WHILE DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR THE FOLLOWING TEN MINUTES THEN TURNED OFF. WHEN I NEXT DROVE THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MINUTES THE AIR BAG LIGHT RE-ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES THEN TURNED OFF AGAIN. HAD THE CAR CHECKED WITH AN ONBOARD DIAGNOSTICS DEVICE, WHICH DID NOT INDICATE ANY PROBLEM. *TR
MY WIFE WAS ENTERING AN ON-RAMP AND INCREASING SPEED. THE JEEP LIBERTY COMPLETED DIED AND THE STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NOT WORKABLE. THIS IS THE 10TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON. WE'VE HAD THE JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. I RECENTLY CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND COMPLAINED AND THEY SET ME UP WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND WE ARE WORRIED FOR OUR LIVES WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP.

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I WAS PASSENGER, MY HUSBAND [XXX] WAS DRIVING. AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND CHIMED FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, THEN SUDDENLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BRUISING [XXX]' ARM AND HURTING HIS NECK AND SHOULDER. MORE THAN A WEEK LATER, I STILL CANNOT GET ANYONE FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP TO TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON. THEY FINALLY HAD AN INSPECTOR LOOK AT IT TODAY, BUT HE SAID IT COULD BE 10-12 DAYS BEFORE I GET A RESPONSE. I KEEP FOLLOWING UP WITH CHRYSLER BY PHONE, BUT THEY WILL NOT TELL ME ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT THEY ARE INVESTIGATING IT. THEY DID TELL ME NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, LEAVING US WITH NO VEHICLE AND NO RENTAL OR ANY TYPE OF RESOLVE HAS BEEN OFFERED. I WAS LEAVING FROM WORK GOING ABOUT 45 MPH, I SMELLED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BURNING,BEFORE I COULD PULL THE JEEP OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES,I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP,BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE SMOKE HAD FILLED THE CABIN,THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DASH. NOW I HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS,WIPERS,DOOR LOCKS, RADIO,ALARM,INT LIGHTS,SPEEDOMETER,ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON. MECHANIC INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THAT THE BCM HAS A LARGE BURN HOLE IN IT THE SIZE OF A SILVER DOLLAR,I WAS VERY GLAD THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT IN THE JEEP WITH ME THAT DAY,, *TR
TWO OF THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE FAILED. BOTH OF THEM DROPPED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WOULD NOT WORK TO CLOSE THEM. ONE OF THE FAILED IN 3/2013 AND THE OTHER ONE FAILED TODAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. I KNOW THAT JEEP HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FAILURE OF THEIR WINDOWS. I KNOW THAT IT IS GOING TO COST AT LEASE $300 TO REPAIR EACH WINDOW. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD TO REPAIR THE FIRST FAILED WINDOW. I HAVE HAD TO USE DUCT TAPE OVER AND OVER TO TRY AND KEEP IT CLOSED. NOW THE SECOND WINDOW HAS FAILED AND IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME. JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THESE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS. *TR
THEY JUST DETERIORATED APART ;ALMOST LOST GAS TANK ; THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM MY JEEP IS NOT A ROOT BOX IS TAKEN CARE OF THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON RURAL ROAD. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR BUZZERS BUT NOTICED ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS INCREASING. SHE IDENTIFIED A PARKING LOT A FEW MILES UP THE ROAD WHERE SHE PLANNED TO PULL INTO SINCE THE ROAD DID NOT OFFER A SHOULDER. JUST BEFORE REACHING THE PARKING LOT THE ENGINE STALLED OUT AND SHE SMELLED OIL. WITH THE LOSS OF POWER SHE IMMEDIATELY LOST CONTROL AND ALMOST COLLIDED WITH THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SHE WAS ABLE TO CORRECT HER STEERING BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND COASTED INTO THE PARKING LOT. SHE CONTACTED ME AND WE WALKED THROUGH THE INCIDENT AND SHE OPENED THE HOOD. SHE DESCRIBED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COMPLETELY COVERED IN SMOKING OIL. I ALSO REVIEWED THE ENGINE WHEN I WENT TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE AND NOTED THAT IT HAD APPARENTLY SEIZED BECAUSE THE BELT WAS OFF. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED BUT REMAINS ELUSIVE TO ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN INCREASING AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THESE ENGINES PREMATURE FAILURE DUE TO "ENGINE SLUDGE" AVAILABLE ONLINE. I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF AN AIR BAG RECALL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. ALONG WITH THAT NOTICE IT READ THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WERE NOT AVAILABLE. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATE THAT THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE ARE WHEN THEY WOULD BE? MY CONCERN IS THE AIR BAG PROBLEM, AND ALSO THAT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY FOLLOW UP NOTICE. *TR
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE EARLIER IN THE YEAR. I BELIEVE IT WAS SOMETIME IN MARCH 2013. THE RECALL WAS ABOUT AN AIR BAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC). AGAIN, I RECEIVED THIS RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER 2013. I HAVE CALLED THE JEEP DEALER, [XXX] LOCATED ON WEST MARKET STREET IN POTTSVILLE PA 17901 THREE TIMES ABOUT THIS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD EACH TIME THAT THE PART IS BACKORDERED AND THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN THE PART COMES IN. THE LAST CALL I MADE TO THEM WAS ON DECEMBER 5, 2013 AND WAS STILL TOLD IT WAS ON BACKORDER. WHEN WILL THIS PART BE AVAILABLE AS MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON & OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR? I HAVE KNOWN 2 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE, I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY ONE WITH FIRE. MY JEEP IS LEAKING OIL FROM THE ENGINE SEAL THAT IS JUST ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE UPSTREAM EXHAUST (RIGHT BEFORE THE PASSENGER SIDE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I SMELLED BURNING OIL AND I GOT UNDER THE CAR AND THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE WHICH I EXTINGUISHED WITH MY RAG. THE PROBLEM IS ALSO A HUGE HEALTH ISSUE. IF YOU ARE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, OR STOP SIGN AND HAVE THE HEAT OR A/C ON. THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE BECOMES FILLED WITH THE BURNING SMELL. SMOKE BELLOWS OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AT THESE STOPS ALSO. I AM AFRAID OF THE THING BURSTING INTO FLAMES AT A LIGHT AND BEING HELPLESS. I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS EXACT ISSUE. ONE OF THEM GOT RID OF THEIR VEHICLE, THE OTHER STILL HAS IT. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT THAT WILL RESULT IN FIRE, OR AS I SEE IT CANCER DUE TO THE SMOKE ENTERING THE VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, [XXX], GRANDVILLE, MI ON 2-28-2013 AND WAS INFORMED THEY DID NOT HAVE PARTS FOR REPAIR. AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED, AND STAYS ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINS. THE MAJORITY OF THE ROADS NEAR ME ARE 45MPH OR ABOVE, AND WITH THE HIGH ROLLOVER RATE OF SUV'S I DON'T FEEL REMOTELY SAFE KNOWING THAT AT ANY MINUTE MY AIRBAG CAN GO OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A PRESSURE ISSUE BETWEEN THE SEAL AND THE WINDOW. I BOUGHT MY JEEP OFF OF MY GRANDPARENTS IN OCTOBER. ITS A REALLY NICE JEEP, ONLY HAS 69,000 MILES. THAT'S GOOD FOR AN 03. EVERY CAR HAS ITS PROBLEMS IM SURE. BUT MINES ON RECALL. I HAVE HAD THE AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON AND GO OFF. AND I COMES ON WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. AND IT SCARES ME BECAUSE IF THE AIRBAGS GO OFF, NOT ONLY WILL I BE MAD, BUT YOU CAN BET, ILL PROB RAISE HELL. BECAUSE I DON'T FELL SAVE DRIVING A CAR THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS GO OFF. ALSO I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE POWER LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WORKS WHEN I WANTS TO. LIKE I HAVE TO HIT IT A COUPLE TIMES TO GET IT TO WORK. NOT SUCH A BIG DEAL. ALSO THE CD PLAYER DOESN'T WORK. LIKE I'VE CHANGE ALL THE FUSES TO TRY AND GET THE DOOR LOCK/CDPLAYER TO WORK. AND NOTHING CHANGED. IT MAKE A REALLY LOUD AND ANNOYING NOISE AFTER THE CD PLAYS FOR AWHILE. THAT I DON'T CAR ABOUT. ALSO ONE DAY I GOT IN MY JEEP. AT TIMES OVER PAST COUPLE YEARS, VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING, BUT THEN RESTARTED. IN DECEMBER 2012 BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, LIGHTS ON DASH/CONSOLE DIMMED, WENT OFF AND ON ETC.
