I HAVE A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY AND I HAVE HAD THIS FRONT END SHAKING WHEN YOU GET UP TO 40 PLUS MPH AND THE FRONT TIRES SEEMS TO DRAG. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A CHRYSLER DEALER SHIP BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIRED BUT THE FLUSHED THE RADIATOR, CHANGED THE OIL AND CHARGED ME $372.00 AND I HAVE NOT FOUND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THIS 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER / MILEAGE ODOMETER HAVE INTERMITTENTLY STOPPED WORKING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE GOING OUT OF THE 36MO/36000 MILE WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, THERE OBVIOUSLY IS. THE FINAL TIME THEY WENT OUT WAS ON NOV 10TH WHILE WE WERE GOING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS OF TENNESSEE ON OUR WAY TO NC. IT HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. AFTER MUCH LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE DISCOVERED THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE IDENTICAL COMPLAINT ON THE 2001 THROUGH 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S. I THEN CALLED THE CHRYSLER CONSUMER HOTLINE AND THE FIRST PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING AND SAID THAT CHRYSLER WOULD BE ABLE TAKE CARE OF IT, HE THEN TRANSFERRED ME TO A SUPERVISOR TO HAVE THE REPAIRS AUTHORIZED AND THE SUPERVISOR WAS VERY RUDE AND SAID "CHRYSLER DIDN'T OWE ME ANYTHING, AND THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE". THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME AS A CONSUMER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SWERVING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FOR FIFTEEN SECONDS, BUT THEN IT BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,446 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TRANSMISSION HAD LONG DELAY BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE. EVENTUALLY GOT WORSE AND WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. DEALER SAID TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO TRANSFER CASE BROKEN AND JAMMED, NOT ALLOWING VEHICLE TO MOVE. HAD LIBERTY INTO SEE DEALER WEEK PRIOR TO CASE FAILING. DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG AFTER I STATED TO THEM THE LIBERTY FELT LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. COST WAS $ 4200.00 FOR REPLACEMENT OF TRANS AND TRANSFER CASE. *TR
POWER WINDOWS FAIL AND WINDOW SLIDES DOWN AND CANNOT BE BROUGHT BACK UP IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE WINDOW. HAVE HAD THREE OF MY WINDOWS FAIL IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY, ALL OF THEM NEEDING TO HAVE THE ENTIRE WINDOW REGULATOR AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED, COSTING OVER $500 IN EACH OF THE THREE TIME THAT THIS HAPPENED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30-40 MPH, THE LOWER BALL JOINTS MADE A THUMPING SOUND AND FELL FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. HER HUSBAND PLACED THE LOWER BALL JOINT BACK ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. SHE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND TOOK HER VEHICLE IN ON THE APPOINTED DATE AND TIME. SHE WAITED FOR ONE AND A HALF HOURS AND WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR A TIME WHEN SHE COULD LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS FINE FOR HER TO DRIVE HER VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING HOME, SHE HEARD A SPLASH AGAINST THE TIRE WHEEL. THE BOOT THAT HOLDS THE GREASE BUSTED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED IN FRONT OF HER HOME. THE PURCHASE DATE AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 82,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE REMOTE KEY WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK FAILED COMPLETELY. THE OTHER DOORS WERE ABLE TO BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SOLENOIDS FOR EACH DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V111000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 23,000.
2004 JEEP LIBERTY WITH RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD CALL HIM IN 6 -8 WEEKS WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. HE STATES HE HAS NOT HEARD FROM THEM AND HAS TRIED TO CONTACT THEM BUT NO ONE WILL HELP HIM. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED ON SEPT 11, 2007 WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *JB
I FOUND BACK WINDOW DROPPED INTO DOOR TWICE ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT GO UP. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DROPPED INTO DOOR ONCE ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT GO UP. FIRST TIME WAS JUNE 8, 2006. SECOND TIME WAS JUNE 20, 2007. THIRD TIME WAS SEPTEMBER 4, 2007. *JB
REPLACED HEAD GASKET, HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED ON 9/4/07. TOOK UNTIL 10/1/07 TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED. MY MECHANIC CALLED FOR PARTS AND WERE TOLD THEY WERE BACK ORDERED. WELL, WHEN I PICKED VEHICLE UP ON 10/2/07 I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE BEING SNATCHED UP DUE TO DEMAND ON THE JEEP LIBERTY (MINE'S AN '04) HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF THE HEAD GASKETS. MY CAR ONLY HAD 43,000 WHEN I PURCHASED USED/NEW 6/1/07. WHEN I PUT IN SHOP IT HAD 49,575 MILES. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT THE GASKET SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD FOR AT LEAST 100,000 MILES. *JB
2004 JEEP LIBERTY RECALL FOR LOWER BALL JOINT REPAIR. CUSTOMER STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP PLACED HER ON A WAITING LIST. CUSTOMER ALSO STATES THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ON THIS WAITING LIST SINCE MARCH 30, 2007. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINT FOR HER SPECIFIC VEHICLE BUT THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED AS OF YET DUE TO THE FACT THE DEALER DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED PURCHASED A NEW TIRE AND HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE NEW TIRE DID NOT HELP. THE CONSUMER STATED CONTACTED DEALER WHO INFORMED HER THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PART AS OF YET. THE CONSUMER FURTHER STATED CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER WHO WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER TO UPGRADE THE CONSUMERS ORDER. THE CONSUMER STATED WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER TO NO AVAIL. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING HELP WITH THE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOORS REFUSED TO LOCK, REGARDLESS OF MANUAL AND REMOTE ATTEMPTS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V111000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH). THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CONSUMER STATED TRIED SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS TO OBTAIN THE SNOW TIRES TO NO AVAIL WAS INFORMED BY DEALER IF ANY ALTERATIONS WERE MADE TO THE SIZE OF THE TIRE THE WARRANTY WILL BE NULL AND VOID. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL AND PULL OVER. SHE HEARD A LOUD THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. TRIPLE A REMOVED THE TIRE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 68,000.
WINDOW FALLS INTO DOOR & CANNOT BE CLOSED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON DIFFERENT WINDOWS. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY 3 MONTHS AGO FROM THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN ROCKVILLE, MD. THIS WEEK I GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL SAYING THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINTS, IMMEDIATELY AFTER READING THIS I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THIS FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACKUP AND WONT BE IN THE SHOP FOR A FEW MONTHS! THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN AND PROBLEM, I SHARE THIS VEHICLE WITH MY 21 YEAR OLD SISTER AND AM AFRAID OF OUR POWER STEERING GOING OUT ON US AND CAUSING A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. A FEW MONTHS IS WAY TOO LONG TO WAIT ON A RECALL AS SERIOUS AS THIS! I WOULD APPRECIATE HELP WITH THIS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. THANK YOU. *JB
MY DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS A SAFETY RECALL WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER OVER 12 MONTHS AGO, AND I'VE REGISTERED MY VEHICLE WITH BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, I'VE NOT RECEIVED ANY FOLLOW-UP SINCE THE REGISTRATION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTICE NUMBER 06V288000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT) TWO DAYS AGO. SHE CALLED NUMEROUS DEALERS, BUT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE RECALL NOTICE STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE 30 MINUTES TO COMPLETE, HOWEVER, WHEN SHE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER, THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE A 1/2 DAY TO A FULL DAY. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A RENTAL OR LOANER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
I HAVE ATTEMPTED 3 TIMES TO GET MY RECALL TAKEN CARE OF ON MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. EACH TIME SOMEONE HAS ASSURED ME THE PART WOULD BE ORDERED AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT CAME IN. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING TO DATE. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE PRIOR TO ME RECEIVING THE FIRST RECALL IN THE MAIL. *JB
2004 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT HAS LOSS OF POWER AND IS QUITTING CUSTOMER STATES THAT HE HAS HAD MULTIPLE PARTS FIXED AND REPLACED AND NOW THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME FAILURE PROBLEMS AS LAST YEAR. **NAR**KB THE CONSUMER HAS HAD 2 FUEL PUMPS REPLACED, A WIRING HARNESS IN THE FIREWALL, CRUISE CONTROL SENSOR REPLACED, THE ENTIRE MODULE REPLACED, BALL JOINT REPLACED AND NOW THE VEHICLE IS LOSING POWER AND QUITTING AGAIN. THE CONSUMER FURTHER STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER BOTH ARE GOING CRAZY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AFTER IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEEMED AS DESTROYED AND WOULD NOT PERFORM ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT ONLY NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE REMAINED DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND MADE A THUD NOISE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,917.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING BEGAN TO FAIL. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE LOWER BALL JOINT RECALL REPAIRED IN MARCH OF 2007. SHE ALSO RECEIVED AN F23 RECALL LETTER ON JULY 24, 2007. THE JEEP DEALER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PARTS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE RISK INVOLVED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON ENTRANCE RAMP TO HIGHWAY. VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT, ENDED UP COMING TO A STOP FACING ON COMING TRAFFIC. DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, COMPONENTS INVOLVED IN PREVIOUS RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 38 MPH, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND DROVE INTO A DITCH. SHE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND CRASHED INTO A DRAIN PIPE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER BELIEVED THAT A FAILED AXLE CAUSED THE CRASH. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER DUE TO CRASHING INTO THE DRAIN PIPE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN WRIST. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 06V288000) ONE MONTH AFTER THE CRASH. THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 99,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO PLACE IT BACK IN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOUR YEARS AFTER THE PREVIOUS FAILURE OCCURRED. TRANSMISSION WENT AT ROUGHLY 35,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 70,000 MILES AND THEN AGAIN AT 120,000 MILES FIRST 2 TIMES I WAS DRIVING SLOW IN TOWN THE THIRD TIME I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT! *TR
NO WARNING. EFECT AS DESCRIBED BY DEALER INVOLVED A DEFECTIVE BCM, BODY CONTROL MODULE. PEEDOMETER, HEADLIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, WIPERS, POWER WINDOWS, AIR CONDITIONING WOULD NOT WORK. REAR GLASS HATCH OPENED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE/LATCH. *AK
ALL 4 WHEEL BRAKES WERR BAD, $600 BAD. I NEVER HEARD ANY SQUEALING, PULSING, ANYTHING INDICATING THE BRAKES WERE GOING, INSPECTION PEOPLE ALL SAID THEY SEEMED OKAY. I DECIDED TO BRING IT IN TO A NON-DEALER DUE TO HAVING 48000 ON THE OEM PADS. PADS WERE SHOT, ROTORS SCORED, ETC. $600 LATER, ALL SEEMED OKAY ANYONE ELSE NOT HAVE ANY INDICATORS OF BRAKES GOING BAD? *AK
WEDNESDAY JUNE 6TH, I GOT A FLAT TIRE. I CALLED MY BOYFRIEND TO HELP CHANGE THE TIRE. I HAD NEVER GOTTEN A FLAT TIRE BEFORE. THE INSTANT HE HAD THE NEW TIRE ON THE WHEEL, THE JACK BENT 45 DEGREES TO THE SIDE AND THE JEEP FELL TO THE GROUND. SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. THE JACK HAD NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE. THE METAL OF THE JACK BENT SIDEWAYS DURING NORMAL USE. THIS INDICATED THAT THE JACK EITHER WA S DEFECTIVE OR IT WAS MADE OF A SUBSTANCE THAT DEGRADED OVER THREE YEARS. I COMPLAINED TO THE DAIMLER/CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE FOR CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE JACK BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS WAS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. APPARENTLY, THEY WERE UNCONCERNED. *AK
I HAD A VERY SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT WHERE THE 2004 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AFTER SWERVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 68 MPH. THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF IN THIS KIND OF CRASH. THERE WAS NO FRONT IMPACT. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WHICH DID NOT GO OFF. I WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT THEY DID NOT GO OFF IN THIS KIND OF IMPACT WHEN THERE WAS CLEAR IMPACT ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS , BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSANGER SIDE DOOR WINDOWS SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TOTALED. I BELIEVE THERE WAS ADDITIONAL BRUISING AND HEAD IMPACT OF THE DRIVER AND PASSANGER DUE THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS NOT GOING OFF.*AK
ON APRIL 12 THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A RECALL PART TO BE REPLACED WHICH IT HAD BEEN. UPON LEAVING THE SHOP THEY WENT OVER THE VEHICLE AND GAVE IT A REPORT CARD BASICALLY AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS IN TIP TOP SHAPE WHEN IT LEFT. A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AFTER WE GOT IT OUT WE WERE DRIVING AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN WE STARTED TO GO AGAIN WE NOTICED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WE DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL WE GOT UP THE ROAD ABOUT 2 MILES AND STOPPED AT ANOTHER TRAFFIC LIGHT AND NOTICED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE APPEARED TO BE SMOKING. WE HAPPENED TO BE RIGHT NEXT TO A GAS STATION SO WE PULLED OVER AND PUT WATER ON THE TIRE TO COOL IT OFF SINCE IT WAS SO DARN HOT. WE WAITED ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND THEN DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME WHICH WAS ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY. WHEN WE LEFT IT STILL WAS GRINDING. WE WAITED A FEW DAYS AND THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE JUST RUSTED OVER, AND THEN DROVE IT AGAIN. IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MAKE THE GRINDING SOUND EXCEPT EVERY SO OFTEN SO WE KIND OF WROTE IT OFF. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF THIS OFF AND ON GRINDING WE DECIDED ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH AND WE WERE NOW GOING TO HAVE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. AFTER TALKING TO ABOUT 4 RANDOM OTHER LIBERTY OWNERS IN DIFFERENT PARKING LOTS, 3 OUT OF THE 4 I TALKED TO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM I DO. SO IT IS VERY APPARENT TO ME THAT JEEP HAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE PART IF 4 OUT OF 5 LIBERTY'S INCLUDING MINE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITHIN AS LITTLE AS 6 MONTHS OF A BRAND NEW LIBERTY FOR ONE OWNER AND JUST ABOUT ALL WITHIN 40,000 MILES. THIS DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT FOR US, BUT IF THAT ONE BRAKE HAD REALLY LOCKED UP ON THE HIGHWAY THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A SPIN AND MAYBE EVEN ROLL OVER. WE ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THIS FIXED AND WE NEED TO REPLACE THE PISTONS IN THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE WITH POSSIBLY EVEN HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE BRAKE ASSEMBLY. *AK

NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT PROBLEM BECAUSE OF WARRANTY BUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE EXACT VEHICLE BACK IN AUG OF 2005 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE JEEP LIBERTY IS HAVING RIGHT NOW, THERE WAS OVER 800,000 RECALLS FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEREWAS A FOUR PAGE WAITING LIST, AND WAS UNABLE TO GIVE THE CONTACT AN ESTIMATED TIME FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. I BOUGHT A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY IN AUGUST 2006 WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT, FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT I COMPLAINED OF BAD SHIFTING. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM, WITH THE LAST TIME ON APRIL 2, 2007 WHEN THEY FINALLY PULLED THE PAN AND FOUND BRASS SHAVINGS! LOST CONTROL OF MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY AFTER A ROAD SHIFT THAT SENT THE SUV IN A TIZZY ON TWO WHEELS UNTIL I FINALLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM MY DEALER AS TO WHEN THIS IS GOING TO BE FIXED OR INSTALLED ON THE RECALL. WONDERING IF THE TWO ARE RELATED??? HE HAS CALLED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAS YET TO CALL HIM BACK REGARDING AN APPOINTMENT. TWO WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY JEEP LIBERTY FAILED AND THE WINDOWS DROPPED. IT HAPPENED DURING A RAINSTORM AND I NEARLY DROVE OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH BECAUSE OF IT. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS. THE WINDOWS JUST DROPPED. I HAD TO PUT A PERMANENT SUPPORT IN PLACE TO PREVENT THE WINDOW FROM FALLING. RECEIVED A RECALL FOR JEEP LIBERTY FOR LOWER BALL JOINT, ON THE RECALL IT STATES "THIS CAN CAUSE THE BALL JOINT TO CORRODE AND SEPARATE. BALL JOINT SEPARATION CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING." I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE PARTS ARE ON 3-6 MONTH BACK ORDER. MY VEHICLE, A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY, HAS BEEN SAFETY RECALLED (F23) FOR LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACEMENT. ALTHOUGH I HAD HEARD OF THE RECALL IN FALL OF 2006 MY DEALER WOULD NOT TAKE ACTION UNTIL I RECEIVED FORMAL NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL WHICH I RECEIVED IN EARLY JANUARY 2007. SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE I CONTACTED MY DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT PARTS WERE ON ORDER AND NOT EXPECTED FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. MY NAME WAS ADDED TO A WAIT LIST. I CONTACTED THE DEALER TODAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 2007. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE TIME TO CORRECT WHAT DAIMLERCHRYSLER CHARACTERIZES AS A CONDITION THAT "CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND CAN CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING". THEY NEW OF THIS RECALL FOR MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FORMAL NOTIFICATION. THEIR FAILURE TO EVALUATE AND SUPPLY THE APPROPRIATE PARTS FOR THIS RECALL IS NEGLIGENT AND UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE TO WAIT 6 WEEKS TO GET THE PARTS TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY DEFECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS CALLED THAT MORNING AND THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED HIM THAT THE BALL JOINTS FOR HIS VEHICLE WERE NOT IN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS HAS TAKEN TOO LONG FOR THE REPAIRS.
