MY VEHICLE IS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING AND MY FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO PUMP AFTER THE VEHICLE IS OFF WHICH IS KILLING MY BATTERY. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND ITS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT START. APPARENTLY ALL OF THE 2011 SUV JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE TIPM. THE PART WILL COST ME OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR AND THE PART IS ON BACKORDER. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO GET TO WORK. I HAVE BAD KNEES AND A BAD BACK AND CANNOT CONTINUE TAKING THE BUS. I AM A TEACHER AND HAVE BEEN LATE GETTING TO SCHOOL FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS. *TR
1. AFTER 2300 ORIGINAL MILES ON ODOMETER, VEHICLE DEVELOPED A VIBRATION IN "COAST" MODE (FOOT OFF GAS, SLACK IN DRIVE TRAIN) BETWEEN ABOUT 45 TO 30 MPH. DEALERSHIP HAS KEPT IT OVERNITE, TEST DRIVEN IT, AND CONTACTED JEEP "ENGINEERS" ABOUT PROBLEM, NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. DEALER CAN'T "DUPLICATE" PROBLEM, AND "ENGINEERS ARE LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION, WITH LESS THAN A HANDFUL OF REPORTS ON 2011 OVERLAND'S THROUGHOUT USA". 2. THE DEALER SERVICE REP ONCE SAID THAT A DEALERSHIP MECHANIC WAS WORKING ON A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH A LIMITED OR LAREDO MODEL. 3. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP NEW AND ORDERED IT WITH CERTAIN OPTIONS I WANTED. I BOUGHT IT TO LAST ME THRU MY RETIREMENT YEARS, BEING A TOP RATED 4X4. IT NOW HAS 20,000 MILES ON IT, STILL HAS THE VIBRATION, AND AFTER SPORADICALLY CHECKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP DURING SERVICE OR RECALL WORK FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS(!!!!), A SOLUTION HAS NOT BEEN REACHED. 4. THERE'S ALWAYS A "WHAT IF" IN THE BACK OF MY MIND ON WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT I'M AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65-80 MPH HERE) AND THE DRIVETRAIN COMPONENT (TRANNY, TRANSFER CASE, REAR AXLE, DRIVE SHAFT) THAT'S CAUSING THIS VIBRATION SUDDENLY DISINTEGRATES. 5. OTHER NON-DEALERSHIP MECHANICS AGREE WITH ME ON THE ABOVE LISTED SUSPECT COMPONENTS BASED ON WHERE I FEEL THE VIBRATION (LITERALLY IN THE SEAT OF MY PANTS).
THE FIRST 3 WEEKS I HAD THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. I RETURNED TO THE LITHIA DEALERSHIP IN SANTA FE 3 TIMES TO HAVE IT CORRECTED. THEY ACCUSED ME OF FUELING THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I DO NOT FUEL MY CARS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 4,000K MILES BECAUSE THE ROBOT AT THE FACTORY DID NOT SEAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FILTER PROPERLY AND METAL FLAKES WERE FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN AS A RESULT WHICH DAMAGED THE VALVE BOX. THE VEHICLE STILL ACTS ODD AT TIMES ' JERKING SLIGHTLY WHEN CHANGING GEARS. AT 45 MPH WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD CHANGE GEARS BY ITSELF INTO FIRST GEAR. A YOUNG TECH HAD BEEN READING A SERVICE UPDATE BULLETIN AND KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT REQUIRED A PATCH'FOR THE COMPUTER AND A DOWNLOAD TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT DURING THIS TIME. I HAVE HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE JEEP NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEY FOB UPON ENTRY AND OR TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE. FORGET THE EMERGENCY KEY THAT IS INSIDE THE KEY FOB IT WAS NEVER PROPERLY KEYED SO YOU COULD USE IT IN AN EMERGENCY. AT 15,000K MILES THE FRONT SWAY BAR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN OFF-ROAD AND FOR THE SWAY BAR TO BREAK DOWN LIKE THAT IS INEXCUSABLE. SUDDEN UNEXPLAINED ACCELERATION. *TR
2011 JEEP OVERLAND HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN 08-029-10. MY VEHICLE HAS BEENIN DEALERSHIP SIX TIMES FOR LIFTGATE NOT OPENING WHEN IT IS IN THE HEAT AND SUN IN ARIZONA. CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGES THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN METAL ON HATCH. REACHES 140 DEGREES WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO ABOUT 100 DAYS IN THE SOUTHWEST. IS THIS A SAFETY HAZARD AND WHAT OBLIGATION DOES CHRYSLER HAVE? THEY TOLD ME TO LIVE WITH IT IN THE SUMMERTIME. CHRYSLER CLAIMS NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO REPAIR NO OPENING LIFTGATE. *TR

DRIVING THE VEHICLE DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AT SPEEDS OF 30-40 MILES PER HOUR TRANSMISSION CONSISTENTLY SHUTTERS (ROUGH SHIFTING) CAUSING OWNER OPERATOR TO LEAVE TRANSMISSION IS MAUAL SELECTION 4TH SPEED. (GEAR SELECTION 1,2,3,4,5,D) LEAVING THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE HAS GENERATED RATTLING NOISES AND TRANSMISSION LUGGING (SHUTTERING) WHEN IN AUTOMATIC SELECTION "D". TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 641.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TOWARD THE RIGHT WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. UPON EXAMINING THE BRAKES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WERE SAND HOLES IN THE ROTOR CASTING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT REQUIRE ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. RUST HOLES IN FRONT BRAKE ROTOR ON RIGHT SIDE. UPDATED 10/05/2011 *LN *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING, HE WAS UNABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER DUE TO A GLARE FROM THE SUN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WITH THE GLASS ON THE SPEEDOMETER SET AT THE WRONG ANGLE. SOMETIMES, NOT OFTEN WHEN I USE THE CABLE TV REMOTE MY VEHICLE STARTS UP IN THE GARAGE AND RUNS FOR 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL I TURN IT OFF, IF I KNOW IT HAS STARTED. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I TURN MY ELECTRONIC FIRE PLACE ON. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPEND I HERD A NOISE, I THOUGHT WAS A CAR RUNNING IN MY DRIVE WAY, AS I WALKED INTO THE GARAGE TO OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR I KNEW IMMEDIATELY IT WAS MY VEHICLE AND RAN FOR THE KEYS TO TURN IT OFF, THE GARAGE WAS FULL OF EXHAUST FUMES SO I HELD MY BREATH AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. GOOD THING I NOT HAVE KIDS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION. I HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS IN MY STATE INCLUDING WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAY THEY FIX IT, HOWEVER IT STILL NOT FIXED. IT SEEMS ALL THEY DO IS RESET THE BATTERY, I HAVE TOLD THEM I ALREADY DID THAT SEVERAL TIMES AND IT NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SAME OLE SAME OLE, YADA YADA YADA
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE DOOR HINGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND NOTICED SHE WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE DRIVERS-SIDE MIRRORS. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THE DRIVERS-SIDE WINDSHIELD POST OBSTRUCTED HER VIEW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,500.
THIS IS FOR A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO (< 6 MONTHS OLD) THE JEEP HAD BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE ON A WARM DAY. I WENT TO GO OPEN THE TAILGATE, AND THE TAILGATE ONLY OPENED PART WAY BEFORE STOPPING. I THEN NUDGED THE DOOR OPEN SO IT WOULD GO ALL THE WAY AND THE GLASS ON THE TAILGATE EXPLODED, CUTTING TWO OF THE PEOPLE STANDING BEHIND THE VEHICLE. AT THAT POINT THE TAILGATE OPENED ALL THE WAY AND THE SPOILER AT THE TOP CAME OFF. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SUBMITTED PICTURES TO CHRYSLER. BASED ON PICTURES ALONE, THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THEREFORE DENIED MY CLAIM TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT THE COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND REQUEST THAT THEY SEND SOMEONE OUT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE CAR. THEY NEVER SENT ANYONE ELSE OUT. APPARENTLY THE DISTRICT MANAGER LOOKED AT THE PICTURES AND THE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENED AND MADE THE DECISION TO NOT COVER IT. CHRYSLER CLAIMED THEY COULDN'T OVERTURN THE DISTRICT MANAGER'S DECISION. THEY STRUNG ME ALONG FOR 2 WEEKS OVER THE PHONE TO TELL ME THIS. THERE IS REALLY NO OTHER REASON THAN A DEFECT THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO OCCUR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND IF A VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT AND HE APPROACHED THE VEHICLE AT RAPID SPEEDS, THE ALARM WOULD NOT SOUND IN TIME ENOUGH TO AVOID A CRASH. THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT ALERT HIM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500.
2011, 2012 CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH THE PENTASTAR V6 3.6 LITER ENGINE ARE RATED TO TOW 5000 LBS UNRESTRICTED WITH THE TOW PACKAGE INSTALLED. THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE COOLING SYSTEM IN THAT IT CANNOT COOL THE ENGINE WHEN TOWING ABOUT 3500 LBS UPHILL. THE TOW VEHICLE STARTS UPHILL AT THE HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 65MPH IN THE PASSING LANES WITH ENOUGH POWER TO CONTINUE AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING, LIGHTS, ETC., THE TOW VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AND ABRUPTLY SLOWS TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF ABOUT 27MPH. WITH ALL OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD TRYING TO GET BY AND NOT SLOW DOWN, THIS CREATES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION OF ATTEMPTING TO CROSS 3 LANES OR MORE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WHILE TRACTOR TRAILERS HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND HOPEFULLY SCREECH TO AN ALMOST STOPPED POSITION TO AVOID KILLING THE FAMILIES IN THE TOW VEHICLES. CHRYSLER HAS CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM BUT HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND HAS INSISTED THAT THE VEHICLES ARE WORKING THE WAY THEY WERE DESIGNED BUT ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING WITHIN THE ADVERTISED SPECIFICATIONS. CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO CHANGE THE ADVERTISED SPECS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT MIGHT COST THEM MONEY, EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT RISK. CHRYSLER COULD EASILY PERFORM A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM, SAVING LIVES, BUT THERE WOULD BE A SMALL MONETARY COST TO CHRYSLER. *JS
PURCHASED 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO NEW FROM DEALER MICK'S NORTH HILLS CHRYSLER. HAVE HAD VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR OR REPROGRAMMING OF PASSIVE ENTRY AND PUSHBUTTON START MULTIPLE TIMES. THE PROBLEM BEGAN HAPPENING THE DAY AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED. REPAIR TOOK QUITE A WHILE AND ALSO HAD DOWNTIME WHERE VEHICLE SHUT ITSELF OFF WHEN DRIVING AT LEAST TWICE. THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS AND CALLS TO DEALER. THE PROBLEM BEGAN HAPPENING AGAIN OVER PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WITH "KEY NOT FOUND". ONE WEEK AGO SATURDAY (4/30) THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START USING EITHER KEY NOR WHEN REMOVING PUSH BUTTON AND ATTEMPTING TO START WITH KEY INSERTED. IT WOULD CRANK AND CRANK BUT NOT START. AFTER LEAVING SIT OVERNIGHT IT STARTED THE NEXT DAY. BUT STILL GETTING INTERMITTENT "KEY NOT FOUND". THE DEALER TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN ON 5/2 AND THIS TIME DEALER REPLACED BATTERIES IN BOTH KEY FOBS. TWO DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START IN THE AM OR ANY OTHER REPEATED ATTEMPTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR SERVICE AND REPAIR PENDING AS OF 5/9. *TR
VEHICLE UNLOCKS RANDOMLY AS I WALK AWAY FROM IT, HAVE TO LOCK THEN TRY AGAIN AND AGAIN SOMETIMES. SEVERAL TIMES HAVE COME BACK TO VEHICLE AFTER LOCKING IT ONLY TO FIND IT UNLOCKED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DEALERSHIPS INCLUDING THE ONE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY HAVE NEVER FIXED THE ISSUE AS STATED.
FAILURE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ON NEW 2011 JEEP COMPASS LIMITED. THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED AND AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER JEEP SERVICE CENTER HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIRS TWICE AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM. *TR
THERE WERE ELECTRICAL FAILURES LEADING UP TO THE COMPLETE ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. AFTER BEING TO THE DEALER FOR SERIOUS VIBRATION AND COUNTLESS OTHER ISSUES, INCLUDING REMOTE START NEEDING COMPLETE REPLACEMENT AND TONS OF SOFTWARE UPDATES AND WAS STILL NOT FIXED!!!!!!! ELECTRICAL FAILURES STARTED WITH KEY AND KEY FOB NOT FUNCTIONING, WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO BE INOPERATIVE. THE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON I-75, DOWN THE MOUNTAINS WITH A TRAILER ON THE BACK. ALL HEADLIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN, POWER STEERING DISABLED, BRAKES LOCKED, ENGINE DEAD. HAZARDS WOULDN'T WORK AND THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN WHEN VEHICLE IS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WITH NO LIGHTS AND IT WAS AFTER MIDNIGHT FOR US. WE SEE ANOTHER IDENTICAL COMPLAINT HERE FROM ANOTHER JEEP OWNER. WE HAVE AN ATTORNEY TRYING TO GO THRU THE LEMON LAW, BUT THAT MAY NOT PAN OUT. IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF CONSUMERS COULD/WILL BE AT SERIOUS RISK WITH THIS VEHICLE. ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC STARTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE HOOD WAS REPOSITIONED, ALLOWING THE HOOD TO CLOSE CORRECTLY AND ALLOWING THE AUTOMATIC STARTER TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE COOLANT CONDENSER WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHTS WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS FOR THESE FAILURES. THE CONTACT FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CONSISTENT FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,500.
HI, MY NAME IS [XXX]. ON JAN. 18, 2011 I PURCHASED A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE X PACKAGE FROM GRAND PRIX JEEP AND SUBURU, FOR MY DAUGHTER, FOR HER FIRST CAR. ON MARCH 12, I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT, MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR STARTED TO REV HIGH AND THEN WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE FORWARD, I THOUGHT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BUT IT WAS SO SCARY. I HAD TO RIDE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE WAY HOME. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SO DID THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT, WHICH LOOKS LIKE A LIGHTENING BOLT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, SPOKE WITH ETHAN. I EXPLAINED TO THEM OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM. HE SAID HE WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND LET ME KNOW THE PROBLEM. I CALLED ON MONDAY, NO ONE LOOKED AT THE CAR, STALL. TUESDAY, I CALLED AND SPOKE TO ETHAN, HE SAID HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND HE HAD TO WAIT FOR CHRYSLER TO CALL HIM AND LET HIM KNOW WHAT TO DO, SCARY. THIS TIME I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM I ALMOST DIED IN THE CAR, DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM, SUDDEN ACCELERATION, ENGINE AND THROTTLE LIGHT ON. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,300.

WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP MY ENGINE LOCKED UP. MY MECHANIC SAID MY ENGINE IS NOT GOOD.I HAVE NO COVERAGE ANY MORE.
THE JEEP HAS A FAULTY TIPM WHICH CONTROLS THE WHOLE CAR. IT WOULD NOT START JUST TURNS OVER. I HAD IT TOWED IN FOR REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE TIPM. AND THAT THEY HAD FIXED IT. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE AND THEY KEEP SAYING THEY FIXED IT OR THAT THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE IT WORKS WHEN ITS AT THE SHOP. NOW I HAVE IT IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY ADMIT ITS THE TIPM. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) LOW, SUDDENLY, ACCOMPANIED BY A CLUNK AND CHANGE IN VEHICLE SPEED FROM DOWNSHIFTING. LIGHTS CAME ONE IN THE DASH INDICATING LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL AND 4WD SERVICE NEEDED. THIS EVENT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING UNTIL WE MADE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. SINCE DOWNSHIFTING INTO 4WD LOW OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL ROADWAY OPERATING SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY 20-40 MPH) IT CERTAINLY FELT LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE, COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT TRACTION CONTROL WAS LOST AS A RESULT. ONCE BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND WHILE THE TRANSFER CASE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DUE TO THIS NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLE WE NO LONGER FELT SAFE DRIVING IT, AND ENDED UP TRADING IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST A FEW WEEKS AFTER GETTING IT BACK FROM THE SHOP.

THERE WERE (3) ELECTRICAL FAILURES LEADING UP TO THE COMPLETE ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. ELECTRICAL FAILURES STARTED WITH KEY AND KEY FOB NOT FUNCTIONING, WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO BE INOPERATIVE UNTIL WIN MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. ALL HEADLIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN, POWER STEERING DISABLED, BRAKES LOCKED, ENGINE DEAD. DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN WHITE STEAM LIKE SMOKE COMES FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE SMOKE BECOMES DENSE AND THERE IS A SMELL OF HOT TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO POWER OFF AND UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND A LARGE POOL OF FLUID DISCHARGED UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS TOWED AND RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERS TECHNICIAN REPORTED, "TECHNICIAN PERFORMED VISUAL INSPECTIONS AND CLEAN OFF OF FLUID FOUND THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AT THE RADIATOR HAD DISCONNECTED DUE TO NOT BE IMPROPER CONNECTION ISSUES REINSTALLED BOTH TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AND CLAMPED LINES, TESTED PRESSURE ON BOTH LINES. FILLED SYSTEM AND TEST DROVE AND CLEANED (DUE TO MASSIVE SPRAY FROM LINES COMING LOOSE), PULLED VEHICLE BACK INTO SHOP AND RECHECKED FLUID LEVEL AND CLEANED AREA (REPEATED THIS PROCESS SEVERAL TIMES TO BRING FLUID LEVEL TO PROPER LEVEL) FINISH CLEANING ENGINE AREA AND VERIFIED. PARTS:6 FLUID-ATF +4". MY ISSUE IS THAT I HAD JUST EXITED A HIGH SPEED, 65MPH, HIGHWAY AND IF THIS FAILURE HAD HAPPENED ON SOMETHING LESS THEN A SLOW SECONDARY ROAD WITH NO TRAFFIC, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT ACCIDENT OR POTENTIAL INJURY.
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 0 TO 5 MILES PER HOUR I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE THE AUTO WAS EITHER ON LEVEL SURFACE OR AT THE BEGINNING OF A SMALL INCLINE THE AUTO DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. THEN I RESTARTED THE AUTO AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE AUTO DID MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK MULTIPLES TIME BEFORE STARTING. THREE OR FOUR TIMES, THE CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING; IT FINALLY CAME DOWN TO THE FUEL PUMP NOT SHUTTING DOWN AFTER THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED OFF, AND THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT DOWN THE FUEL PUMP WAS TO PULL THE FUSE OUT OF THE ECM UNIT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WAS CHARGED $1200 DOLLARS FOR A NEW ECM UNIT AT THE DEALER BUT THE NEW UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED THE WIRE HARNESS TO BE REWIRED DUE TO AN INTERNAL PROBLEM INSIDE THE ECM UNIT (THE LEFT FOG LIGHT WOULD BLINK INSTEAD OF THE FRONT BLINKER LIGHT). *TR
