STARTING BACK IN AUGUST AND CONTINUING TO THIS DATE, EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL INTO THE JEEP IT SPLASHES OUT OF THE GAS TANK WHEN FULL. NOT JUST A LITTLE SPLASH EITHER! IT POURS OUT OF THE GAS TANK AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP EVERY TIME. I CAN SOMEWHAT CONTROL THE SPLASH BY CLICKING OFF THE GAS PUMP HANDLE AT INTERMEDIATE INTERVALS AND THEN GOING VERY SLOWLY TO PUT THE LAST 2 TO 3 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK, BUT THIS DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK. WHEN THE TANK IS ALMOST FULL IT WILL START TO SPEW OUT. *TR

JEEP LIBERTY 2005 POWER WINDOWS FAILURE. I HAVE JUST SCHEDULED, FOR THE 3RD TIME, MY WINDOW MOTOR REPAIR REPLACEMENT. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY ISN'T IT BEING ADDRESSED? AIR BAG LIGHT AND SEAT BELT LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELTS ARE FASTENED. ALL FUSES OK. *TR
WHEN IT RAIN WATER IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE WATER IS RUNNING ALONG THE OUTLETS PLUGS OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF WHERE THE WATER IS ENTERING. I HEARD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS CONDITION ON OTHER MODELS, BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE JEEP. *TR

2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT RANDOMLY BECOMES UNLATCHED FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE BEING IN PARK OR IN DRIVE.
WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER JUST PURCHASING IT, FUEL GUSHED OUT OF THE TANK AFTER THE PUMPED HAD CLICKED OFF. THE PUMP DID NOT OVERFILL THE TANK. FUEL SPLASHED OUT ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT DIRECTLY BESIDE THE VEHICLE OR FUEL WOULD HAVE SPLASHED ON ME. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FAULT OF THE PUMP UNTIL I HAPPENED TO SEE A VIDEO ON UTUBE OF OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FUEL TANK ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SPILLING GAS, EVERY TIME SHE FILLED THE TANK. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ONLY THE 2006 AND 2007 WERE COVERED. THE DEALER THEN INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $1500 FOR THE FUEL TANK, PLUS LABOR AND ANY INCIDENTAL CHARGES.
CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT N46/NHTSA.13V-252 GAS TANK RECALL ON 3/10/14 AND DEALER SAID THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON WHEN PARTS ARE COMING OR HOW TO HANDLE RECALL. WHEN WILL THIS TAKE PLACE. NO ACTION BY CHRYSLER. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE AROUND THE END OF LAST YEAR. IT SHOULD NOT BE TAKING THIS LONG. ARE WE WAITING FOR MORE INJURIES FOR COURT CASES OR FOR CHRYSLER TO HOPE MOST OF THE VEHICLES TO BE OUT OF SERVICE? I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THIS TOWN OF 55000 PEOPLE WITH A JEEP. *TR

WHILE FUELING UP AND IT IS FULL THE AUTOMATIC PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF TILL IT OVER FLOWS A LITTLE, IT DOES IT EVERY TIME YOU GO THE PUMP. AND YOU LOSE LIKE A QUARTER OF A GALLON OF GAS OUT OF IT. *TR

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALER IN 2011, WHILE FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE GAS HAS NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AT THE FULL POINT CAUSING GAS TO FLOW ONTO THE REAR QUARTER PANEL, AND ON MY HANDS AND JEANS. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE WHO IS STILL IN A CAR SEAT AND MUST BE PICKED UP AND HELPED IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. CANNOT LEAVE MY DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE TO WASH FUEL OFF MY HANDS, AND HAD TO HELP HER WITH GAS ON ME. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES AND YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. BEFORE EVEN LEAVING THE PARKING LOT WITH NEW VEHICLE DEALER TOOK VEHICLE AND FILLED UP GAS TANK, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF OVERFLOW ISSUES AT THE DEALERSHIP, OR WHEN THE DEALER RETURNED WITH THE VEHICLE. I NOW SLOW THE GAS PUMP DOWN TO AVOID THE OVERFLOW BUT IT STILL DOES IT JUST NOT TO THE POINT OF SPRAYING UPWARD TOWARDS MY FACE. *TR
THE VEHICLE CONSISTENTLY SPILLS FUEL UPON FILLING THE TANK. AUTOMATIC SHUTOFFS AT GAS STATIONS DO NOT PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. IT HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS IN DIFFERENT STATES, SO I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS CAUSED BY THE GAS STATION PUMPING SYSTEM. SOME SPILLS HAVE BEEN UP TO 0.5 GALLONS. IN MY OPINION THIS PRESENTS A SEVERE FIRE HAZARD. *TR

STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD HITTING A VEHICLE IN THE FRONT CAUSING A CRASH. NO OTHER KNOWN INSTANCE BEFORE THIS AND NO INJURIES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING NOTICED DRIVING WHEELS SLOPPY. THERE IS TO BOLTS IN FRONT FRAME CONNECTED TO STEERING,WHEN TURN WHEELS ONE SIDE STAYS AND REST PIVOTS AS NEED TO TURN STEERING. ON OTHER SIDE BOLT AND WHOLE BOLT AND MECHANISM PIVOTS AND MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. MAKES A POPPING SOUND AS WELL. HAVE NOTICED RECENTLY THAT IF HIT A BUMP STEERING GET VERY SHAKY.
MY JEEP LIBERTY 2005 HAS ALWAYS SINCE NEW SPLASHED GAS BACK FROM TANK WHEN FILLING UP. I DIDN'T KNOW OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I READ THIS COMPLAINT PAGE. IT DID IT NEW AND HAS CONTINUED TO SPLASH BACK ALOT OF GAS ONTO THE BODY OF THE CAR AND ON THE PAVEMENT IN FRONT OF GAS TANKS WHEN FILLING UP TANK AT ANY LOCATION. I TEND TO TRY TO STOP FILLING BEFORE FULL TO STOP THIS PROBLEM. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS YOU SHOULD REQUIRE THIS PROBLEM BE REPAIRED. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR ME AND OTHERS AT THE STATION IF JUST ONE PERSON COMES BY SMOKING. PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS MY FORMAL COMPLAINT IN CASE THERE IS EVER A DEATH OR SITUATION THAT THIS BECOME FATAL. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR DEFECTIVE. THIS PLASTIC REGULATOR BREAKS AND THE WINDOW DROPS DOWN. THIS IS A PLASTIC PART THAT HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. CHRYSLER HAS EVEN OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON SELECT MODEL YEARS ON THIS PART, YET HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED IT AS A DEFECTIVE PART THAT COST CONSUMERS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE AS EACH REGULATOR GOES OUT ONE BY ONE ON YOUR VEHICLE. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A METAL REGULATOR. THE AVERAGE COST TO REPLACE THIS PART IS $300-$500 EACH TIME IT FAILS! *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT AND THEN CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF A BRICK HOUSE AND TWO OTHER PARKED VEHICLES. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY TO THE SHOULDER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,696.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V288000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM THE RECALL SERVICE BECAUSE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN I FUEL UP MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY THERE IS NO AUTO STOP FOR GAS FILL UP. IF I TRY TO FILL TANK ALL THE WAY UP THE GAS WILL SQUIRT BACK AT ME, COVERING MY VEHICLE, MY CLOTHING AND MY SKIN, SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AFTER COVERED IN GAS. FAILURE OF STEERING COLUMN ROD TO ACTUATE IGNITION SENSE SWITCH CAUSED VEHICLE NO START AND DRIVER STRANDED. ROD GOES BETWEEN KEY CYLINDER AND IGNITION SWITCH. KEY CAN STILL BE TURNED, BUT IF IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT ACTUATE ENGINE DOES NOT START. THERE ARE NO DEALER SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS IN STEERING COLUMN. THIS LEADS TO THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN NEEDING REPLACEMENT FOR THE FAILURE OF A 3MM ALUMINUM CAST ROD. DEALER ESTIMATE OF $1200 FOR REPAIR. PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE MALFUNCTION WAS CAUSED BY RUSTED BALL JOINTS. THE MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH FRONT BALL JOINTS. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
