VEHICLE HARD TO START, FAILED TO START, AND QUIT AFTER STARTING. FAILURE OF THE DEFECTIVE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). *TR
THE TIPM MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND I COULD NOT PULL MY BOAT OUT OF THE LAKE. HAD TWO CHILDREN WITH ME. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2014 WITH 36,700 MILES ON IT FROM SOMERSET JEEP IN SOMERSET MA. 1ST ISSUE WAS CAR WAS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. TAKEN TO QUIRK JEEP IN MARSHFIELD MA ON SEPTEMBER 5TH ISSUE WAS FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT DOES NOT POWER UP IN TIPM INSTALLED RELAY HARNESS AND FUSE STARTS FINE NOW. COST IS $375.68, WHICH I HAD TO PUT ON MY CREDIT CARD. 2. CAR STARTS SMOKING, WHICH TERRIFIES ME AND MY 7 YEAR OLD SON FOR FEAR OF THE JEEP BLOWING UP OR CATCHING ON FIRE! SO I HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO QUIRK BY AAA ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 16TH. THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MODULE IN THE FAN. THE WHOLE FAN HAS TO BE REPLACE FOR $1000.00. DON'T GET CAR BACK TIL MONDAY NIGHT OCTOBER 20TH. IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I CAN'T GET A RENTAL CAR UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. I CAN?T WORK OR DO ANYTHING! QUIRK GAVE ME A BREAK AND ONLY CHARGED ME $400.00 BUT THAT IS STILL A LOT OF MONEY FOR A SINGLE MOM WHO WAS WITHOUT HER CAR FOR ?4 DAYS. 3. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22ND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE ISSUE IS EVAP LEAK, STAR CASE OPEN FOR FUEL FILLER TUBE. ORDERED FILLER TUBE AS NOT IN STOCK. QUIRK SAYS THEY WILL HELP OUT AGAIN A LITTLE, BUT CHARGE IS GOING TO BE AROUND $400.00 BUT WON'T KNOW UNTIL IT GETS FIXED SOMETIME NEXT WEEK AND IT TAKES ABOUT 2 HOURS FOR REPAIR. MORE TIME LOST FROM WORK. 4. NOVEMBER 16TH---CAR WILL NOT START. IT WILL NOT TURN OVER OR MAKE ANY NOISE. TRIPLE A CAME OUT TO THE HOUSE, GOT IT STARTED ONCE AND THEN IT SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AAA GUY SAID IT IS NOT THE BATTERY. CAR BEING TOWED TO QUIRK JEEP RIGHT NOW ON 11 17 14 AT NOON. QUIRK SAYS 'NO IDEA WHEN THEY CAN LOOK AT' MY JEEP! I PAY $434.37 A MONTH FOR MY JEEP LOAN! CAR HAS ABOUT 47,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR IT WON'T START! I CAN'T WORK. 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE DID NOT START. *TGW THE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY NEED TO BE REPLACED.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

PASSENGER SEAT BELT IN REAR SEAT ON RIGHT SIDE WILL NOT LATCH. SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT AND WE CANNOT PLACE AND/OR SECURE A CARSEAT IN THIS AREA OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. VEHICLE HAS LOW MILEAGE AND DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE SEATBELT UNDER WARRANTY. PRICES QUOTED TO REPLACE SEAT BELT HAS BEEN BETWEEN $300.00-$350.00 FOR PARTS ONLY AND LABOR WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH NO CHARGES!

I WAS DRIVING ON I-75 AT NIGHT AND MY LIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT OUT. THE ONLY THING THAT STAYED ON WERE MY RUNNING LIGHTS. I PULLED OFF TO CHECK CAR AND FRONT HEAD LIGHTS AND BACK LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. FORTUNATELY MY FLASHERS WORKED, SO I MANAGED TO GET HOME WITH MY FLASHERS FLASHING AND DOME LIGHTS ON. MY DASH LIGHTS STAYED ON BUT DIMMED PERIODICALLY. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN I GOT CLOSE TO HOME, ALL THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHECKED THE CAR OUT AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I NOW DON'T TRUST THE CAR AND WON'T DRIVE IT AT NIGHT. *TR
MY JEEP WAS HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING FOR 3 WEEKS NOW BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL 9/9/14 ON TUESDAY 9/2/14 IT STALLED WHILE DOING 55 MPH ON THE LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AFTER ABOUT A DOZEN TRIES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TRIED TO GET IN EARLIER BECAUSE ON MY CONCERN ABOUT SAFETY. THEY TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY I STILL HAD THE APPOINTMENT THAT I HAD BECAUSE THEY ARE OVERBOOKED. IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL ON FRIDAY 9/5/14 I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER THAT DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY TIPM. AND IT WOULD COST ME 1098 TO FIX BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. AFTER LOOKING UP THE PROBLEM I SEE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MY MODEL. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE STALLING AT SPEED. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS FOR FREE! *TR
WHEN CRANKING MY VEHICLE IT BEGINS TO STALL AND SOUNDS AS IF IT IS FLOODING. IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS UNTIL I CAN GET IT TO TURN OFF. THE STALLING IS CONTINUOUS. WHEN I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE, OR TIPM. THIS DEFECTIVE PART IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS I'M INCURRING WITH STARTING MY VEHICLE AND IT'S STALLING. WHILE RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I LEARNED THAT THE TIPM CAN "PREVENT THE FUEL PUMP FROM SHUTTING OFF PROPERLY, CAUSE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS TO SHUT OFF, AND CAN CAUSE RANDOM AND UNCONTROLLABLE ACTIVITY OF THE HORN, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, ALARM SYSTEM, DOOR LOCKS, AND AIRBAGS." *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME WAS STOPPING, SO I HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP ONLY TO REALIZE THAT I HAD NO BRAKES AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. SO IN PANIC MODE I SWERVED OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO AVOID HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME, FINALLY MY JEEP STOPPED BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THEM OVER A WEEK TO GET BACK TO ME TELLING ME WHAT WAS WRONG, THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY TRUCK BACK SINCE I TOOK IT TO THE STOP IN AUGUST 29, 20214. *TR
RECALL P54/NHTSA 14V-530 MY JEEP HAS STALLED 5 TIMES IN A YEAR. CALLED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS RECALL AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. I ASK BOTH OF THEM, WHAT IF IT STALLS AND I AM IN A CRASH. THERE RESPONDS WAS THAT THEY HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. MY QUESTION IS WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION? THANK YOU *TR

I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AND HEARD A NOISE. AFTER SEARCHING THE WHOLE CAR, THE FUEL PUMP WAS STUCK ON. I TURNED CAR ON AND OFF THINKING IT WOULD RESET AND IT DID NOT. I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE TO TURN OFF THE PUMP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIPM WAS BAD AND WILL COST $1500.00 TO REPLACE. *TR
FAULTY TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. REPAIR COST $1350. DEALER WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM ONCE I MENTIONED THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING AND MENTIONED HE HAD JUST REPLACED ONE IN A DURANGO. I DID A LITTLE ONLINE RESEARCH AND AM FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON, EXPENSIVE AND KNOWN CHRYSLER ISSUE. I'M HOPING A RECALL IS CONDUCTED AND THAT OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSED. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK OVER WHEN ATTEMPTED TO START. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTED. FLASH UPDATES WERE PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE; HOWEVER, UPDATES DID NOT PREVENT ISSUE. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS FAULTY TIPM. TIPM REPLACED. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT STARTING THE VEHICLE WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AT FIRST, THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS COMING ON. I TOOK IT TO DISCOUNT TIRES AND THEY SAID THE AIR PRESSURE ON ALL 4 VEHICLES WAS FINE. TWO DAYS LATER, TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN. ONCE I WAS LEAVING WORK, I ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE AND AFTER ABOUT 5 TRIES, IT FINALLY STARTED. AT THIS POINT I WAS A BIT LEERY AND DECIDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALER AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. AT THE TIME THE REP STATED THAT HE COULD NOT LOOK AT THE VEHICLE UNTIL MONDAY BECAUSE HE TWO DAYS BEHIND. AFTER DESCRIBING TO HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON, HE INDICATED THAT THE STARTER SEEMED TO BE STICKING AND HE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY THAT IT MAY STALL WHILE DRIVING. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT. THE NEXT DAY, I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE TO DROP IT OFF AT THE DEALER. NO LUCK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I GAVE UP AND ENDED UP GETTING A RENTAL FOR THE WEEKEND. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY PART IN THE VEHICLE THAT HAS ENFORCED A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE FROM SEVERAL CHRYSLER, JEEP AND DODGE OWNERS. PREDOMINATELY OWNERS OF THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT REPAIRABLE, AND I DON'T SEE THE POINT IN TOWING IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY THEM $100 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DECLARED A NATIONWIDE ISSUE. I TOO AM A DEDICATED JEEP CUSTOMER AND REALLY WANT TO STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT, HOPEFULLY THIS WON'T TURN INTO A GM ISSUE. *TR

I BEGAN HAVING DIFFICULTIES STARTING MY VEHICLE ABOUT A WEEK AGO, THE ENGINE WOULD CONTINUALLY TURN OVER WITHOUT ACTUALLY STARTING (PUSH BUTTON START). CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL NUMBER14V-154. I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OFF AT SEVERAL DEALER SHIPS IN THE GREATER DETROIT AREA W/O SUCCESS DUE TO MISSING PARTS. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY JEEP WENT SUDDENLY OUT AND I BARELY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. I ESTIMATE THAT THE LOSS OF BRAKE POWER IS AROUND 80-90%. MANY TIMES I AM TOWING A BOAT AND IF THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CASE WHEN THE BRAKE BOOSTER WENT OUT I COULD NOT HAVE AVOIDED CRASHING INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. THE RE-CALL NOTICE IS TAKING THE ISSUE WAY TO LIGHTLY. " THE DRIVER MAY BE REQUIRED TO APPLY ADDITIONAL APPLICATION FORCE TO APPLY THE BRAKES DURING SUB FREEZING DRIVING CONDITIONS" THE FACT IT WITH ALL THE FORCE I COULD APPLY THE CAR BARELY CAME TO A STOP. NO WARNING ABOUT TO AVOID TOWING. AND CERTAINLY THE TEMPERATURE WHERE WAY ABOVE SUB FREEZING. SINCE THE INCIDENT I HAVE MY CAR IN THE SHOP AND AS OF TODAY NOBODY IS ABLE TO TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE PARTS. THIS ISSUE IS HUGE AND CHRYSLER HAS TO UNDERSTAND THE BIG POTENTIAL OF FATAL OR BADLY INJURED CRASHES ESPECIALLY WHEN CONSIDERING THE TOWING CAPABILITY OF THAT VEHICLE. I AM ALSO SURE THAT CHRYSLER IS SELLING NEW CARS WHICH HAVE THE NEW PART IN QUESTION INSTALLED INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF CURRENT OWNER HOW ARE IN DANGER LOSING THEIR BRAKES WHILE DRIVING DAILY. MY CAR'S WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT, BUT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HONOR IT. SAYING IT WAS A SECOND OWNER VEHICLE. SORRY, I BOUGHT THE WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HONORED. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON, WHILE MAKING A TURN IN RESIDENTIAL AREA, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP. THE RADIO, INSTRUMENT PANEL AND A/C WERE ALL STILL ON, SO DID NOT IMMEDIATELY REALIZE THE ENGINE WAS OFF. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER PUTTING VEHICLE INTO PARK. IT BEGAN A COUPLE OF WEEKS PRIOR TO 8/14/14 WHERE THE CAR WOULD TAKE SEVERAL TRIES TO START. I WOULD PRESS THE START BUTTON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND START.
