I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE NHTSA AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR, 2014. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 13V-252. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT WE BOUGHT THE CAR AT IN GRESHAM, OREGON, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE RECALL. I GAVE THEM MY NAME AND NUMBER, AND ASKED THEM TO CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT THE PARTS IN. THAT WAS OVER 6 MONTHS AGO. I RECENTLY CALLED A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO. THE DATE OF THE RECALL WAS DECEMBER 11, 2013. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE TRACK; I TRIED ROLLING THE WINDOW UP BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAS BROKEN. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OLDER JEEP LIBERTY MODELS AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THE REGULATOR IS MADE OF PLASTIC INSTEAD OF METAL AND THE PART IS MADE TO BREAK OFTEN. I AM TIRED OF FIXING THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND AGAIN!

MY JEEPS AIRBAG FAILED AFTER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUSH AND ROLLED 60-80 FEET DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AFTER HITTING AN ANIMAL ON AN ICY ROAD.. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A JEEP LIBERTY (2004, 2WD, V6) AND HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF FOR A SECOND AND THEN BACK ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE RELAY CAN BE HEARD OPENING AND CLOSING. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND AN ACCURATE ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC (THE ONE IN THE HAYES BOOK DOES NOT SEEM TO AGREE WITH THE WIRING IN THE CAR). THE VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL BE INTERMITTENT AND LAST FOR 1-5 SECONDS. THEY THEN HAVE ALWAYS COME BACK ON AND STAYED ON BUT WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN OR IF THE LIGHTS WILL COME BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THERE IS ALWAYS A CLICKING SOUND IN THE DASH. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER SEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS TO BE AN ON GOING PROBLEM COVERING SEVERAL YEARS OF JEEP LIBERTY. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN MADE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN ASKED WHAT WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY VERSUS THOSE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW, JUST THAT THE VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MERGED OFF OF THE ROAD AND NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM WAS NOTIFIED. THE FIRE CHIEF STATED AND REPORTED THAT THE FIRE MORE THAN LIKELY BEGAN IN THE REAR. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BURNS TO HIS LOWER LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED BUT DEEMED AS TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

IGNITION SWITCH FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TRANSPORTING DISABLED PERSON. AGAIN!!!!! THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS SAME PART HAS FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE - IT IS A TINY, SMALL "POT METAL"/NYLON PART THAT IS A WEAK LINK IN THIS SUPPOSEDLY OTHERWISE STURDY RIG, AND THE ONLY FIX AFTER ALL THIS TIME OF REPEATED FAILURES IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN, RATHER THAN ONLY THE OFFENDING PART, AGAIN. THIS YEAR, THE PART LASTED FOR FAR LESS TIME THAN THE ORIGINAL PART - FOR ONLY 4 YEARS AND 48,000 MI. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN A CAREFUL AND CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER IS UNABLE TO RELY ON A VEHICLE USED TO TRANSPORT A WHEELCHAIR-BOUND PERSON. THIS JEEP IS A ONE-OWNER VEHICLE AND IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED AND CARED FOR BY THE DEALERSHIP AND OTHER AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTERS. (IN 2009, IT TOOK MONTHS TO GET THE PART) THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR RECALL. THE THING IS NOT GOING TO EXPLODE AND KILL SOMEONE, BUT LEAVING OCCUPANTS VULNERABLE (WITH NO WARNING) IS STILL A SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE. *TR
HAD JUST DRIVEN MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY ON FREEWAY FROM FORT LAUDERDALE TO MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITH NO ADVANCE WARNING, NOISES ETC. AFTER PARKING FOR A BRIEF PERIOD I ATTEMPTED TO STEER THE VEHICLE OUT OF TIGHT PARKING SPOT AND THE FRONT UPPER RIGHT BALL JOINT SNAPPED OUT OF PLACE AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE TIRE ITSELF. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS, UPPER BALL JOINTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS IT IS LIKELY THE LEFT BALL JOINT WILL FAIL WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE AND WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT BOTH BEING REPLACED. THE JEEP HAD JUST RECENTLY, AUG 2012 HAD A RECALL NOTICE TO REPLACE THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS/BALL JOINTS, AND ALSO IN 2006 THE LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS/BALL JOINTS. CALLED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY TO ADVISE OF THE MOST RECENT BALL JOINT FAILURE TO A VEHICLE THAT IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES. BASED ON THE PREVIOUS RECALL NOTICES REGARDING CONTROL ARMS/BALL JOINTS REQUESTED ASSISTANCE WITH THE MOST RECENT ISSUE. THEY REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. IT IS OBVIOUS CHRYSLER IS AND HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH CONTROL ARMS/BALL JOINTS ON THIS YEAR AND MODEL, AND UPON FURTHER RESEARCH MANY OTHER YEARS AND MODELS. THE ISSUE POSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK TO OTHER UNSUSPECTING OWNERS OF THE 2004 JEEP LIBERTY AND SIMILAR MAKES AND MODELS THAT WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING THIS ISSUE COULD OCCUR ON A HIGHWAY AT ANY SPEED RESULTING IN POTENTIALLY TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES. CONSIDERING THE AMOUNT OF LABOR IT TAKES TO REPLACE DAMAGED LOWER CONTROL ARMS/BALL JOINTS, AND ITS BECAUSE OF A RECALL NOTICE ONE WOULD THINK IT PRUDENT TO REPLACE THE UPPER ONES AT THE SAME TIME. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO UNSATISFACTORY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, HE WAS ADVISED BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOT TO INSTALL A TRAILER HITCH, AS CHRYSLER WOULD INSTALL IT IN THE BEGINNING OF JULY 2013. THE CONSUMER IS DISABLED AND HE NEEDED TO RELOCATE AND NEEDED A TRAILER TO PULL A U-HALL TO MOVE. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS WITH JEEP/CHRYSLER, HE WAS TURNED DOWN WITH A VARIETY OF EXCUSES. THE CONSUMER WAS FINALLY FORCED TO HAVE A HITCH PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED.
