JEEP LIBERTY 2002, IGNITION PROBLEMS. KEY GOES INTO IGNITION BUT WILL NOT MOVE BACKWARDS OR FORWARD, STEERING IS LOCKED AS WELL. LTR IN REGARDS TO THE RECALL SERVICES ON HER 2002 JEEP LIBERTY; SHE IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO RESOLVE REPAIRS DONE TO HER VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A BAD VIBRATION WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE BALANCED AND ROTATED, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO FEEL THE VIBRATION AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD RUSTED. THE WIPER BLADES WERE REPLACED. THE DRIVERS SIDE SPEAKER WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE. *JB

2002 JEEP LIBERTY. LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN BISHOP ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT, RE HER WARRANTY WITH CHRYSLER *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A CASTING FLAW FOR THE CYLINDER HEAD IN THE ENGINE. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANICS FINDINGS; THE TWO INTAKE VALVE LIFTER HOUSINGS OF THE HEAD HAD BROKEN IN HALF. THE LIFTER CAME OUT OF THE HEAD AND THE CAM JOURNAL LOBE WAS SCORED AND GROOVED. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT CHRYSLER PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR THE REPAIR. *JB

WHEN YOU ACTIVATE THE REAR WINDOW WASHER, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD GETS SPRAYED TOO! YOU MUST WIPE THE WINDSHIELD IMMEDIATELY SO YOU CAN SEE!!!. ALSO, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER; THE REAR WINDOW SPRAYER IS ACTIVATED. THIS SITUATION IS ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE AND WASTE OF WASHER FLUID. THERE NO INFORMATION IN THE DEALERS COMPUTER INFORMING THEM THAY THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY WILL NOT FORMALLY ISSUE A RECALL. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO INFO IN COMPUTERS, THEREFORE CANNOT DO REPAIRS.

I HAVE HAD TO HAVE BRAKES REPLACED ON MY JEEP 4 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR OF PURCHASE . THERE IS A CONSTANT GRINDING SENSATION WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF NEW BRAKES ., THIS CAN BE FELT BY THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT I AM VERY CONCERNED AS I USE THIS VEHICLE AS MY MAIN MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION WITH MY CHILDREN AND FEAR FAILURE MAY LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT . DEALER CORRECTED DEFECT . AUTO WORKERS SHOULD WAKE UP ON THE LINE AND DO THEIR JOB! NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK

WHILE DRIVING, WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WILL EXPERIENCE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT(S). THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT LOCATE PROBLEM, AND IS AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE REPAIRED PROPERLY. TS THE PROBLEMS ARE AS FOLLOWED: RATTLING NOISE, LEVER ON PASSENGER SIDE BROKEN OFF THE SIDE POCKET OF THE DOOR, SKIDDING, DIFFICULTY STOPPING ON DRY PAVEMENT/NOSE DIVING, ENGINE SYMBOL APPEARING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHING/THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO SHAKE, AND MISFIRING WITH FORWARD THRUSTING MOVEMENTS, AS IS IF IT WERE TO SHUT DOWN. THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS FOUND FAULTY DUE TO A MISSING BRAKE COMBINATION VALVE WHICH CAUSE SKIDDING, AND THE WAY THE VEHICLE WILL STOP. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL DRAGS. THE TIRES CRUMBLED INSIDE AND HAD BLOWN APART-FIRESTONE. SCC
HANDLING ERATIC AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH, VEHICLE WANDERS ACROSS THE ROAD, FISH TAILS. LOOSE CONTROL WHEN CHANGING LANES. STOCK TIRES ARE VERY THIN. HANDLING WOULD PROBABLY IMPROVE WITH WIDER TIRES. AT MY OFFICE WE DRIVE A FLEET OF THE JEEPS, NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. DT
CONSUMER STATE WHILE TRAVELING AT 30-40 MPH WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE GOES INTO EXTENDING STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURE HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
WHILE TRAVELING AT 75 MPH CONSUMER STATES THE PANEL UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL FELL ONTO THE DRIVERS FEET. CONSUMER STATES TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER STATED THE KNEE BOLSTER PACKING PLATE FELL OFF. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. TS

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHICH RESULTED IN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. THE DEALER REPAIR AND REPLACED HEAD GASKET SPRING. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE CAM SHAFT AND HEAD GASKET NEED TO BE REPLACED. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WHICH CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET. *NLM
VEHICLE HAS ABS FAILURE WHEN DRIVING ON WET ROADS. THIS RESULTS IN LOST OF BRAKE AND POWER STEERING.
DESIGN PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS ON 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. *MR THE REAR SWING FLIP UP WINDOW WAS UNSAFE. EVERY TIME THE REAR GATE WAS OPENED, THE WINDOW WOULD SWING OPEN. THERE WAS NO HANDLE ON THE WINDOW. (MUST FIRMLY PLACE HAND ON WINDOW TO SHUT) WHEN IT RAINED, THE WINDOW WOULD BECOME EXTREMELY SLIPPERY AND HAVE TO BE HELD FIRMLY TO LOCK. THE VEHICLE ALSO MADE A LOUD WIND NOISE WHEN DRIVEN AT 45 MILES PER HOUR. *SCC THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE *JB
CONSUMER ALLEGES THAT THERE IS A LOUD NOISE IS COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE DURING OPERATION (HIGHWAY SPEEDS). THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRUT MOUNT HOUSING BROKE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (COPY OF INVOICE FROM DEALERSHIP, ETC.). *MJJ

THE VEHICLE THEN WENT INTO A DITCH (SIDEWAYS & BACKWARDS), THEN HAD COME TO REST ON IT'S WHEELS. VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE PROBLEM WAS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL O3V460000 CONCERNING UPPER CONTROL ARM FAILURE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM REPAIRS DUE TO THE PARTS BEING ON A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. *AK
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT STEERING WHEEL GETS VERY STIFF. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON DAMP ROADS THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL REAR END COLLISIONS. *AK *NM
