RECEIVED A SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE WHILE GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE ON DASH BOARD DISPLAY RECENTLY 3 TIMES. I READ ONLINE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL- WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MILES, IT FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN AS IF THE GEARS CHANGED AND IT REQUIRES MORE PRESSURE TO BE APPLIED TO THE GAS ACCELERATOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO GO THE SAME SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 35 AND OVER.
1. RECALL UPDATED PERFORMED MAY 2019- AFTER UPDATE DIESEL REGENERATION OCCURS EVERY FEW DAYS- THIS PROCESS ONLY HAPPENED 2 TIMES BEFORE THE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED. 2. ERROR MESSAGES/LIMP MODE JULY 4, 2019- I RECEIVED TWO ERROR MESSAGES, 1. DIESEL FILTER 100% FULL SEE DEALER AND 2. AUTOMATIC EMISSIONS MODULE SEE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. MY VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE- STARTING AT ONLY BEING ABLE TO GO 35 AND PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE I SAFELY PULLED IN TO A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY. MY JEEP WAS TOWED TO SANTA MARIA JEEP WHICH IS THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP AND 30 MINUTES AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AFTER OVER $2,000 OF WORK WAS DONE. 3. ERROR MESSAGE JULY 22ND- 100% DIESEL FILTER FULL WHICH DRIVING MY NORMAL 120 MILE ROUND TRIP COMMUTE TO WORK. MY VEHICLE WHEN INTO LIMP MODE, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND SHUT MY VEHICLE OFF. UPON RESTARTING MY VEHICLE THE MESSAGE HAD CLEARED. I PROCEEDED WITH CAUTION AND CONTINUED HOME. THE ERROR MESSAGE NEVER RETURNED. 4. ERROR MESSAGE/LIMP MODE JULY 26, 2019- 2 ERROR MESSAGES,1 DIESEL FILTER 100% FULL SEE DEALER AND 2. AUTOMATIC EMISSIONS MODULE SEE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. MY VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE- STARTING AT ONLY BEING ABLE TO GO 35 AND PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE I SAFELY PULLED IN TO A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY. MY JEEP WAS TOWED TO SANTA MARIA JEEP WHICH IS THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP AND 30 MINUTES AWAY. THIS TIME UPON TALKING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR WHICH WAS APPRECIATED BUT THE RENTAL CAR UNFORTUNATELY IS ONLY OK. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED ONLY 2 AND A HALF WEEKS OF THE LAST MAJOR ISSUE AND I WAS ASSURED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. 5.ERROR MESSAGES AND LIMP MODE JULY 26, 2019- I RECEIVED TWO ERROR MESSAGES, 1. DIESEL FILTER 100% FULL SEE DEALER AND 2. AUTOMATIC EMISSIONS MODULE SEE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. MY VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. WAITING TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP UPON OPENING AUGUST 5, 2019
HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION AT NIGHT IS TERRIBLE. IF ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO ADDITIONAL LIGHTING YOUR VISIBILITY IS DANGEROUSLY LOW EVEN WHEN USING THE HIGH BEAMS AND FOG LIGHTS. IF INCLEMENT WEATHER LIKE RAINING, MAKE VISIBILITY EVEN WORSE. A RECALL AND UPGRADE TO THE HEADLIGHTS SHOULD BE ISSUED.
ACTIVE HEAD REST ON THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS DEPLOYED. PLASTIC RETAINERS APPEAR BROKEN INSIDE THE HEADREST. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD A COLLISION.
DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY ONE MORNING ON WAY TO WORK AND HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD "POP". LOOKED BACK AND THE LEATHER HEADREST HAD COMPLETELY UNLOADED LIKE AN AIRBAG AND DEPLOYED. LUCKILY IT DID NOT STRIKE MY HEAD AND CAUSE ME TO SWERVE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS THE MECHANISM IN PLACE SNAPPED. NO ACCIDENT TO CAUSE THIS OR ANYTHING. CLEARLY THE PART IS DEFECTIVE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE SUN ROOF WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUNLAND PARK CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (LOCATED AT 950 CROCKETT ST, EL PASO, TX 79922, (915) 228-2005), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
AT 70000 MILES, MY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM BEGAN TO HISS AND NOT OPERATE FULLY. I AM TOLD IT HAS A LEAK IN THE SYSTEM BUT AS I LOOK ONLINE, THIS IS A COMMON JEEP PROBLEM FOR 2015 MODELS. THEY ARE RECOMMENDING A SYSTEM REPLACEMENT ON A 4 YR OLD VEHICLE (AT THE TIME OF FIRST OCCURRENCE). NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NO OFF ROAD USE. IT'S NOT ISOLATED. *TR
PASSENGER FRONT HEADREST DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. CAR WAS PARKED AND THE HEADREST POPPED OPEN AND COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
TWICE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE VECHILE SHUTS DOWN ON ME ONCE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD AND I CAN'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, I CAN'T PUT FLASHERS ON, NOTHING WILL WORK. IT TOOK 2 HOURS AND MAGICALLY EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WE WENT TO THE DEALER THEY HAD IT FOR A WEEK SAID THE SHIFTER MODULE NEEDED TO REPLACED AND THE BATTERY , $2000 LATER WE TAKE IT HOME AND SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. NOW IT'S A DIFFERENT MODULE THAT NEEDS TO REPLACED. TAKE IT HOME AND IT HAPPENS A THIRD TIME. THEY BASICALLY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE TBE PROBLEM. WE TAKE IT HOME AND EVERYTHING WORKS FOR 3 MONTHS UNTIL TODAY WHEN THE WHOLE PROBLEM REPORTS ITSELF WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT'S BEEN 5 HOURS AND I STILL CAN'T GET THE CAR TO EVEN TURN A LIGHT ON. IT'S COMPLETELY UNSAFE THE WAY IT JUST TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING I AM TERRIFIED TO KEEP DRIVING IT. AND I'M TIRED OF PAYING MONEY FOR A PROBLEM NO ONE CAN SOLVE. THIS SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS TO OTHERS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. I CAN'T BELIEVE NOTHING CAN BE FIXED. IT'S COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE.
MY FAMILY (1 YEAR OLD, 4 YEAR OLD, DOG, WIFE, AND I) WERE DRIVING FROM NC TO NY. WE STOPPED OUTSIDE OF ERIE SO I COULD GET SOME FOOD AND MY WIFE COULD WALK THE DOG. FOR A FEW MINUTES SHE TOLD BY THE CAR WITH THE DOOR OPEN WALKING THE DOG WHILE I GOT FOOD. WE GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND SHE SAID SOMETHING SMELLED FUNNY. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW NOTHING SO WE HEADED BACK ON I-90. AS SOON AS WE GOT ON THE HIGHWAY WE SAW SMOKE AND PULLED OFF IMMEDIATELY. WE GOT THE KIDS AND DOG OUT AWAY FROM THE JEEP AND I WENT BACK TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I NOTICED NOW THE BACK SEAT WAS SMOKING AND REALIZED IT WAS THE PILLOW THAT MY WIFE HAD PUT BY HER FEET. IN THE LITTLE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THE PILLOW WAS DOWN THERE WITH THE DOOR OPEN IT CAUGHT THE PILLOW ON FIRE WHICH THEN CAUGHT THE DOGS BED ON FIRE. I REPLACED THE LIGHT AND CHECKED IT AND NOTICED WITHIN SECONDS IT GET BURNING HOT AND THERE IS NO COVER OR PROTECTION FROM THIS BULB AT ALL.
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I WAS STOPPED WITH MY FOOT IN THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING INTO HIGH RPMS THE CAR STATED SURGING AND THE BRAKES WOULDN'T STOP THE CAR. I REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S MOTHER-IN-LAW WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE HEADREST SPRANG FORWARD AND STRUCK THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S HEAD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,218.
APPROXIMATELY 1:00 PM ON 6/9/2019 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 5 IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THE PASSENGER HEADREST EXPLODED OPEN HITTING MY DAUGHTER IN THE HEAD AND NECK WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE 31 WEEKS PREGNANT
I WAS DRIVING COMING TO A STOP LIGHT GOING ABOUT 20MPH AND I HEARD A LOUD BANG LIKE A GUNSHOT AND GOT HIT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY MY HEADREST. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HURT BUT IT DID SCARE THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME. THANKFULLY IF I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED I COULD OF SWERVED AND GOTTEN INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
I HAVE THE 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL THAT RECEIVED THE EMISSIONS UPDATE REQUIRED BY THE EPA DIESEL SETTLEMENT WHICH CHRYSLER FCA. I NOTICED SUBSTANTIAL LAG PROBLEMS THE INSTANT I PULLED OUT ONTO THE OPEN ROAD AFTER THE UPDATE FROM BONNEVILLE JEEP IN MANCHESTER NH. THE VEHICLE IS DEAD OFF THE LINE AND THERE IS A 2-3 SECOND TURBO LAG AT ALL SPEEDS. YOU END UP GIVING MORE THROTTLE THAN YOU WANT BECAUSE THE RESPONSE IS SO DELAYED, AND THEN YOU GET A MASSIVE SURGE OF FULL THROTTLE WHICH CAN BE UNSETTLING AND MAKE THE VEHICLE UNSTABLE IN A TURN. VERY SCARY TO RIDE WHEN MY WIFE OR KIDS ARE DRIVING WHO AREN'T USED TO THE ISSUE. PULLING OUT INTO BUSY INTERSECTIONS, EVEN WITH A WARMED UP ENGINE IS A DANGEROUS, WHITE KNUCKLE EXPERIENCE AS THE VEHICLE CRAWLS LIKE A TORTOISE INTO THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS BEFORE THE POWER FINALLY COMES AFTER 2-3 SECONDS.. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS SYMPATHETIC BUT SAYS CORPORATE HAS TURNED ITS BACK ON THEIR REPORTS OF COMPLAINTS. I BELIEVE THE SO-CALLED SETTLEMENT DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE VOIDED BY A NEW CLASS ACTION SUIT - THE TERMS OF THE SETTLEMENT AND THEIR AD MATERIALS AND EVEN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE VOICE RESPONSE RECORDING SAY THAT THERE WILL BE NO LOSS OF POWER, NO IMPACT ON DRIVABILITY OR SMOOTHNESS, AND NO CHANGE IN MILEAGE. ALL OF THESE ARE UNTRUE. THEY HAVE DESTROYED THE DRIVABILITY AND JOY OF OWNING THESE VEHICLES. MORE THAN THAT - THEY HAVE MADE THESE VEHICLES EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WE'VE BEEN SCAMMED. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY BACK THESE VEHICLES. I MAY BE TRADING MINE IN.. MY 3RD AND FINAL JEEP.
I PURCHASED A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE-VIN#[XXX], FROM FELDMAN CHEVROLET OF NEW HUDSON ON 05-25-2019. WHEN I REGISTERED THE VEHICLE ON JEEP.COM, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT TWO CRITICAL SAFETY RECALLS WERE AWAITING ATTENTION FROM 2017. THE BRIGHTON JEEP DEALER NOT ONLY CONFIRMED THIS BUT QUESTIONED HOW FELDMAN CHEVROLET SOLD THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ADDRESSING THOSE SAFETY RECALLS AND THAT IT WAS ILLEGAL TO DO SO. AS OF 06-20-2019 BOTH ISSUES HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED WITH BRIGHTON JEEP/CHRYSLER. I PERHAPS FEAR NOT REALLY FOR MYSELF, BUT OTHERS WHO PURCHASED WHAT THEY BELIEVED TO BE A SAFE VEHICLE FROM FELDMAN CHEVROLET AND THEIR LIFE(S) MAY BE IN DANGER FROM NOT PERFORMING A THROUGH SAFETY INSPECTION. VEHICLE DROVE FINE BUT WHEN TURNED OFF, THE DASH LIGHTS STAYED ILLUMINATED. WOULDNT TURN OFF EVEN AFTER A FEW HOURS. NEXT MORNING IT WOULDNT START AND GAVE A FULL HOST OF "SERVICE SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY" PROMPTS. SOUNDED LIKE IT WOULD BEGIN TO TURN OVER, BUT WOULD SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY. STARTED AGAIN AFTER 8 HOURS BUT STILL HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. CODE CAME OUT TO BE "LOST CONTACT WITH ECU"
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARS
DRIVERS SIDE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. IT APPEARS A PARTICULAR PLASTIC CLIP WITHIN THE HEADREST BROKE ON ITS OWN CAUSING THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY. THIS CREATED QUITE A SAFETY RISK AS IT WAS A HUGE DISTRACTION. NO ACCIDENT WAS INVOLVED, FORTUNATELY.
'TAMARA RECALL' WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE TOUCH SCREEN DO NOT WORK. THE TOUCH PAD WON'T ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING, THE RADIO , THE SEATS SETTINGS ARE ANYTHING. SO THE ONLY THING IT ALLOWS YOU TO DO IS LISTEN TO THE RADIO ON ONE CHANNEL. I'M PAYING FOR SIRI AND THE TOUCH PAD WON'T ALLOW ME TO SWITCH TO IT EITHER.
WHILE IN PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. NOTHING HIT MY VEHICLE, I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING AND NO OTHER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED NOR THE DRIVER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOES NOT SHOW ANY INDICATION OF DEPLOYMENT AND NOTHING IN MY VEHICLES INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAY SHOW ANY KIND OF EVENT. THE VEHICLE IS AT APPROXIMATELY 79,855 MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS NEVER BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHERE ANY OF THE AIRBAGS OR HEADREST HAVE DEPLOYED BEFORE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE MALFUNCTION I NOTICED THAT A COUPLE OF SMALL PLASTIC PIECES HAD BROKEN AWAY AND WERE RESTING IN THE BACK COVER OF THE HEADREST. I FEEL MAYBE THIS IS THE DEFECTIVE PART OF PLASTIC THAT BROKE AND MADE THE HEADREST DEPLOY.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN SUDDENLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED AND THE HEADREST SHOT FORWARD TOWARDS THE BACK OF MY HEAD. LUCKILY, I WAS SEATED FORWARD, LOOKING IN MY MIRRORS TO CHANGE LANES SO IT DID NOT HIT MY HEAD. TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THE PLASTIC CLIPS INSIDE THE HEADREST SEEMED TO HAVE BROKEN AND CAUSED THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY.
THE VEHICLE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM BLACKS OUT. SYSTEM BLACKS ON AND OFF AND WHEN RESET- NAVI UDEFINED BLINKS ON AND OFF AND SYSTEM STATES IT'S IN COMPROMISED FOR CYBER SECURITY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 2X AND WILL BE DROPPING THE CAR OFF TOMORROW AND LEAVING UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THE RADIO ALSO TRIES TO SET ITSELF TO VARIOUS STATIONS. I HAVE UCONNECT ACCESS AND I HAVE NOT PAID FOR THE SERVICE. I LOCATED YELP IN THE VEHICLE YESTERDAY- THE VEHICLE WILL BE DROPPED OFF AND I AM DEMANDING A RESOLUTION AND I DO PLAN ON TAKING FURTHER STEPS WITH UCONNECT AND JEEP/CRYHSLER. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO DETERMINE IT WAS THE UCONNECT AS I THOUGHT IT WAS MY PHONE. I DID NOT THINK IT WAS THE FACT THAT I CONNECTED THE UCONNECT TO THE PHONE. I ALSO TOOK MY VEHICLE TO 2 JEEP DEALERSHIPS TO CHECK ON RECALLS
WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING, BUT PARKED IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT. A FRIEND PLACED HIS BACKPACK INTO THE CAR AS HE WAS GETTING INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE HEADREST CAME OFF AND WAS HANGING BY A NYLON STRAP AND A BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC WAS DROPPED INTO THE PASSENGER FLOORBOARD AREA. INICALLY, I THOUGT HE HAD DONE IT, BUT REALIZED HE DIDN'T HIT THE HEADREST WITH THAT MUCH FORCE TO DISLODGE OR BREAK THE HEADREST. HE GOT IN AND WE DROVE HOME, THINKING WE WOULD LOOK AT IT THERE. MEANWHILE, I HAD HIM TEXT MY SERVICE ADVISOR (COLLEEN) AT GREENWAY DCJ DEALERSHIP IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. SHE ADVISED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE HEADREST REPLACE AS IT COULD NOT BE REATTACHED DUE TO THE BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS INFORMATION I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM BUT IT IS NOT YET A RECALL ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED MORE CLOSELY AND THE REPAIRS COVERED. I AM LUCKY THAT IT WAS NOT MY HEADREST, AND THAT IT DIDN'T OCCUR WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. I AM HOPEFUL THAT HQ WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX MY BROKEN HEADREST AS WELL AS INSPECT AND REPLACE OR REPAIR MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST SINCE I'M NOW PARANOID THAT IT WILL HAPPEN TO THAT ONE NEXT AND WHILE EITHER MYSELF, MY HUSBAND, OR SOMEONE ELSE IS DRIVING THE JEEP.
WHILE DECELERATING, 8HP70 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCES SEVERELY DELAYED DOWNSHIFTS WITH HARD JERKING FROM 3RD TO 2ND AND FROM 2ND TO 1ST GEARS. DOWNSHIFT FROM 2ND TO 1ST IS MOST SEVERE, OFTEN CAUSING VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD AFTER HAVING ALREADY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS ISSUE ESSENTIALLY OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. IT HAS BEEN TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR SERVICE, BUT THEY CANNOT FIX/IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM.
MSG APPEARING SERVICE SHIFTER, TOOK INTO SHOP AND STATED IT COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL WIRING BUT WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL THEY BREAK DOWN THE SHIFTER. JEEP HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL BUT I'VE ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF THAT RECALL ON THIS JEEP. THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT ON MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DEPLOYED WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE UNOCCUPIED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER - THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND HEADREST AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND A FAILED LOCKING MECHANISM IS WHAT CAUSED IT TO DEPLOY. THE DEALER AGREED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER ON MY BEHALF FOR A RESOLUTION. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT CHRYSLER AGREED TO PAY FOR HALF THE COST OF THE REPAIR - APPROXIMATELY $350. I AGREED TO PAY THE $350 ONLY IF THEY REPLACED BOTH HEADRESTS WHICH THEY DECLINED. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE HEADREST - HOPING THE SECOND HEADREST DOES NOT FAIL ALSO.

THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,060. *AS *AS
DRIVING DOWN AN OPEN ROAD, SUDDENLY THE "BRAKE NOW" WARNING STARTS BEEPING AND BRAKES ARE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO VEHICLES, ETC IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. HAPPENED EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED ON IT FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM.
- The Diesel Engine failed or malfunctioned. New/current engine is available for inspection but no longer have dead engine. Was removed by Jeep dealership. - I Was driving with my kids and as I was about to park in the lot, thick black smoke started coming from the hood of my jeep. My kids started screaming and I immediately turned off the vehicle and got my kids out, because I wasn't sure if it was going to blow up or what would happen. Called USAA to tow vehicle to dealership. - Problem was confirmed by the dealer - I have never got my vehicle serviced by anyone else besides the dealer/manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Temecula) - the vehicle and component was inspected by the manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat) - There was absolutely NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS OR SIGNES THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN prior to the failure. VEHICLE JUMPS FROM D (DRIVE) TO I WITHOUT WARNING AND HAS TO BE PLACED BACK TO DRIVE. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS, MOSTLY CITY, BUT HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT TO MY JEEP DEALER.THEY FOUND CODE P0302 AND SAID THE LEFT ENGINE HEAD HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS #2 FUEL INJECTOR.I HAD JUST OVER 50000 MI. THE HEAD WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY,THE FUEL INJECTOR COST ME 415$. JEEP SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS COST. JEEP REIMBURSEMENT DEPARTMENT DENIED ME REIMBURSEMENT.WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RECOVER MY COST?
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED AND FROM SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE SHOWED THE SERVICE KEYLESS SYSTEM AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN APPEARED.
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON OR ABOUT THURSDAY, APRIL 10TH 2019 AT 12:10AM. IT INVOLVES THE BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE ENTIRE INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON A HIGH-QUALITY FRONT-FACING DASHBOARD CAMERA WITH AUDIO, VIDEO, AND GPS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT IS AS FOLLOWS: WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE 10 WEST FREEWAY IN REDLANDS, CA, I MANEUVERED TO THE MOST RIGHT LANE ON THE HIGHWAY IN PREPARATION TO APPROACH AN EXIT LESS THAN 1 MILE AWAY (UNIVERSITY AVE.) DUE TO LANE CLOSURES (LEFT LANES) AT THE TIME I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, TRAFFIC WAS BUMPER-TO-BUMPER AND VERY LOW SPEED. WHILE IN THE MOST RIGHT LANE AND STILL AT VERY LOW SPEED, I ENGAGED THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE. WITHIN AROUND 5 SECONDS OF ENGAGING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MINE HAD STOPPED. AT THAT POINT, THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE SELF-DISENGAGED AS NORMAL. ONLY A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE POSSIBLY ABNORMALLY VIBRATED. AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CREEP FORWARD IN TRAFFIC AS NORMAL, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN. AS I NEARLY APPROACHED COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME, I ENGAGED THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH MY FOOT, AND THAT DID NOT SEEM TO SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE EITHER. A SECOND ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOTHING AS WELL. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR ALMOST SLOWED TO A STOP DUE TO ROLLING FRICTION AND A SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE IN THAT PORTION OF THE FREEWAY. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AT THIS TIME AND RESTARTED THE CAR. AFTER RESTARTING, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND BRAKE PROPERLY THE REST OF MY SHORT JOURNEY HOME. THIS ENTIRE EPISODE IS CAPTURED ON MY DASHBOARD CAMERA, AND IT SEEMS OTHERS ON THE INTERNET HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
AIR CONDITIONING MESSED UP SO WE TOOK IT IN. WAS TOLD IT IS THE EVAPORATOR COIL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER WHICH SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THIS IS AN ISSUE A LOT OF JEEP OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH. THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS HOT AIR AND MAKES A SOUND LIKE IT IS CUTTING OFF AND THEN BACK ON. IT HAPPENS WHETHER WE ARE PARKED OR IN MOTION. WE HAVE LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON OUR CAR TOO SO THIS SEEMS LIKE IT'S JUST A PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE.
EMISSION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR SMALL EVAPORATION EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK P0456 FAULT CODE. ALSO, FUEL TANK WONT FILL WITH FUEL AT HIGHER NOZZLE FLOW RATES... POSSIBLY DUE TO TANK CHECK VALVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL DISQUALIFY THE EMISSION TEST FOR THE VEHICLE AND PREVENT OBTAINING A LICENCE PLATE RENEWAL. THE CHECK VALVE WILL ONLY ALLOW A SLOW FILL USING A MANUAL GRASP OF THE NOZZLE LEVER TO RESTRICT THE FLOW TO THE SMALLEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS A RECALL THE REFILL IS OF COURSE, IS DONE IN PARK, AT A GAS STATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OCCURS AT STARTUP.
WHEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20MN AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO GO THREW TOWN AND COMING TO A STOP. I WILL START DRIVING AGAIN AND. TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED MY JEEP WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. I HAVE BEEN IN NEUTRAL FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE IT SHIFTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS ALSO HARD SHIFTED, AND HAS HAD SURGED OF POWER WHERE IT LUNGES A HEAD.

VEHICLE BEGINS THE SHIFT HARD. SLAMMING INTO GEARS THEN ALL LIT GUTS ON DASHBOARD COME ON. CAR THEN LOOSES ALL POWER INCLUDING POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. IT ALSO STATES PARKING BRAKE MUST ENGAGED AND EMERGENCY BRAKE IS DISABLED. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON SIDE STREET IN NEIGHBORHOOD. GOING FORWARD. AFTER VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WE HAVE VIDEO OF MESSAGES AND ALL LIGHTS GOING.
TAKATA RECALL, MY INTERIOR DOOR LOCKS HANDLES KEEP BREAKING.
DRIVING MY GRAND CHEROKEE ON I-40 WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 75, I ENTERED A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN, THE CAR ACCELERATED UP TO ABOUT 90 MPH. I WAS SPEEDING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC LIKE A MAD PERSON AND, LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO KEEP MY WIFE AND I ALIVE. THEN THE BRAKES WERE ON THE FLOOR, I COULD NOT DISCONNECT THE CRUISE CONTROL, COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF GEAR AND COULD NOT TURN THE CAR OFF. AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, WE BEGAN A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THE CAR SLOWED. THEN I HAD CONTROL FOR A SHORT TIME WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT; IT CAME BACK ON AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE. WE WERE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER (70 MILES) AND THE CAR REMAINED THERE IN ORDER FOR CHRYSLER TO SEND A TEAM TO INVESTIGATE. AFTER 4 WEEKS CHRYSLER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. TELL THE TRUTH, I COMPETELY EXPECTED THEM TO NOT TAKE BLAME FOR THIS. THIS WAS THE MOST FRIGHTENING THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME - I THOUGHT FOR SURE THAT WE WOULD BE KILLED - WEAVING IN AND OUT OF DIESEL TRUCKS AND CONSTRUCTION ZONE. I TOOK OUT BARRIERS AND TRAFFIC CONES IN MY EFFORT TO SAVE US. I HAD SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT OPERATING THIS VEHICLE AGAIN BUT MY THOUGHT IS THAT CHRYSLER PROBABLY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITHOUT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I DID DISCOVER THAT THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO IF YOU ARE IN THIS PREDICAMENT AND I WISH I HAD KNOWN ABOUT IT BEFORE. IF YOU HOLD IN ON THE START BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR WILL TURN OFF. I HAD HELD IN ON THE START BUTTON BUT, EVIDENTLY, NOT FOR LONG ENOUGH. I HOPE THAT THIS MESSAGE CAN GET OUT TO OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND THAT THIS ACTION COULD SAVE LIVES.

THIS POSES MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS AS IT CAN CAUSE A REDUCTION IN THE ABILITY TO STOP IN A SAFE DISTANCE AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL FOR A LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. STRUTS CAUSE A RATTLING SOUND AND REDUCTION OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. STABILIZER BAR MAKES A CREAKING NOISE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR AT A STOP.

I PURCHASED MY GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 30K MILES. BEFORE I EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THROUGH MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. DAYS AFTER DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT, IT WOULD SLAM DOWN THROUGH GEARS DURING DECELERATION AND JUMP/JERK WHEN SHIFTING UP. A LOUD METAL THUD ACCOMPANIED THESE JOLTS BETWEEN GEARS EVERY TIME. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY, AND 25K MILES LATER (JEEP HAS 55K TOTAL) AND THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE RETURNING. RANDOM JOLTS AND JERKY SHIFTS DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION, SPECIFICALLY WHEN GOING UP OR DOWN A SLOPE OR WHEN GETTING BACK ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE WHEN DRIVING. THE DECELERATION AND DOWNSHIFT BETWEEN GEARS IS SO JARRING SOMETIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN THAT MYSELF AND PASSENGERS WILL HAVE OUR HEADS BANG FORWARD AND SEATBELT CATCH THE WEIGHT OF OUR BODIES. THE THUD NOISE IS COMING BACK RANDOMLY AS WELL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WITH ONLY 5K MILES LEFT ON MANUFACTURER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, I'M NERVOUS THAT HAVING IT'S 3RD TRANSMISSION IN LESS THAN 60K MILES IS GOING TO BE A FUTURE PROBLEM AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY DREAM VEHICLE AND THE LARGEST LOAN IN MY LIFE OTHER THAN PURCHASE OF HOUSE. CALLED DEALERSHIP BUT THEY STATE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY- CAR UNDER 36K MILES, AND WILL COST $700 TO REPLACE SINCE PLASTIC PIECE BROKEN. KIND OF AFRAID TO LEAN HEAD ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOW, IN CASE IT DEPLOYS TOO!
BETWEEN 1/2 & 1/4 TANK THE VEHICLE WILL RUN OUT OF FUEL AND STALL DUE TO THE SECONDARY TRANSFER FUEL PUMP FAILING TO RUN TO TRANSFER THE REMAINING FUEL IN THE HORSESHOE SHAPED TANK TO THE SIDE WHERE THE MAIN PUMP DRAWS FUEL FROM . THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND VEHICLE WILL NOT START UNTIL YOU ADD FUEL TO BRING THE LEVEL ABOVE 1/2 TANK . HAVE HAD IT TO DEALER TWICE FOR REPLACEMENT AND THE PUMP FAILS AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER . THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN AS VEHICLE CAN STALL DURING PASSING OR WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATIONS . THIS IS A POORLY ENGINEERED SYSTEM AND AT THE VERY LEAST THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND IMPROVED TO STOP THESE FAILURES
