SINCE NOVEMBER, THE DEALER IN HER AREA STATED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW SOON THEY'LL RECEIVE THE PARTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 55,000.
2003 JEEP LIBERTY UPPER BALL JOINT FAILURE (PASSENGER SIDE) - BALL JOINT CORRODED AND THE BALL PULLED OUT OF THE SOCKET DURING A LEFT TURN - WHEEL FELL OUTWARD AND LAID DOWN WITH VEHICLE RESTING ON THE TIRE VEHICLE IS AT DEALER - AWAITING WORD ON PROPOSED REMEDY THIS FAILURE IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED ON A RECALL FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS!
WE HAVE A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE BALL JOINTS. THE DEALERSHIP IS INFORMING HER THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS ARE IN BACK ORDER. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE THE CLIENT HAS HEARD FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO GOT HIT WITH AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR BILL ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM DUE TO CORROSION - VEHICLE HAS ONLY 32,000 MILES ON IT. *JB
BACK IN MARCH, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER REGARDING THE LOWER BALL JOINTS IN MY JEEP. STEERING CAN FAIL CAUSING A CRASH. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD I WAS 80TH ON THEIR WAITING LIST. I CALLED IN MAY AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET TO ME SOMETIME IN JULY!! TODAY IS AUGUST 1 AND MY RECALL IS STILL NOT FIXED. THEY BLAME THE JEEP CORP FOR NOT PROVIDING ENOUGH PARTS TO FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH AND MAKING A TURN THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THEY WERE IN THE 20% RANGE ON THE WAITING LIST. THE GRINDING SOUND OCCURRED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED DUE TO RECALL# 06V288000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,251. *AK
MY WIFE OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY CAR WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR ON A HILL./INCLINE. FOUND THAT CHRYSLER LIED ABOUT THE RARE EMERGENCY BRAKE BEING SELF ADJUSTING. WE FOUND AFTER REMOVAL OF THE DRUM THAT THE BRAKE IS NOT SELF ADJUSTING. THE BRAKE NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED EVERYTIME AT THE DEALER. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND HAS HID THIS ITEMS FROM THE CONSUMER. EVEN AUTO PARTS SHOP KNOW OF THIS AND SELL AN ADJUSTING TOOL THE ADJUSTMENT NEEDS TO BE MADE FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR THROUGH A PORT ON THE INSIDE BRAKE HUB ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT IF IN A CRISIS THE EMERGENCY BRAKES NEEDS TO BE DEPLOYED IT WILL FAIL AND A SEVERE OUTCOME IS EVIDENT. THERE IS NO WAY A CONSUMER CAN GET UNDER THE CAR EVERYTIME TO MASK THIS ADJUSTMENT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE LAW TO HAVE A SELF ADJUSTING EMERGENCY BRAKE ON A VEHICLE. I AM SENDING THE DEALERSHIP A CERTIFIED LETTER REGARDING THIS IN CASE THERE IS AN UNFAVORABLE OUTCOME FROM AN EVENT DUE TO THIS SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE CORRECTION. DEALER ACTUALLY ALLOWED VEHICLE BACK ON HIGHWAY TO CONSUMER IN A NON WORKING CONDITION. *TR
DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS NOT FIXED THE SAFETY RECALL F23 - LOWER BALL JOINTS PROBLEM ON OUR 2003 JEEP LIBERTY VEHICLE. THE DEALER THEY REFERRED US TO NEVER CONTACTED US TO LET US KNOW THE PARTS HAD ARRIVED AND THAT WE COULD BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER HAS NOW MOVED OR GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. WE ARE WORRIED THAT THE SUV WILL MALFUNCTION AND CRASH WITHOUT THE REPAIRS. *JB

I HAVE A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY AND THE ELECTRIC WINDOW MOTORS HAVE GONE OUT 4 TIMES FROM 2007 TO PRESENT. 3 MOTOR/REGULATORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING IN THE REAR DRIVE WINDOW (THE ORIGINAL AND 2 REPLACEMENTS), AND NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR IS OUT. THE WINDOW JUST DROPS AND WILL ONLY MOVE MANUALLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY, WITH 36,000 MILES. IN A SPAN OF NINE MONTHS, MY TRANSMISSION HAS WENT OUT 3 TIMES. I DON'T HAUL ANYTHING WITH MY JEEP, NOR DO I DRIVE UPHILL. THE JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS CHOSEN TO EITHER REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION OR USE A REBUILT TRANSMISSION, IN SPIT OF MY CONSISTENT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CONSIST OF MY CAR NOT ABLE TO GO OVER 30 MPH, THE RPMS SHOOT UP TO 6 OR 7 AND WILL NOT COME DOWN, AND WHEN I TRY TO GO FASTER THAN 30 THE CAR JERKS AND SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING. *NM
'03 JEEP LIBERTY - LEFT LOWER FRONT BALL JOINT FAILED AND SEPARATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT LOW SPEED DURING A TURN (LEFT UPPER BALL JOINT FAILED PREVIOUSLY REF. COMPLAINT CONFIRMATION #1019828). LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED TWICE BEFORE UNDER RECALL #C36. THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINTS UNDER RECALL #F23, ALONG WITH THE AXLE HALF SHAFT, AXLE DRIVE SHAFT SEAL, AXLE SHAFT SEAL HOUSING, TIRE AND WHEEL. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT IT WAS TAKING THEM TO MAKE THE SAFETY REPAIRS ON THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE NOVEMBER. SHE ASKED FOR A RENTAL CAR WHILE WAITING FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE MADE, AND WAS DENIED, AND DID NOT BELIEVE THAT WAS FAIR. THE CONTACT HEARD NOISES COMING FROM THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE POOR, IT WAS WET. HAVE BEEN WET. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67250. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURES TO DATE.*AK
CHAMPION CHRYSLER-JEEP INC SAFETY RECALL F23 CUSTOMER IS VERY UPSET THAT AFTER GETTING RECALL FIXED THAT SHE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE UPPER BALL JOINTS**CC THE DEALER STATED THE REAR RIGHT SEATBELT DOES NOT LATCH AND THE LEFT RIGHT POWER WINDOW DOES NOT WORK. THE CONSUMER HAS PROVIDED THE INVOICES FOR REPAIR. UPDATE *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY WHICH HAD BEEN RECALLED. A CRASH OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY BALL JOINT ON THE VEHICLE. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2007 THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WAS A CLOUDY BUT DRY DAY AND WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE, IT BEGAN TO MOVE LEFT TO RIGHT AND THE VEHICLE MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN CROSSING INTO THE LEFT LANE, ULTIMATELY STRIKING THE LEFT GUARD RAIL ON THE RAMP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP THAT CHRYSLER RECOMMENDED. AN INVESTIGATOR FOR CHRYSLER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND REPORTED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A LOOSE BALL JOINT, BUT THE CONTACT BELIEVED IT WAS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 55,000. *AK CONSUMER STATES SHE BELIEVES THAT A LOSS OF LUBRICATION WHICH LEAD TO CORROSION, ACCELERATED WEAR AND SEPARATION FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE IN WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF JEEPS DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. I HAD A SAFETY RECALL FROM DAIMLERCHRYSLER (SAFETY RECALL F23 - LOWER BALL JOINTS). I KEEP TRYING TO GET MY CAR SERVICED FROM LARRY H. MILLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (801-553-5550), BUT EACH TIME I GET A SHORT ANSWER THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AND WILL CALL ME BACK. I STARTED THIS PROCESS IN FEBRUARY. THANKS, BRANDON *TR
I OWN A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN SEPTEMBER 2006. THE RECALL STATES OF THE IMPORTANCE OF REPLACING THE BALL JOINTS. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DEALERS CAN'T GET THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN ON A "WAITING LIST" FOR SEVERAL WEEKS NOW, AND STILL AM ABOUT THE 40TH PERSON DOWN THE LIST TO HAVE THIS SERVICE PERFORMED. THE RECALL STATES THAT A CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. I REALIZE NOT ALL VEHICLES MAY BE AFFECTED, BUT HOW DO WE KNOW IF OUR VEHICLE IS SAFE? I COULD UNDERSTAND A FEW DAYS OR A COUPLE OF WEEKS TO ORDER A PART, BUT THE LONGER IT TAKES, THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE PUTS MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY, AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS TAKING SO LONG ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT MATTER. IT COULD TAKE MONTHS FOR MY DEALER TO FIX MY VEHICLE, AND I AM SURE THERE IS A LONG LIST AFTER MY NAME. EVENING NB ON I-15, SEMI IN THE WAY, 2003 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4, SWERVE TO LEFT TO AVOID TRUCK, BACK TO RIGHT TO AVOID CAR IN LANE, VEHICLE DOVE DOWN ON LEFT FRONT WHEEL AND WENT END OVER END, THEN 3 COMPLETE ROLLS SIDE TO SIDE. AFTER 45 MINUTES I WAS CUT OUT OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FROM CANTON, NY TO CORNING, NY. AT APPROXIMATELY 3:15 PM ON FEB 2ND I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE BALL-JOINT. THE SUSPENSION CAUGHT ON THE RIM OF THE TIRE AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET THE CAR MOST OF THE WAY OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AFTER THAT. I HAD TO CALL A TOW-TRUCK AND HE WAS ABLE TO DRAG THE JEEP ONTO A FLAT-BED AND TRANSPORT THE JEEP TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER WAS OUTSTANDING(PETER KOCH IN SENECA FALLS, NY)! THEY HAD AN EMERGENCY SET OF BALL-JOINTS AND WERE ABLE TO FIX MY CAR THAT AFTERNOON. THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT RIM WAS RUINED AND THE DEALER INSTRUCTED ME TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE DEALER USED THE SPARE RIM DURING THE REPAIR. MY CONCERN IS THAT 15 MINUTES EARLIER I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE NY STATE THROUGH WAY AND CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THIS JOINT FAILED AT 65 MILE PER HOUR. I HAVE BEEN ON THE WAITING LIST AT MY LOCAL DEALER FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS AND MAY BE EVEN 6 MONTHS FOR THIS RECALL REPAIR! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I CHECKED WITH MY LOCAL DEALER THIS MORNING AND I AM NUMBER 31 ON THE RECALL LIST - THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY RECEIVE BETWEEN ZERO AND 3 SETS PER WEEK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. JEEP SHOULD STOP PRODUCING NEW VEHICLES UNTIL THIS POTENTIAL LIFE-THREATENING DEFECT HAS BEEN FIXED IN THE JEEPS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRODUCED. I HAVE SEEN THIS DEFECT DESCRIBED AS A LOOSENING OF THE BALL-JOINT. I BELIEVE THAT TO BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. THIS PART FAILS AND THE RESULT OF A FAILURE CAN BE CATASTROPHIC. *JB
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY ABOUT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON JEEP LIBERTY'S. I CALLED MY DEALER IN ORDER TO HAVE THE DEFECT CORRECTED AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS "PUT ON THE LIST." IT IS NOW AUGUST AND I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED A CALL BACK TO GET THE DEFECT CORRECTED. I CALLED TO ASK THE DEALERSHIP IF THEY COULD GIVE ME A TIME FRAME ON HOW LONG IT WOULD BE BEFORE I GOT MY JEEP FIXED AND THEY SAID "IT IS A LONG LIST, YOU WILL BE CALLED. CHRYSLER ONLY SENDS US TWO REPLACEMENT PARTS A WEEK." *TR

I WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A SPEED OF 30 MPH AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR LURCHED FAR ENOUGH FORWARD TO HIT THE BUMPER OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS THE SECOND OF TWO OCCURRENCES. THE FIRST WAS SIMILAR IN NATURE. I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY AFTER HAVING THE SPEED CONTROL ACTIVATED. I WAS COMING TO A STOP-THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY ACCELERATED AND LURCHED UNEXPECTEDLY INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY, NO OTHER CAR WAS PRESENT. AGAIN, I PRESSED AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I QUICKLY CHANGE TO NEUTRAL, WHERE THE ENGINE RAPIDLY REVVED TO OVER 6,000R PM'S. I AM NOT SURE WHAT I DID TO FINALLY MAKE IT STOP-TO FRIGHTENED TO REMEMBER!*JB
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AT THE END OF DECEMBER AND I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE LOCAL DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VEHICLE TAKEN CARE. I CALLED THE END OF THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY AND WAS INFORMED BY THE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY NAME WOULD PUT ON THE LIST AND THE PARTS TO BE ORDERED SINCE THEY DID NOT HAVE THEM IN STOCK. THE PERSON PROCEEDED TO INFORM THAT IT WOULD TAKE AWHILE AND THAT I WOULD CONTACTED WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN AND AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED THEN. TODAY IS JANUARY 27TH AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN GETTING MY VEHICLE SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE. *NM

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE WOULD CALL HIM WHEN THE PART ARRIVED, BUT IT HAS BEEN OVER THREE WEEKS AND HE HAS NOT HEARD FROM THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAS NOT CALLED THE DEALER BACK. THE CONTACT HAS NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME. *AK
TL*-THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER WAS IN A CRASH WITH HER 2003 JEEP LIBERTY ON 01/27/07. THE AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY. HE STATED THAT EARLY THAT MORNING, ON A CLEAR DAY SHE CRASHED THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN HER DEATH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FROM THE PICTURES OF THE CRASH, THE WHEELS OF THE DRIVER SIDE LOOKED UNUSUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS ON RECALL, BUT HE WAS NOT SURE IF THE RECALL HAD BEEN REPAIRED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE INVESTIGATION TO BE COMPLETED. HE FELT THAT THE CRASH WAS DUE TO A FAILURE IN THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE HIS DAUGHTER CONSTANTLY COMPLAINED THAT THE TIRES AND BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING INCORRECTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER CONSTANTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP COMPLAINED ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT DO ANY REPAIRS WITHOUT THE CONTACT PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS.

I HAVE WENT TO THREE DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS IN ORDER TO GET MY LOWER BALL JOINT RECALL FIXED AND EACH DEALERSHIP HAS A WAITING LIST OF OVER 30 OR MORE PEOPLE. I HAVE TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGERS OF EACH ESTABLISHMENT AND THEY HAVE ALL EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY ARE ONLY SHIPPED THREE SETS OF LOWER BALL JOINTS A MONTH. I TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY AND NEED TO GET THIS REPAIRED BUT I AM UNABLE TO DO SO. ARE THEY WANTING SOMETHING SERIOUS TO HAPPEN BEFORE THIS IS REPAIRED OR WHAT. PLEASE HELP ME REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. *JB

THE CONTACT WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAS BEEN TRYING FOR OVER TWO MONTHS TO GET THE PART REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS 34,000 MILES AND HAS NOT CURRENTLY EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL LETTER 06V288000 A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE CONTACT HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR REPAIR ON 1/16/07. THE DEALER CALLED THE CONTACT AND TOLD HER THE PART DID NOT ARRIVE. THE CONTACT HAS NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS 30,930 MILES. I HAVE TWO ISSUES. THE FIRST BEING THAT I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. I CONTACTED THE DEALER ON NOV. 16, 2006 AND WAS ASKED FOR MY NAME, NUMBER, AND ADDRESS. THE MAN TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT IN STOCK AND HAD TO BE ORDERED WHICH MAY TAKE 4-5 WEEKS. HE SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT ME AS SOON AS THE PART CAME IN. IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS AND I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED. RECALLS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. IS THIS "SHORTAGE" OF PARTS REALLY THE PROBLEM OR IT MY LOCAL DEALER. MY SECOND ISSUE IS THAT OF THE FLOOR SHIFTER. THE LAST TWO TIMES I DROVE MY JEEP, IT REFUSED TO GO INTO PARK OR 1ST GEAR. I TRIED PRESSING HARDER ON THE BUTTON ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE SHIFTER, TURNING MY VEHICLE OFF, AND GIVING IT FORCE. THE FIRST TIME I ENDED UP DRIVING TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO COULDN'T GET IT INTO PARK AT FIRST EITHER, AFTER GIVING IT SOME FORCE IT WENT IN, HOWEVER HE SEEMED TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME TO "MAKE SURE I PRESS THE BUTTON IN WHEN TRYING TO PUT IT INTO PARK." IT HAPPENED THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN I WAS PARKING IN FRONT OF MY HOME. I STRUGGLED FOR 15 MINUTES, THEN DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK AND TRIED AGAIN. I WENT INTO PARK ALTHOUGH NOT SMOOTHLY. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALER TOMORROW. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE AND WOULD IT BE COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS NOT SENDING THE DEALERSHIP SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF PARTS TO REPAIR THE RECALLS. I'VE BEEN WAITING OVER A MONTH AND CALL PRACTICALLY EVERYDAY TO SEE IF A SHIPMENT OF THE "LOWER BALL JOINT" PARTS HAVE COME IN. MEANWHILE IT'S VERY UNSETTLING TO KNOW THAT MY STEERING CAN FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED AND CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD A REPAIR SHOP REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE. THE DEALER STATED THEN THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE NOT ABE TO BE COMPLETED BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME THE CONTACT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS), 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE) AND 15V046000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT WENT TO A SECOND DEALER AND THEY ALSO WERE NOT ABLE TO SUPPLY THE PART FOR THE THREE RECALL REPAIRS. WHILE PARKING IN THE GARAGE, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING BEFORE THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PUT BOTH ARMS UP AND THE FORCE OF THE AIR BAG IMPACTED THE CONTACT'S ARMS WITH BURNS AND PAINS IN THE SHOULDERS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION DUE TO THE MINOR INJURIES FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A WHITE SMOKE SUBSTANCE THAT EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT TO INVESTIGATE THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR LONGER THAN A MONTH DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS STILL WAITING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON A REMEDY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I FOLLOWED UP ON THIS THE FOLLOWING WEEK (12/27/06) AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT IN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE ANOTHER 1 TO 1 1/2 WEEKS. TO TOW MY CAR AND HAVE THE BALL JOINTS REPLACED, I WAS LEFT SHAKING UP BY THIS AND HAD IT BEEN A DAY EARLIER, MY DAUGHTER AND HER BABY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AS THEY TRAVELED AT NIGHT ON INTERSTATE 79 TO PITTSBURGH, THIS WAS VERY FRIGHTENING TO ME AS WELL AS MY DAUGHTER FOR WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL. I CALLED BRUNSWICK CHRYSLER ON 2060 ROUTE 130, MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ 08852 FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON NOVEMBER 2, 2006, AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL BACK IN 3 WEEKS BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE IN RESTRICTION. I CALLED BACK ON NOVEMBER 21, 2006, AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL BACK IN ANOTHER 3 WEEKS BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE IN RESTRICTION. IN MID DECEMBER, I CALLED BACK AND THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR DECEMBER 27, 2006. I LEFT MY CAR AT BRUNSWICK CHRYSLER FOR 6 HOURS BEFORE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS AND TO CALL BACK IN 3 WEEKS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. IN JANUARY 2007, I CALLED A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, GLOBAL AUTO MALL IN NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ. I AM STILL ON THE WAITING LIST. GLOBAL AUTO SAYS THEY ONLY RECEIVE 2-3 PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER A WEEK.
