I SEE DOUBLE LIGHT SOURCES OUT MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. THIS OCCURS BOTH IN THE DAYTIME AND INTENSIFIES AT NIGHT. THIS EFFECT IS CALLED GHOSTING AND ORIGINALLY I THOUGHT MY EYESIGHT WAS GOING BAD SO I WENT TO AN EYE SPECIALIST WHERE THEY SAID MY VISION IS NEAR PERFECT. THIS DOUBLE LIGHT EFFECT GOES AWAY IN OTHER VEHICLES SUCH AS THE WRANGLER, MOST LIKELY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WINDSHIELD THICKNESS AND ANGLE. THIS DOUBLE LIGHT IS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AT NIGHT AND DANGEROUS, ALSO THIS CREATES HEADACHES AND DRIVER FATIGUE DUE TO TRYING TO ALWAYS FOCUS ON OBJECTS. JEEP CUSTOMER CARE SAID THAT MY WINDSHIELD IS OUT OF ITS 1 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD, HOWEVER I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR AWHILE NOW, EVEN MOST LIKELY WITHIN THE 1 YEAR PERIOD. TO TEST IF A WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WOULD FIX THE GHOSTING ISSUE, I SAT IN A BRAND NEW 2016 GRAND CHEROKEE ON A DEALER LOT AND IT HAS THE EXACT SAME GHOSTING ISSUE. THE GHOSTING PROBLEM IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, OR AT LEAST DRIVEN TO HAVE SOME MITIGATION TO PROTECT THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS/PASSENGERS. TECHNOLOGIES EXIST THAT CAN ELIMINATE THE GHOSTING EFFECTS AND ALSO CHANGING THE GLASS THICKNESS/MATERIAL CAN ELIMINATE THIS ISSUE. JEEP CUSTOMER CARE HAS NOT EXPRESSED INTEREST IN HAVING CHRYSLER ASSESS THE PROBLEM OR EVEN LOOK INTO IT. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE SAID ENGINEERS DO NOT MAKE SERVICE VISITS TO DEALERSHIPS TO INVESTIGATE ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE THE ENGINE WAS ON. THERE WAS NO OCCUPANT IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE TRAVELED ACROSS THE STREET AND CRASHED INTO A MAILBOX, THEN PROCEEDED TO ROLL UP AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY WHILE STILL IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE VEHICLE BUT THE VEHICLE THEN MOVED FORWARD AND KNOCKED THE CONTACT TO THE GROUND, DRIVING OVER HER LEGS. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LEG INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BODY DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. UPDATED 04/08/16*LJ

LESS THAN 32,000 MILES ON 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE, GETTING OFF FREEWAY ON SHARP TURN EXIT, THERE WAS A THUNK AND OUR BODIES LURCHED FORWARD AS VEHICLE DROPPED INTO 1ST GEAR. PULLED OVER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON BUT NOT BLINKING SO IGNORED AS DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NOT CRITICAL IF NOT BLINKING. WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE, BUT TRANSMISSION SLIPPED UNTIL REACHED 20 MPH AND RAN OK UNTIL WE WERE HOME ABOUT 1/2 MILE AWAY. WE THEN TESTED THE SHIFTING AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL IN ANY GEAR. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE REP CALLED THE NEXT MORNING INDICATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A NEW ONE TO REPLACE IT. AWAITING NEW TRANSMISSION.
ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER KEY FOB WAS REMOVED FROM VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR OR AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUT OFF. ENGINE WAS VERY HOT.
DASHBOARD ON THE CAR KEEPS TURNING ON AND OFF BY ITSELF DRAINING BATTERY POWER. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY LOOKED AT IT REPLACE THE BATTERY FOR $900 DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM ISSUE WAS NEVER RESOLVED.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION AND SEVERAL OTHER RECALL NOTICE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. *SMD IT WAS DETERMINED, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD THE DEALER INSTALLED A TRANSMISSION THAT WAS NOT MADE FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS BELIEVED THAT IT WOULD WORK. THE REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. *JB

THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAS TWO STRESS CRACKS THAT JUST APPEARED. THERE IS NOT A IMPACT MARKS OR ANYTHING WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE GLASS TO CRACK. THEY ARE TWO STRESS CRACKS DUE TO CHEAP GLASS OR DESIGN PROBLEMS. LOCATED MANY OTHERS ONLINE WHICH HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND JEEP WILL NOT WARRANTY IT.
GEAR SHIFT DOES NOT EASILY GO INTO PARK CAR WAS RUNNING I PUT IT IN PARK RAN INTO THE HOUSE A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS GOING IN REVERSE CROSSED THE ROAD AND WENT DOWN A 200 YARD SLOPE INTO THE DITCH I HAVE HAD THIS GEAR PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE JEEP
WE ARE LEASING A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE COMPONEN:T GEAR SHIFT- VEHICLE ROLLED BACK AFTER THINKING IT WAS IN PARK BUT DRIVER WAS ABLE TO JUMP BACK IN AND STOP IT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT ON ONE OCCASION, VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD IN A PARKING GARAGE INTO A CEMENT PILLAR AFTER EXITING THE CAR THINKING IT WAS IN THE PARK POSITION CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE REAR AND DRIVER SIDE. THE HORN AND REAR WIPER BEGAN TO GO OFF AUTOMATICALLY ALONG WITH THE CONSOLE SCREENS FLASHING RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE TURNING OFF AT A STOP LIGHT. AFTER GETTING IT STARTED BACK UP, WHILE ON THE FREEWAY (70 MPH), THE HORN BEGAN HONKING ON ITS OWN AGAIN AND I WAS AFRAID THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF ON THE FREEWAY RESULTING IN A POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS SITUATION SO I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CAREFULLY PROCEEDED TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE AFTER A FEW DAYS THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH A FAULTY TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). IT WAS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD APPROXIMATELY 38K MILES, INSTEAD OF 36K OF BELOW. HOW CAN AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAIL DUE TO "NORMAL WEAR & TEAR"? I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY INSTEAD OF BECOMING AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE FOR ME. I'M NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING MY VEHICLE EVEN AFTER THE TIPM WAS REPLACED; IT DOESN'T FEEL THE SAME.
CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET WITHOUT WARNING. DEARLERSHIP SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND WAIT FOR THE CAR TO SHUT OFF ON A REGULAR BASIS. THEN MAYBE THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PIN POINT THE ISSUE. THIS IS THE SECOND ISSUE WITH THE CAR ON 7/31/2015 CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET WITHOUT WARNING. TURNS OUT THE FUEL PUMP WENT BAD.
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH ONLY 132 MILES ON IT. AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR UNLESS IT IS AT A DEAD STOP. I CAN'T EVEN GET UP MY DRIVE WAY WITHOUT COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT SLIPS THEN GRABS FIRST GEAR WITH A JUMP FORWARD. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN AUTOMATIC THAT SHIFTS LIKE THIS. I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT'S THE WAY THIS TRANSMISSION WORKS YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERYDAY.
THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATES AND SLAMS ON THE BRAKES WITHOUT CAUSE WHILE TRAVELING FORWARD WHICH IS STARTLING AND DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN NEARLY REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER DRIVER FOR BRAKING WITHOUT CAUSE. WHEN PARKING THE GEAR SELECTOR FEELS LIKE IT IS IN PARK IT IS ACTUALLY IN REVERSE OR NEUTRAL. BRAKES SQUEAK AND WERE WEARING GROVES INTO ROTORS WHEN VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW. ALSO THE FRONT BUMPER HAS NEVER FIT CORRECTLY AS WELL AS THE FENDER MOLDINGS PEELING OFF. VERY SAD FOR A $55,000 VEHICLE.

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HESITATED, STALLED, AND SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE TAILPIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAITILIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (140 OLD YORK RD, JENKINTOWN, PA 19046), BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,453.

OUR 2014 JEEP WAS RUNNING AND STATIONARY IN OUR GARAGE WITH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF BESIDE THE JEEP WHEN IT SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, CRASHING OUT OF OUR GARAGE KNOCKING MY HUSBAND DOWN AND OUT, DRAGGING HIM OUTSIDE. IT HIT NUMEROUS LAWN MOWERS, WHEEL BARROWS AND FINALLY A LARGE TREE BEFORE STOPPING.
I TURNED MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 24,400 MILES INTO MY FAMILY DRIVEWAY AND STOPPED BEFORE THE DRIVEWAY GATE. I LEFT 24 BETWEEN THE JEEP AND THE GATE SO THAT PEDESTRIANS COULD PASS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS OPENING THE GATE. I PUT THE JEEP IN PARK AND WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND WHILE STILL SEATED BUT WITH MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, I REACHED OVER TO THE PASSENGERS SEAT TO GRAB MY BAG FOR THE KEY. AFTER FINDING THE KEY, I EXITED THE RUNNING VEHICLE KEEPING THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN. I WALKED AROUND THE OPEN DOOR, STOPPED IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND UNLOCKED THE GATE. I THEN OPENED THE LEFT HALF OF THE GATE PUSHING IT ENTIRELY BACK TO THE WALL. I THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK BACK TO THE CENTER OF THE GATE TO OPEN THE RIGHT HALF OF THE GATE. I PULLED THE GATE ROD FROM THE HOLE IN THE GROUND SO I CAN MOVE THIS SECTION OF THE GATE, AND JUST AS I DID, THE JEEP BEGAN TO MOVE TOWARD ME HITTING THE FAR RIGHT GATE POST WITH THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS SHOCKED AND RAN BACK AROUND THE OPEN DRIVERS DOOR AND INTO THE CAR TO BACK IT AWAY FROM THE POST. WHEN I ENTERED THE VEHICLE, I FOUND IT IN PARK, AND I SELECTED REVERSE TO BACK IT OFF THE GATE POST. FROM THE TIME I EXITED THE VEHICLE, IT WAS ABOUT 45 SECONDS BEFORE IT MOVED. IF I MISTAKENLY LEFT IT IN DRIVE, IT SHOULD HAVE BEGUN MOVING AS SOON AS I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REACHED ACROSS TO THE PASSENGERS SEAT FOR MY BAG. EVEN IF I MAINTAINED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT THAT TIME, IT SHOULD HAVE MOVED WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN 45 SECONDS TO MOVE. IF IT WAS PUSHED MISTAKENLY INTO NEUTRAL, THE CAR SHOULD HAVE MOVED WHEN I EXITED. FROM A TWO FOOT DISTANCE, IT SUSTAINED OVER $2500 IN DAMAGE. THE DAMAGE WAS NOT CAUSED BY A SIMPLE ROLL IN NEUTRAL. THE CAR ACCELERATED AS IF IT WERE IN DRIVE, ALTHOUGH THE DASHBOARD INDICATED PARK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
LAST NIGHT, I WAS DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED DOWN THE ROAD AND PERSON AHEAD OF ME BRAKED GRADUALLY TO MAKE A TURN. I BEGAN TO SOFTLY BRAKE. I HAD A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF SPACE BETWEEN ME AND THE CAR AHEAD OF ME - AT LEAST 5-6 CAR LENGTHS. THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME TO NEARLY REAR-END ME. THE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT HAVE ACTIVATED AS THERE WAS NO REASONABLE THREAT OF COLLISION. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I UNDERSTAND THE NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THIS SYSTEM SO I DECIDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE INVESTIGATION. THE SYSTEM WORKS WELL WHEN IT NEEDS TO BUT IT HAS FALSE POSITIVES OFTEN. IT IS SOMEWHAT TERRIFYING WHEN YOUR CAR JUST DECIDES TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES WITH NO CAUSE AND THERE IS A LEGITIMATE CAUSE FOR CONCERN WHEN IT DOES. OTHER DRIVERS BEHIND ME MAY BE UNPREPARED TO STOP AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WHERE MY INSTRUMENT DISPLAY CLUSTER LIGHTS UP WITH NUMEROUS VEHICLE WARNING INDICATORS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER, 2013. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE RENTING A VEHICLE FOR MY USE UNTIL IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY "REPAIRED." THE ISSUE HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THAT RECALL FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES. THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED -- ABS WARNING LIGHT, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNINGS LIGHTS WERE ALL DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERABLE, THE BRAKE ENGAGED LIGHT WAS ON (EVEN THOUGH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED) AND THE BACKUP WARNING SYSTEM DID NOT OPERATE. I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE AIRBAG WARNING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. I AM TOLD THAT IF THE WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON THE SYSTEM "ERASES" THE FAULT CODES. THE SYSTEM SEEMS TO RESET ITSELF BUT I STILL DON'T THINK THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING. THIS WEEK I WAS TOLD THAT THE BATTERY CHARGE WAS LOW AND THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS ISSUE IS REPAIRED WHY DOES THE PROBLEM CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I AM HOPEFUL AFTER THIS TIME IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN BUT AM NOT SO SURE. I PAID $40K FOR THIS VEHICLE AND EXPECT THE SYSTEMS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2015, I ARRIVED AT A GAS STATION WITH ONE ADDITIONAL PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN WE FULLY STOPPED IN THE PARKING SPACE, THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PLACED IN PARK. THE SCREEN DISPLAY WAS STILL DISPLAYING THE CURRENT SATELLITE STATION. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF, THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING, BUT I TOOK THE KEY FOB WITH ME. I THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK AROUND AND BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE GAS STATION WAS HAVING CONSTRUCTION WORK, AND IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WERE CONES AND THE AREA WAS BLOCKED OFF. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, WHILE BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF WERE INSIDE OF THE GAS STATION, A WITNESS CAME RUNNING TO THE GAS STATION WINDOW TO ALERT THE ATTENDANT, THAT A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS JUST TAKEN OFF ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. AT THIS POINT, I DROPPED WHAT WAS IN MY HANDS, AND RAN TO LOOK. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, 2014, HAD CRASHED ITSELF. ONE WOULD NOT THINK THIS IS EVEN A POSSIBILITY. PLEASE NOTE, THE KEYFOB WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK PRIOR TO EXITING, AND THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. IF SOMEONE HAD TRIED TO STOP THE CAR, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO. IT PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL, ON ITS OWN, BACKWARDS OVER 200 FEET AND CRASHED INTO A SPLIT RAIL FENCE, AND THEN LUCKILY IT CRASHED INTO THE ONLY TREE, BETWEEN THE SPACE IN WHICH IT WAS PROPERLY PARKED, AND AN INTERSECTION FOR A 55 MPH ROAD. THE POLICE WERE THEN CALLED TO THE SCENE, IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT, AND TO PROVIDE A POLICE REPORT FOR THE DAMAGE. NOW I AM LEFT WITH A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT COULD SERIOUSLY INURE A PERSON, ON ITS OWN, WITH ITS DOORS LOCKED, AND NO KEY FOB IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS ALSO DAMAGED, PARTS ARE BROKEN, AND IT ALSO HAS CAUSED PROPERTY DAMAGE.

THE 2ND TIME WAS 9/5/15, AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE ON A SMALL INCLINE THE VEHICLE ROLLED 2' FORWARD INTO A GUARD RAIL POST CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY FRONT BUMPER AND GRILL. I BROUGHT MY JEEP TO THE SMITH HAVEN CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER TODAY 9/23/15 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME "THIS IS NORMAL ESPECIALLY ON AN INCLINE" AND "IT SHOULD NOT ROLL MORE THAN 3 FEET". I COULD NOT BELIEVE I WAS BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS A NORMAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO ABOUT IT. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE.

WHEN IDLING IN TRAFFIC WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, THE RPM'S ON THE TRANSMISSION ACCELERATES FOR UNKNOWN REASONS UNTIL THE ENGINE IS DISENGAGED AND PLACED INTO PARK OR NETURAL. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR - DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO FIX PROBLEM.
WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, WE SAW A BIG RIG COMING FAST BEHIND US, CLEARLY UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME, WE WERE ON I-80 IN THE CALIFORNIA SIERRAS.. WE TRIED TO REVERSE AND GET OUT OF OUR LANE, BUT THE SHIFT LEVER KEPT DEFAULTING TO NEUTRAL. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY CLOSE NEAR MISS, AND WE WERE VERY CLOSE TO EXITING OUR JEEP, AS THE BIG RIG WAS USING ITS HORN. FORTUNATELY, IT PULLED TO OUR RIGHT AND STOPPED NEXT TO US. BUT BECAUSE THE CAR REFUSED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE (IT KEPT POPPING INTO NEUTRAL, WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY NASTY ACCIDENT. WE DON'T FEEL THE "FIX" JEEP IS PROPOSING IN ITS LATEST RECALL WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE TOLD OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THIS AND AT THE TIME, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL OR KNOWN ISSUE. WE NOW KNOW THERE IS A RECALL. IT'S THE 7TH OR 8TH FOR OUR VEHICLE. WE HAVE LITTLE FAITH THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED. ADDING AN ALARM WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THAT THE SHIFT DEFAULTS TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. WE ARE THINKING OF TRADING THE CAR, BUT WE LIKE THE CAR AND REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO THAT. I MOVED MY JEEP ON THE DRIVEWAY, AND BELIEVE I PLACED IT IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE ON WHILE GOING BACK IN THE HOUSE. WHEN I RETURNED OUTSIDE LESS THEN ONE MINUTE LATER, THE JEEP WAS ROLLING DOWN THE HILL BACKWARDS. IT WENT STRAIGHT DOWN THE DRIVEWAY BACKWARDS, ACROSS THE STREET, AND INTO THE REAR OF A CAR PARKED ACROSS THE STREET. I BELIEVE IT TOTALED THE OTHER VEHICLE AND DID APPROXIMATELY $1300 DAMAGE TO THE JEEP. I DID NOT FILE A POLICE REPORT, BUT THERE WAS AN INSURANCE CLAIM AGAINST MY INSURANCE FOR THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE OTHER VEHICLE. I DID NOT SUBMIT A CLAIM FOR MY OWN INSURANCE AS THERE WAS A $1,000 DEDUCTIBLE. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE IN THE PAPER THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHERE IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL IF THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THE FRONT END SHAKES PRETTY BADLY. I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WHEN I EXCELLERATE MODERATELY THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO TAKE OFF LEAVING ME FEELING OUT OF CONTROL AND HAVING TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND WATCHING THE RPM HIT 6000. I NOTICE MY PROBLEMS AT 1900 MILES BUT I LOST BECAUSE THEY SAID I USED IT FOR COMMERCIAL USE WHICH I DON'T BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE IT REGISTERED AS A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE I JUST DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK AT THE TIME. AFTER ENTERING THE FREEWAY, THE CAR AUTONOMOUSLY SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS INCIDENT HAS REPEATED ITSELF DOZENS OF TIMES IN VARIOUS DRIVING SITUATIONS SINCE JUNE OF LAST YEAR (2014), JUST AFTER BEGINNING MY LEASE. SOMETIMES, AS IN THIS INSTANCE, I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE START BUTTON AND THE ENGINE TURNED BACK ON, EVEN WHILE ROLLING IN NEUTRAL AT SPEED. IN MOST INSTANCES, THE CONDITION HAPPENS AS SLOWER SPEEDS (<30MPH) AND I AM UNABLE TO RESTART UNTIL COAST OFF THE ROADWAY, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, DEPRESS THE BRAKE, SHIFT FROM NEUTRAL INTO PARK, AND THEN RESTART. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC I AM HELPLESS AS I ATTEMPT TO COAST TO SAFETY AS SPEEDING CARS RACE AROUND ME ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP(S) AT LEAST A HALF-DOZEN TIMES. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE TEST-DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND CLAIM THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE MALFUNCTION. WELL, NEITHER AM I. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND I AM UNABLE TO DELIBERATELY CAUSE IT. NONETHELESS, IT HAPPENS. A CHIEF CONCERN OF MINE IS THE SEEMING LIMITATION OF THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS. AT 7100 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE AND REFILL OF DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID INDICATOR ON DASH DISPLAYED INCORRECT DEF FLUID AND SERVICE DEF NEEDED OR VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART IN 200 MILES. IT TOOK A WEEK AND 1 BUSINESS DAY BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP COULD EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLE DUE TO BACKUP IN SCHEDULING. AFTER THREE DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSIS WITH DPF CONVERTOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT, DEF SENSOR FAILURE, DEF INJECTOR FAILURE, AND O2 SENSOR FAILURE. AND THE PARTS WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS JUST TO GET IN. TO ME THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 10000 MILES SHOULD NOT NEED THIS MANY REPAIRS WITH LONG DELAY JUST TO GET PARTS. IT SEEMS THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY ENGINEERED AND CANNOT MEET EMISSION STANDARDS LONG TERM. PLUS A VEHICLE THAT WILL TURN OFF AND NOT RESTART AT 200 MILES IS A DANGER TO A CONSUMER. JUST BASED ON AN INTERNET SEARCH I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE PROBLEMS THERE ARE NUMEROUS OWNERS OF 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ECO DIESEL WITH THE SAME ISSUES. AND THE PROBLEMS ARE NEVER REALLY RESOLVED , PERMANENTLY FIXED AND OCCUR AGAIN. IN MY OPINION FCA SHOULD BE MADE TO BUY BACK THESE VEHICLE AND REDESIGNED TO AT LEAST MEET 80000 MILES EMISSION STANDARD WITH REALISTIC DURABILITY. THE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE TEST SUBJECTS ON A UNRELIABLE VEHICLE UNTIL FCA COMES UP WITH FIXES TO VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS. IN ADDITION SOME CONSUMERS ON INTERNET SITE HAVE BE TOLD TO IGNORE ENGINE PROBLEM INDICATOR LIGHT WARNING UNTIL FCA COMES UP WITH FIXES.

THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER WHO RESPONDED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE HOME ON A 20 MILE TRIP, IN RUSH HOUR, WITH CARS AROUND THEM. UNLESS I LET THEM TAKE MY VEHICLE ON A LONG HIGHWAY TRIP, IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS, THIS WILL NOT BE RE-PRODUCED. I SAID NO FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. THIS IS NOW DOCUMENTED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER.

WHILE DRIVING AT 80 MPH, A VERY LARGE BUCK RAN IN FRONT OF THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE. AFTER DRIVING BACK BY TO SEE THE DEER THE NEXT DAY IT WAS PROBABLY AROUND 300 LBS. THE ENTIRE FRONT PORTION OF MY VEHICLE WAS CAVED IN. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHATSOEVER. LAST EVENING, WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE ON THE STREET IN FRONT OF A HOTEL, THE STEERING LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED AT ALL. THE CAR WAS AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE CURB, ABOUT 2 FEET FROM THE CURB, THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS. ALTHOUGH MOVING AT VERY SLOW SPEED, I HAD TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY AND AFTER ASSESING THE SITUATION, PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHERE IT IMMEDIATLEY FREED UP THE STEERING AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK IT. THIS MORNING THE STEERING SEEMED FINE AND I DROVE IT HOME. CALLING THE DEALER FIRST THING TOMORROW (TODAY IS SUNDAY).

MEN IN THE PARKING LOT WERE YELLING AT ME ASKING WHY I WOULD GET OUT OF CAR WITH IT IN REVERSE. OBVIOUSLY, NOT WHAT I DID. PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME WORSE. IT NOW CAN TAKE 3 TRIES TO GET THE CAR ALL THE WAY INTO PARK. MY VEHICLE IS STILL DAMAGED. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS MUCH WORSE. I MANAGED TO PUT TAIL LIGHTS ETC BACK IN TEMPORARILY. THE CORNER PANEL IS POPPED OUT ON DRIVERS SIDE WITH SCRATCHES ON REAR OF CAR. I CALLED THE TROY POLICE AND THEY SAID BECAUSE IT WAS A PARKING LOT, THEY DIDN'T NEED TO COME AND WRITE A REPORT.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V393000 (STRUCTURE) AND 15V509000 (VISIBILITY); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MERGING VEHICLE INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WHEN ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CONSOLE WENT BLANK, LOSING POWER. INSTRUMENT PANEL THEN LIT BACK UP AND ALL WARNING SIGNALS (CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY ETC.) WERE ILLUMINATED. ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING, BUT VERY SLOWLY (AS IF STUCK IN 1ST GEAR). WHEN ABLE TO SAFELY EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND PULL OFF ROADWAY, WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT CAR OUT OF DRIVE INTO PARK. IT APPEARED ALL THE ELECTRONIC CONTROLS WERE NOT WORKING. BECAUSE THIS CAR HAS A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION (AND A FOB, RATHER THAN A KEY), THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF, BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. I HAD TO REMAIN AT THE WHEEL WITH THE BRAKE ON TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM MOVING. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AT CONTACTING JEEP TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO TRY TO IDENTIFY HOW TO CUT POWER TO THE ENGINE. ULTIMATELY, AFTER HOLDING IN THE IGNITION BUTTON FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME, THE POWER RETURNED AND I WAS ABLE TO PUT CAR IN PARK. PLEASE NOTE, RECALL NOTICE 13V-483 HAD BEEN REPAIRED ON THIS VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS EVENT.
