IN NOVEMBER 2012 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL, M35/NHTSA 12V-527. STATES THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING. AT THE TIME OF THE NOTIFICATION CHRYSLER STATED THAT THE PARTS REQUIRED TO DO THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND WHEN THEY WERE THERE WOULD BE A FOLLOW UP RECALL NOTICE. IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS AND I HAVE STILL NOT HEARD ANYTHING MORE FROM THEM. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING BOTH REAR WINDOWS CAME CRASHING DOWN RESULTING IN ONE WINDOW BREAKING BROUGHT IT TO HAVE FIXED WAS TOLD PLASTIC CLIP THAT HOLD THE WINDOW UP FOR THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAILED REPLACED BOTH MOTORS AND HAD WINDOW FIXED ALL FACTORY PARTS WERE USED HAPPENED AGAIN ON 3/13/2013 APPEARS THE PLASTIC CLIP KEEPS BREAKING WILL NEED TO REPLACE BOTH MOTORS AND ASSEMBLY AGAIN AT A COST OF 600$ RIGHT NOW BOTH WINDOWS BEING HELD UP BY WOODEN STAKES CANT AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING PARTS AT NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS MOMENTARILY SHUT OFF . THERE IS A CLICK UNDER THE DASH, AND THEY GO OFF WHEN ON LOW BEAM, IF ON HIGH BEAM THEY SWITCH TO LOW BEAM. HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES. MY MECHANIC IS UN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, AND FROM CHECKING WITH OTHER LIBERTY OWNERS THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE.IT IS NOT ONLY ANNOYING BUT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V527000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 123,000.
A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS THAT COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CASE NUMBER IS 12V527000 THIS WAS ISSUED ALMOST 8 MONTHS AGO AND STILL THE PART TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LONG FOR AN AUTOMOBILE COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES PARTS TO PRODUCE THESE PARTS. *TR
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT REGARDING THE RECALL ON MY JEEP LIBERTY 2003. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT WOULD LATER GO OFF. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED. OTHER TIMES IT COMES ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT. BRAKING DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON IT. I FIRST REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER IN NOVEMBER 2012. THEY SAID NOT TO WORRY. I RECEIVED THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2013 AND A SECOND ONE ARRIVED THE FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER 2013. TO DATE I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS WELL AS 3 VISITS. AT ONE VISIT THEY FINALLY ACTUALLY LOOKED AT THE CAR AND CONFIRMED IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. TODAY I SPOKE WITH THE CHRYSLER RECALL GROUP ASSISTANCE 800 NUMBER. FIRST THEY AGREED TO HELP ME GET THE DEALER TO HONOR THE RECALL. HOWEVER, BY THE END OF THE CALL I WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE PART NEEDED TO FIX MY VEHICLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT SEE THIS AS A HIGH RISK. NOW I AM CERTAIN THAT THERE ARE HIGHER RISKS OUT THERE AND I UNDERSTAND THAT CORPORATIONS "PLAY THE NUMBERS" WHEN THEY DECIDE WHAT TO DO. BUT IN THE LONG RUN, IF MY AIR BAG DEPLOYS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE I AM DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 75 MPH I, MY PASSENGERS, AND SURROUNDING MOTORISTS ARE THE ONES WHO WILL PAY THE PRICE OF THIS DECISION. KEEP IN MIND THAT IT HAS ALREADY BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY AIR BAG IS DEFECTIVE. IT COULD DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY TIME THAT I AM DRIVING. IT IS NOT RELATED TO BRAKING, SPEED, DISTANCE TRAVELED, OR ANYTHING THAT I CAN PINPOINT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING EASTBOUND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ALL OF SUDDEN DUE TO CAR IN FRONT OF THEM CHANGING DIRECTION FROM TURNING TO GOING STRAIGHT. I CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY JEEP HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF HAD HEAD INJURIES AND KNEE INJURIES HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THERE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON BACK IN JUNE. AFTER READING ABOUT THE UN-INTENTIONAL DEPLOYMENTS I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ULTIMATELY HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED (IN JULY). A WEEK LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN (I HAVE PICTURE ON PHONE). I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALER (OF COURSE LIGHT WAS OFF BY THEN). DEALER CLAIMED NO FAULT CODE WAS ON COMPUTER AND COULD NOT FIND ISSUE (ALTHOUGH I DID SHOW THEM IPHONE PIC). LIGHT DID STAY OFF IN AUG/SEPT BUT WITHIN THE PAST WEEK THE LIGHT HAS BEGUN ILLUMINATING, STAYING ON FOR A WHILE, TURNING OFF FOR A WHILE, AND COMING BACK ON. THE VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AT NIGHT BUT THE TEMP HAS GOTTEN COOLER WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO EXCEPT SET THE SEAT BACK A LITTLE MORE AND CRINGE A BIT. I WONDER HOW LOUD AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IS? VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 31,700 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO INFORMED THAT THE BALL JOINT SEPARATED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V288000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN EXPECTED DATE THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,900.
THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT ADJUSTER BRACKET HAS FAILED. THE RIGHT REAR BRACKET HAS BROKEN FREE FROM THE REST OF THE SEAT. THE SEAT CAN NOW BE MANUALLY TILTED FORWARD. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SEAT WILL BECOME TOTALLY DISLODGED DURING OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. . *TR
LEFT DRIVER SIDE, UPPER BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM CONTROL ARM. WHEEL COLLAPSED OUTWARD. FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED AFTER LEAVING THE INTERSTATE DRIVING 70 MILES PER HOUR. ENTERING SERVICE STATION WHEEL COLLAPSED. HAPPENED TO TALK TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. INDIVIDUAL SAID THAT THIS IS A CURRENT AND ON GOING PROBLEM WITH TODAY'S VEHICLES. THE FRONT COMPONENTS ARE BEING DESIGNED SO THEY CANNOT BE MAINTAINED PROPERLY. LACK OF GREASE FITTINGS, PRESSED IN JOINT DESIGN ON BALL JOINTS TO CONTROL ARM , INSTEAD OF RE ENFORCED WITH BOLTS OR OTHER SAFE MEASURES. INDIVIDUAL STATED THAT IT IS OCCURRING ON MOST ALL MAKES AND MODELS. INSTEAD OF JUST REPLACING THE DEFECTED BALL JOINT, THE CONTROL ARM, WITH NO OTHER DEFECT, BUT THIS, HAS TO BE REPLACED, COSTING EVEN MORE MONEY. HAS BEEN REPORTED, THAT DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED. THE MENTAL IMPACT AND FEELING INSECURE AFTER A FIX IS ONGOING. I SEE MORE DEATHS AND ACCIDENTS OCCURRING BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR

SHE HAS NOT EXPERIENCED ANY FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.- LL

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 100,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE SUPPORT STRAPS FOR THE FUEL TANK FAILED SUDDENLY AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE FUEL TANK CONTACTED THE ROAD SURFACE FOR A SHORT TIME (1 MINUTE) BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE STOPPED. THE REAR CORNER OF THE TANK (PASSENGER SIDE) WAS DAMAGED TO THE POINT THAT FUEL LEAKED FROM THE TANK. BOTH SUPPORT STRAPS WERE BROKEN AFTER THE INCIDENT. THE TANK WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 FULL PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. BOTH OF THE SUPPORT STRAPS FAILED NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK. THE REMAINING PIECES OF THE SUPPORT STRAPS WERE STILL FASTENED TO THE FRAME AND THE FASTENERS WERE STILL IN PLACE AFTER THE INCIDENT. BOTH SUPPORT STRAPS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. ALTHOUGH WE ARE DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT NO ONE WAS HURT. WE REALIZE THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE AC ON AND WITHOUT STOPPING, THE BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED ON. THE BATTERY LIGHT WENT OUT WHEN VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND/OR IDLING. ALL INFORMATION STEERS TOWARDS THE PCM MODULE AND NOT THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR. *TR
REAR WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE BROKEN 4 TIMES, FIX IS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. DEALER TOLD US JEEP USES INFERIOR PLASTIC PARTS AND REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED ERRONEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE TOP OF THE WHEEL WAS ABNORMALLY TILTED INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE UPPER CONTROL BALL JOINT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 191,000.
HEADLIGHTS BEGIN TO FLICKER OFF AND ON THEN THEY GO OUT FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK NEEDLESS TO SAY. THEN COME BACK, THEN CONTINUE TO FLICKER OFF AND ON NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE STAYING ON FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND IS NOT SAFE FOR NO ONE. A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE FOR JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER LOOKING UP THE PROBLEM ON HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NONE OF THE RECALLS ARE BEING FIXED I HAVE BEEN TO JEEP PLACE IN CLAREMONT NH AND IN SPRINGFIELD VT AND ALL THEY CAN SAY IS WE DONT HAVE THE PARTS FOR IT NOW HOW SAFE AM I SURPOSE TO FEEL WHEN THEY SELL THESE VEC AND DONT FIX THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED AN INJURED LEFT SHOULDER THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED. OIL CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND NOW OIL IS LEAKING INTO THE ANTIFREEZE. MECHANIC SAID IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THESE JEEPS ARE JUNK. OBVIOUSLY THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. *TR
JUNE 26,2013 I HEARD A BEEP FROM DASH THINKING IT WAS LETTING ME KNOW I AM LOW ON WASH FLUID THOUGH I NOTICED MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON .A MINUTE LATER WHILE DRIVING IT WENT OFF, AS OF TODAY IT TURNS ON FOR A MIN THAN BACK OFF. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ABOUT THE AIRBAG ISSUES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT IT AGAIN, I GOT A RESPONSE THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS TO COME IN ,THIS BEEN MONTHS AGO. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE, ARMS AND CHEST. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE DISABLED THE SEAT BELT, WHICH WOULD NOT LONGER RETRACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 108,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT IT USED 5 YEARS AGO. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING MY SON AND TWO OF HIS FRIENDS HOME FROM THE BEACH. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN SUDDENLY THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, STAYED ON FOR A MINUTE OR SO, WENT OUT, THEN BLINKED A FEW TIMES. I GOT A CREEPY FEELING AND DECIDED TO DO A SEARCH. I AM GLAD I DID. I CAN'T BELIEVE CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECALLED THESE JEEPS, I THINK THEY ARE GOING TO BE PAYING A LOT MORE IN PI CLAIMS THAN IT WOULD COST TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO USE MY CAR!!! I CALLED HALL JEEP HERE IN VIRGINIA BEACH AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN SO THEY COULD DO AN ELECTRICAL CHECK ON THE VEHICLE. [XXX], THE GIRL I SPOKE WITH IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT UP THERE. I TOLD HER I WAS AFRAID TO AFTER READING ABOUT THE INJURIES THAT HAVE BEEN INCURRED WHEN THE DRIVER AND SOMETIMES PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOY FOR NO REASON. I AM 5'2" TALL AND MUST SIT CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL, INCREASING THE CHANCE OF INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT DURING RUSH HOUR AT ~4:20PM WAITING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY (SAN FELIPE AND FEEDER ROAD OF 610 / HOUSTON, TX). MY A/C WAS RUNNING BUT THE RADIO WAS OFF. I HEARD THE WARNING CHIME FROM THE DASH BOARD AND NOTICED MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAD COME ON. BREAKAGE OF THE REAR FRAME RAIL IS PENDING DUE TO RUST HOLE, WOULD LIKELY CAUSE A SPONTANEOUS LOSS OF STEERING, INJURY OR DEATH. JEEP IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
