THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

ITEM #1 OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC). I AM CHAGRINED WITH THE TARDINESS OF JEEP/CHRYSLER MOTORS CORPORATION IN THEIR TARDY COMPLIANCE WITH THIS RECALL (12V-527). ORIGINALLY ISSUED ON JANUARY 3, 2013, MY DAUGHTER (FORMER OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE) VISITED A JEEP DEALER IN WASHINGTON DC. THEY SAID "NO PARTS ARE YET AVAILABLE...WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY ARE". AT A LATER DAY (MAY 2013) MY DAUGHTER VISITED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER (COURTESY MOTOR SALES, INC., ALTOONA PA) AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE PROBLEM...AGAIN "WE CANNOT GET THE PARTS, THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE". I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM MY DAUGHTER AND HAVE VISITED COURTESY MOTOR SALES TWICE SINCE I PURCHASED (LATEST AUGUST 27, 2013) WITH THE SAME ANSWER "WE DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY ARRIVE"! IT IS INCONCEIVABLE THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT BEING MADE AVAILABLE FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM! AT THE PRESENT TIME I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS NOW ON CONSTANTLY AND THE RECALL NOTES THAT ....."A DAMAGED COMPUTER CHIP COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, FOLLOWED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BY AN INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT AIRBAGS (LIBERTY AND GRAND CHEROKEE)......". THE RECALL NOTICE CONTINUES BY STATING THAT "INAVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE CRASH". HOW MANY MORE INJURIES AND POSSIBILITIES OF CRASHING MUST IT TAKE TO GET ACTION ON THIS? IN CONCLUSION, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOUR RECALLS ARE NOT BEING "TENDED TO" IN AN EXPEDIENT MANNER. I AM GETTING "LIP SERVICE" AND YOU ARE BEING IGNORED. IF EITHER OF THESE RECALL PROBLEMS DO HAPPEN, BOTH YOUR ORGANIZATION (FOR NOT ENFORCING IN A TIMELY MANNER) AND CHRYSLER MOTOR CORPORATION (FOR DELAYING REMEDY) WILL BE THE RESPONSIBLE PARTIES. *TR

DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT RECEIVER FAILED TO RESET SO IT COULD BE USED AGAIN, HAD TO USE SCREW DRIVER TO FORCE THE RECEIVER TO POP BACK OUT SO I COULD INSERT THE BELT INTO THE RECEIVER, CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, NOW OVER 2 WEEKS AND THE RECEIVER NEVER RESETS, MUST ALWAYS USE SCREWDRIVER BEFORE I CAN LOCK SEATBEALT TO ITS RECEIVER. 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES AND UNSATISFACTORY CUSTOMER SERVICES AT DEALERSHIP. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL A MONTH LATER, REGARDING THE FUEL TANK, WHICH STATED THE REPAIRS WERE SUPPOSED TO BEGIN IN JULY 2013.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE INTERIOR CEILING IGNITED INTO FLAMES WHILE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ROOF COMPLETELY MELTED AND THE PASSENGER'S SEAT OCCUPANT SUSTAINED BURNS TO BOTH ARMS AND THE FINGERS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. JEEP CRY IS IGNORING FUEL TANK PROBLEM RECALLED. *TR
HAD RECENTLY CHECKED THE OIL, AND EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. JUST GOT BACK FROM A LONG TRIP WITH NO PROBLEMS. THEN 3 WEEKS LATER WITH NO WARNING, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A BAD SOUND. (WHICH IT HAD NEVER DONE) NO WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH, NOTHING. PULLED OVER CHECKED THE OIL AGAIN AND IT REGISTERED A LITTLE LOW WHICH WAS ALSO UNUSUAL. PUT A QUART OF OIL IN IT AND HEADED THE 7 MILES HOME, BUT BY THE TIME I GOT HOME THE ENGINE SOUNDED HORRIBLE, I DROVE VERY CAREFUL AND WATCHED THE GAUGES AND FOR ANY WARNING LIGHTS INCLUDING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OIL LIGHT TO COME ON BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. IT JUST SOUNDS LIKE CRAP. I HAD A MECHANIC FRIEND COME TO MY HOUSE TO LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A NEW ENGINE. WHAT THE HECK, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. WHY IS JEEP OR CHRYSLER DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE ENGINE HAS EXTREMELY LOW MILES, SHOULD BE GOOD FOR LONGER THAN THIS. *TR
THE HORN MEMBRANE HAS FAILED AND IT WILL REQUIRE THE ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED OR I AM STUCK WITH NO HORN. THE HORN SHOULD NOT BE TIED TO THE AIRBAG. THEY WANT 1,500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG WITH THE HORN. TO DATE I AM WITHOUT A HORN. STILL NO WORKING HORN WHICH IS AN ALERTING DEVICE TO OTHER MOTORISTS

DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT LATCH FAILS TO LATCH
WHEN DRIVING WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON, LIGHTS BEGIN FLASHING OFF AND ON, ALONG WITH A CLICKING NOISE SUCH AS A RELAY. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO THEY FINALLY STAY ON SOLID. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS ON A DARK ROAD, AND CONFUSING TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC! WE TOOK THE CAR TO A JEEP DEALER WHO FOUND NO DEFECT. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION OF THIS HAPPENING. HOWEVER THERE ARE NUMEROUS ENTRIES ON THE INTERNET DESCRIBING THIS SAME ISSUE, INCLUDING THIS WEB SITE. CHRYSLER CLEARLY DOES NOT WANT TO OWN UP TO THIS EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
JEEP SENT ME NOTICE BACK IN JAN. 2013 THAT MY JEEP HAD A SAFETY RECALL FOR M35/NHTSA 12V-527 NOTIFICATION M35. IT STATES AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP. GOES ON TO SAY PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR REMEDY AT THIS TIME. AFTER FOLLOWING UP 8 MONTHS LATER STILL NOT PARTS? WHAT GOOD IS A SAFETY RECALL IF SOMEONE IS NOT ENSURING THEY HAVE PARTS OR ARE MAKING PARTS IN A TIMELY MANNER?????? ALSO THE OTHER RECALL THAT APPLIES ABOUT THE FIRE ISSUE IF HIT IN REAR. I WAS CONTACTED MONTHS AGO ABOUT CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL M 35. MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR SERVICE AND I ASKED THAT M 35 BE COMPLETED. THE DEALERSHIP MCCALL MOTORS OF EBENSBURG, PA 15931 SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE RECALL BUT HAVE HAD NO OTHER INFORMATION OR PARTS OR INSTRUCTIONS FROM CHRYSLER. THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THEY RECEIVE PARTS. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER ARTICLES REGARDING M35, THE PARTS WERE TO BE AVAILABLE BY APRIL OF 2013 . AS OF LAST WEEK (AUGUST 2013) THIS DEALER CANNOT DO THE REPAIR. *TR

LEARNED THRU INTERNET SEARCH THAT THERE ARE 2 RECALLS ON MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY: (1) UNWARRANTED AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND (2) POSSIBLE GAS TANK EXPLOSION IF REAR-ENDED. I CALLED THE JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND TALKED TO A MATT, WHO CONFIRMED BOTH RECALL ITEMS. HE SAID I WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER FROM JEEP TELLING ME HOW TO PROCEED, BUT THAT AT THIS TIME THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX BOTH RECALL PROBLEMS WERE BACK-ORDERED. SO I AM DRIVING A CAR IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS MIGHT EXPLODE AT ANY TIME (MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL) AND IF I AM REAR-ENDED THERE IS A GOOD LIKELIHOOD THAT MY GAS TANK WILL EXPLODE. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, WHILE WAITING FOR CHRYSLER TO NOTIFY HIM, AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 4, 2013, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IT CONTINUED TO COME ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN, USUALLY AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. THE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT, AND COME BACK ON. THERE WAS ALSO A BEEP, WHEN THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN APRIL 2013 IN REGARD TO AIRBAG PROBLEM ON A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP, SEVERAL TIMES AND AS OF TODAY AUGUST 2ND 2013 HAVE HAD NO REPAIR OR RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER CORP THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. IF I'M INJURED OR A FAMILY MEMBER IS INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE THERE WILL BE A LAWSUIT FILED ON BEHALF OF IT THERE IS NO REASON THIS ISSUE HAS TAKEN SO LONG TO FIX. SOMETIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL RE-STARTS TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF. AFTER READING SOME ARTICLES ONLINE, I AM WORRIED THAT MY AIRBAGS MAY SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOY. *TR

RECENTLY I HAD MAJOR REPAIRS TO MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CODE PO442. THROUGH THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TOP SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK HAD DETERIORATED TO THE POINT WHERE HOLES HAD FORMED, CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION DUE TO FUEL AND FUEL FUME RELEASE. THE TANK WAS REPLACED WITH A REFURBISHED ONE SINCE JEEP NO LONGER MANUFACTURERS THE FUEL TANK. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AT A CERTIFIED JEEP DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FROM AUGUST 1 THRU AUGUST 7. I CONTACTED JEEP TO INFORM THEM OF THE UNSAFE CONDITION WITH THE VEHICLE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. I REQUESTED ASSISTANCE WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. I HAVE A SET OF 4 UNIROYAL LIBERATOR A/T P235 70R16 TIRES DOT APO8 C62U 4410 THAT HAVE HORRIBLE PROBLEMS. ONE OF THEM IS SO ELLIPTICAL THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE RIDING ON A EGG SHAPED TIRE THAT ALMOST MAKES YOU SICK AT SLOWER SPEEDS. IT HAS A AWFUL VIBRATION AT HIGHER SPEEDS. DURING INSPECTION FOR VACATION FOUND RUST AND CORROSION WHERE BRAKE LINES ARE THREADED INTO BRAKE ASSEMBLE ON FRONT WHEELS. THERE IS A RUBBER BUMPER TO PROTECT AGAINST RUBBING BUT IF PUSHED UP TO FAR ONTO CRIMPED FITTING IT ALLOWS WATER AND DIRT TO COLLECT AND RUST PART.
