THERE IS A CURRENT CHRYSLER RECALL OUT RIGHT NOW (BELOW). P60 - SAFETY RECALL - ALTERNATOR / 2011-2014 (LX) CHRYSLER 300, (LD) DODGE CHARGER, (LC) DODGE CHALLENGER, (WD) DODGE DURANGO AND 2012- 2014 (WK) JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MY ALTERNATOR BURNED UP AND THE WHOLE JEEP WAS DEAD RANDOMLY ONE MORNING EMITTING SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD AND THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. I TURNED IT ON AND HEARD A WHINING NOISE WHICH THEN STOPPED AND THEN SMOKE JUST COMING OUT OF THE ALTERNATOR. I READ THE RECALL AND IT ONLY APPLIES TO THE 160 AMP ALTERNATORS. ACCORDING TO MY VIN, I HAVE THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR AND I FEEL THIS RECALL APPLIES TO THE 180 AMP ALTERNATORS AS WELL BUT IT ISN'T LISTED. I HAD TO GET IT REPLACED AND ENDED UP SPENDING OVER $900 ON SOMETHING I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THIS PARTICULAR RECALL GIVEN THE SPECIFICS OF THIS RECALL AND THE MATCHING SYMPTOMS OF MY BURNT UP ALTERNATOR. THANK FOR ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE.
LOW BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, AND TWO MILES LATER THE MAJORITY OF DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. SIMULTANEOUSLY, A CONSTANT BEEPING BEGAN AND WIPERS TURNED ON. THE SCARY PART IS THAT WITHIN SECONDS, I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THE ROAD I WAS DRIVING WAS PRECARIOUS, WINDY, AND DID NOT HAVE A SHOULDER. I CONTINUED AT MINIMAL SPEED AROUND THE CURVES FOR LESS THAN A MILE, LOOKING FOR A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. VERY SOON, THE CAR ACCELERATOR STOPPED AND THE CAR DIED. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (TOOK EFFORT WITHOUT POWER STEERING). TERRIBLE AND SUDDEN EXPERIENCE. NOT ENOUGH WARNING TO GET THE CAR SERVICED BEFORE COMPLETE ELECTRONIC AND VEHICLE SHUTDOWN OCCURRED. THANKFUL THAT NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AROUND DURING THE INCIDENT, AS I AM CONFIDENT I DID NOT HAVE SAFE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DURING THIS TIME. TOWED VEHICLE TO SAFETY. MECHANIC TESTED AND DISCOVERED THAT ALTERNATOR FULLY SHORTED AND BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD (UNABLE TO RECHARGE).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE RESTRAINT HEADREST SUDDENLY EXPLODED WHILE THE PASSENGER WAS SEATED. FRAGMENTS OF THE HEADREST WERE SCATTERED DURING THE INCIDENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. CHECK LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY COMES ON EVEN AFTER BEING CLEARED AND THE JEEP TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT IT FAULTY SENSOR. THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WHICH IS A $30-40 BUT WOULD COST OVER $550 TO REPAIR IT. THE TECHNICIAN EVEN SAID THIS A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME AND MY FAMILY BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD ALREADY 5 SERIOUS RECALLS PLUS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS VEHICLE ISN'T SAFE AND CONSUMERS ARE FORKING THE BILL TO PAY FOR THESE POORLY BUILT JEEP VEHICLES. I ALSO SEE MORE RECALLS ARE COMING IN THE FUTURE AND HOW IS THE NHTSA PROTECTING US CONSUMERS FROM THESE CAR COMPANIES WHO MAKE AND BUILD POOR VEHICLES. THIS VEHICLE RANDOMLY VIBRATES VIOLENTLY AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY INTO GEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO LITHIA CHRYSLER JEEP OF RENO (3223 MILL ST, RENO, NV 89502) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
MY 2013 GRAND CHEROKEE HAS HAD THE STALLING ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN DEC. 2016. IN 2017 AFTER REPLACING TIPM & FUEL-PUMP AT OUR EXPENSE, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL & NEITHER JEEP NOR THE DEALERSHIP WOULD DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CHANGE THE PART. WE FILED WITH NCDS, & THE ARBITRATOR DID NOT PURSUE THE CASE & CHRYSLER RESPONDED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS 'OPERATING AS INTENDED'. I HAVE ELECTRONIC COPIES OF THOSE DOCUMENTS. SINCE THE OFFICIAL RECALL WAS ISSUED, MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3-4 TIMES & CONTINUES TO SHUT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES DAILY OR EVERY OTHER DAY. IT FAILED & WOULD NOT START DEC. 2019 SO I TOOK IT IN & GOT IT BACK A WEEK LATER. THEY CLAIMED MY BATTERY WAS DEAD & WOULD NOT HOLD CHARGE. HOWEVER, THE DAY BEFORE IT WOULDN'T START, I'D DRIVEN IT BACK FROM DALLAS TO LAFAYETTE, LA W NO STALL. I'D ALSO DRIVEN IT AROUND THE MORNING IT STOPPED WORKING SO I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT, BUT PAID FOR THE REPAIRS & A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, IT FAILED AGAIN. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE SINCE MY VISIT IN DECEMBER. I TOOK IT IN ON JAN. 20TH FOR THE STALLING & GOT IT BACK ON THE 21ST IN THE AFTERNOON. LESS THAN 24 HRS LATER, IT STALLED AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ALL LAST WEEK TO REPORT THE DAILY STALLS & WENT BACK IN THIS PAST MONDAY, THE 27TH, AFTER THEY DID NOT RETURN MY CALLS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. IT STALLED THERE IN THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT, & THEY GOT A TECH TO RUN THE CODES & IT CAME BACK AS THE RECALL PART. THEN THEY RAN SPECIFIC DIAGNOSTICS PER FCA'S REQUEST & SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT. SINCE MONDAY, IT HAS STALLED TWICE SO FAR TODAY, ON WEDNESDAY. THE CAR HAS STALLED WHILE IDLING WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHILE DRIVING IT, AND UPON START IT WILL IMMEDIATELY DIE AFTER CRANKING UP. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT & POSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF & OTHERS WHEN IT STALLS IN-OPERATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
ON THE REAR HUBS, THE THREADS ON THE SHAFT FOR THE AXEL HAVE COMPLETELY RUSTED OFF THE SHAFT. LEAVING JUST THE SHAFT AND NO THREADS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE FROM THE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY FILLED WITH SMOKE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND WAS LEFT AT THE INTERSECTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SMOKE SUBSIDED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY A TOW TRUCK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO BE INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND TOLD THE DEALER NOT TO TOUCH THE VEHICLE UNTIL A JEEP SPECIALIST INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER'S BUT NO ONE CONTACTED HIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. *TR
IN 2014 HAD A BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. ALL PARTS WERE REPLACED RELATED TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN MAY OF 2014. ON THE FIRST BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURE OF THE SEASON IN 2016 MY BRAKES FAILED WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION I WENT 20 FEET PASS THE STOP SIGN UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO STOP. LUCKILY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AT THE INTERSECTION AT THIS TIME. AS I KEPT PUMPING THE BRAKES WHILE SLOWLY CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE BRAKING BEGAN TO WORK. I HAD NO OTHER BRAKING ISSUES THAT DAY. THE VERY NEXT DAY WITH BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES I WAS AGAIN UNABLE TO STOP AT THE FIRST INTERSECTION I APPROACHED AGAIN NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AT THE INTERSECTION. I AGAIN CONTINUOUSLY PUMPED THE BRAKES WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING AND I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND AFTER THE DEALERS CONFIRMATION THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER IT HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED AGAIN. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT THE PARTS USED TO REPLACE THE BOOSTER IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL ARE FAULTY PARTS THEREFORE CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEM THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSE TO FIX. I WOULD LIKE THIS KNOWN AS I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO WILL HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR BRAKES. *TR
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (AIR BAGS) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER PLACED THE CONTACT ON AN EXTENDED HOLD SEVERAL TIMES, SO THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME FOR MONTHS. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
ON ONE OF THE FIRST COLD DAYS OF THE YEAR WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT TRYING TO COME TO A STOP FOR A YELLOW LIGHT OUT OF THE LOT MY PREGNANT WIFE SUDDENLY NOTICED SHE HAD NO BRAKING CAPABILITY IN HER 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE LIGHT THEN COAST IT TO A SLOW ENOUGH SPEED TO THROW ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND PUT IT INTO PARK. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MIDAS WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE WE FOUND SAFETY RECALL P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY RECALLED THIS PART FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER INFORMED US THAT OUR VEHICLE HAD ACCOMPLISHED THIS RECALL AND THE PART WAS REPLACED JUNE 21, 2014. LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS LATER (DEC 15, 2016), THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS ALREADY FAILED AGAIN ON OUR VEHICLE WITH ONLY 52,058 MILES. CLEARLY THE REMEDY FOR THE INITIAL RECALL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, SO NOT ONLY AM I OUT ~700 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE BRAKES WILL GO OUT NEXT. WILL IT BE ON A RAINY DAY WHEN MY WIFE IS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR?
TOTAL FAILURE OF THE ALTERNATOR AT 65K MILES RESULTING IN NO ELECTRICAL RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE.
THE TCS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD ALONG WITH THE WIPER BLADES BEGIN MOVING EVEN THOUGH THE WIPER BLADE CONTROL SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. EVERY BUTTON, HORN, AND THE WIPER BLADE/ TURN SIGNAL CONTROL ARM ON THE STEERING COLUMN WILL NOT WORK. FUSES APPEARS TO NOT BE BLOWN. NOTHING WITH TURN OFF THE FRONT WIPER BLADES. ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL BUTTONS AND THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER WORKS WITH NO MAL FUNCTION. THE HAZARDS WORK FINE AS BUTTON IS BELOW RADIO AND NOT ON STEERING COLUMN. THIS BRINGS SAFETY QUESTION OF NO TURN SIGNALS AT NIGHT AND POSSIBLY AIRBAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IF REST OF THE ELECTRICAL SWITCHES AND BUTTONS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING ON THE STEERING COLUMN ONLY. THIS HAPPENED INITIALLY IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AFTER GETTING OFF A HIGHWAY AND TURNING INTO A PARKING GARAGE. MILLAGE IS BETWEEN 116000 AND 117000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SAFETY HEADREST DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON, FRIGHTENING ME AND DISTRACTING ME FROM DRIVING. I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT DURING OR PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. INCIDENT OCCURRED SATURDAY AFTERNOON , NOVEMBER 5, 2016. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, AND THE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROADWAY AND STRUCK THE GUARDRAIL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE PERSISTENT AND OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE CLOSEST DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE OUT OF THE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE REVVED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
POWER STEERING MAKING NOISE LOUD , HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND DEALERSHIP TELLS ME ALL 2013 DOES THIS. WELL A WEEK LATER AFTER THEY LOOKED AT I LOST POWER STEERING WITH A BABY IN CAR.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR THE LAST 45 DAYS TO HAVE THE DRIVE TRAIN OF MY JEEP REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE TWO RECENT EMAILS TO JEEP ABOUT MY CONCERNS AND THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AS I AM STILL USING IT. JEEP DOES NOT HAVE THE PART, THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE GETTING IT AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONDING TO MY EMAIL COMPLAINTS. I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE ARE 15 OTHER DEALERS ALSO NEEDING THIS PART AND THAT THE SUPPLIER HAS NONE TO PROVIDE. MY COMPLAINT IS LACK OF ANY RESPONSE AS TO THE SAFETY OF THE CAR OR ANY TIME LINE WHEN THE CAR CAN BE FIXED. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. WHILE DRIVING APROX. 40 MPH ON A REGULAR CITY STREET IN MY 2013" JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, MY PASSENGER SEAT HEAD REST EJECTED AND THE SPRING ACTION LUNGED IT FORWARD CAUSING MY ENTIRE SEATS AIR BAG SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION. I WAS INFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS A MALFUNCTION, MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO PAY THOUSANDS TO REPLACE IT. ALSO THAT THE SEAT WILL NEVER GO BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION AND THE INNARDS WILL ALWAYS SHOW UNLESS I PAY TO FIX IT. I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN, NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY HAPPENED. IT JUST WENT OFF ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH BECAUSE OF THE VERY LOUD POP CAUSING ME TO REACT. I WAS TOLD THAT MY DRIVERS SEAT HAS THE SAME SYSTEM AND BASICALLY BE CAUTIONS WHILE DRIVING. I INFORMED JEEP CORP. THEY SENT A PRIVATE CORPORATE INVESTIGATOR. I WAS INFORMED VIA FORMAL LETTER THAT THEY WILL NOT BE FIXING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE 4TH. DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION MY VEHICLE HAS HAD. #TIMES PREVIOUSLY IT WAS A NATION WIDE RECALL THAT WAS TAKEN CARE OF. I FEAR I WILL BE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE DRIVERS SEAT MALFUNCTIONS AND WE WILL CRASH AS A RESULT OF THIS RANDOM MALFUNCTION. IF I CRASH NOT ONLY IS MINE AND MY FAMILIES LIVES IN DANGER BUT ALSO ALL OF THOSE IN THE VEHICLES AROUND ME.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND I HIT THE BRAKE AND THEN SLIGHTLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL AND MY TRUCK ACCELERATED AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL SMASHING INTO TWO OF MY NEIGHBOR'S VEHICLES! IF IT WASN'T FOR MY NEIGHBOR'S TRUCK STOPPING ME, I WOULD HAVE KEPT GOING INTO A LARGE TREE IN FRONT YARD OR HOUSE! EXTREMELY SCARY!!!

THEY ATTEMPTED TO RESET IT WITH NO SUCCESS AND INSTRUCTED ME TO CALL JEEP (800-992-1997). AFTER THEIR ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE HEADREST RATTLES WHILE DRIVING - QUITE DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. JEEP HAS FAILED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE HEADREST AND HAS FAILED TO RETURN MY CALLS FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. THEIR COMMUNICATION DIRECTED ME TO ATTEMPT TO RE-SET THE HEADREST ON MY OWN - WHICH I HAD THE SAME RESULTS AS THE DEALERSHIP, UNSUCCESSFUL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT NO START, EXTENDED CRANK. ONCE STARTED, VEHICLE RUNS FINE. ISSUE BEGAN RIGHT AFTER RECALL R09 PERFORMED AT 43,574 MILES. ISSUE SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED BUT REPEATED AT 47,985 MILES. DEALER STATED THAT WIN MODULE NEEDED REPLACING AT A COST OF $180. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. ISSUE HAS NOW RETURNED AT 69,000 MILES. TAKING VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON 2/13/19.
