I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE P14 REGARDING THE BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE IN OR AROUND MAY 2014. I CALLED THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP TO MY HOUSE AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE TOO BUSY, UNDERSTAFFED, HAD GUYS IN TRAINING AND HAD NO TIME TO FIX THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP IS ED TOMKO CHRYSLER IN AVON LAKE, OHIO. THEY ASSURED ME THIS WAS NOT A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I ASKED THEM TO CALL ME BACK WHEN THEY HAD TIME TO DO THE WORK AND THEY REFUSED, SAYING IT WAS UP TO ME TO CALL THEM. I CALLED AGAIN IN JULY AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. ON FEBRUARY 28, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN I WAS DRIVING, WHICH CAUSED A SEVERE BRAKE APPLICATION PROBLEM. BY SOME MIRACLE, I AVOIDED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BY INCHES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY BUT WAS TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS GONE FOR THE DAY. I CALLED ON MONDAY MARCH 2 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WOULD BE ON APRIL 21. I EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDRIVEABLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ONCE AGAIN TOLD ME THAT HE WAS TOO BUSY, UNDERSTAFFED AND HAD GUYS IN TRAINING. THIS WAS ALMOST WORD FOR WORD HIS EXCUSE FROM LAST YEAR. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE NUMBER 800-853-1403 BUT HUNG UP AFTER 51 MINUTES, HEARING OVER 50 TIMES "THANK YOU FOR HOLDING, YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US...." THE LIES OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INCOMPETENCE OF CHRYSLER COULD HAVE COST ME MY LIFE IF THE BRAKE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY. PLEASE TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION. THANK YOU. *TR

VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALER ON 3/24/15 FOR STALLING ISSUES AND OTHER SAFETY RECALLS. CAR HAD NOT STARTED ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS UP UNTIL 3/24/25. I WAS TOLD THE KEY FOB BATTERIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT MAY FIX THE ISSUE. I PAID TO HAVE BOTH BATTERIES REPLACED. ON 5/4/15 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE NOT STARTING ISSUE HAD BECOME MORE EXTREME. IT OCCURRED 8 TIMES SINCE THE 3/24/15 SERVICE AND ON ONE OCCASION IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THERE WAS AN EXTREME DELAY AND SUDDENLY THE CAR REACTED AND LURCHED FORWARD. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD EVER DONE THIS. ADDITIONALLY, ON ONE OCCASION OF NOT STARTING IT CONTINUED TO CHUG INSTEAD OF JUST NOT REACTING. DEALER ADVISED AGAIN THAT ONE OF THE KEY FOBS NEEDED TO HAVE A BATTERY REPLACED (BOTH WERE REPLACED THE PREVIOUS MONTH) AND THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE PARTS FOR THE SAFETY RECALL. HEADQUARTERS ADVISED THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW IN A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE PROBLEMS IS RAPIDLY GETTING WORSE AND THERE ARE INDICATIONS THAT THERE MAY BE ISSUES WHILE I AM DRIVING IT AS WELL. I HAVE ASKED FOR ESCALATION AND SOMETHING EVEN A TEMPORARY FIX BE DONE. FEB 27, 2015 A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM-7) MAY FAIL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING". I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY CAR FIXED SINCE THE RECALL CAME OUT AND CAN NOT GET IT DONE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD OVER AND OVER AND OVER THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PART AND TO CALL BACK. REALLY COMING UP ON 6 YEARS NOW AND JEEP CAN NOT GET THE PART TO FIX MY CAR. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO TO GET IT FIXED?

THE ENGINE WOULD WANT START. REPEATEDLY ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE WITH IT SEEMING TO TURN OVER BUT NOT START. I HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES AND RETRY UNTIL THE ENGINE FINALLY DID START. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS SPORADIC ENGINE START ISSUE. PREVIOUSLY, I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ENGINE START ISSUE AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE DOOR LOCKS HAD STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIPM WAS REPLACED BUT AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY MALFUNCTION AND WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN SWITCHING ON THE TURN SIGNAL THE FOG LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REPLACEMENT TIPM WAS ALSO FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,400.

A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN EARLY 2014. ON JULY 31, 2014, I REQUESTED THE REPAIR, BUT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS BACK-ORDERED. I ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES, MONTHLY, TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR, BUT WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. ON FEBRUARY 13, 2015, OUR GRAND CHEROKEE'S BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED, CAUSING DIFFICULTY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC. HE SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER DUE TO A FAILURE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND ALSO SUBJECT TO THE RECALL, THE PART SHOULD BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED AT NO COST. THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE PART WAS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR SINCE IT HAD FAILED, BUT THE PART WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE TO ME IF IT HAD NOT FAILED. ALMOST SEVEN MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE I REQUESTED THE REPAIR UNDER A SAFETY RECALL. IF IT HAD NOT FAILED, IT IS NOT KNOWN HOW MUCH LONGER IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN TO GET THE REPAIR PERFORMED. I UNDERSTAND I WAS 30-SOMETHING IN LINE FOR THE REPAIR, BUT THERE IS MORE THAN 100 WAITING AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY ARE RECEIVING A VERY LIMITED SUPPLY FOR THE RECALL PARTS. THE JEEP SAFETY BULLETIN, FOUND AT HTTP://WWW.JEEP.COM/WEBSELFSERVICE/PDF/P14.PDF, INDICATES A COMPLAINT SHOULD BE FILED IF THE REPAIR IS NOT COMPLETED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I DO NOT BELIEVE SEVEN MONTHS IS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THIS RECALL, DUE TO THE SAFETY HAZARD ASSOCIATED WITH IT. AFTER OWNING MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR ONLY 1 SINGLE DAY (PURCHASED WITH 35,004 MILES ON 2/11/15), I WAS UNABLE TO START IT AFTER 6-7 PUSH START ATTEMPTS WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL PROPERLY PRESSED DOWN. AFTER PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND PULLING IT TO THE SIDE OF A HILL,I PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK AND ONCE AGAIN TRIED AND IT STARTED UP. BASED ON RESEARCH ONLINE, IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THIS IS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL FOR THE 2011 MODEL AND THE DEFECTIVE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE ALTERNATOR RECALL (P60) FOR 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES IS NOT YET AVAILABLE (YET IT WAS ANNOUNCED BY CHRYSLER IN OCTOBER 2014) AND COULD ALSO BE A FACTOR TO THIS INTERMITTENT START ISSUE. *TR

THE CHARGING SYSTEM INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND WITHIN 30-60 SECONDS, HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VENTS AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL OF ITS ELECTRICAL POWER. THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE LEFT SHOULDER AND LUCKILY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, BUT SAID THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. *JB

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 22.5 MILES I NOTICED A WHINE THAT INCREASED IN VOLUME AND PITCH DEPENDING ON ENGINE RPM. UPON ARRIVING AT HOME AND EXITING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED AN ODD ODOR THAT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. I OPENED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE VICINITY OF THE ALTERNATOR. THERE WERE NO FLAMES PRESENT AND I NOTICED DISCOLORATION ON THE ALTERNATOR. *TR

LAST SATURDAY (01/31/2015), I GOT 48K SERVICE DONE ON THIS JEEP. YESTERDAY (02/02/2015) THE STEERING WHEEL GOT JAMMED WHEN MY WIFE WAS REVERSING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVEWAY. WE FOUND OUT THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS MISSING. I TOOK THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID CONTAINER IS LEAKING. *TR
RECEIVED OIL CHANGE AT DEALERSHIP, THEY ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AND POWER STEERING RACK HAD A LEAK. FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM LISTED ON THIS MODEL YEAR WITH SOME CAUSING AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. ALSO FOUND THAT THE NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING THIS FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. *TR
THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ON 1/28/2015. THE CODES THAT WERE SET SAID THE ENGINE HAD A MISFIRE AND THE LEFT HEAD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED ON THE ENGINE. I LOOKED THIS UP ON THE INTERNET AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6 LITER V-6 PENTASTAR ENGINES. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER SAID THIS PROBLEM ONLY EXISTED IN HALF OF 1% OF THIS TYPE OF ENGINE. IT APPEARS THAT THE INTERNET IS FULL OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND EXACTLY HOW MANY ENGINES HAVE HAD THE LEFT HEAD REPLACED. *TR

REPAIR INVOLVES DISABLING OF FUEL PUMP RELAY IN TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) AND INSTALLING EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY. FAILURE ALSO RESULTED IN FAILURE OF VALVE SPRING.
