2004 JEEP LIBERTY. 3 FAILED WINDOW REGULATORS/ MOTORS. MANY COMPLAINTS FOR SAME ISSUE ON OTHER YEARS. RECALLS ISSUED BUT NOT FOR 2004 DESPITE MANY COMPLAINTS
SEAT BELT ON DRIVER SIDE WILL NOT LOCK ANYMORE. *TR
I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT EWALD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE LLC IN FRANKLIN WIS TO ADDRESS SAFETY RECALL N46/NHTSA 13V-252. MY VEHICLE ORIGINALLY CAME WITH THE TOW PACKAGE AND A FACTORY INSTALLED HITCH. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED THE FACTORY HITCH WOULD BE INSPECTED AND THE TWO MOST REARWARD MOUNTING BOLTS WOULD BE REPLACED. THE DEALER DID NOT REPLACE THE BOLTS AND SAID THAT WOULD ONLY BE DONE "IF NECESSARY". AS THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT THE BOLTS WOULD BE REPLACED AND SAYS NOTHING REGARDING "IF NECESSARY" I AM WONDERING IF THIS RECALL WAS PERFORMED ADEQUATELY. *TR
I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR THE TRAILER HITCH RECALL 2 YEARS AGO. I HAVE BEEN CONTINUOUSLY TOLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. LAST TUESDAY 12-16 I FORCED THE ISSUE WITH THE DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR FRIDAY 12-19. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD I DON'T QUALIFY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS SOME CORROSION. IF THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN, I WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WAY FOR JEEP TO SHIRK ITS OBLIGATIONS. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE LEFT LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED AND DESTROYED ITSELF, THE LEFT UPPER CONTROL ARM,THE LEFT CV JOINT AND THE ALIGNMENT. HAD WE BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER A PREVIOUS RECALL HOWEVER WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS AT THE TIME WE PURCHASE THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL HAS BEEN CLOSED WITH NO RECOURSE FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIRS DONE AND NO RECOURSE TO HAVE THE OTHER SIDE REPAIRED. THIS VEHICLE IS GIVING ME A BUNCH OF PROBLEM IN THE SUSPENSION, THE FIRST PROBLEM IS WITH THE FRONT WHEEL BALL JOINTS WHICH IS A RECALL, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED YEARS AGO BUT HOW CAN IT BE FIXED AND STILL DEFECTIVE? THEY ACCEPT THE CONDITION AND WERE WILLING TO REPAIR BUT ONLY THE LOWER BALL JOINTS BUT THEY SAID I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WHICH IS OVER $1000, I DID NOT DO IT AND THE CAR DRIVES VERY UNSAFE, THERE IS A HEAVY VIBRATION IN THE WHEEL WHEN DRIVING OVER 30 MILES, ALSO THE BACK TIRES GOT WORN OUT EVERY 2 MONTHS AND I HAVE TO CHANGE THEM AND THEY SAID WILL CALL ME WHEN THE PART FROM THE FUEL TANK WILL BE AVAILABLE TO CHANGE IT BUT HASN'T HAPPEN YET IN MORE THAN 5 MONTHS. *TR
THE GAS CONSISTENTLY OVERFLOWS IN THIS VEHICLE WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK. IT'S LIKE THERE IS NO SAFETY STOP TO KEEP THE GAS FROM FILLING. IT ENDS UP GUSHING ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND WHEN I TRY TO FILL UP THE TANK. I NEVER LET THE TANK FILL AUTOMATICALLY AT THE PUMP. I WATCH THE GALLONS METER AS I'M PUMPING THE GAS TO ESTIMATE WHEN TO STOP PUMPING GAS BUT IT IS STILL VERY UNPREDICTABLE. EVEN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND SMOKING VERY HEAVILY WHEN I GOT HOME. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED NOW AS I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AND CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT. THE DISTANCE FROM WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED UP TO MY HOUSE IS 1 (ONE) MILE. *TR
VEHICLE VIBRATES AT ANY SPEED AND WORSENS UPON BRAKING. HAVE HAD ALIGNMENT DONE 3 TIMES AND ALIGNMENT KEEPS FAILING. TIRES ARE ALL NEW. HAVE HAD THE CAMBER AND CASTERS REPLACED IN FRONT, DID NOT HELP VIBRATION. BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, VIBRATION PERSISTS. VIBRATION IS SO POWERFUL UPON BRAKING THAT STERRING WHEEL BOUNCES OUT OF MY HANDS. THE VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE A FLAT TIRE. *TR
CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON THIS JEEP OVER FUEL TANK FIRES, I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALER TWICE (JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE CITY, 631 WEST PUTNAM AVE, GREENWICH, CT 06830 ON OCT 25TH AND NOV 17TH) (I MADE APPOINTMENT AT LEAST TWO WEEKS EARLIER IN BOTH TIMES), BUT WERE TOLD THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE BRAKES SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE INSTALLING AN OEM TOWING HITCH, AS DIRECTED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE), AN UNKNOWN COMPONENT CONNECTED TO THE TOWING ASSEMBLY BECAME FRACTURED AND PREVENTED THE RECALL REPAIR FROM BEING ABLE TO BE PERFORMED SUCCESSFULLY. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT WERE CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,801.
TWO OCCUPANTS IN CAR DRIVING 2004 LIBERTY LIMITED ON CITY STREET, HEARD LOUD POPPING NOISE AND REAR OF CAR BEGAN FISHTAILING UNCONTROLLABLY LIKE IT WAS ON ICE. PULLED CAR OFF OF ROAD AND CAR WAS TOWED TO INDEPENDENT DEALER. INSPECTION BY MECHANIC REVEALED THAT LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED COMPLETELY THROUGH DUE TO CORROSION AND RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM WAS ALMOST CORRODED THROUGH. PICTURES SHOW THAT THE PART THE CONTROL ARM IS ATTACHED TO HAS LITTLE OR NO CORROSION. WIFE CONTACTED CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER. REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT VIRGINIA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. WASHINGTON, DC AND WEST VIRGINIA ARE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WASHINGTON DC IS ONLY 15 MILES FROM WHERE THE CAR IS KEPT IN VIRGINIA. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE THAT VIRGINIA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CONTACTED CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER AGAIN AND THEY WILL BE SENDING AN INSPECTOR OUT TO EXAMINE THE FAILURE. RECALL REPRESENTATIVE SEEMED VERY CONCERNED THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR DIFFICULTY IN HANDLING BEFORE THIS FAILURE OCCURRED. MOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT OUTCOME AT BELTWAY SPEEDS. *TR
TOOK JEEP TO DEALER (10,23,2014) FOR RECALL TO HAVE A TRAILER HITCH INSTALLED, STILL WAITING FOR PART TO BE SHIPPED TO DEALER. OVER THREE AND ONE HALF MONTHS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. *TR
RECENTLY I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT ONLY 3% OF RECALLS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. FYI. ON 10/22/ 14 I CALLED SEA VIEW JEEP IN OCEAN, NJ FOR RECALL REPAIR. I WAS TOLD SINCE I DIDN'T BUY MY JEEP FROM THEM I WOULD BE PUT ON A LIST AS THEY WERE DOING REPAIRS THEIR CUSTOMERS FIRST. THINKING, I CALLED CHRYSLER CORP.ON 10/23/14 AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] WHO MADE A 3 WAY CALL TO SEA VIEW AND CONFIRMED MY CONVERSATION THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BE PUT ON A LIST. [XXX], FROM CHRYSLER CORP, SET UP AN APPOINT WITH ANOTHER DEALER WHO ACCOMMODATED ME VERY WELL. STILL BEING ON SEA VIEW LIST SINCE 10/22/14, I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED. I BEING A SENIOR CITIZEN LIVING ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND A VERY SMALL PENSION, BRING THIS INCIDENT TO YOUR ATTENTION IN THE EVENT THERE IS A WHISTLE BLOWER REWARD DUE ME OR AT LEAST A REWARD FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION. ALL PROBLEMS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS NO MORE THAN 15/20 MILES PER HOUR, I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. 1) SINCE OCTOBER (DO NOT RECALL DATE) THE FISHTAILING HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES LIKE IT WAS ON ICE. 2) ONCE SLID TO THE LEFT ALMOST 1/2 CIRCLE; 3) SPINNING AND NOT ADVANCING/GOING FORWARD HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES EVEN BEFORE THE FIRST FISHTAILING INCIDENT (FOR A FEW YEARS NOW) AND IT HAPPENS GOING UP A HILL OR WHEN TRYING TO GO FORWARD AFTER STOPPING ON STOP/LIGHT, THE TIRES SPINS. *TR

THE SWING GATE FAILS TO OPEN, THE WINDOW WILL POP UP BUT THE GATE WILL NOT RELEASE AT ALL. THE SWING GATE ONLY ALLOWS FOR A KEYLESS ENTRY. WOULD THIS FALL UNDER RECALL NO.D09? I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS ONLINE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, WHEN I TRIED TO RESEARCHING FOR A FIX. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

I RECEIVED TWO SAFETY RECALL NOTICES FOR MY CAR. MY CHRYSLER DEALER WILL NOT MAKE THE SAFETY FIX. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY DO NOT RECEIVE ENOUGH TRAILER HITCHES FOR ALL THE CARS NEEDING THE SAFETY FIX. WHY BOTHER SENDING ME A NOTICE TO HAVE MY CAR MADE SAFE WHEN CHRYSLER WILL NOT MAKE THERE CARS SAFE? I AM DO NOT THINK CHRYSLER OR YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE'S SAFETY. IT SEEMS CHRYSLER AND YOU JUST TALK AND NO ACTION BECAUSE...MY GUESS...THIS INACTION SAVES MANY PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY. THE SAD PART OF THE WHOLE THING NO ONE CARES. *TR

THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY COMPLAINT IS WITH THE CHRYSLER RECALL N46/NHSTA 13V-252. I RECEIVED TWO (2) RECALLS -ONE LAST DEC. 2013 AND IN AUGUST 2014 FOR THE REAR STRUCTURE REINFORCEMENT. I CALLED 2JEEP/CHRYSLER DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE ONLY PROVIDED 5 TRAILER HITCHES AND HAD A WAITING LIST OF 55. I WAS TOLD TO CALL BACK IN MID-SEPTEMBER. THIS RECALL IS A JOKE. I CALLED CHRYSLER RECALL ASST. CENTER AND SPOKE WITH TAYLOR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRAILER HITCHES WERE STILL BEING MANUFACTURED AND THAT THE HITCHES AND SUBSEQUENT REPAIRS SHOULD BE DONE WITHIN TWO (2) YEARS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I WAS TOLD WHEN I GOT THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE TO WAIT FOR THE SECOND THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND THEY ARE NOT. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER IS NOT ACTING IN GOOD FAITH TO ITS CUSTOMERS AND HAS NO INTENTION OF REPLACING THE RECALLED ITEMS. I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE JUST WAITING FOR THE JEEPS IN QUESTION TO DISAPPEAR AND GO TO JUNK YARDS. THEY HAVE NO INTENTION IN FIXING THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE REAR STRUCTURE REINFORCEMENT IS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THEM TO FIX. I FEEL RIGHT NOW THAT THE END RESULT OF THIS RECALL THAT ONLY 10% OF THE JEEPS IN QUESTION WILL ACTUALLY BE REPAIRED. I HAVE NEVER GONE THROUGH SUCH A LONG, DECEITFUL RECALL BEFORE. IT HAS BEEN MANY MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED A RECALL WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REMEDIED BY INSTALLING A HITCH. AUGUST 1, 2015 THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW DROPPED AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IN THE SAME MONTH MY JEEP STARTED TO SLIGHTLY FISHTAIL AS IF DRIVING IN VERY STRONG/ HIGH WINDS. LASTLY ON NOVEMBER 28, 2015 THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SIGN IS SHOWING " PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" WHEN IT WAS NEVER A ILLUMINATED BEFORE.

THIS LAST TIME THE PLACE NEAREST MY HOME WAS THE LAST STRAW, THE SERVICE MANAGER JEFF CARNIVAL AT CRYSTAL AUTOMOTIVE AT 143 CORTEZ BLVD IN BROOKSVILLE,FLORIDA 34613. GOT DOWNRIGHT NASTY WITH ME. I SUGGEST HE WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN SUCH LIBERTIES IF I WASN'T 72 YEARS OLD AND DISABLED. OF COURSE I LEFT SINCE ACCOMPLISHING NOTHING AGAIN. DO YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. ITS REALLY BEEN A LONG TIME GETTING THIS DONE.
