAR AND ENDED DRIVING THROUGH CURVE, OFF THE ROAD, DOWN INTO SMALL RAVINE AND INTO FIELD. WERE FORTUNATE TO AVOID ROAD SIGNS AND TELEPHONE POLE. CAR RESTARTED AFTER PUTTING GEAR IN PARK. VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. NOT ABLE TO GET APPOINTMENT WITH JEEP DEALER FOR ANOTHER WEEK. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS COULD BE RELATED TO FAULTY TIPM. OUR SERVICE RECORDS INDICATED THIS JEEP DID RECEIVE CHRYSLER GROUP SAFETY RECALL P54 (NHTSA #14V530) TIPM INTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY REPLACEMENT, WHICH STATES IS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF THE CAR LOSING POWER. SEEMS TO HAVE NOT PREVENTED THE MOVING CAR FROM LOSING POWER.

AS A RESULT, THE PERSON BEHIND THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK AND PINNED UNDERNEATH THE TIRES. THE VICTIM WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE GARAGE AND TRAVELED UP A THREE FOOT HIGH CONCRETE WALL BEHIND THE GARAGE WHERE IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ONE TEN TOWING AND THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
LEATHER DASH IS BUBBLING AND PEELING WHICH IS CAUSING DASH MOUNTED WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER VENTS TO BE BLOCKED. BLOCKED VENTS CAN NOT PROVIDE HEAT TO THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING ICE BUILD-UP ON THE WINDSHIELD DURING COLD WINTER MONTHS. THIS RESULTS IN BLOCKED/IMPAIRED VISION WHILE ON THE ROADWAY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. THE LEATHER DASH HAS ALSO BUBBLED OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH COULD AFFECT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG DURING A CRASH.

SINCE SEPTEMBER 2017, MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOUR TIMES DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING. THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WAS CHECKED ONCE PER MONTH UP UNTIL DECEMBER, BUT EACH TIME I WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH PARTS WERE IN GOOD CONDITION BASED ON THE DIAGNOSTICS. HOWEVER, AFTER EACH REPAIR VISIT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER A FEW DAYS. BETWEEN REPAIR VISITS A NUMBER OF OTHER ISSUES OCCURED: *AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATING AT HIGH SPEED (JAN '18) *ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING (JAN '18) *BLOWING COOL AIR ON ONE SIDE AND HOT AIR ON THE OTHER (SEPT '17) *DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WHEN UNATTENDED (SEPT '17) *WINDOWS GOING DOWN HALF WAY WHEN UNATTENDED (OCT '17) *RADIO POWERING ON WHEN TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION (NOV '17) THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STRETCH OF ROAD WITH THREE VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. DUE TO ONGOING ISSUES, THIS WEEK I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO JEEP FOR ANOTHER ASSESSMENT. THE JEEP ADVISER CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY STATING MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1282 OTHERWISE THE CAR WOULDN'T START WITHOUT A CONSTANT CHARGE. THE BATTERY WAS JUST REPLACED A YEAR AGO IN JUNE 2017. WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES MENTIONED IT'S CLEAR THAT THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A DESIGN ISSUE/FLAW THAT POSES A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR CONSUMERS. THE ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED OR RE-INVESTIGATED FOR THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ARE THE ALTERNATOR AND POWER MODULE REPLACEMENT. MOST, IF NOT ALL OF THE ISSUES MENTIONED COULD BE DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE TIPM. MY REQUEST IS THAT CAS, NHTSA, AND CHRYSLER CONSIDER OR RECONSIDER THE ABOVE MENTIONED FOR BOTH SAFETY CONCERNS AND THE UNDUE REPAIR EXPENSES PAID BY CONSUMERS THAT APPEAR TO BE DIRECTLY LINKED TO FAULTY DESIGN.
