THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED AT THE END OF APRIL. WHILE DRIVING, AFTER CROSSING A BUSY STREET, I SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ENGINE RESPONSE. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP, I HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP AND SENDER REPLACED. THIS IS WHEN I WAS MADE AWARE THERE IS A FUEL KIT RELAY RECALL. NOW, BARELY 4 WEEKS LATER, THIS EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. WITH APPARENTLY NO REMEDY TO THE RECALL YET, I AM NOW LEFT PAYING FOR THE SAME EXACT REPAIRS I JUST HAD DONE LESS THAN 150 MILES AGO. THIS TIME IT HAPPENED AFTER CROSSING INTO ANOTHER STATE, ABOUT 45 MINUTES FROM HOME. THE TIME, COST AND HASSLE OF ALL THIS HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF MAJOR TRAFFIC...LUCKILY!

CHRYSLER, SENT US A LETTER LISTING THE RECALL BELOW FOR OUR 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART. THE REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN MADE AND THEY GIVE US NO INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT WE HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD AND MY WIFE DRIVES THE JEEP EVERY DAY, HER ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. THE RECALL STATES "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM-7) MAY FAIL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING." ALSO, VERY CONCERNING TO US: "CONSEQUENCE: A VEHICLE STALL INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH." HERE IS THE RECALL INFO: CHRYSLER (FCA US LLC) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012-2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED SEPTEMBER 17, 2010, TO AUGUST 19, 2013, AND EQUIPPED WITH A 3.6, 5.7 OR 6.4 LITER ENGINE, AND 2012-2013 DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES MANUFACTURED JANUARY 18, 2011, TO AUGUST 19, 2013, AND EQUIPPED WITH A 3.6 OR 5.7 LITER ENGINE. IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM-7) MAY FAIL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING.

I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY JEEP: THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) CONTAINS AN INTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT COULD OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY OR FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. AN INTERMITTENT OR FAILED FUEL PUMP RELAY COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. THREE MONTHS LATER, JEEP SAYS THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE, THEREFORE, MY CAR IS STILL DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. RECALL STATUS: INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. FURTHERMORE, JEEP WANTS TO HACK INTO MY WIRING TO REPLACE A RELAY. THAT RELAY IS ORIGINALLY PART OF THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. THEY ARE TRYING TO TAKE A "CHEAP" RATHER THAN "PROPER" APPROACH TO REPAIRING MY VEHICLE. I WANT THE MODULE REPLACED IN WHOLE, AS THIS IS WHERE THE RELAY IN QUESTION WAS ENGINEERED TO RESIDE. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER TO VERIFY THE AVAILABILITY OF THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD ORDER IT AND HAVE IT ON THEIR SHELF IN 2 WORKING DAYS! I WANT JEEP TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY DEFECT IMMEDIATELY, AND PROPERLY, AS THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED TO OPERATE.
I TOOK MY JEEP INTO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP APRIL/16/2015 FOR RECALL 05P14182 OR RECALL P14 IE..A BRAKE BOOSTER SHIELD. ON MAY 15 AFTER APPROX. 3000 MILES MY ABS, FCW AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD NOT USE MY CRUISE RETURNING TO ABQ. AND MY BRAKES WERE STICKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON 22MAY AND THEY FOUND THAT THE MASTER WAS LEAKING FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MADE MENTION OF THE P14 RECALL. THEY REPERFORMED THE RECALL AND REPLACED THE MASTER AND BOOSTER AND AFTER TESTING THEY FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THEY ORDERED ANOTHER MASTER CYL. AND AFTER INSTALLING SAID THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. ON RETURNING TO ABQ ON 15JULY/15 AND LESS THAN 3000 MILES LATER I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME MALFUNCTION. BACK TO THE DEALER ON JULY 17 WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS. LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON DEC. 23/2015 THE SAME MALFUNCTION AND RETURN TO THE DEALER ON 31DEC. AT THIS POINT THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND THE MECHANIC SAID THEY COULD REDO THE FIX BUT IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT WAS A HEALTH HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID SINCE IT WAS REPAIRED THEY COULD NOT DO A VEHICLE REPLACEMENT AND TO CONTACT THEM WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I TOLD THEM WHAT THE MECHANIC AND ADVISOR SAID ABOUT BREAK FAILURE AND IT WAS "WE CAN NOT HELP YOU." I THEN WROTE TO THEIR NCDS AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY I HAD NO CASE. WHEN THIS STARTED THE VEHICLE HAD 41759 MILES AND THE LAST REPAIR IT HAD 48288. THE JEEP 2013 HAS A 50,000 FIVE YEAR WARRANTY. I HAVE ALL THE REPAIR INVOICES AND THE EMAILS FROM CHRYSLER IN MY FILES. PLEASE HELP
A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH A DEFECTIVE OIL FILTER HOUSING. THIS SUBSTANDARD DESIGN DEFECT CRACKS AND CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ON THE ENGINE MANIFOLD AND PUDDLE. THIS COULD CAUSE OIL SENDING UNIT TO FAIL AND LOOSE ENGINE OIL. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6 L SIX CYLINDER ENGINE.

DRIVING TO WORK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STARTED TO SOUND EXTREMELY LOUD AND ACCELERATION WAS SLUGGISH. TRAFFIC OPENED UP AND FROM 20 MPH INCREASING TO 51 MPH NOTICED (AND HEARD) THE RPM WAS AT 6. CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE RPM NEARED 7 (THE RED ZONE) AS I CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. PUT ON THE HAZARDS, PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. SAT FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND RESTARTED. EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL AND MADE IT TO WORK WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AFTER DRIVING TO WORK 29 MILES WHILE WAITING FOR DAY SHIFT TO GET OUT SO I CAN GET A PARKING SPOT WHILE IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING FOR AROUND 15 MINUTES I THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT PRESSED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ENGINE REVS UP TO A VERY HIGH RPMS AND MY JEEP MOVES FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ALL MY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE AND I AM A MALE AT 210 POUNDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT IS GOING BACK TO THE DEALER MONDAY 2/23/2015 AGAIN FOR THIS PROBLEM AND TO REPLACE A SHOCK. THE LAST TIME THEY SAID ALL THEY COULD FIND WAS THAT THE TRANY FLUID WAS LOW NOT SURE WHAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH MY PROBLEM. ANYWAY I REALLY LOVE MY JEEP HOWEVER THIS IS A VERY DANGERS PROBLEM. I WORK AT CHRYSLER SECOND SHIFT AND WHEN DAY SHIFT LETS OUT THERE ARE OVER 100 WORKERS LEAVING AND IF MY FOOT WAS NOT PRESSED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE I COULD HAVE HIT ONE OF THEM. I HAVE THE 5.7 HEMMI ENGINE AND PERSONALLY I THINK IT IS A COMPUTER ISSUE HOWEVER I AM NOT A MECHANIC SO LIKE I SAY THAT'S JUST MY PERSONAL THINKING. VEHICLE IS A TWO YEAR OLD DEALER MAINTAINED VEHICLE. NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND GARAGE KEPT AND MAINTAINED. WAS NOTIFIED OF AN ISSUE AT MY DEALER APROX 1 YR AGO THAT ALL OF MY LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND WERE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE VEHICLE. WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE GRAND CHEROKEES AND OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT UTILIZE THESE SAME LUG NUTS. VEHICLE BROKE DOWN ON SIDE OF ROAD WITH A FLAT TIRE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AS TOW DRIVER WAS THAN UNABLE TO REMOVE THE LUGS. SINCE THEN THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AND NOW AM UNABLE TO REMOVE 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT HAVING TO SHEER OFF THE NUTS. FILED FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. WAS BLOWN OFF AND TOLD THAT THE DAMAGE IS MY FAULT AS AT SOME POINT AN IMPROPER TOOL WAS USED TO TAKE THE TIRES OFF DAMAGING LUGS. KEEP IN MIND THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED NO WHERE OTHER THAN A JEEP DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE DESPITE THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE AND WAS THAN HIT UP FOR $260 FOR LUG NUTS!!!!
