I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL WEEKS AGO ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES ON MY CAR. DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAVE AN 11 PAGE WAITING LIST FOR PARTS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL CENTER TOLD ME THEY ARE RELEASING 1 PART EVERY 14 DAYS TO THEIR DEALERS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS RECALL WILL NOT GET DONE FOR MANY MORE MONTHS AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING MY VEHICLE. *TR

IN GENERAL, THE CAR WOULD NOT START WHEN BRAKE WAS PRESSED AND THE START BUTTON WAS PUSHED. THIS HAPPENED SIX TIMES. FIRST FOUR TIMES THE ENGINE WOULD JUST TURN OVER BUT NOT START. LAST TWO TIMES, THE ENGINE STARTED FOR ABOUT TWO TO THREE SECONDS THEN DIED. ATTEMPTING TO START IT AGAIN RESULTED IN THE ENGINE TURNING OVER BUT NOT STARTING. DURING ALL OF THE SIX ATTEMPTS THE ENGINE ONLY STARTED AND STAYED RUNNING AFTER THREE OR FOUR ATTEMPTS. WHEN I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THERE MAY BE A BAD WIN MODULE, WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE TIPM I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE TO BEGIN DIAGNOSIS STARTING WITH OTHER PARTS. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN MAY. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP IN EARLY JUNE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT RECEIVING PARTS TO FIX THIS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND I HAD TO GO ON A 12 PAGE WAITING LIST. I CALLED TODAY TO FIND OUT THE STATUS (2 MONTHS LATER) AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ME ON THE LIST AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD PUT ME AT THE BOTTOM AGAIN. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE - WHEN A RECALL IS MADE, THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THESE VEHICLES AND THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE A BETTER WAY OF KEEPING TRACK OF THINGS THAN A HANDWRITTEN LIST. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT ISN'T A PROBLEM SINCE IT'S NOT YET FREEZING OUT, BUT IF I HAVE TO WAIT MONTHS AGAIN AS I ALREADY HAVE - IT WILL BE WINTER AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE RAIL ROOF DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. A KAYAK WAS ATTACHED TO THE RAIL ROOF AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIND PRESSURE CAUSED THE RAIL ROOF TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,450. ..UPDATED 09-24-14 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE KAYAK MOUNTED (THULE RACK) ON THE VEHICLE FLEW OFF AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. RECEIVED NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION EARLY JUNE TO HAVE INSPECTED TO SEE IF NEW BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM WAS NEEDED OR JUST SHIELD. DEALER INFORMED ONLY SHIELD WAS NEEDED. DROPPED VEHICLE OFF WITH AN APPOINTMENT BEFORE A ROAD TRIP ON AUGUST 12, 2014. I WAS INFORMED AFTER (AROUND 8/16/14) I RETURNED FROM ROAD TRIP THAT BRAKE BOOSTER AND CYLINDER WERE ACTUALLY NEEDED AND MORE TIME WAS NEEDED FOR REPAIR. DEALER WOULD NOT GIVE ME RENTAL AS NONE WERE AVAILABLE. FINALLY GOT RENTAL MIDDLE OF FOLLOWING WEEK AFTER TAKING OFF WORK AGAIN. PARTS DELIVERY ETA EXPEDITED TO 9/1/14. RECEIVED CALL 8/28/14 INDICATING VEHICLE REPAIR DONE. I WAS REQUIRED TO RETURN RENTAL BEFORE I COULD VERIFY WORK ON VEHICLE. RETURNED RENTAL, TOOK DELIVERY OF VEHICLE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT TWO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE DEALER'S PARKING LOT. SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THIS IS NORMAL WITH THE RECALL REPLACEMENT PARTS. I DISAGREE SO ADVISOR HAS TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT AND AGREE WITH ME THAT IT ISN'T NORMAL. I AM INFORMED ABS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE BLED A FEW MORE TIMES. HAD TO GO HOME AGAIN AND RETURN LATER TO PICK UP VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS OK. COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR PARTS, HAD TO TAKE OFF MANY DAYS OF WORK, AND DEALER HAD NO EMPATHY FOR SITUATION. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO HAVING TO FIGHT FOR A RENTAL. NOW, A FEW DAYS AFTER HAVING RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK, VEHICLE HAS LOUD TICK ON STARTUP AND WHILE DRIVING LOUDER THAN RADIO, BUT I COULD NOT REPLICATE AT DEALER. SERVICE ADVISOR DIDN'T SEEM TO BELIEVE ME ABOUT TICK AND I WAS TOLD HEMI ENGINES TYPICALLY TICK. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST VEHICLE OR MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH A HEMI ENGINE. IT ISN'T NORMAL. NO INTEREST IN SERVICING VEHICLE AND INFORMED ME TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT WAS MAKING THE TICK SOUND. I'VE TRIED TWICE AND I CAN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN AT DEALER. *TR

THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO HAVE TROUBLE STARTING THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE WIN MODULE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
I HAVE HAD A BRAKE RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE FOR MONTHS! WHEN I CHECK WITH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER PARTS TO REPAIR THE BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED! I HAVE NOW RECEIVED A SECOND RECALL FOR A POSSIBLE SHORT IN THE HEADLINER THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE, AGAIN NO PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I RECEIVED A BRAKE BOOSTER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE - P14 NHTSA 14V-154. I CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AUGUST 4TH TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR ([XXX], TRAVERSE CITY, MI). THE DEALER SERVICE REP INFORMED ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS, ONLY GET MAYBE THREE PARTS A WEEK, AND SAID I COULD BE ON A WAITING LIST WHICH NOW HAS OVER 30 PEOPLE. I SAID AT THAT RATE IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE THE SAFETY RECALL IS COMPLETED. HE SAID HE HAD NO INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN THE REPAIR MIGHT HAPPEN AND AGREED THAT THEY (CHRYSLER) WERE NOT BEING VERY RESPONSIVE. THE DEALERSHIP ATTENDANT TODAY 9/9/2014, [XXX], (MALE) STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL BACK SOME TIME THE END OF SEPTEMBER TO HOPEFULLY GET AN APPOINTMENT IN OCTOBER. THIS IS NOT A AN ACCEPTABLE TIME FRAME WHEN IT COMES TO BREAK FAILURE. WE HAVE A NEWBORN BABY THAT MUST TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE. SPEAKING TODAY DIRECTLY WITH THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL CENTER 800-853-1403 THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ETA ON WHEN THE DEALERSHIPS WILL HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX THE BREAKS. OVER 2 MONTHS AND STILL NO PARTS FROM THE CHRYSLER GROUP?? TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BY ANY STANDARD. THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TIMELINE IN WHICH THIS RECALL P14/NHTSA 14V-154 (BRAKE BOOSTER) IS TAKING TO GET FIXED BY THE CHRYSLER GROUP. I HAVE BEEN ON THE WAITING LIST AT MY LOCAL DEALER IN RAPID CITY SINCE MID JUNE AND THEY INFORM ME THAT THEY ARE ONLY GETTING 3-4 PARTS PER MONTH TO FIX THIS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY CHRYSLER IS REACTING SO SLOW AT GETTING THE PARTS OUT TO THE DEALERS TO FIX THIS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE WINTER MONTHS COMING UP AND IF WATER GETS INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND FREEZES IT MAY CAUSE THE BRAKES TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO COMPLAIN AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO FEEL CONCERNED AND JUST GAVE ME A CANNED STANDARD STATEMENT THAT IT IS A CONTROLLED RECALL. NOW IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE A 2ND RECALL P36/NHTSA 14V-391 (SUN VISOR VANITY LAMP WIRING) WHICH I AM ON ANOTHER WAITING LIST TO GET FIXED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE AND TOOK MY CAR FOR REPAIRS. THEY DID THE INSPECTION ON THE JEEP AND FOUND THAT I NEED A NEW PART. I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING 3 MONTHS TO GET THIS PART AND MY DEALER TELLS ME THEY CAN GET THE PART FROM THE FACTORY AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL. TODAY I RECEIVED A NEW RECALL NOTICE P36 /NHTSA 14V-391 FOR A WIRING ISSUE ON THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS. AGAIN WITH KNOW IDEAL WHEN THIS WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE FIRST COULD CAUSE MY BREAKS TO FAIL THE SECOND COULD CAUSE MY CAR TO BURN DOWN. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS REPAIRED WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? PURCHASED THIS CAR, A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, IN SEPT 2012 BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. IT CAME EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES (P265/60/R18). I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THIS CAR AROUND TOWN AND HAVE NEVER DONE ANY OFF ROAD DRIVING. AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES, I NOTICED THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS NEARLY BALD. THE OTHER TIRES WERE WORN AS WELL BUT NOT AS BAD AS THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. AFTER TESTING, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE ALIGNMENT WAS PERFECT AND THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRES WAS PERFECT. THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE LEFT FRONT TIRE IS NEARLY BALD. THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MICHELIN TIRES. I CONTACTED MICHELIN AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO AN OFFICIAL MICHELIN TIRE DISTRIBUTOR AND HAVE THE TIRES INSPECTED. THE INSPECTOR TOLD ME THE TIRES ARE WORN ALL AROUND BUT HE HAD NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE LEFT FRONT TIRE IS NEARLY BALD. HE SAID THE MICHELIN TIRES HAVE A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF SILICON AND THEY ARE SUBJECT TO ROAD HEAT. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT EVEN IF HE FILLED OUT THE SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF PAPERWORK THAT MICHELIN REQUIRES, IT WAS NOT LIKELY I WOULD GET MUCH IF ANY MONEY FROM MICHELIN. I THEN CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT "SOME" OF THE MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES (P265/60/R18) HAD BEEN RECALLED. I AM REGISTERING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I BELIEVE ALL OF THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND THE NHTSA NEEDS TO DO A COMPREHENSIVE INVESTIGATION BEFORE PEOPLE GET IN ACCIDENTS. *TR
