FUEL WAS LEAKING OUT OF THE FUEL FILTER HEAD AT THE FUEL HEATER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. THE PLASTIC AROUND THE FUEL HEATER CONNECTER HAD SCORCH MARKS. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE DUE TO AIR PULLING INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM THROUGH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE TYPE/MODEL. POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD AND STALLING POTENTIAL. HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER HEAD. *TR

THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS FLAMES IGNITED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT EXITED FROM THE VEHICLE SAFELY AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE MASSIVE FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. UNDER SAFETY RECALL N46/NHTSA 13V-252, WE FORWARDED TO CHRYSLER A LETTER WITH REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR A TRAILER HITCH WE REPLACED IN 2011, WE WERE TOLD SINCE THE TRAILER HITCH WAS NOT OEM, THAT CHRYSLER WAS STILL DETERMINING WHETHER A POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT WAS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WITH AFTERMARKET TRAILER HITCH, WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD GET AN EXPLANATION IN WRITING, THIS WAS LAST DECEMBER 2013, WE ARE STILL AWAITING A WRITTEN RESPONSE, WE HAD SENT ALL PROPER DOCUMENTATION ON OUR COST TO INSTALL THE TRAILER HITCH IN 2011 AND STILL HAVE A COPY OF THE RECEIPT, WE HAD TO SEND THE ORIGINAL TO CHRYSLER

THE HEATED SEAT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE GOT SO HOT THAT IT MADE TO BURN MARKS IN THE LETHER AND SMELLED OF SMOKE. *TR
I AM CONTACTING YOU IN REFERENCE TO RECALL N46 / 13V- 252 ON THE JEEP HITCH ISSUE. I HAVE JUMPED THRU CHRYSLERS' HOOPS FOR THE LAST 12 MONTHS ONLY TO BE TOLD KNOW THAT MY REESE HITCH THAT I HAD INSTALLED PRIOR TO ALL THIS STARTING IS NOT A "OEM" PART AND THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR IT. I HAD THIS HITCH INSTALLED AT A LICENSED DEALER AND THE HITCH MEETS ICC REQUIREMENTS FOR A CLASS 3 HITCH. I AM SURE THAT I'M IN THE SAME BOAT THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE IN, AND I HOPE YOU CAN ADVISE ME WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE. *TR
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE ON MY LIBERTY. WENT INTO LOCAL SERVICE DEALER AS THEY STATED RECALL WAS DUE. DEALER THEN STATED THEY HAD NO PARTS, NO TECHNICAL DATA OR GUIDANCE ON THIS PARTICULAR RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, IF THIS VEHICLE SITS FOR OVER TWO DAYS WILL NOT START (BATTERY DIES). MULTIPLE BATTERIES INSTALLED, CHARGING SYSTEM, NO KNOWN ELECTRICAL SHORTS OR ERRANT COMPUTER CODES. CHRYSLER WILL NOT ADDRESS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *JS
EVERY TIME I GO TO THE GAS STATION AND FILL UP MY TANK, THE PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND IT SPILL ABOUT A CUP FULL OF GAS. ALSO AFTER SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS THAT ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!!! *TR
EACH TIME I TRY TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK, THE TANK OVERFLOWS AND GAS SPEWS ONTO THE GROUND, ONTO THE PUMP, AND ALL OVER THE CAR. *TR
WHEN SLOWING DOWN IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AT A HIGH SPEED. VEHICLE MUST BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL UNTIL ENGINE DECELERATES. THIS HAS OCCURRED APPROX. 5 TIMES. IT ALWAYS IS UNEXPECTED, AND ALWAYS OCCURS WHEN MOVING SLOWLY IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. IF THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED DURING THE ACCELERATION THE REAR WHEELS WILL SPIN. THE CAR MUST BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL. THE ACCELERATION LASTS FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS MAINTAINED AND OPERATES PERFECTLY, EXCEPT FOR THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED WHILE SITTING ON A HILL AT A STOP SIGN. JEEP WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN GAS WAS APPLIED IT TRIED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AS IF IT WERE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLING FAN MODULE HAD MELTED AND THE COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE INCIDENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPRESSOR, RADIATOR AND COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 215,000.

I AM WRITING REGARDING THE RECENT RECALL OF ALL JEEP LIBERTY'S. DESPITE WHAT IT SAYS HERE, CHRYSLER HAS TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT INSPECT NOR INSTALL A TRAILER HITCH ON MY 2005 LIBERTY WHICH IS CLEARLY PART OF THE RECALL. DID THEY JUST LIE AND SAY THEY WOULD DO THIS TO AVOID LEGAL ACTION? ON VEHICLES IN THE RECALL THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH A TOW HITCH, CHRYSLER WILL INSTALL A CHRYSLER DESIGNED TOW HITCH FREE OF CHARGE, PROVIDED THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE CAN SUPPORT PROPER INSTALLATION. ON VEHICLES IN THE RECALL THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN AFTER MARKET TOW HITCH, CHRYSLER WILL ASSESS WHETHER THE HITCH AND SURROUNDING AREAS SHOW EVIDENCE OF SHARP EDGES OR OTHER PUNCTURE RISKS. IF SO, CHRYSLER WILL REPLACE THE TOW HITCH WITH A CHRYSLER DESIGNED TOW HITCH FREE OF CHARGE, PROVIDED THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE CAN SUPPORT PROPER INSTALLATION. ON VEHICLES ALREADY EQUIPPED WITH A CHRYSLER DESIGNED TOW HITCH, CHRYSLER WILL INSPECT THE AREA AROUND THE TOW HITCH INSTALLATION, AND IF ANY INSTALLATION ISSUES ARE IDENTIFIED, THEY WILL BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. *JB

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWICE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR EACH FAILURE. IN 2007, THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,899.

I HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT I NOTICED COUPLE YEARS AGO THAT EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK UP IT DOES NOT SHUT THE GAS NOZZLE OFF AND ALWAYS BACK FLOWS OUT AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF MY JEEP. I THOUGHT THE GAS STATION ISSUES UNTIL TRY MULTIPLES GAS STATIONS. *TR
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WITH A LIGHT POLE AND SMALL TREE. DRIVER WAS FORCED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID A HEAD ON CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. TWO OF THE FRONT BUMPER SENSORS WERE HIT, BUT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVE HIT THE STEERING COLUMN THAT HAD BROKEN OFF WITH HER STERNUM, AND THE PASSENGER HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A QUESTION INVOLVING THE SEAT BELTS NOT HOLDING EITHER OF THE INDIVIDUALS IN PLACE. OVER THE PAST 12 MONTHS, I HAVE RECEIVED THREE (3) SEPARATE NOTICES FOR VEHICLE RECALL, NOTIFICATION CODE N46. EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED MY DEALER AND EACH TIME MY DEALER HAS TOLD ME THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE PARTS TO ACCOMPLISH THE REPAIR ON THE RECALL. THEY ALSO TELL ME THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL GET THE PARTS IN. IF MY VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE DEALER SHOWS NO SENSE OF CARING IF I GET THE VEHICLE FIXED OR NOT. THEY OPEN THEMSELVES UP TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN.
