THERE ARE CURRENTLY 3 RECALLS ON MY LIBERTY. I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET SERVICE FOR THESE RECALLS FROM BCP JEEP DEALER IN SMYRNA, DELAWARE TO NO AVAIL. I AM TOLD OVER AND OVER THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND WE'LL CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE. I HAVE A RECALL ON MY AIR BAGS-THEY MAY DEPLOY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN BLINKING FOR YEARS, WHICH IS A SYMPTOM OF THIS RECALL. I ALSO HAVE A PART ON MY SUSPENSION THAT MAY BREAK DUE TO RUST. THAT RECALL IS 11 YEARS OLD AND STILL NOT FIXED. NOW I HAVE A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK, WHICH MAY BURST INTO A BALL OF FLAMES IN A FENDER BENDER. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING A DEATH TRAP AND CANNOT JUST GO TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN. I WANT JEEP TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE RECALLS AND FIX THEM. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THEM GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. I CANNOT GIVE YOU EXACT DATES OF WHEN I CONTACTED BCP. I HAVE CALLED THEM MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS. I ALSO TRIED TO CONTACT THE JEEP DEALER IN DOVER, DELAWARE AND SPOKE TO A VERY RUDE INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS NO HELP TO ME. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING BACK ON AFTER REPAIR. HAS BEEN REPAIRED 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN 2 DAYS AFTER IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED THE LAST TIME. EACH AND EVERY TIME THE CAUSAL PART IS DIAGNOSED AS AN O2 SENSOR, AND YET REPLACING THEM DOES NOT SEEM TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR MORE THAN A FEW DAYS. *NLM
EXCESSIVE SHAKING AND PULSATION WHILE BRAKING. JEEP LIBERTY HAS 42,000 MILES. *AK
THE POWER WINDOWS SQUEAKED WHEN THE CONSUMER ROLLED THEM UP OR DOWN. *AK ALSO THE AIR CONDITION WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURNING VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL HAS A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH. *AK *TS
WHEN THE CONSUMER PLACED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO TURN OVER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE STARTED HAD FAILED. *AK THE BRAKES MADE A NOISE WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. THE DASH MADE A RATTLE NOISE WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD. *JB
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER WINDOW, THERE WERE NOISES COMING FROM THE DASH AND DOOR AREA. ALSO THE STARTER FAILED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS GETTING POOR GAS MILEAGE. *AK *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. *AK *JB
SPEEDOMETER HAS MALFUNCTIONED. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
I AM WRITING TO YOU BECAUSE OF SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE 2002 JEEP LIBERTY I PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2002 FROM DON BESSETTE IN MINOT, ND. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 8 MONTHS AND 7,000 MILES AFTER THE VEHICLE ORIGINALLY WENT INTO SERVICE WHICH WAS SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. OVERALL THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF A NIGHTMARE. I AM UNABLE TO KEEP TIRES ON THE JEEP BECAUSE IT CONTINUES TO COME OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN SEVERAL TIMES TO TWO DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD 4 SETS OF GOODYEAR TIRES ON THE FRONT OF THE JEEP AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 28,000 MILES ON IT! ALL OF WHICH CONTINUE TO BE DAMAGED BY THE JEEP. EVEN AFTER THE RECALL OF THE BALL JOINT IN THE FRONT END WHICH WAS REPLACED I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE JEEP HAS BEEN ALIGNED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT, YET I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT WANTS TO JUMP ALL OVER THE ROAD. CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM EVEN AFTER 6 TRIPS TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT, RUINS THE TIRES THEN IS KNOCKED OUT OF ALIGNMENT. ITS A VICIOUS CIRCLE. THEY BLAME IT ON THE TIRES EVEN THOUGH I HAVE PROVEN FOUR TIMES ITS THE JEEP THAT RUINS THE TIRES. NOT ONLY HAVE I HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS DANGEROUS JEEP BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP IT ALIGNED I HAVE ALSO HAD TO DEAL WITH WATER AND MOLD INSIDE THE CAR FOR THE PAST YEAR. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SIX TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR AND EACH TIME I CONTINUE TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP IN A 2002 JEEP THAT IS ALL OVER THE ROAD, NEW TIRES THAT ARE CUPPED AND THAT REEKS FROM MOLD AND MILDEW. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO IGNORE MY CONCERNS AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE JEEP FIXED. I ASKED RECENTLY HOW TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD I COULDNT. MEANWHILE THE JEEP IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.*AK
TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS(CLANKS) WE HAVE A JEEP LIBERTY SPORT 2 WHEEL DRIVE. DOWNSHIFTS HARD WHEN APPLYING BRAKE.(WARM OR COLD) WE HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERS SHOP ABOUT 10 OR 15 TIMES IN ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS. SHOP FOREMAN TOLD US TO WAIT UNTIL 30,000. MILE CHECK UP FOR TRANS. SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR SERVICE ON IT TO GET IT FIXED. THEY HAVE KNOW IDEA WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. SO WHY DO I HAVE WAIT?? I GUESS SOME ONE HAS TO DIE TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED? OR GET BADLY HURT!!! SO IF SOME ONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM REPORT IT BEFORE SOME ONE'S FAMILY GETS HURT. STILL NOTHING AS OF YET HAS BEEN DONE!!!!*JB
I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON THE JEEP LIBERTY. I AM VERY WORRIED THEY ARE GOING TO DROP OUT. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID I HAVE WORN LBJ(LOWER BALL JOINTS) SO THIS IS A VERY SCARY THING TO ME. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER WARRIENTY.
BRAKE ROTORS WARPED AT 22000 MILES, EVERE SHIMMY WHEN BRAKING ABOVE 60 MPH. HAD ROTORS RESURFACED, ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN AT 45000 MILES.*AK
LOWER JOINT FAILURE ON NEW JEEP LIBERTY. *NLM
LAST WEEK I HAD 5 ROCK CHIPS REPAIRED IN MY WINDSHIELD. YESTERDAY I HEARD A LOUD PING AND SAW ANOTHER CHIP (FROM NO OBVIOUS SOURCE). THIS MORNING, I FOUND A LARGE CRACK ABOUT 16 INCHES LONG FROM YET ANOTHER CHIP I HADN'T EVEN NOTICED. I BELIEVE THE WINDSHIELD GLASS IS EXTREMELY BRITTLE AND/OR ANGLED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO CATCH ANY ROCKS THAT MAY HIT IT AND BREAK AND/OR CHIP WITH MINIMUM FORCE. *NLM
THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED WENT HAYWIRE. THE HORN STUCK ON, THE BACK GLASS WINDOW POPPED OPEN, THE SIGNAL RELAY WAS BUZZING, THE DOOR OPEN BELL WAS RINGING, AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS DEAD, ALL WHILE I WAS DOING 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. *JB

AT THE END OF THE 2001 I BOUGHT A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT WITH SERVICE CONTRACT. MINOR PROBLEM HAVE OCCURRED IN THE FIRST YEAR. IN THE 16TH MONTH OF OWNERSHIP THE VEHICLE ENGINE FAILED WHILE I WAS MAKING A TRIP TO LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. MY FAMILY AND I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IT SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND HAD IT TOWED TO TOBIN JEEP IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED AND THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE ENGINE. CHRYSLER PROMISED THAT THE NEW ENGINE WOULD ARRIVE BY MAY 5, 2003 SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED ON APRIL 30, 2003. I DECIDED TO BUY A MAX CARE BECAUSE I PLANNED ON KEEPING THIS CAR FOR A LONG TIME. TOBIN THE DEALERSHIP DID LOAN ME A CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT IN NEVADA. I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE IT BACK TO CALIFORNIA WHERE MY JOB AND MY RESIDENCE ARE. IT WAS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT FOR ME BECAUSE HAVE TO TAKE THE GREYHOUND BUS BACK TO CALIFORNIA OR LOOSE MY JOB. CHRYSLER HAS GIVEN ME $30.00 A DAY FOR MAXIMUM OF FIVE DAYS CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD AND CHRYSLER PROMISED TO REIMBURSE. I NOW USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. I?VE BEEN LATE FOR WORK THE LAST 3 WEEKS AND I?M STARTING TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH MY BOSS. ON MAY 28,2003 AT 9:00 PM I CALLED TOBIN JEEP THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE IN DONE AND IT JUST NEEDED TO BE TEST DRIVEN. THE NEXT DAY THE MAY 29,2003 I WAS GETTING READY TO TAKE GREYHOUND BUS AFTER WORK AT 11:00 P.M. BACK TO NEVADA TO PICK UP MY JEEP LIBERTY. I CALLED TO CONFIRM TO MAKE SURE THE CAR IS FIXED. TOBIN JEEP INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME. BEFORE THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS THE PROBLEM AND NOW THE ENGINE VALVE HEAD IS THE PROBLEM. I CALLED AGAIN ON JUNE 10, 2003. TOBIN THE DEALER INDICATES THAT THE VALVE SPRING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE ENGINE FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME. THE VEHICLE IS NOW 40 DAYS AND COUNTING IN THE SHOP AT TOBIN JEEP IN LAS VEGAS NEVADA. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TO TOW A SMALL BOAT. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE NOT TOWING THE BOAT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, OTHERWISE WE WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY IS WELL WITHIN ITS ORIGINAL BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY PERIOD. SUDDENLY IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, LOST POWER, AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. IT STILL RUNS IN 1ST, 2ND, AND REVERSE GEARS, BUT SLIPS OUT AT EVERY STOP LIGHT AND HAS TO RE-ENGAGE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WON'T HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THE TRANSMISSION WAS DRAINED BEFORE I DROVE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP - BUT THAT'S EXACTLY THE SYMPTOM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!! THEY ADMIT THE VEHICLE COULDN'T GO MORE THAN A COUPLE OF MILES WITH FLUID THAT LOW, BUT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED DURING A HIGHWAY TRIP AND NO ONE COULD HAVE DRAINED THE FLUID WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THERE ARE NO LEAKS OR DRIPS UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY KIND. WHERE DID THE FLUID GO? OUR LIBERTY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE. OTHER LIBERTY OWNERS WILL PROBABLY EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM AROUND 32000 MILES. PLEASE WARN THEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.*JB

THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FOWARD AND COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE, ALSO THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONSUMER PROPERLY AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY INJURED. *JB

ACCIDENT ON MARCH 25TH, 2002. THE OTHER DRIVER RAN A STOP SIGN GOING 10-15 MPH. I WAS GOING 45 MPH. HIS TOYOTA CAMRY STRUCK MY JEEP LIBERTY ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE IMPACT TORE THE FRONT TIRE OFF AND RIPPED OUT THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION. THERE WAS NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. I SLAMMED INTO THE DASH AND HAD SEVERE BRUISES ON MY KNEES.*JB
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, AND THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT PERFORM AS DESIGNED. *JB
THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT ALL THE TIME. RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, THEY ALIGNED IT BUT IT STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO WORK WITH MY LOCAL DEALER. HE CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND IT IS ALIGNED TO SPECIFICATION. HE CLAIMS THE TRUCK JUST FOLLOWS THE CROWN IN THE ROAD. I TESTED THE TRUCK IN A FLAT PARKING LOT BY DRIVING BETWEEN ALIGNED PARKING SPACES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. IT STILL PULLED TO THE RIGHT. I DON'T DOUBT THAT IT IS ALIGNED, I BELIEVE THERE IS (ARE) OTHER PROBLEMS. I CAN'T GET A SATISFACTORY RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER OR COMPANY.*JB

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 20 MILES AN HOUR ON DRY PAVEMENT ON A CLEAR DAY. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BREAKED, I PRESSED ON MY BREAK AND MY JEEP LIBERTY DID NOT SLOW AT ALL. I CONTINUED TO PRESS HARDER ON THE BREAK INJURING MY RIGHT FOOT AND THEN SLAMMED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. SIDEWALL DESTROYED. NO PUNCTURE MARKS/ROAD HAZARDS FOUND. 6700MI ON TIRE. INFLATED TO MANF. RECOMMENDED AIR PRESSURE (WAS JUST SERVICED THAT MORNING- TIRES DID NOT NEED AIR.) TRAVELING AT 35-40MPH. GOODYEAR WOULD NOT HONOR WARRANTY ON TIRE.
THE RIMS HELD WATER DURING RAIN WHICH CAUSED THE RIMS TO RUST ON THE VALVE STEM. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE RIMS COULD DEVELOP ENOUGH RUST TO BREAK THEM OFF THE VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY OWNER.*AK THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE RIMS OFF AND PAINT THEM. *TC
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY HAD A DRIVERS REAR TIRE BLOW-OUT ON THE INTERIOR SIDEWALL. ALL TIRES WERE INFLATED TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED AIR PRESSURE. THE TIRE HAD 7,500 MILES ON IT! GOODYEAR WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY ON THE TIRE. NO FOREIGN OBJECT WAS FOUND, THE SIDE WALL RUBBER IS PROTRUDING. THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A P235/70R16
MY DAUGHTER'S 2002 JEEP LIBERTY'S DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY SHEERED IN HALF CAUSING MY DAUGHTER TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY DAUGHTER ALSO SUSTAINED A CLOSED HEAD INJURY AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT. THIS INCIDENT OCCURED THUSDAY FEBRUARY 6, 2003. HER LEASED 2002 LIBERTY WILL BE 1 YEAR OLD MAY 2003.
SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG FAILURE DURING HEAD-ON COLLISION.*JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE HIT A LARGE PATCH OF DEEP SLUSH WHICH PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE HIT A TREE HEAD ON. THE VEHICLE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE DRIVER. THE DRIVER HIT HER HEAD ON THE DASH AND EXPERIENCED SWELLING IN HER LEFT KNEE, A STIFF NECK, HEADACHES AND BRUISING OF THE LEFT LEG AND FOREARM. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THE AIR BAGS PERFORMED AS DESIGNED SINCE THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS CENTERED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *MR *NLM *JB

2002 JEEP LIBERTY NAR 06/26/2003. *MR THE CONSUMERS JEEP WENT STRAIGHT INSTEAD OF RIGHT WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A MEDIAN . THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TWO WHEELS AND A TIRE WERE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER PAID APPROX $784.77 FOR REPAIRS AND AGAIN THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL SWAYING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SO IT COULD BE INSPECTED, HOWEVER NO PROBLEMS WERE IDENTIFIED. THE CONSUMER IS AFRAID THAT A MORE SEVERE ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR IF THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT HIM FROM BEHIND. THE DUAL AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY AT ALL. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TS
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITH NO WARNING, THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP, AND THE VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP IN THE 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO DISENGAGE. ONCE YOU GET IT GOING AGAIN, AFTER 5-10 SECONDS LATER FOR THE NEXT 3-4 SHIFTS, THE SECOND GEAR WAS TOUGH TO GET OUT OF. THE CONSUMER WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE. *SCC *AK *JB
A HEAD ON COLLISION INVOLVING A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY (VEHICLE IN QUESTION) AND A LATE MODEL HONDA CIVIC, BOTH VEHICLES MOVING AT APPROX. 20 MPH. COLLISION RESULTED IN FRONT END DAMAGE OF BOTH VEHICLES. JEEP LIBERTY FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

VEHICLES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, THEN REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION HAD A LEAKY FACTORY SEAL AND AGAIN HAD TO BE FIXED. VEHICLE PULLS TO RIGHT AS ALL OTHER LIBERTYS DO AND NOW WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, THE RIGHT FRONT MARKER LIGHT COMES ON. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS UHAULS FAULT UHAUL SAYS IT IS CHRYSLERS FAULT. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT!!
I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASE IN THE RAIN WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. THE VEHICLE WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, UP AND OVER THE CURB AND INTO SOMEONES FRONT YARD. REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP. TWO MONTHS LATER I HAD MY SECOND EXPERIENCE THAT ALSO HAPPENED IN THE RAIN. I WAS TRYING TO COME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. AT THIS TIME I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING FOUND. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT THE TIME REFERRED TO IT AS OPERATOR ERROR AND THOUGHT THAT I WOULD GET USED TO THE VEHICLE. THEN SEVEN MONTHS LATER ON JANUARY 1, 2003, I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON THE BELTWAY TRYING TO AVOID SOMETHING IN THE ROAD. IT WAS RAINING. I WAS GOING THE SPEED LIMIT (55 MPH) AND MY CAR STARTED TO SPIN AND ENDED UP GOING SOUTHBOUND IN THE NORTHBOUND LANES AND FINALLY CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE DIVIDING WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE AND THAT NO ONE ELSE WAS HURT. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR POSSIBLE DEFECTS. I FEEL THAT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A TENDENCY TO PULL TO THE RIGHT.

I'VE BEEN TOLD BY CHRYSLER AND THE NHTSA FOR OVER A YEAR NOW THAT MY FUEL TANK MAY LEAK, CATCH FIRE AND POSSIBLY EXPLODE AS A RESULT OF LA LOW SPEED REAR END COLLISION. RECALL NOTICE 13V252000, N46/NHTSA 13V-252 WAS ISSUED, YET CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO STALL IN ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME MY FAMILY CONTINUES TO BE AT RISK EVERYDAY. PLEASE ENFORCE THE RECALL BY SETTING A MEANINGFUL DEADLINE FOR THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT TALK MORE OR SEND ME ANOTHER USELESS NOTICE, BUT ACTUALLY FIX THE UNSAFE VEHICLE THEY SOLD ME. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN THEY WAS HIT AT 40MPH IN THE FRONT CENTER OF THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING MINOR INJURIES TO THE CONSUMER. *TS
I HAD A HEAD ON CRASH WITH A CEMENT DIVIDER ON DEC 24TH 2002. THE LIBERTY WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND I RECEIVED A HEAD, NECK AND BACK INJURY. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH I WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH WHEN THE CRASH ACCORDED. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AND TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE AIRBAGS. THEY STATED THE THRESHOLD FOR THE SENSORS WERE NOT MET AND IF THEY HAD, I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT WORSE. THEY SAID AIRBAGS DEPLOY AT 200 MPH AND CAN CAUSE INJURIES WORSE THAN THE CRASH. *JB
MY WIFE LOST CONTROL OF OUR 2002 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED EDITION WHILE DRIVING IN A DOWNPOUR IN THE LATE AFTERNOON ON 12/19/02. SHE CROSSED THE MEDIAN COLLIDING WITH A CAR AND A TRUCK AND CONTINUED INTO A MUDDY FIELD WHERE THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY EITHER DURING OR AFTER THE CRASH, HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN THAT SEAT. THIS ACCIDENT IS, I BELIEVE, A DRIVER SIDE FRONTAL OFFSET COLLISION TYPE. DEALER CONTACTED INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR FOR CHRYSLER WHO OBTAINED CODES FROM THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FAILED. WE HAVE NO RESULTS OF THE INVESTIGATION AS YET. LUCKILY, MY WIFE DID HAVE HER SEAT BELT FASTENED OR HER INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. SHE DOES HAVE BRUISING AND SORENESS AND BACKPAIN AND ALSO HAS NO MEMORY OF ACTUAL CRASH. NUMEROUS MEDICAL TESTS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED WHILE SHE WAS A PATIENT IN THE HOSPITAL AND AFTER HER RELEASE BUT NO MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED AS YET.
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY HOWEVER THE PASSENGERSIDE DID. COLLISION OCCURED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE CAUSING ABOUT $9500 IN DAMAGE. SCAN TEST COMPLETED AND THE INVESTIGATOR FOR CHRYSLER FOUND 3 FAULTS IN THE SQUIB 1 AND SQUIB 2 MODULES, ALSO SAID THAT THE SEATBELT TENSIONER SENSOR CREATED A FAULT WHICH TO THE COMPUTER NOT TO DEPLOY THE BAG. THE BELT WAS FASTENED AT TIME OF CRASH.
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING FRONTAL OFF-SET COLLISION, ONLY PASS. SIDE DID. FAULTS WERE FOUND IN DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT TENSIONER AND OPEN CIRCUIT FAULTS ALSO FOUND. CHRYSLER IS NOT COOPERATING WITH OUR SAFETY FAILURE AND IS MAINTAINING THAT ONLY 1 AIRBAG WAS SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY, THIS WAS STATED IN A LETTER WHICH ALSO DENIED THE FAULTS THAT HAD BEEN ALREADY FOUND. CHRYSLER WILL NOT RETURN OUR PHONE CALLS AT THIS TIME AND THE LETTER SOUNDS LIKE A COVER-UP. THE ONLY ASSISTANCE WE ARE RECEIVING ABOUT THIS MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT HAS BEEN FROM OUR DEALERSHIP WHO IS ALSO TRYING TO CONTACT THE CHRYSLER REP FOR US.
