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
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING THE SERVICE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HAD EXCEEDED THE REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LEFT A MESSAGE IN REGARDS TO THE DELAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
UPON SLOWING DOWN AT NORMAL DECELERATION RATES, THE BRAKES LOST POWER ALLOWING CAR TO ROLL THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND DOES NOT EXHIBIT ANY OBSERVABLE PATTERN (OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, ETC). THE DEALER FIRST SAID IT WAS THE ROTORS GLAZING, BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TURNED THEM AND THE FREQUENCY HAS NOT REDUCED. THE SECOND VISIT FOUND NO ISSUES AFTER IT WAS AGAIN REPORTED. A THIRD PARTY RESOURCE INDICATED THAT IT COULD BE THE MASTER CYLINDER GASKET/SEAL. SINCE THIS ISSUE DOES NOT OCCUR REGULARLY AND HAS NOT BEEN "OBSERVED" BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE PART. SINCE IT DOES HAPPEN AT A RATE OF ONLY 1-2 TIMES PER WEEK, IT IS TOUGH TO COMPENSATE FOR AND/OR PREDICT WHEN IT WILL OCCUR CAUSING LACK OF CONFIDENCE. OTHER NOTES ARE THAT ABS DOES NOT KICK IN DURING THE LOSS OF POWER AND THE PEDAL IS PUSHED IN AS FAR AS POSSIBLE WITH THE CAR STILL MOVING FORWARD BETWEEN 5-10MPH ONLY DECELERATING SLIGHTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2011 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE DIFFERENT TIMES FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIANS PERFORMED A FLASH UPDATE AND REPLACED THE WIN MODULE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,450.
I HAVE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND.THE VEHICLE CLUNKS IN THE REAR END GOING OVER BUMPS AT LOW SPEEDS. TURNS OUT THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE SHOCKS/SHOCK MOUNTS. IT ONLY AFFECTS VEHICLES WITH QUADRA LIFT SUSPENSION AND TOWING PACKAGE. INCLUDING THE ORIGINALS, I HAVE HAD 4 SETS OF REAR SHOCKS PUT ON--WITH 3 INDIVIDUAL SHOCKS BREAKING-WHICH I CONSIDER A SAFETY HAZARD. FROM REPORTS ON JEEPGARAGE.ORG, THERE ARE AT LEAST 12 OF US IN THAT SMALL GROUP RANGING FROM 2011 TO 2014 MODEL YEARS WITH THIS ISSUE. I MADE 5 OR 6 100 MILE ROUND TRIPS TO THE DEALER WHO CHANGED SHOCKS AS HE WAS TOLD TO BY CHRYSLER. THEY CAME OUT WITH 3 DIFFERENT SHOCK TYPES (#'S) AND SHOCK MOUNTS TO FIX THIS-NO SUCCESS. NOW ONE OF OUR GROUP WITH A 2013 JGC LAREDO HAS BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS "NORMAL TO HAVE CLUNKING"-EVEN AFTER HE TOLD THEM THAT ONE SHOCK WAS COMPLETELY FROZEN.THEY ALSO HAVE HAD 2 OR 3 TSB'S ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM WITH INEFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS. SO NOW A "PROBLEM" IS NORMAL. ALL ANY OF US WANT IS FOR OUR SHOCKS TO BE SAFE AND QUIET ON VEHICLES WE PAID OVER 40K FOR. PERHAPS YOU CAN HOLD CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND IS CURRENTLY PEELING AND IS ESSENTIALLY DEFECTIVE. AFTER TALKING WITH JEEP AND MY LOCAL DEALER ABOUT REPLACEMENT THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR ON MY OWN. *TR
THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A ADAPTIVE SPEED SENSOR THAT KEEPS THE VEHICLE AT A PRESET DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. VEHICLE IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM WHICH WARNS THE DRIVER TO BRAKE IF IT SENSES AN APPROACH OF AN OBJECT THAT IS UNSAFE. THE PROBLEMS: THE SYSTEM WILL SHUT IT SELF OFF, FLASHING A WARNING THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AND SHUTS OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AS WELL. SYSTEM ALWAYS RESETS ITSELF AFTER MINUTES, OR LONGER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL ONCE AGAIN, WORK. SAFETY ISSUE THE SYSTEM HAS THE ABILITY TO BRAKE ON ITS OWN IF IT SENSES YOU ARE APPROACHING A VEHICLE TOO FAST WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT A CAR MAY TURN OFF IN A SEPARATE LANE TO DECELERATE OR BE IN A SEPARATE LANE TO ACCELERATE AND THE SENSOR THINKS THE CAR IS IN FRONT OF IT AND STARTS BRAKING SEVERELY CAUSE IT THINKS IT IS IN ITS PATH. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN SINCE ANY DRIVER BEHIND ME WOULD NOT BE EXPECTING ME TO BRAKE WHEN CARS ARE NOT IN MY PATH. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO JEEP DEALER FOR NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. RIGHT NOW CHRYSLER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIRING DEALERSHIP, IF CHRYSLER DID DECIDE TO REPLACE THE PART, ITS ON BACK ORDER. *TR
2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE STALLED THEN TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO THE STEER THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, THEY BLINKERS DID NOT WORK AND THE DASHBOARD WAS DARK. THE ONLY DISPLAY ON THE SASH WAS THE RADIO/NAVIGATION DISPLAY AND THE CENTER CONSOLE TEXT INDICATING HOW TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKE AND THE START BUTTON, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. WHEN SHE SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH, SHE PUSHED THE TRANSMISSION LEVER HARD INTO PARK, HOPING TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE WAS NOT COMMUNICATING CORRECTLY WITH THE OTHER MODULES ASSOCIATED WITH OPERATING THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY. AN UPDATE WAS PERFORMED ON THE MODULES, INCLUDING THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE. HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. ON JANUARY 9, 2013, A SIMILAR SYMPTOM OCCURRED AGAIN. WHEN THE CONSUMER PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON, THE VEHICLE STARTED, BUT IT ONLY LASTED FOR A MOMENT. IT THEN SHUT DOWN AND THE CENTER CONSOLE TEXT DISPLAYED ON HOW TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER THEN PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE PUSH BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN, BUT SHUT DOWN MINUTES LATER. WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS PHYSICALLY PLACED IN THE IGNITION LOCATION, THE VEHICLE STARTED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. *JB
JEEP WAS HEADED EAST BOUND IN TO LIGHTED INTERSECTION. 2ND CAR HEADED WEST MADE A LEFT ACROSS THE EAST BOUND LANE. THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN THE EAST BOUND CAR HIT THE CAR THAT WAS TURNING. THE SPEED OF THE IMPACT WAS 40 PLUS MILES PER HOUR. THE AIR BAGS IN THE JEEP DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE PRE-OWNED WITH 28,000 MI ON IT AND A YEAR OLD, AFTER A MONTH OF HAVING IT, THE CAR WOULD CONTINUE TO HAVE DIFFICULTY STARTING. BROUGHT TO DEALER THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE. BY THE 3RD TIME THEY REPLACED STARTER. CAR STILL HAD PROBLEMS. NOW A YEAR LATER AND OUT OF WARRANTY IT IS STILL OCCURRING (ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS COLD).. BROUGHT BACK TO JEEP AND THEY NOW SAY IT IS THE TIPM AND WILL BE $1000 TO FIX. EVENTHOUGH THIS WAS THERE 3X UNDER WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT COVER COST. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE SINCE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR APPROX 2 MONTHS AND THERE ARE 100S AND 100S OF POSTS ABOUT THIS. *TR
PURCHASED 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND USED IN SUMMER OF 2012. 3RD JEEP AND HAVE STAYED WITH JEEP BECAUSE FELT THEY WERE A SAFE RELIABLE CAR. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE THE CAR WOULD SOUND LIKE IT WAS "COMPUTING" NEAR THE ENGINE--WHILE OFF AND KEY NOT NEAR CAR. TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL. ALARM STARTED TO GO OFF FOR NO REASON, DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHT ON DRIVER SIDE STOPPED WORKING (NOT BULB) AND STARTED WORKING A FEW DAYS LATER ON ITS OWN. CAR NO START OR HARD START SEVERAL TIMES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON AND OFF, KEY NOT FOUND, ETC. 5/19/14 EXITING HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 75 MPH (59,000 MILES) BRAKES DON'T WORK. CAR SLOWS BUT WON'T STOP. NO LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR BRAKE PROBLEM. IT WAS PETRIFYING. CALLED DEALER IN MORNING AND THEY INDICATED NOT WARRANTY AND NOT RECALL SO ORDERED BRAKE BOOSTER FROM DEALER AND REPLACED. WAS WITHOUT VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. 5/28/14 DRIVING APPROX. 75 ON HIGHWAY--DASH LIGHTS FLASH, CAR SHAKES AND SHUDDERS UNCONTROLLABLY, SCREEN READS SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND ETC CODE. EXIT HIGHWAY CAR HAS NO SUSPENSION. STOP MAKE PHONE CALL AND RESTART CAR AND NO LIGHTS, WARNINGS, AND SUSPENSION BACK. DRIVING 35 MPH ON BUSY CITY STREET (IN FRONT OF SCHOOL) CAR DASH FLASHES AND GOES BLACK--A RED LIGHTNING BOLT APPEARS AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING, HAZARD LIGHTS, SUSPENSION, ETC. I WAS TERRIFIED! PUSHED DOWN ACCELERATOR AND CAR STARTS BACK UP (SIMILAR TO DEPRESSING GAS PEDDLE ON GOLF CART). TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED A BRAKE SENSOR AND THE SUSPENSION WORKED. SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. TIPM MUST BE THE CAUSE BASED ON 1000S OF OWNERS COMMENT. FILED COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER TODAY. FRIGHTENED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER CARS, PEOPLE, ETC. DRIVE OVER 100 MILES PER DAY ON HIGHWAY. CAN'T OBTAIN TIPM PART. MUST USE CAR TO WORK BUT SAFETY CONCERNS WITH DRIVING. *TR
TRIED TO ENTER VEHICLE. WOULD NOT UNLOCK USING PASSIVE KEY FOB. HAD TO USE A KEY TO UNLOCK DOOR. ONCE DOOR UNLOCKED, THE SECURITY HORN STARTED. HAD TO RE-LOCK DOOR TO SHUT HORN OFF. DOOR WOULD NOW UNLOCK USING PASSIVE SYSTEM. HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THE VEHICLE NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEY FOB. HAD TO TAKE IT OUT OF MY POCKET AND HOLD IT CLOSE TO THE DASH OR OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. *TR
KEYFIT 30 BASE WON'T STAY TIGHT, IT SLOWLY BECOMES LOOSE AND THE LOCK LOOKS SPRUNG. WHEN I COMPARE THE TWO LOCKS THERE IS A CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES. I'VE TAKEN PICTURES TO DOCUMENT THE VARIATION. *TR
DIAGNOSED AS TIPM PROBLEM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) CAR INITIALLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH HEADLAMPS AND WIPERS MALFUNCTIONING, THEN IGNITION WOULDN'T TURN OVER AND THEN WHEN IT FINALLY DID THE CAR COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF! BROUGHT CAR STRAIGHT TO JEEP DEALER AFTER IT WOULDN'T TURN OFF AND WAS TOLD IT WAS TIPM. THEY SAID PART WAS BACK ORDERED OVER A MONTH AND CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN IN THE MEANTIME. THIS IS A HUGE CONSUMER PROBLEM ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH MULTIPLE MODEL JEEPS AND SEVERAL MODEL YEARS. THE PART IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AND I WAS EVEN TOLD A BOAT SANK AND THAT IT WHY IT IS BACK ORDERED NATIONALLY FOR MONTHS. LOOKING AT OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ONLINE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. CARS ARE NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND PEOPLE ARE WAITING MONTHS FOR THE PART. *JB
THE REMOTE START ON THE JEEP STARTS BUT DOES NOT RUN. I WAS TOLD THE TIPM WAS BAD IN IT AND CUTS OFF FUEL TO THE JEEP AND ALSO CAUSES THE AR BAGS NOT TO WORK, ALSO CONTROLS ALOT OF OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS ON THE JEEP. I FEEL JEEP SHOULD HAVE ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON THIS PART AS THEY KNOW THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS ANAD THEY ARE PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER WHILE DRIVING. I UNDERTAND THERE ARE SO MANY BAD THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR "SEVERAL MONTHS". THIS IS NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER TO BE PLACED IN THIS KIND OF DANGER, NOR NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE PART FOR OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. *TR
THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO THEN NOW AT 25K MILES CLUNKING SOUND FROM REAR END THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE SHOCKS AND SHOCK MOUNTS FOR THE 2ND TIME.. NO REASON WHY BUT I AM NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AM I GOING HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING LEFT, HE WAS CRASHED INTO BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. NON OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS IN REGARDS TO THE AIR BAGS PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS PRESENT AND A REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE AIRBAG FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 24,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INDEPENDENTLY INTO A LOWER GEAR AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND LUNGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT STATED THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY A SOFTWARE FAILURE. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPGRADED. THREE MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT STATED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. A MONTH LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD THE CONTACT THAT A DEVICE INSTALLED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY MIGHT BE CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,358 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 01/03/13
MY ISSUE IS WITH THE A/C EVAPORATOR IN MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS ON THE ROAD WITH THE A/C IN USE THE EVAPORATOR FREEZES UP AND AIR STOPS BLOWING OUT OF THE VENTS. I CAN STILL HEAR THE A/C WORKING BUT NOTHING BLOWS OUT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ONGOING AND REOCCURRING PROBLEM BUT HAS DETERMINED THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FIX IT. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I JUST USE THE A/C ON A WARMER SETTING OR TURN IT OFF AFTER IT FREEZES UP AND WAIT A WHILE FOR IT TO THAW OUT. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE FIX FOR A PROBLEM THAT I HAVE AND THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS ON THAT DAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT GIVING ME A RUN AROUND. THE VEHICLE SPENT THE NIGHT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS CHECKED THE FOLLOWING DAY. I RECEIVED A CALL THAT MY VEHICLE IS READY AND WAS INFORMED THAT A FLASH WAS DONE AND A NEW COMPUTER HAD TO BE ORDERED THAT'S WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. ON 6/21/12 I PICKED IT UP ONCE AGAIN IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE WORKING GREAT BECAUSE THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. LESS THAN AN HOUR LATER IT DID NOT WANT TO START AGAIN. I CARRIED IT BACK DOWN ON 6/22/12 AND ON THE WAY THERE THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. MONTHS AND MOTHS WENT BY WITH ME HAVING THIS ISSUE UNTIL THEY PLACED A DEVICE ON MY VEHICLE TO RECORD WHAT'S HAPPENING. AFTER KEEPING MY VEHICLE FOR A WHOLE DAY TO REMOVE THE DEVICE, A WEEK LATER THEY SAID IT DID NOT RECORD ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WENT DEAD. BACK IN JUNE 2012 I BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS GIVING A HARD START AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING. UPON TAKING IT OFF THEY TOLD ME THE DEVICE DID NOT READ HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE FIXED. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, IT CAME RIGHT BACK TO HAUNT ME THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN. WHEN I'M GOING 60-65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND CLIMATE CONTROL OPENS INTAKE FOR OUTSIDE AIR, WITH MY EYES BECOMING WATERY FROM ALLERGY, I HAD TO FIND THAT RECIRCULATION BUTTON TO REENGAGE IT. IT HAPPENS EXACTLY EVERY 5 MINUTES. WHEN I BROUGHT VEHICLE TO JEEP'S DEALER THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'S THE WAY SYSTEM BUILT AND THERE CAN BE TWO WAYS TO ELIMINATED THE HAZARD: COMPLETE SHUT DOWN OF INTAKE OR CLIMATE CONTROL PROGRAM UPDATE. DEALER EXAMINED CAR, WORKED WITH MANUFACTURER BUT SINCE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE "DUPLICATED" THEY WOULD TAKE NO FURTHER ACTION. ALL INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHILE IN TOWN OF RESIDENCE. HE ENTERED THE ISSUE AS A WARRANTY CLAIM. MY OWN RESEARCH HAS TURNED UP OTHER STEERING ISSUES WITH THE JEEP WRANGLER THAT SOUND SIMILAR. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE AT SUCH A LOW SPEED AND IN A PARKING GARAGE. I AM SURE IF IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE WOULD BE MULTIPLE FATALITIES. I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR CARGO DOOR USING AUTOMATIC MOTORIZED OPENING SYSTEM. THE DOOR BEGAN TO OPEN AND THEN STARTED TO GENERATE SOME LOUD, UNUSUAL SOUNDS; AS IF THE DOOR WAS UNDER SOME TYPE OF STRESS. BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE DOOR THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARD TOWARD ME. THE GLASS SHOT OUT ABOUT 6 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. I RECEIVED GLASS CUTS ON MY FACE AND ARMS ALTHOUGH IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT BY THE DEALER. THEY BELIEVE THAT SOME FOREIGN OBJECT LODGED UNDER THE ROOF TOP REAR SPOILER. THE SPOILER IS ATTACHED TO THE WINDOW GLASS AND MOVES BACK WHEN THE DOOR OPENS. SINCE IT WAS 9 DEGREES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, I BELIEVE THAT ICE HAD FORMED UNDER THE SPOILER. I BELIEVE THAT THE DESIGN OF THE REAR OPENING MECHANISM IS FLAWED. THE MOTOR SHOULD HAVE SENSED THAT IT WAS EXERTING AN UNDO AMOUNT OF FORCE IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DORR AND SHOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF OR DISABLED ITSELF, SIMILAR TO HOW GARAGE DOORS OPERATE WHEN THERE IS A RESTRICTION SENSED. CHRYSLER/JEEP WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE INCIDENT BUT REFUSED TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INCIDENT AND THE FAULTY DESIGN. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (RON SAYER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE IN IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT BOTH THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOORS LATER EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON SPORADICALLY/RANDOMLY FOR DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF TIME AND THEN SHUTS OFF. WHEN TAKEN TO JEEP THEY FOUND THE ERROR CODE FOR THE AIR BAG LIGHT TURNING ON HOWEVER DIDN'T FIND ANY DEFECTS. SO THEY RESET THE COMPUTER TO CLEAR THE NOTE THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. THAT LASTED ABOUT 3 DAYS AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON AT A RANDOM TIME WHILE DRIVING. I WILL BE RETURNING BACK TO JEEP NEXT WEEK TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. CONCERN IS WHETHER OR NOT THE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY PROPERLY IF IN AN ACCIDENT OR WHETHER IT WOULD DEPLOY WHEN IT SHOULDN'T WHILE DRIVING. JEEP SAID THEY CHECKED FOR A BLOWN FUSE AND FOUND NONE. RECENTLY HAVING ISSUES WHILE TRYING TO START MY 2011 JEEP GC. THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT START THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AND BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. DECEMBER 5, 2011 VEHICLE REMOTE STARTED, SHUT OFF AND FAILED TO RESTART. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, RELATED THAT IT WAS A KEY PROGRAMMING ISSUE. DECEMBER 9, 2011 VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, RELATED THAT IT WAS A CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE. DECEMBER 12, 2011 VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, RELATED IT WAS A "TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE" AND A BLOCK FUSE. VEHICLE REMAINED OUT OF SERVICE UNTIL JANUARY 11, 2012. JANUARY 11, 2012 VEHICLE PICKED UP DRIVEN 170 MILES, TURNED OFF WOULD NOT START, TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. JANUARY 17, 2012 DEALERSHIP RELATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A UNDETERMINED ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED, CHRYSLER HAD OPEN A "CHRYSLER STAR CASE" ON THE VEHICLE. JANUARY 18, 2012 CONTACTED BY DEALERSHIP RELATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED, REPLACED BATTERY AND THAT RESOLVED ALL PROBLEMS. VEHICLE HAS HAD FOUR SEPARATE ELECTRONIC COMPONENT FAILURES AND HAS NOT BEEN PICKED UP SINCE RELEASE DATE JANUARY 18, 2012. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS AN ELECTRONIC ANOMALIES THAT RENDER THE VEHICLE UNRELIABLE. *KB
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 11/23/2011. THE CAR HAD 308 MILES ON ODOMETER. ON 11/25/2011 AS WE WERE GOING OUT OF TOWN THE VEHICLE'S DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM WARNING APPEARED, WITH A SYMBOL "MIL" INDICATING A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT. I CHECKED THE FUEL TANK CAP AND IT WAS TIGHT, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER/JEEP DEALERSHIP IN HAMPTONROADS, VA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED OUT THE PROBLEM AND DETERMINED IT TO BE A # 6 CYLINDER, MISFIRE-COIL FAILURE. NONE WERE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSON STATED THAT IT WAS OK TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE LOCALLY BUT SUGGESTED IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN, AS IT WOULD NOT GET VERY GOOD GAS MILEAGE! WE STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, HOWEVER; APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AFTER WE DEPARTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE CAUGHT A FIRE AND BURNED THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT/FRONT OF VEHICLE. WE, MY WIFE AND I ESCAPED WITHOUT PHYSICAL HARM, BUT HAD TO STAND BY AND WATCH IT BURN UNTIL THE FIREDEPARTMENT ARRIVED. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INSTALLED INSUFFICIENT ROTORS AND DID NOT SECURE THE TIRES CAUSING THEM TO FRACTURE. THE CONTACT HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO HAVE THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM REINSTALL THE CORRECT ROTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE INTERMITTENTLY RECURRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
DROVE VEHICLE ON THE BEACH CAPE HATTERAS NC. FROM RAMP 44 TO CAPE POINT ABOUT 1 1/2 MILE.VEHICLE GOT STUCK I BACKED UP AND PULLED FORWARD 2 TIMES VERY GENTLY.
