THIS IS MY WIFE'S 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. WE MAINTAIN IT REGULARLY, OIL CHANGE EVERY 3000 . DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER UNTIL BAM ! SHE LOVED HER JEEP DEARLY. WOULDN'T HAD TAKEN ANYTHING FOR IT. GOING TO CHURCH, 6 MILES FROM THE HOUSE. WHEN SHE GOT THERE SHE STATED " MY JEEP IS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE". AFTER CHURCH SERVICE SHE CRANKED IT FOR ME. I TOLD HER TO SHUT IT DOWN. CHECKED OIL, " WHERE DID IT GO " . HAD TO PUT IN 3 QUARTS JUST TO GET IT HOME. SOUNDS LIKE A THRASHING MACHINE. BAD KNOCK. I COULD EXCEPT IT IF THE JEEP HAD BEEN ROUGHED OR FAST DRIVEN BUT THE JEEP IS ONLY DRIVEN TO HER WORK AND CHURCH WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55 MPH TOPS. I'M RETIRED AND SHE'S READY TO AND WE CAN'T AFFORD TO PUT A LOT OF MONEY INTO A NEW ENGINE. HEARD JEEP HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE. ESPECIALLY THE 2002-2003 MODEL. IN DECEMBER 2013, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE ABOVE-NOTED VEHICLE. SOON AFTER, I PHONED THE DEALER, MOORE CHRYSLER JEEP, PEORIA, ARIZONA, TO SCHEDULE INSTALLATION OF THE OEM TRAILER HITCH, BUT I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. IN MARCH 2014, MOORE CHRYSLER JEEP SENT ME A REMINDER NOTICE THAT MY JEEP NEEDED SOME MAINTENANCE, AND THAT AS OF DECEMBER 12, 2013, THE VEHICLE HAD AN INCOMPLETE RECALL. I PHONED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, AS WELL AS FOR THE HITCH TO BE INSTALLED. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD, ONCE AGAIN, THAT THE DEALER DIDN'T HAVE THE PART. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST SIX MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE, BUT, SO FAR, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. I AM FRUSTRATED AND FURIOUS! THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE, AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY I'M GETTING THE RUNAROUND. I DON''T KNOW WHERE TO PLACE THE BLAME, 'CHRYSLER OR THE DEALER, 'BUT EITHER WAY, NOBODY IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MOST RECENT RECALL WITH IMPORTANT SAFETY CONCERNS. WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG TO MANUFACTURE AND SUPPLY THE PART? DOES ANYONE CARE? PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST THAT I PURCHASE AND INSTALL A HITCH FROM SOME OTHER LOCATION AND WAIT FOR REIMBURSEMENT. IN ORDER OF FAILURES. REAR WIPER WOULD WORK CONSTANTLY WHILE VEHICLE IN GEAR. AIRBAG LIGHT KEPT DINGING. GATE GLASS WOULDN'T CLOSE. GATE WOULDN'T OPEN UNLESS GLASS BUTTON PUSHED ON FOB. TRIED KEY IN REAR LOCK, RADIO TURNED ON. WITH KEY NOT IN IGNITION. RADIO ON, HEATER BLOWER ON, LEFT SIDE MARKERS ON. COULD SMELL BURNING WIRES AND SMOKE IN JEEP, DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. *TR
2002 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BALL JOINTS RECALL NOTICE AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. CONSUMER ALSO STATES UNSATISFACTORY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HER VEHICLE SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR AN HOUR, BEFORE IT WAS EVEN LOOKED AT, AND IT WASN'T UNTIL SHE COMPLAINED, THAT THEY LOOKED AT IT. SHE WAS THEN INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, AND THEY NEEDED TO BE ORDERED. THE CONSUMER DECIDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO HER PERSONAL MECHANIC, WHERE THE WAS FIXED IN LESS THAN TWO HOURS.
THE SUNROOF STOPPED CLOSING ALL THE WAY. BITS OF PLASTIC STARTED FALLING OUT. IT WAS STUCK OPEN FOR OVER A YEAR AND I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO LOOK INTO IT. THE TRACK IS BROKEN WITH NO INCIDENT OR CAUSE. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT THESE SUNROOFS ARE PRONE TO FLYING OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND AN EXTREMELY COSTLY REPAIR FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE M35/NHTSA 12V-527 MONTHS AGO. I WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALER IN OWATONNA, MN ABOUT 1-2 MONTHS AFTER I GOT IT,THIS LAST SUMMER, AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET! THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD SEND ME ANOTHER NOTICE WHEN THE PARTS COME IN. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY SUCH NOTICE. A FRIEND OF MINE ALSO HAS A JEEP, AND SAID HE WENT TO THE FARIBAULT LOCATION, WHERE HE LIVES, AND THEY FIXED HIS JEEP RIGHT AWAY. MINE STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 1-2 YEARS TO GET A TRAILER HITCH PUT ON ! AFTER EACH NOTICE I RECEIVED I CALLED A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP,BERNARD'S CHRYSLER OF NEW RICHMOND WI. EACH TIME I CALLED TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT, THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ORDER THE TRAILER HITCH AND WHEN IT COMES IN THEY WOULD CALL AND WE WILL SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT! THIS HAS GONE ON FOR 1-2 YEARS WITH THEM NEVER CALLING BACK TO SAY THEY HAVE THE HITCH IN! THE CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND TOLD ME THAT THE SWITCH IN THE LATCH CAN ACTIVATE ON IT'S OWN, AND THAT THE LATCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. PAID OVER $180 FOR A NEW SWITCH AND 5 MONTHS LATER, THE WINDOW IS POPPING OPEN ON ITS OWN AGAIN. BESIDES LETTING IN THE COLD IN THE WINTER, HEAT IN THE SUMMER, WE ARE ALSO EXPOSED TO EXHAUST FUMES WHEN THIS IS OPEN. IT'S CURRENTLY BEING HELD SHUT (BUT NOT SEALED) WITH A TIE STRAP.

ON SEPT 18,2013 I TOOK MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY IN TO GET RECALL M35 WIRE HARNESS INSTALLED SO MY AIRBAG LIGHT WILL FINALLY GO OFF AND NOT STAY ON ALL THE TIME, TOOK MERTENS GARAGE 2 HRS TO INSTALL IT, I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD ONE MILE AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN, I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THE RECALL WAS FOR THE WIRE HARNESS ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WOULDN'T BE COVERED. I WAS NOT VERY HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS AND HOW I WAS TREATED, SINCE I BOUGHT MY JEEP BRAND NEW FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. IAM SCARED TO DRIVE MY JEEP WITH MY KIDS IN THERE IN CASE THE AIRBAG WOULD GO OFF ON ITS OWN! WHAT CAN I DO SINCE IAM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON?? PLEASE GET BACK TO ME.
