I HAD A RECALL P36/NHTSA 14V-154 AND CONTACTED THE DEALER. I SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR AUGUST 14, 2014 TO BRING THE CAR IN BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO INSPECT AND ORDER THE PART. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF FOR THE DAY, SO THEY COULD INSPECT IT, AND PICKED IT UP AT THE END OF THE DAY. IT IS SEPTEMBER 25, 2014, AND THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME OR RETURNED MY CALLS REGARDING THE REPAIR. I ALSO GOT A SECOND RECALL WHILE WAITING FOR FOLLOW-UP ON THE FIRST FOR THIS VEHICLE: P36/NHTSA 14V-391. I CALLED TO SET THAT APPOINTMENT FOR THE SAME TIME AS THEY REPAIR THE FIRST RECALL. I LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE RECEPTIONIST AND NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. I DO NOT FEEL AS THOUGH I NEED TO MANAGE THEIR RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE, AND THEY DO NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPTS TO MANAGE IT THEMSELVES OR RESPOND TO MY INQUIRIES. WHAT DO I DO FROM HERE? WHILE DRIVING UP THE FREEWAY RAMP AND ACCELERATING PAST 50 MPH THE ENTIRE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. HAD TO IMMEDIATELY GET OFF THE FREEWAY, STOP THE VEHICLE AND HAVE IT INSPECTED BY OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING INCIDENT FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD BEEN WAITING SINCE APRIL 1, 2014 FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE 400 PEOPLE ON THE WAITING LIST FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. UPDATED 01/07/14*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START IF THE MOTOR WAS NOT WARMED UP FIRST. IT WOULD TAKE 4-6 DIFFERENT STARTING ATTEMPTS/CYCLES IN ORDER TO START UP THE MOTOR. THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. UPDATED 06/8/2015 *JS
WHEN PRESSING START BUTTON, ENGINE CRANKS FOR ABOUT 8 SECONDS AND WON'T FIRE. CAN PRESS START BUTTON AGAIN, SOMETIMES STARTS ON 2ND OR 3RD TRY, SOMETIMES NOT UNTIL THE 6TH TRY. PROBLEM PROGRESSED TO A CONDITION WHERE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, BUT SPUTTERED AND DID NOT WANT TO STAY RUNNING. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE HOME SINCE IT WASN'T FAR AWAY. TOW TRUCK HAS TAKEN JEEP TO THE DEALER AND AM WAITING FOR PART TO ARRIVE FROM NEW YORK BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD IT MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE. PARTS AND LABOR ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, DEALER STATES THAT GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ONLY 42,000 MILES ON IT IS NOT STARTING PROPERLY. IT TRIES TO TURN OVER BUT SOMETIMES IT CAN TAKE 5 TIMES BEFORE I CAN GET IT TO START. I HAVE READ ONLINE MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND IT IS RELATED TO THE TIPM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. THANK YOU. *TR

HAD A PROBLEM STARTING THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON 8/27. WAS TOLD IT COULD BE THE TPIM AND/OR FUEL PUMP. PARTS ARE ORDERED, BUT THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF WHEN THEY'LL ARRIVE. NOW I'M IN A RENTAL. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2010. OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST YEAR THERE WERE MOMENTS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO START. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS THE HARD STARTING ONLY OCCURRED THE INITIAL START OF THE DAY. SUBSEQUENTLY, AUGUST 31ST - SEPTEMBER 5TH THE HARD START OCCURRED AT EVERY START THROUGH OUT THE DAY. I NO LONGER FELT COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT ANYWHERE FEELING LIKE I WOULD BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH A NEW TIPM BEING INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1000 FOR THE PART AND ANOTHER $411 IN LABOR AND TAX. *TR

ON SATURDAY MORNING AFTER PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE MY CAR STALLED AND LOST POWER STEERING. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED ENGINE IT WAS FINE. WENT TO OTHER STORE, PARKED IT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONCE I RETURNED TO LEAVE. WHEN I GOT HOME I SHUT OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND AFTER APP. 8 SECONDS I HEARD A SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE FUSE BOX AREA OR AT LEAST BEHIND THAT AREA . SOUNDED ELECTRICAL "VOOOP, VOOOP" I ALSO NOTICED WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE AROUND 30 MPH THE CAR HAD A HUGE DELAY, I HAD TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL PRACTICALLY TO THE FLOOR, AND THAN IT KICKED IN AND ZOOMED OFF. I FELT LIKE I WAS LOOSING POWER AND THAN THE CAR TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN! CRAZY FEELING!!! I FEEL AS THOUGH THE COMPUTER THAT IS IN CHARGE OF THE CAR IS OUT OF WRACK AND THE CAR HAS BECOME INCONSISTENT TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF WHAT COULD OCCUR NEXT. I ALSO LOST BRAKES THIS WINTER WHILE DRIVING DUE TO BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE WHICH EVENTUALLY BECAME A RECALL. I WAS SCARED THEN AND I'M AFRAID THIS INCIDENT MAY RESULT IN SOMETHING BIGGER AND WORSE. :( *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

WILL NOT START 10 TO 15 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD START. THEY PUT SOME KIND OF BYPASS RELAY IN IT.I THINK THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH TIPM SO THEY BYPASS PART OF IT WITH THIS RELAY. *TR
THE CAR WILL NOT START. THE CAR WILL CRANK AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO START AND THEN WILL NOT START. AFTER SOME TIME, IT MAY START AND THEN APPEARS LIKE FUEL WAS NOT GETTING TO THE ENGINE AND THEN STALL. THEN WHEN I TRY TO START IT AGAIN, IT WOULD NOT START. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME IT IS THE TIPM. COMPLAINTS WITH THE TIPM FOR THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE. FEEL FREE TO LOOK IT UP ON VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS. EVEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP KNOWS THAT TIPM IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CAR. PLEASE INITIATE A RECALL OF THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE TIPM CONTROLS THE POWER / SWITCHING / COMMUNICATIONS AMONGST VARIOUS PARTS OF THE CAR. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR ANYBODY TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH A FAULTY TIPM. THANK YOU. *TR

RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE BRAKES. TOOK THE TRUCK INTO GOLLING JEEP IN BLOOMFIELD HILLS MI ON 8-7-14. WAS CALLED BACK TO LET ME KNOW IT WAS ALSO A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. I BROUGHT MY JEEP IN TO MEADOWLAND FORD IN CARMEL NY FOR RECALL P14 ON AUGUST 6,2014. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT CAME IN. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO START MY 2011 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE AND IT WOULD NOT START, ONLY A CLICKING NOISE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THE TIPM IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. OBVIOUSLY, MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY NOW. THE PART ALONE IS OVER $900.00, WHICH SEEMS QUESTIONABLE THAT SOMETHING WOULD GO BAD SO QUICKLY ON A VEHICLE AND COST SO MUCH TO REPAIR. BESIDES THE COST, THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND EVEN MORE SERIOUS WITH THE ENGINE CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. IS SOMEONE GOING TO RECALL THIS ITEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR EVEN KILLED????? I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, AND ALL MY PREVIOUS CHRYSLER/JEEP VEHICLES THINKING THEY WERE SAFE FOR MY FAMILY; NOW I'M NOT SO SURE. DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE TIPM! OUR JEEP REQUIRES THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) TO BE REPLACED. THIS SYSTEM STARTS THE CAR. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR A MOTORIST TO BE STRANDED WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING ABLE TO START. *TR

THE TIPA IS DEFECTIVE AND THE FUEL PUMP WON'T TURN ON, THEREFORE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO START. I HAVE TO PAY $1300 TO REPAIR THIS AS THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND LEARNING THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON DEFECT IN THE JEEPS. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO, MY JEEP HAD PROBLEMS STARTING. WHEN PUSHING THE START BUTTON, IT WOULD JUST TURN OVER AND OVER BUT FAIL TO FIRE UP. SHUT IT OFF, WAIT, RESTART THE PROCESS IS THE ONLY WAY TO FINALLY GET IT TO START. THE PROBLEM NOW HAS PROGRESSED TO ALMOST EVERY TIME AND 5-6 X TO FINALLY START. I KNOW THIS SITE WANTS ME TO LOG EACH INCIDENT SEPARATELY, BUT I'D BE DOING THAT 5X A DAY...UGH! NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO A $1200+ REPAIR FOR A KNOWN ISSUE! MAY BE MY LAST JEEP IF THEY DON'T FIX IT! LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS DO NOT HAVE PARTS TO CORRECT BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL P14 / NHTSA 14V-154. HAVE BEEN WAITING 3 MONTHS FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. DEALERSHIPS SAY PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED AND THEY HAVE NO ESTIMATE ON WHEN NEW PARTS WILL ARRIVE. RECALL IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. *TR

I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN LATE JULY/ EARLY AUGUST WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE ISSUES STARTING. I REPLACED THE BATTERIES IN THE KEY FOB, BUT IT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AS THE PROBLEMS HAD CONTINUED AND INCREASED. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD READ ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THE TIPM, BUT THEY DISREGARDED MY CONCERN AND TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER WAS NOT READING THE KEYS AND I NEEDED TO ORDER NEW ONES, WHICH I DID. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS GIVING ME THE SAME PROBLEMS OF NOT STARTING. HE SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING IF I COULD NOT RECREATE IT, SO I KEPT DRIVING IT KNOWING THAT IT MAY OR MAY NOT START. YESTERDAY, 10/28 THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING AS THE PROBLEM WAS STILL OCCURRING. TODAY THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS INDEED THE TIPM THAT WAS FAULTY AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, MY ENGINED BEGAN STALLING WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. FINALLY MY CAR WOULD NOT START UP AND REQUIRED TOWING. THROUGHOUT THIS TIME, ABNORMAL NOISES COULD BE HEARD FROM THE STARTER. THE DEALER TRIED TO REPAIR IT BY REPLACING THE CHRYSLER JEEP TAFN KIT AND CHARGED ME $1,361 FOR THE SERVICE. BUT THE CAR WAS STILL NOT REPAIRED AND WORKING PROPERLY SINCE IT CONTINUED STALLING WHILE DRIVING PARTICULARLY ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT ACCELERATING, SHOWING THE ELECTRONIC STABILIZER LIGHT GOING ON ALONG WITH NO POWER, AND EMITTING SCREECHING NOISES WHEN TURNED ON. AGAIN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE MECHANIC CLAIMED THAT IT "MIGHT BE CAM SENSOR" AND CHARGED ME AGAIN ($324) FOR A REPAIR SERVICE THAT HAD NO IMPACT EXCEPT TO MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE. SO THE CAR IS STILL NOT REPAIRED OR FUNCTIONING AND CONTINUES TO EXHIBIT THE SAME PROBLEMS DESCRIBE ABOVE. IN NOVEMBER OF THIS YEAR, I RECEIVED A RECALL (P54) NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT A FUEL PUMP RELAY PROBLEM THAT DESCRIBED THE PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY CAR WHICH LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS; BUT YOU CAN SEE, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. IN ITS RECALL MESSAGE, CHRYSLER RECOMMENDED THAT I CONTACT YOU IF MY DEALER HAS FAILED OR HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHOUT CHARGE. I HAVE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH APPROXIMATELY 32K MILES. I BEGAN SEEING AN ISSUE SEVERAL WEEKS AGO WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT WOULDN'T START (USING PUSH BUTTON STARTER). OVER THE PAST YEAR I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM RANGING FROM A BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH TO HAVING EITHER A ROCK HARD BRAKE PEDAL OR A VERY SOFT PEDAL. THE ROCK HARD PEDAL HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF IT IS TO PUMP THE BRAKES. WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF A SOFT PEDAL AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THEY CLAIM THAT EVERYTHING IS FINE. ONCE TELLING ME THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS A LOOSE MASTER CYLINDER CAP. LAST WEEK AS I WAS LEAVING WORK MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE ONLY BRAKE POWER THAT I HAVE IS APPROXIMATELY 1" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PEDAL THROW AND IT IS ALL MANUAL. I DROVE TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD A TECH DRIVE MY CAR AND HE DIAGNOSED A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. THE DEALER CONNECT SYSTEM WAS DOWN SO THEY SAID TO GO AHEAD AND DRIVE IT HOME AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WITH THE ETA ON THE PARTS. I NEVER GOT THAT CALL AND I HAD TO CALL THE DEALER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE BOOSTER IS ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER WITH NO ETA. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER AND FILED A CLAIM/CASE WITH THEM. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I HAVE EXPRESSED THIS WITH EVERY PERSON THAT I HAVE TALKED TO FROM THE DEALER TO THE REPS AT CHRYSLER. NO ONE IS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE NO SAFE TO DRIVE, I WAS JUST TOLD THAT THEY WOULD KEEP IN CONTACT WITH ME EVERY 4-5 DAYS. I HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED FOR A LOANER BUT THE REPS AT CHRYSLER JUST TELL ME THAT IF I WANT ONE IT WOULD BE OUT OF MY POCKET AND IT'S NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE LOANERS. THE JEEP WOULD NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY. IT EITHER CRANKS AND CRANKS AND NEVER TURNS OVER, OR IT TURNS OVER BUT NEVER REACHES A GOOD IDLE STATE AND JUST SHUTS OFF. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, IT WOULD FINALLY START AND BE OK UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I LEAVE IT ALONE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. WHEN TRYING TO START MY JEEP ON FRIDAY 7/25 I FOUND THAT WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. IT WOULD ENGAGE AND ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER BUT WOULD NOT START. I TESTED THE BATTERY AND IT READ TO BE NORMAL AND UPON FURTHER REVIEW I FOUND MANY OTHER CONSUMERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY NOT START. I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING ONLINE OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND IT ALL POINT TO THE (TIPM). MY CAR DOES NOT START, AND WHEN IT STARTS, IT STALLS RIGHT AWAY. THE TRUCK EVEN STALLED WHILE RUNNING, LUCKILY I WAS GOING LESS THAN 35 MPH WITH VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC, I COULD ONLY IMAGINE IF THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING LIKE 60 MPH. I DRIVE WITH MY WIFE, 2 CHILDREN AND A NEWBORN AND DO NOT WANT TO PUT THEIR LIVES AT RISK BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE GOING ON FOR A WHILE AND NOBODY SEEMS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. I TESTED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND IT IS NOT RELIABLY SENDING POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP. THE RELAY CANNOT BE INDIVIDUALLY REPLACED, THE WHOLE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. *TR
ON JULY 19, 2014 MY VEHICLE CEASED TO START PROPERLY. IT WOULD TURN OVER AND OVER AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WOULD FINALLY START. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF STALLING AT A STOP SIGN OR EXITING THE FREEWAY THEN DIFFICULTY RESTARTING. THIS BECAME MORE AND MORE FREQUENT, AND EACH TIME MY MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE. SEPTEMBER 4TH IS THE LAST DAY THAT MY CAR STARTED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHO AFTER HAVING POSSESSION OF MY VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE ISSUE, FOUND THROUGH RESEARCH THAT CHRYSLER HAD ANNOUNCED A MASSIVE RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT RANCHO JEEP FOR RECALL P54 REPAIR AT 10AM NOVEMBER 1. 10/31/14, 3PM, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE AN EMAIL NOTIFICATION. AFTER LETTING THE JEEP SIT, IT STARTED UP AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND WE WENT DIRECTLY TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. THEY PLUGGED IN A CODE-READER, FOUND NO CODES, AND SENT US ON OUR WAY.
