Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V530000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
ON 2011-2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS NO BATTERY ICON ON THE CLUSTER DISPLAYING WHETHER IT'S OVERCHARGED OR LOW CHARGE. WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO JUMP-START THE SUV DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY ON THE DRIVEWAY. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSION ONCE THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE WHILE PARKED UPHILL OR DOWNHILL IT MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND WHILE SHIFTING GEARS.
THE AIR SUSPENSION - SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION LIGHT CAME ON, THE AIR SUSPENSION THEN LOWERED THE VEHICLE TO WELL BELOW NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED AND HAD THE COMPRESSOR REPLACED. 3 WEEKS LATER NOW THERE IS A MODULE AND NIGHT SENSOR SUPPOSEDLY NEEDING TO BE FIXED. NO EXTENDED WARRANTIES COVER THIS AS IT'S AN "AIR SUSPENSION" AND NOT A REGULAR SUSPENSION ACCORDING TO THEIR PAPERWORK. IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR AIR SUSPENSION IN JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE THAT THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE. THE TIRES COULD BE BLOWN DUE TO THE LOWERED STATE OF VEHICLE AND THE FRONT TIRES CAMING OUT.
COLD STARTED THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, WAS IN PARK AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. IT APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER #3 MISFIRE, ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, & HAD LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING, CHECK OIL, LOW BATTERY LIGHT, SERVICE THE 4X4, AND WIPERS ALL CAME ON AT ONCE, REMAINED ON. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE IN SUMMER OF 2019, THEN IT WAS A #3 MISFIRE. THIS TIME, AGAIN, THE CODE WAS A #3 MISFIRE! THE SUMMER OF 2019 I HAD THE GARAGE REPLACE THE FAULTY 3 COIL PACKS ALONG WITH A NEW ALTERNATOR WHICH WAS DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE BAD COIL PACKS, WHICH FIXED THE ISSUE FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 AND 1/2 YEARS. THEN THE ISSUE RESURFACED ON CHRISTMAS 2020, SAME PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT THEN RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. MYRTLE BEACH CHRYSLER JEEP (785 JASON BLVD, MYRTLE BEACH, SC 29577) AND EFIRD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1711 W LUCAS ST, FLORENCE, SC 29501) WERE CONTACTED. BOTH DEALERS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE ROOF ON THE INSIDE OF MY 2011 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO A SUN VISOR RECALL (RECALL R71) THE JOHN HIESTER DEALERSHIP IN SANFORD, NC HAD PREVIOUSLY FIXED TWICE. THEIR SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR SAID THEY WEREN'T GOING TO PAY TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL FIRE DAMAGE BECAUSE IT WASN'T RELATED TO THE RECALL AND WASN'T A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. BASICALLY, THEY IMPLIED THAT I CAUGHT MY OWN VEHICLE ON FIRE & RISKED MY OWN LIFE & THE LIFE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN, WHICH IS CRAZY. SEE DETAILS BELOW: ON OCTOBER 23, 2020, I TOOK MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TO THE JOHN HIESTER CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM DEALERSHIP LOCATED ON HAWKINS AVENUE IN SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA, TO HAVE THE SUN VISOR WIRING RELATED TO SAFETY RECALL R71 REPLACED. PER THE ATTACHED INVOICE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT AND LEFT SUN VISOR AND INSTALLED WIRE GUIDES AND GRIND RELIEFS. AT APPROXIMATELY 6:45 A.M. ON DECEMBER 9, 2020 (NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS LATER), FROM INSIDE OF THE HOUSE, AS USUAL, I USED THE CAR KEY TO AUTOMATICALLY START MY JEEP THAT WAS STATIONARY (SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY) SO THAT IT COULD WARM UP. WHEN MY GRANDCHILDREN AND I WALKED OUTSIDE TO GET INTO THE JEEP, I NOTICED A LOT OF SMOKE ON THE INSIDE, SO MUCH SO, THAT I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. UPON OPENING THE JEEP DOOR, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY FILLED WITH SMOKE. WITH THE DOORS OPENED, THE SMOKE FINALLY CLEARED, AND, IN HORROR, I SAW THAT THE ROOF ON THE INSIDE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY BURNED AND PAINT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ROOF HAD BUBBLED FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE A FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED THE INCIDENT TO THE RECALL THAT WAS REPAIRED ON OCTOBER 23, 2020 BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS NIGHT, I'D TRIED TO TURN ON THE VISOR LIGHT TO READ SOMETHING AND THE LIGHTS WERE EXTREMELY DIM. I MESSAGED THE JOHN HIESTER DEALERSHIP VIA ONLINE AROUND 7:30 A.M. FROM THERE, MY JEEP WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT STILL REMAINS UNREPAIRED.
SUV ENTERED INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET.AND WAS STRUCK ON THE RIGHT FRONT PANEL. I BELIEVE THE CAR SPUN TO THE LEFT AND CLIPPED THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK. SUV CAME TO REST WITH FRONT END AGAINST A TREE. I WAS DOING APPROX 25 MPH. THE TRUCK THAT STRUCK ME APPEARED TO BE GOING A BIT FASTER. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. A FEW THINGS, ONE BEING HOW MY JGC ABRUPTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE IN MOTION(LUCKILY I WAS EXITING THE EXPRESS WAY (BOTH) TIMES) YEAH, HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE, TO THE SUSPENSION NO LONGER FUNCTIONING, ALL THE WAY TO IT DECIDING NOT TO START UP.

ON MORE THAN 1 DOZEN OCCASIONS MY JEEP HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ANYWHERE FM 20 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR. I LOST STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES WHILE THE REST OF GAGES STAYED ON. AFTER THE FIRST FEW TIMES I FIGURED OUT I COULD THROW IN NEUTRAL , HIT THE IGNITION BUTTON AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP. CHRYSLER JEEP TOLD ME THIS WAS A "RELAY " RECALL FOR OVER 1 1/2 YEARS THAT THEY HAD NO REPAIR FOR. SO THEY JUST KEPT REPLACING TRHE PART. I WOULD GET ANYWHERE FM 2 WKS TO FEW MONTHS WITH THE "NEW, BAD PART" THE REALL REPAIR CAME IN LAST WEEK. AFTER REPLACING IT, I MADE IT 2 DAYS BEFORE I STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME ON AN EXIT RAMP DOING 30 MILES AN HOUR AROUND A SHARP TURN .I (AND MY 13 YEAR OLD SON) WENT OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH. I HAD TO USE 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO GET OUT. I CASUED MINOR F=DAMAGE ASWELL. THIS TIME! I KEEP TELLING THEM IT;S ONLY MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I DIE OR KILL SOMEONE WHEN THIS STALL HAPPENS. I HAVE HAD A RENTAL OR BEEN WITH OUT A CAR FOR AT LEAST 5 WEEKS OF THIS LAST YEAR ALONE FOR THIS RECALL FAILURE. I LOOK ONLINE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF WEBSITES AND LINKS TO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES THAT HAVE DONE THIS. HOW MANY PPL HAVE TO WREAK OR DIE TO GET SOMEONES ATTENTION?? I HAVE FILED THIS COMPLAINT A FEW YEARS AGO.

TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THIS FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ROCKWALL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (970 E INTERSTATE 30, ROCKWALL, TX 75087) WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,768.
FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS, MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC, HAD JUST COME A UP A HILL, I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, MY CAR BUCKED, AND THEN MY CAR "STALLED". THANKFULLY, WE KEPT COASTING, BECAUSE, LIKE I SAID, WE WERE IN A LONG LINE OF TRAFFIC GOING 50 MPH ON A MAJOR ROAD. I PULLED OVER, SHUT MY CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE US THE TWO MILES TO GET BACK HOME. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY TWO CHILDREN IN MY GRAND CHEROKEE, THEREFORE MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AND I'VE BEEN DRIVING HIS. SO FAR THIS WEEK, THE GRAND CHEROKEE HAS STALLED SIX TIMES WHILE MY HUSBAND IS DRIVING, USUALLY WHILE HE IS ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE GRAND CHEROKEE; 19V-813, WHICH DESCRIBES A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE THROUGH JEEP. WE HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERS IN THE OUR AREA AND NO ONE WILL OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE THAT RELATES TO THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT JUST THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, BUT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE OR TIPM. I'M HAVING NUMEROUS OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY GRAND CHEROKEE, BUT NONE THAT POSE SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE STALLING. I HAVE BEEN READING OTHER GRAND CHEROKEE OWNER COMPLAINTS, AND MANY SITE THIS IS THE PROBLEM, STATING THAT THEY HAVE HAD THEIR FUEL PUMP RELAY FIXED, BUT THEUR CAR IS STILL STALLING. MY OTHER CAR PROBLEMS ARE AS FOLLOWS, WHICH POINT TO THE TIPM: WHILE KEY FOB IN WITHIN VEHICLE, DASH STATING KEY ISN'T IN CAR OR FOB IS DAMAGED, CAR TURNS ON BUT SHUTS BACK OFF QUICKLY ON ITS OWN, THE A/C ONLY WORKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT BLINKS CONSTANTLY THOUGH PRESSURE IS FINE, THE "SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE" WARNING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, BUT SHUTS OFF WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF.
RELAY FUEL PUMP

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHAMPION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4505 W 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46268, (317) 872-6200) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. MY IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUGS KEEP MISFIRING. MORE THEN NORMAL. EVER SINCE THE RECALL WHERE THE REPLACED HALF OF MY ENGINE I CAN'T SEEM TO KEEP THEM FOR LONG AND IT'S GETTING COSTLY.
IT'S STALLING AND SOMETIMES DON'T START AND CUTS OFF WHEN YOU COMING TO A STOP
DELAMINATION OF THE LEATHER TOP OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS BLOCKING VENTS AND CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES. ADDITIONALLY THE AIR SUSPENSION IS LEAKING AT CONNECTIONS AT TOP OF STRUTS.
II HAVE HAD MULTIPLE DRAINED/DEAD BATTERY ISSUES WITH MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, EVEN AFTER INSTALLING A NEW BATTERY IN FEBRUARY OF 2020,. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED WITH A FAULTY TIPM WHICH IS ADDRESSED VIA FCA RECALL V-62 (NTSHA RECALL 19V-813), FOR WHICH NO REMEDY HAS BEEN FOUND BY THE MANUFACTURER. I AM NOW HAVING TO CALL A TOW SERVICE FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE INSTALLING THE NEW BATTERY. WHEN IS THIS RECALL GOING TO BE FINALIZED SO THAT THE NECESSARY REPAIRS CAN BE MADE UNDER WARRANTY?

OUR JEEP CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE BEING DRIVEN, MAKING IT VERY UNSAFE AS THE POWER STEERING AND POWER ASSISTED BRAKES STOP WORKING WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS IS THE SUBJECT OF SEVERAL RECALLS, MOST RECENTLY V62/NHTSA 19V-813 ISSUED A YEAR AGO. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS FAULT WITH OUR JEEP. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE STALLS SINCE 2015 FAILED RECALL AND THEY CONTINUE TO THIS DATE, ALWAYS WHILE BRAKING AND MOSTLY WHILE ALSO TURNING TO THE RIGHT. *LN*JB

NHTSA RECALL 19V-813. THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED ON 11-14-2019. STILL NO FIX. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR. CHRYSLER KNOWS WHAT IS NEEDED. IT SEEMS CHRYSLER ISN'T TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY. THEY SHOULD HAVE A FIX IN THIS TIME PERIOD.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH STARTING. THE VEHICLE WOULD START SOME DAYS AND ON OTHER DAYS IT WOULD NOT. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND IT WAS NOTED THERE WAS AN ISSUE DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED DUE TO CHRYLSER STATING THE PARTS ARE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY THE FOB WOULDN'T OPEN THE DOOR, THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AND WOULD NOT START AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WILL ONLY START WITH A JUMP AND AFTER IT IS TURNED OFF IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN POSTED FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND CHRYSLER HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE ISSUE AND CONTINUOUSLY PUT A BAND-AID ON THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF FIXING THE REAL ISSUE. THE ISSUE WITH THE FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP RELAY CAN CAUSE OTHER ISSUES FOR THE VEHICLE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMEDYING THOSE ISSUES IN RELATION TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT LEARNED THE VEHICLE WAS NOW INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED A THIRD TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND A CASE WAS OPEN. WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, I NO LONGER HAD CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME AND GOING AT A RELATIVELY SLOW RATE OF SPEED SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT DID START ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR CONTINUALLY STALLS DURING START UP AND HAS NOW STARTED TO STALL AND SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I BROUGHT IT TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME I HAD A FAULTY FUEL PUMP WHICH I THEN DISCOVERED WAS RECALLED BY JEEP. WHEN I TRIED TO BRING THE JEEP TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART, IT HAD NOT BEEN MADE AVAILABLE TO THEM. THIS WAS THE SAME WITH 2 OTHER DEALERSHIPS I CALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A TRADITIONAL TWO LANE COUNTRY ROAD. AS I APPROACHED A LEFT HANDED TURN, I PRESSED THE BREAK PEDAL AND INSTANTANEOUSLY LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS. THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND DROVE OFF THE ROAD INTO A SMALL GRASS FIELD. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND REALIZED THE TACHOMETER SHOWED 0 RPM INDICATING THE ENGINE HAD STALLED. AT FIRST, I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE SHIFTER WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH NO HESITATION ONCE THE SHIFTER WAS MOVED TO PARK. THE P54 RECALL HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN COMPLETED. FCA HAS BEEN INFORMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A JEEP DEALER. THE RECALL FOR V62 IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT AND THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE RECEIVED THE TEMPORARY INTERIM REPAIR. I HAVE DECIDED TO PARK THE VEHICLE UNTIL FCA CAN REASSURE THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE AND WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL V62 WHERE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CAUSES A STALL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MY CAR HAS REGULARLY BEEN STALLING WHILING I'M DRIVING IN TRAFFIC FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH FCA SEVERAL TIMES TELLING THEM OF THE RISK I AM IN ON A DAILY BASIS AND ASKING ABOUT WHEN PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THE RECALL HAS COME OUT WITH NO PROGRESS. THE STALLING HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND HAS PUT ME IN HARMS WAY EVERY TIME I DRIVE; I AM CONSTANTLY MANEUVERING TO AVOID A COLLISION AND THE ONLY REASON AN ACCIDENT HASN'T HAPPENED YET IS BECAUSE OF HOW OVER DEFENSIVE I HAVE TO BE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. FCA EVEN TRIED DOING A TEMPORARY FIX BUT THE CAR STALLED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THIS ATTEMPT. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHERS WHENEVER I'M OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER. I USE THE CAR DAILY AND FOR LONG TRIP AND FEAR IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. CHRYSLER RECOMMENDS BRING THE CAR IN FOR A TEMPORARY FIX WHICH IS WORRISOME.

ENGINE ON 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON WITH 143K MILES BURNING OIL EXPEDITIOUSLY ALMOST TO THE POINT OF SEIZING. LOST 3-4 Q OF OIL IN 1,000 MILES WITH NO CHECK ENGINE OR CHECK OIL LIGHT NOTIFICATION. ENGINE IS NOW BEING REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. COULD CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION OF SIEVED WHILE IN OPERATION.

VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHEN IN MOTION AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET. IT WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR GARAGE, TOTALLY DEAD AND UNMOVEABLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD AND RUINED THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR, THEN BACK FED TO THE BATTERY WHICH BEGAN SMOKING WHEN A JUMP AND CARRY WAS HOOKED UP TO IT.
TWICE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHEN GOING ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR ON A TOWN ROAD AND BREAKING AND TURNING TO THE RIGHT (ONE TIME WAS MORE RIGHT THAN THE OTHER), MY CAR LOSES POWER OUT OF NO WHERE. MY ENGINE SHUTS OFF, I LOSE POWER STEERING, AND I LOSE MY BREAK ASSIST. IT IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE A LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT. I CROSSED OVER INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE OF TRAFFIC WITH LITTLE TO NO CONTROL. FORTUNATELY BOTH TIMES NO ONE WAS NEAR ME AND I WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. I CAN THEN RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE AWAY. I DONT KNOW HOW TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER GRAND CHEROKEES ON THE INTERNET. SEARCHING ONLINE REVEALS HOW COMMON THIS PROBLEM, THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECTS AND THE FACT THAT FCA WILL NOT ADMIT OR ASSIST OWNERS. NO PROPERLY MAINTAINED ENGINE SHOULD FAIL AT 79,000 MILES.
