I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO FOR "REAR STRUCTURE REINFORCEMENT". I HAVE BEEN TO THE JEEP DEALER IN MY AREA (MILTON RUBEN CHRYLSER JEEP, 3516 WASHINGTON ROAD, MARTINEZ, GA 30907, PH: 706-868-5454) 3 TIMES AND EACH TIME I AM TOLD THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN THERE IS A PART TO FIX MY AUTOMOBILE. IF THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL THEY ARE NOT TAKING IT SERIOUSLY, THEY ARE VERY DISMISSIVE WHEN I TALK TO THEM. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW, AND CHRYSLER STILL WON'T SUPPLY THE PARTS. *TR
I RECEIVED RECALL INFO (N46/NHTSA 13V-252) WELL OVER A YEAR AGO FOR MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY AND THE MANUFACTURER STILL DOES NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THEY ALSO HAVE NO ESTIMATE OF THE TIME WHEN THEY WILL HAVE PARTS. HOW CAN I GET THIS RESOLVED? TO MY UNDERSTANDING JEEP HASN'T PROVIDED ANY PARTS FOR ANY CARS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL AND THE DEALER IS NO HELP IN GETTING RESOLUTION OF THIS RECALL. HOW CAN I GET THIS RECALL RESOLVED? *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE N46/NHTSA 13V-252 WELL OVER 1 YEAR AGO FOR THE POSSIBLE FUEL LEAK IN A REAR END CRASH FOR MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THE RECALL. EVERY TIME I AM TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. I STOPPED BY ONE DAY AND ASKED AND WAS TOLD I COULD BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST BUT DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK UP MY VIN NUMBER ON MY PHONE. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND ASKED TO BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO WAITING LIST. ON MY LAST CONTACT WITH THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS, DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN, AND DO NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF TIME FRAME FOR THE PARTS TO BE IN FROM THE FACTORY. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL SOMETIME IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. *TR
I WAS SOLD A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT, IE THE FUEL TANK AND FILLER NECK. I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, BUT AM TOLD THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SOLD TO ME AND I BELIEVE THAT JEEP / CHRYSLER SHOULD BE DOING A BUY BACK / VOUCHER TO GET THESE VEHICLES OUT OF SERVICE REDUCING THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY AND DEATH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING 40MPH DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT NOT EVEN TURNING AND MY BALL JOINT BROKE OFF LANDING ON MY RIM SPLITTING IT IN TWO. THE AXLE IS NOW BEING PULLED OUT LEAKING FLUID THE TIRE IS RUINED (ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD). *TR
AS I PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY REMOTE THE DOOR REMAINS LOCKED. I NEEDED TO HAVE THE DOOR OPENED TO CHANGE THE TAILLIGHTS, BUT THE DOOR COULDN'T OPEN SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SINCE I ONLY OWNED THE TRUCK FOR A YEAR.THEY SAID IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT $200.00 TO OPEN THE DOOR AND CHANGE THE BULB, . BECAUSE THE DOOR ACTUATOR WAS BUSTED.I COULDN'T AFFORD THAT BECAUSE THE BULB ONLY COST ME $5.99. I ONLY WANTED THE DOOR OPEN TO CHANGE THE TAILLIGHT MYSELF.WELL I RETURNED HOME ONLY TO TELL MY NEIGHBOR THE PROBLEM, HE TOOK OFF THE PANEL AND UN LOCKED THE DOOR CHANGED THE BULB IN 10 MINUTES AND TOLD ME THE PROBLEM IS THE PLASTIC HINGE NOT THE ACTUATOR , HE RIGGED A STRING SO THAT I CAN UNLOCK THE DOOR UNTIL I CAN FIND THE PART, BUT NO ONE SELLS THE PART.IT IS A SMALL LATCH THAT UNLOCKS THE DOOR. VERY SIMPLE. THE BEST PART IS NEIGHBOR FIXED IT FOR NOW FOR FREE!! *TR

I HAD BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM AROUND THREE WEEKS AGO, AT HOT WEATHER I TURN THE A\C ON, AND AFTER 10 MINUTES THE ENGINE STARTS REHEATING, I ALREADY TAKE IT TO THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS THAT EVERYTHING IS OK, MY HUSBAND EVEN SCAN THE CAR AND HE GOT THE PO480, AND THEY SAID THAT NO EVERYTHING IS OK, I TOLD THEM THE SITUATION THAT IM WORRY ABOUT THE REHEATING CAUSE THREE DAYS AGO I HAS AT THE I95 AT 65 MPH, AND IT STARS REHEATING VERY FAST, I JUST PULL OVER THE CAR , BUT IT CAN START A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD OR SOMETHING I SAW A LOT OF SMOKE, I TOLD THEM, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING THAT EVERYTHING IS OK. WE WERE AT A BERRY FARM PICKING RASPBERRIES, WE LOOKED UP AND SAW OUR VEHICLE ROLLING TOWARDS US. THE TRANSMISSION MUST OF POPPED OUT GEAR(PARK) THE CAR CONTINUED GAINING SPEED DOWN THE HILL AS IT SLAMMED INTO A TREE. *TR

MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL. THE RECALL IS IN REGARD TO MY FUEL TANK HAVING A CHANCE OF FUEL LEAK DURING CERTAIN TYPES OF REAR END COLLISIONS WHICH CAN RESULT IN AN UNDERBODY FIRE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE. I HAVE MADE THREE DIFFERENT INQUIRIES AND FOLLOW UP, 1ST WITH MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER THAN WITH CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE IN REGARD TO AN ETA OF PARTS AND EXPEDITING THIS PROCESS WHICH AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED AND HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED, IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. ON SUNDAY 6/30 I WAS AT THE PHARMACY AROUND MY RESIDENSE IN PHILA, PA. WHEN I PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT TO GO INTO THE STREET WITH THE TRAFFIC TO GO BACK HOME. THE CAR STARTED MAKING THIS SCREENING NOISE AND IT FELT LIKE WHEN I WOULD GIVE IT GAS IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. I TRIED A LITTLE BIT OF GAS AND THEN IT MADE A BIG SOUN D LIKE AN EXPLOSION AND IT LOCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET . IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. IT FELT LIKE IT JUST DROP TO THE FLOOR AND IT FELT AS THOU THE TIRES FELL OFF THE CAR.... I HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT AWAY , NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE WOULD WORK ON IT. IT WOULDNT RESPOND . I HAD JUST GOTTEN THE RECALL NOTICE AND HAD TAKEN THIS CAR TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART THEY HAD SENT NOTICE RECALLING 2002-2007 JEEPS. THREE WEEKS BEFORE. I NEED HELP. I DONT WANT TO GET BACK BEHIND THIS CAR. IT WAS SCARY AND ONCE BEFORE IT HAD LOCKED UP ON MY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BE IN A CRASH. *TR
WHY HASN'T CHRYSLER COMPLIED WITH SAFETY RECALL N46 (GAS TANK LEAKAGE)?? I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES AND GET THE RESPONSE THAT THERE IS NO SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE PLASTIC GAS TANK. BUT THEY WILL INSTALL A TOW HITCH JUST TO SATISFY NHTSA. THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE EITHER. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW LATER, MAYBE IN AUGUST (THIS YEAR I HOPE). MY DAUGHTER WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A TELEPHONE POLE UPON MAKING A TURN AT ABOUT 35MPH. THANK GOD SHE IS OKAY, BUT HER CAR, A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY 4D 4X4 LTD WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE ACCIDENT AND I WANTED TO REPORT THIS FAILURE. *TR
CHRYSLER NOT FULFILLING NHTSA 13V-252 SAFETY RECALL TO PROTECT REAR FUEL TANK FROM EXPLOSION BY INSTALLING A TRAILER HITCH. SPITZER DODGE OF MANSFIELD, OHIO CONTINUES TO HAVE "NO PARTS" FOR THIS RECALL, BUT I COULD PAY TO HAVE THEM INSTALL ONE. *TR

NO ACCIDENT, RECALL FOR GAS TANK COLLISION. FIRE EXPLOSION DANGER. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY YOUR AGENCY.. CHRYSLER HAS NOT YET BEGUN THE RECALL AS REPORTED BY NHTSA. THEY HAVE INFORMED THAT THE RECALL WILL START SOON. THAT WAS IN JUNE, OCTOBER AND THEN AGAIN IN DECEMBER. AS THIS IS A CRUCIAL SAFETY ISSUE, I ASSUME YOUR AGENCY MUST WANT THIS RESOLVED. I AM WRITING IN REGARDS TO A SAFETY RECALL ON MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY THAT WAS ISSUED IN JUNE 2013. THE RECALL EXISTS AS THE FUEL TANK CAN RUPTURE AND CAUSE FIRES IN REAR-END COLLISIONS. THE NHTSA DID A THREE YEAR INVESTIGATION THAT SHOWED 51 PEOPLE DIED IN FIERY CRASHES IN JEEPS WITH GAS TANKS POSITIONED BEHIND THE REAR AXLE. TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM CHRYSLER IS TO INSTALL A TOW HITCH FREE OF CHARGE. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEN ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER AT THEIR 1-800 NUMBER. DESPITE THESE PHONE CALLS NO ONE COULD PROVIDE AN ANSWER AS TO WHEN THIS POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM CHRYSLER GROUP LLC INFORMING ME OF THE RECALL (AS IF I WAS UNAWARE) AND THAT THE PARTS REQUIRED ARE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. SO THIS RECALL HAS BEEN IN EFFECT SINCE JUNE AND THERE IS NO CLEAR DATE THAT MY VEHICLE WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH A TOW HITCH TO PREVENT A FIERY CRASH. IT IS APPARENT THROUGH NEWSPAPER ARTICLES THAT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN RELUCTANT TO ISSUE THE RECALL AND IT IS SPECULATED THAT THEY DID SO AS TO NOT HURT THEIR IMAGE AND FINANCES. ALSO TO AVOID A PUBLIC RELATIONS NIGHTMARE AND BEING FORCED TO PROVIDE THE RECALL AFTER POTENTIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS WITH WITNESSES PROVIDING DETAILS OF DEADLY CRASHES INVOLVING JEEPS. IT IS APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER IS TRYING TO AVOID THIS REPAIR DUE TO COST. IT HAS BEEN SEVEN MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL AND NOT A SINGLE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. IT IS ALSO UNKNOWN WHEN THE REPAIRS WILL BE MADE AS THE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE. I QUESTION THE INTEGRITY OF CHRYSLER IN REGARDS TO THIS RECALL AND ASK THAT YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTING SHAKING. I SLOWED DOWN AND EXITED THE FREEWAY. THE SHAKING GOT WORSE, AND WHEN I TURNED INTO THE GAS STATION, THE FRONT WHEEL ACTUALLY CAME OFF AND ROLLED DOWN THE STREET. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. IT LOOKS LIKE THE LUG NUTS JUST BROKE OFF. I HAD NO WORK DONE ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS OR SO. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED SPARKS AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS A FIRE ERUPTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. HIT FROM BEHIND. THE DRIVERS SEAT HELD UP WELL, BUT THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT FORCED MY LEGS BACKWARD OFF OF THE FIREWALL CONTROLS AND MY LEGS WERE UP AGAINST THE SEAT WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. MY LOWER LEGS AT THE CALVES WERE CRUSHED AND THIS LED TO SEVERE BLEEDING CONTAINED IN THE LEGS (COMPARTMENT SYNDROME). NO FRACTURES BUT EMERGENCY SURGERY WAS NEEDED. AFTER REVIEWING PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE INTERIOR TODAY, IT IS APPARENT THAT MY CALVES HIT THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT BAR THAT STICKS OUT UNDER AND FORWARD OF THE PADDED PORTION OF THE SEAT. I FIND THIS A COMMON PLACEMENT OF THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT BAR IN MANY VEHICLES. IF NOT FOR THIS BAR I WOULD BE BACK TO WORK THIS WEEK AND NO SIGNIFICANT MEDICAL BILLS. OVERALL THE SEAT CONFORMED WELL TO ME AND DID NOT CAUSE ME TO FRACTURE MY NECK (SEVERE OSTEOPOROSIS AND PRIOR NECK FUSION). WE TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE LOWER CONTROL ARM REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL ON THE PART. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARM WAS BAD AND THEY WOULD NOT DO THE RECALL REPAIR OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM UNTIL WE PAID TO REPLACE THE UPPER CONTROL ARM. WE WERE TOLD THE PART WAS PRETTY MUCH WORN OUT AND HANGING BY A THREAD AND THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE TIRES TO THE CAR WERE THE SHOCKS. THE UPPER CONTROL ARM IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND DEALER CHARGE TO REPAIR IT WAS $600. THE RECALL OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS BECAUSE THE PART CAN WEAR OUT DUE TO NOT BEING TREATED FOR THE SALT USED ON ROADS IN OUR STATE. WAS ALERTED BY INTERNET BLOG IN FEB. OF 2013 THAT REAR COLLISIONS ON THIS MODEL OF JEEP LIBERTY (2004) MAY CAUSE GAS TANK TO RUPTURE CREATING A FIRE HAZARD. RESPONSES TO THE BLOG INDICATED THAT A CLASS IV OR BETTER TRAILER HITCH MAY ABSORB THE IMPACT, THUS INCREASING THE CHANCE THAT THE GAS TANK WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED. THIS EXPLANATION SOUNDED REASONABLE AND THEREFOR I OPTED TO HAVE A CLASS IV DRAW TITE HITCH INSTALLED AS A PRECAUTION. THIS HITCH MEETS OR EXCEEDS OEM SPECS. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS LATER REGARDING THIS ISSUE. DRIVER'S SEAT HEATER FELT EXTREMELY HOT AGAINST MY BACK WHILE DRIVING. LEANED FORWARD AND SMELLED A BURNING ODOR, ALSO FELT JACKET AND BACK OF SEAT WHICH WERE BOTH EXTREMELY HOT AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE HEATED SEATS. UPON ARRIVING AT WORK,GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND SAW THE FRONT SEAT LEATHER AGAINST WHERE MY BACK WAS HAD BEEN BURNED, AS WELL AS THE BACK OF MY JACKET. CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL PHONE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR THE HEATED SEATS MALFUNCTIONING AND OVERHEATING, THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL AVAILABLE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY IS EXPIRED, THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER EXPENSES DUE TO REPAIRS. I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER, WHO ALSO SAID I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS SINCE THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL OF JEEP. UPON SEARCHING THE WEB, THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF OTHER JEEP LIBERTIES WITH THIS ISSUE, INCLUDING A COURT CASE THAT WAS FILED 10/29/12 FOR A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY WHICH THE HEATED SEATS GENERATED DANGEROUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES IN WHICH A CONSUMER ENDURED THIRD DEGREE BURNS.
