NOTIFIED BY THE LOCAL REPAIR CHAIN WORKER THAT MY FRONT SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE REPAIR WOULD COST ABOUT 1800.00 OR SO. I JUST RECENTLY GRADUATED FROM SCHOOL & LIVE PAY CHECK TO PAY CHECK. I THEM CALLED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP (SAM SWOPE JEEP) AND WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE HAD BEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS RELATED TO THE LIBERTY''S SUSPENSION SYSTEM. I ALSO WROTE TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. IF IT WAS" TAKEN CARE OF" THEN I SHOULDN'T HAVE THE SUSPENSION NEEDING REPAIR. EITHER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS SHODDY WORK. NOT ACTUALLY DONE. OR THE WORK WAS A TEMPORARY FIX. IN EITHER CASE, I NEED THE MANUFACTURER TO MAKE THE REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME & PROVIDE S LOANER VEHICLE WHILE THE REPAIR IS BEING MADE. REGARDING THE RECALL I FOUND THAT... . CONSEQUENCE: WHEN THE DRIVER CONTINUES TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH THIS CONDITION, THE CONTAMINATION CAN LEAD TO CORROSION, ACCELERATED WEAR AND POSSIBLY SEPARATION FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE CAUSING A LOSS OF VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. I HAVE TO TRAVEL THE HIGHWAYS AND ACROSS A BRIDGE TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. I DO NOT WANT TO BE A FATALITY OR BE THE CAUSE OF SOMEONE BEING A PART OF AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING FROM A DRIVEWAY, THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE AND MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE CONTACT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID TO THE VEHICLE AND THE FAILURE CEASED. TWO DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH,THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HEATER WAS ACTIVATED AND BURNED A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM SEAT CUSHION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY JEEP LIBERTY THAT THE FUEL TANK HAS A SMALL CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING A FUEL LEAK DURING CERTAIN TYPES OF REAR END COLLISIONS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO GAS TANK COULD EXPLODE IF HIT FROM REAR AND TRAILER HITCH NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED TO PROTECT GAS TANK. *SMD THE CONSUMER HAD THE HITCH INSTALLED, BY A COMPANY THAT WAS RECOMMENDED BY CHRYSLER. HOWEVER, SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER SAYING THE HITCH THAT WAS INSTALLED WAS THE WRONG ONE, AND HE WOULD NOT BE GETTING REIMBURSED. THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND THE FRONT WHEEL STARTED WOBBLING AND I COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR, AND ACCORDING TO OPELIKA FORD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP, MY LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE . MY COMPLAINT: MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP IN OPELIKA, AL FOR A MONTH WITH PROMISES OF THE PARTS COMING IN, BUT AS OF TODAY, 2/25/2014, ARE STILL NOT THERE. SUDDENLY HAD A HARD TIME TURNING CAR. CHECKED POWER STEERING AND IT WAS EMPTY. I PUT SOME IN AND NOTICED THERE WAS A LEAK. NOTHING LEADING UP TO THIS POINT INDICATED A LEAK. *TR
ON THE 18TH OF JANUARY OF 2014, I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME ON A RURAL ROAD WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 25MPH AND I WAS DRIVING AROUND 15 MPH BECAUSE THE ROAD DOESN'T HAVE AN ADEQUATE PAVEMENT, WHERE THERE IS ALOT OF POT HOLES. MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY ON A SMALL HILL, CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP SHUTTING ALL THE SYSTEM WHICH TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON, BY TURNING THE SWITCH AND IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES WHEN I SAW A THICK BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. I ATTEMPTED TO REACT QUICKLY AND SAW THAT THE DOORS WERE CLOSED SHUT. I FORCED THE DOOR TO OPEN AND RAN QUICKLY TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I LIFTED THE HOOD AND IT WAS STEAMING HOT THAT IT BURNED MY FINGERS, I THEN OPENED THE HOOD AND WITNESSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S MOTOR WAS COMPLETELY IN SMOKE. I BEGAN TO CAR 911 AND STEPPED ASIDE WHEN FLAMES STARTED TO COME OUT FROM THE MOTOR. IN LESS THAN 8 MINUTES THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY IN FIRE. BOTH POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTED ME DURING THIS TRAGIC EVENT. I HAVE BOTH REPORTS TO EVIDENCE THE EVENTS THAT HAD OCCURRED. I HAVE ATTEMPTED VARIOUS TIMES TO CONTACT CHRYSLER WITHIN MY LOCAL AREA AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RETURN CALL FROM THEM, WHILE THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT THEY WILL SEND A INSPECTOR TO VERIFY THE VEHICLE, I LEFT ALL OF MY PERSONAL DETAILS AND AM STILL WAITING FOR THEIR VISIT. I HAVE BEEN WAITING AND I HAVE CONTINUED TO CALL THEM IN EFFORT TO HAVE AN INSPECTOR TO VERIFY MY LOSS KNOWING THAT THE CAR IS STILL WITHIN THE VEHICLE GUARANTEED, STILL I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE AFTER A TWO MONTHS OF THE INCIDENT. HERE, I HAVE NOT ONLY SUFFERED FROM MATERIAL LOSS BUT ALSO CHRYSLER IN MY AREA DOES NOT DEMONSTRATE CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY NOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OR CONCERN FOR THEIR STATE OF BEING. *TR

NEARLY A COMPLETE, SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING. BARELY ABLE TO STOP WHEN PROCEEDING THRU A DRIVE THRU LANE. IF THIS WAS ANY NORMAL DRIVING SPEED, SERIOUS INJURY WOULD HAVE RESULTED. COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING FLUID IN RESERVOIR. NOT A SLOW LEAK!! PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE A RUSTED BRAKE LINE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. DRIVER SIDE WAS JUST AS RUSTED. THE RESULTING HOLE WAS SO LARGE THAT THE FLUID WOULD GUSH OUT IN A 1/8 INCH STREAM. IT APPEARS THE BRAKE LINE ATTACHED TO THE BRAKE CALIPER IS EXTREMELY PRONE TO RUST AT THE JOINT BETWEEN THE RUBBER AND METAL PORTION OF THE HOSE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM, ESPECIALLY IN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY PRONE TO CORROSION ISSUES. *TR

DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD NO PARTS AND HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE THE PARTS. CALLED THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER ON MAY 5, 2014. WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER STILL HAD NO PARTS AVAILABLE APPLICABLE TO THIS RECALL. FURTHERMORE, AND EVEN MORE CONCERNING, THERE IS NO PROJECTED TIME-TABLE FOR DISTRIBUTING THE APPROPRIATE PARTS TO DEALERSHIPS. THIS RECALL WAS ORIGINALLY ISSUED JUNE 19, 2013. I DO NOT FEEL THAT AN ENTIRE YEAR OR MORE IS AN APPROPRIATE TIME FRAME TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHOUT CHARGE AND WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, ESPECIALLY FOR A DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE FUEL LEAKS AND POSSIBLE FIRES FROM A REAR END COLLISION.
