TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED RECALL LETTER 06V288000 FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE 2002 JEEP LIBERTY WHICH HAS AN ODOMETER READING OF 71,000 MILES. HE WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST ON 11/20/06. HE WAS STILL WAITING FOR THE PART. THE CONTACT HAS NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE DELAY IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. *AK

TL* - THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 03V460000 FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE 2002 JEEP LIBERTY WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 42,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED CALLED THE DEALER, )AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT IT WILL BE A FIVE WEEK WAIT FOR THE REPAIR TO BE SCHEDULED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE WAITING PERIOD. AK
TL* - THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL 06V288000 FOR THE 2002 JEEP LIBERTY CONCERNING LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT THE EFFECT THAT THE BALL JOINT HAD ON THE TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO MATTER WHAT SPEED SHE WAS DRIVING AT, BUT USUALLY AT ABOUT 15 MPH SHE FELT AND HEARD THE SUSPENSION IN THE CAR SHIFTING WHENEVER SHE HIT A BUMP. THE CONTACTS COMPLAINT WAS THAT AFTER ONE AND A HALF YEARS THE TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BALD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE SAFETY RECALLS ON THE BALL JOINTS. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 11/2005 SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AFTER MAKING A TURN. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE, THE CONTACT LEARNED FROM THE DEALER THAT ALL OF THE STEERING FLUID LEAKED OUT, AND THE POWER STEERING BELT SPLIT IN HALF. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL AS WELL.*AK UPDATED 2/7/2007 - THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCE EXTENDED CRANK TIME TO START. THE DEALER REPLACED EH FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP RESERVOIR. THE LAP BELT IN THE REAR SEAT BECAME TWISTED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO REVERSE THE CONSUMER HEAR A NOISE. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE LIGHTER WAS INOPERATIVE. *NM
I HAVE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT CANNOT GET IN THE PROPER PARTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT JEEP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, AND THAT I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *JB
THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED (BROKE). TOOK TO AUTHORIZED DEALER. THEY REPLACED SWITCH,WHICH BROKE AGAIN,DURING THEIR TESTING PROCESS. I AM NOW ADVISED THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WITH THE STEERING COLUMN THAT IS BREAKING THE SWITCH, DEALER SAYS COMPLETE STEERING COLUMN HAS BEEN REPLACED. THEY CAN NOT OR WILL NOT EXPLAIN WHAT IN THE COLUMN IS BREAKING THE IGNITION SWITCH. THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THIS WILL EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM. WHERE THIS IS SOMETHING INTERNAL, THERE IS NOW WAY FOR THE OWNER/OPERATOR TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. IF THE SWITCH WERE TO BREAK DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, WHO KNOWS WHAT THE OUTCOME WOULD BE. *JB

PLASTIC DUST SHIELD ON SHIFTER ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF IN COLD WEATHER. SHOP ESTIMATE OF NEARLY $400 TO REPLACE ENTIRE SHIFT ASSEMBLY SINCE PLASTIC PIECE CANNOT BE FIXED ON ITS OWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS WERE CUT CLOSE TO THE RETRACTOR. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS UNKNOWN. MY JEEP LIBERTY 2002 WAS RECALLED FOR "REPLACEMENT OF POSSIBLE BALL JOINT CORROSION". I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP DON WHITE'S TIMONIUM JEEP DEALER, AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVES ONLY 3 SETS FROM JEEP PER WEEK AND I WOULD THEREFORE BE WAITING FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I FELT THIS WAS NOT TIMELY. I CALLED THE DAIMLER CHRYSLER QUESTION LINE AND WAS TOLD THE SAME INFO. I DO NOT THINK ANY RECALL FOR SAFETY ISSUES SHOULD WAIT FOR MONTHS TO REPAIR. THE NAME OF THE DEALERSHIP WAS DEERWOOD CHRYSLER JEEP IN KINGWOOD, TX. *AK UPDATED 1/19/2007 - THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALER IS ONLY RECEIVING 3 BALL JOINTS PER WEEK FROM THE MANUFACTURER. OREGON POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT. JEEP LIBERTY. DRIVER SWERVED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING AN ANIMAL IN THE ROAD VEHICLE RAN ON THE SHOULDER FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST AGAINST A UTILITY POLE. *MC THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
1/24/04 - BROUGHT JEEP LIBERTY IN FOR RECALL ON LOWER BALL JOINT - "BALL JOINTS REPLACED" PER JEEP DEALERSHIP. 3/25/2006 - WHILE PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPOT, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BROKE OFF OF THE AXLE DUE TO CORROSION OF THE UPPER BALL JOINT. BREAKING TOP OF TIRE FROM AXLE. 9/27/2006 - RECEIVED A NEW RECALL NOTICE FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT LOWER BALL JOINT WAS ON BACK ORDER AND UNAVAILABLE. DEALER TOLD ME TO CALL BACK IN 90 DAYS. CALLED OTHER DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED RECALL REPAIR. 10/14/2006 - TOOK DAY OFF OF WORK, BROUGHT CAR IN TO SECOND DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE BALL BEARINGS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE BALL BEARINGS. 12/25/2006 - WIFE PULLED OUT OF PARKING SPACE. LEFT FRONT TIRE POPPED OUT, APPEARS THAT RECALLED LOWER BALL BEARING BROKE. SEPARATING BOTTOM OF TIRE FROM AXLE. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT STADIUM AUTOMALL DEALERSHIP, RUTHERFORD NJ , WHERE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED, WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. HAVE HAD PROBLEMS AT THIS DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST. HAVE HAD "OIL CHANGES, TUNE UPS, ETC" TO LATER FIND THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER REPLACED THE LUBE EXPRESS OIL FILTER THAT WAS DATED AND INSTALLED PREVIOUSLY. *JB

THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS. THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FELT FUNNY. THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A RECALL FOR THE SAME FAILURE IN 2003. THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED JANUARY 24, 2004. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE 06V288000 RECENTLY. HE CALLED THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF PARTS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD TO CALL BACK IN THREE MONTHS. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. *AK
THANKS GOD THERE WAS NO CRASH OR DAMAGE YET. I'VE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS RECOMMENDED TO FULFILL SAFETY RECALL FOR MY JEEP LIBERTY. I CALLED MOSCOW DEALER "MUSA-MOTORS" (WWW.MUSA-MOTORS.RU) AND THEY SAY THAT "THEY DO NOT DO RECALLS ON HOLIDAYS" THEY ONLY DO THE WORK, WHICH WILL COST ME MONEY. IT IS NOT GOOD BECAUSE F23 RECALL - IS LOWER BALL JOINTS REPLACEMENT THAT MEANS SAFETY. AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME OR MY FAMILY YOU'LL BE IN CHARGE OF. THAT'S WHY, I'M ASKING TO STOP MUSA-MOTOR'S DEALING LICENSE AS A JEEP DEALER. *NM

DEALER AND CHRYSLER DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS OR KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIRS FOR OUR VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WOULD TAKE THREE TO FOUR WEEKS TO REPAIR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT IS NUMBER 171 ON THE LIST. THE DEALER WAS WILLING TO INSPECT THE VEHICL. HOWEVER, IT WILL TAKE 40 WEEKS TO RECEIVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR IT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 63,000. *AK

SHE LATER DISCOVERED ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINTS AND HER VIN WAS INCLUDED. SHE FILED A REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER ON DECEMBER 15, 2006 AND SENT ALL OF THE REQUESTED FORMS AND INFORMATION. THE CONTACT HAS NOT BEEN REIMBURSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 139,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,479.
SAFETY RECALL F23 - LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY 2002 MODEL YEAR JEEP LIBERTY. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP IN ALEXANDRIA TO PERFORM THIS RECALL AND WAS INFORMED IT WILL TAKE 6 WEEKS TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. I BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A REASONABLE TIME FOR ME TO USE MY VEHICLE WHEN THERE MAY BE A CHANCE OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO BAD BALL JOINTS. *NM

TL* - THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE 06V288000 FOR A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE VEHICLE HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT. SHE CALLED THE DEALER AND HER NAME WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. SHE IS NUMBER 31 ON THE LIST. THE CONTACT IS NOT CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE.
MY COMPLAINT IS NOT IN REGARD TO ANY TYPE OF INCIDENT, CRASH OR INJURY. IT IS IN REGARD TO A SAFETY RECALL I RECEIVED BY MAIL FOR JEEP LIBERTY ON 12/06/06, OVER 4 MONTHS AGO. IT WAS SAFETY RECALL F23 CONCERNING LOWER BALL JOINTS FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER, STATING THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS COULD CORRODE & SEPARATE DUE TO WATER, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL OF STEERING, AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. WELL ANYWAY, THEY WERE TO REPLACE IT, AND I CALLED THE SAME DAY I GOT THE NOTICE AND WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST TO GET THIS FIXED DUE TO BACKORDER OF PARTS. I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ,AND I BELIEVE THIS WAS MY 4TH TIME CONTACTING SOMEONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SUBMITTED 2 COMPLAINTS ALREADY TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY, AND NOW THIS IS WHAT I WAS E-MAILED BACK AND TOLD TO DO . MY BIGGEST CONCERN WAS THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND MY FAMILY. WE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON A DAILY BASIS, AND I NOT ONLY THINK IT WAS UNFAIR TO US TO BE ENDANGERING OUR LIVES, BUT ALSO THE LIVES OF MANY OTHER DRIVERS IF MY VEHICLE WAS TO LOSE CONTROL. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE SUPPLIED WITH A RENTAL CAR VIA THEIR EXPENSE UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM. I THINK 4 MONTHS HAS BEEN VERY ADEQUATE TIME, AND THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD IT RESOLVED BY NOW. RECENTLY, WE TOOK A ROAD TRIP AND HAD TO RENT A CAR BECAUSE WE WERE TOO SCARED TO DRIVE THIS FAR THROUGH MOUNTAINS, ETC. HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A BALL JOINT BLOWING OUT! THIS IS RIDICULOUS & NEEDS TO BE GIVEN PRIORITY ATTENTION!! AREN'T YOU GUYS SUPPOSED TO WANT TO KEEP OUR ROADS SAFE? PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANKS. *AK

CONSTANT POWER TRAIN PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. *TR [E-MAIL 1-18-08] IT IS NOT A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM. IT IS REALLY AN ENGINE SLUDGING PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR CHRYSLER PRODUCTS SUCH AS THE INTREPID AND DURANGO. IT IS NOW STARTING TO SHOW UP ON VEHICLES LIKE MINES, WHICH IS A JEEP LIBERTY. MY VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DECEMBER 21, 2007 AND IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS EVERY SINCE. I WAS INFORMED IT IS AWAITING A CAMSHAFT THAT IS ON A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER WITH NO ETA. IN MY OPINION, IT IS OBVIOUS OTHER VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. THE DEALER REFUSE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO PRODUCE ALL OF MY RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 61,000 MILES AND I WAS ABLE TO COME UP WITH RECEIPTS FROM 38,000 UP UNTIL THE CURRENT MILEAGE. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SUCH AS OVERHEATING AND CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, 49,622, 51,621, 51,793, 55,182, 57,269 AND FINALLY 61,211, ALL DUE TO ENGINE SLUDGING. I WAS TOLD ALL THE PROBLEMS WERE DUE TO IMPROPER OIL CHANGES AND/OR CHEEP GASOLINE; HOWEVER, I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S SUGGESTED INTERVALS AND HAVE ALWAYS USED GASOLINE FROM DISTRIBUTORS SUCH AS AMOCO, EXXON AND VALERO. I SUSPECT THIS IN ANOTHER DEFECTIVE CHRYSLER PRODUCT THAT WILL COST THE MANUFACTURER MILLIONS IF THEY DID THE RIGHT THING. WHY IS THERE A SHORTAGE OF CAMSHAFTS FOR THIS VEHICLE? WHY IS THIS PART IN HIGH DEMAND? HOPEFULLY YOUR INVESTIGATION WILL REVEAL WHAT IS TRULY GOING ON. I RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL F23 09/27/06. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACE THE FIRST WEEK IN OCTOBER. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE BACK ORDERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK. I WAS TOLD ON 11/10/06 IT WOULD BE ANOTHER WEEK TO 10 DAYS AND CALLED AGAIN ON 12/01/06 AND WAS TOLD THAT DAIMLERCHRYSLER WAS ONLY RELEASING 3 PARTS AT A TIME TO THEM. I HAVE AN INFANT AND CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT DAIMLERCHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL SAYING WE COULD LOSE STEERING CONTROL WITH NO WARNING AND THEY ARE NOT SUPPLYING THE PARTS TO FIX IT QUICKLY. *NM
I HAVE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (F23) FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE RUSSELLVILLE,ARKANSAS (I AM ATTENDING SCHOOL AND WORKING THERE) LOCATION SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED THEY HAVE TOLD ME PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND TO CALL BACK. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT WAS LOWERED, THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE POPPING NOISE. WHEN THE SEAT WAS RAISED BACK UP, THE HOUSING TO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WAS FOUND TO HAVE FRACTURED AWAY FROM THE ASSEMBLY AND LANDED ON THE FLOORBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO DISCOLORATION IN THE FRACTURED AREA OF THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. A SERVICE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, WHO STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE AUTHORITY TO REPLACE THE PART FREE OF CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED, WHO PROVIDED THE SAME RESPONSE.

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL F23 FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER STATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. MY WIFE CALLED AND HAD THE PART ORDERED FROM A LOCAL DEALER. IT WAS ORDERED ON 11-16-6 AT 430PM. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 12-1-06, IN MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY, AND LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP WHILE HEADING SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 43 (IN WISCONSIN). AS I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, I ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE WHEEL DIRECTION, BUT HAD NO SUCCESS. THE JEEP WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE JEEP WENT PERPENDICULAR WITH THE LANES AND ENDED UP FLIPPING OVER. I WAS THE RESTRAINED DRIVER WHILE THE JEEP FLIPPED ONE COMPLETE ROLL AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE DITCH. I WAS ALERT ENOUGH TO CALL 911, AND WAS PICKED UP BY PARAMEDICS AND TAKEN TO SAINT NICHOLAS HOSPITAL IN SHEBOYGAN, WI. AFTER BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM, I CALLED THE GARAGE AT WHICH MY JEEP WAS TOWED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY JEEP "HAS BEEN TOTALED". I WOULD LIKE THIS COMPLAINT TO GO ON FILE AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS PROBLEM WILL BE RECTIFIED. I AM STILL AWAITING A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO INFORM ME THAT MY PART HAS COME IN, BUT I NO LONGER AM ABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO MY NEXT STEP. ON 11/29/06 I HAD REPAIR ON MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY V6 SPORT 3.7L FOR BALL JOINT R&R FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT BOTH SIDES. I THEN RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL IN 7/07 REGARDING FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE LETTER STATED THAT DAIMLERCRYSLER WILL REPAIR VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE.
