WHENEVER I FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION, THE GAS POURS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK BEFORE THE PUMP STOPS. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP, NO MATTER WHAT STATION I GO TO. I NOW HAVE TO STOP SHORT OF FILLING ALL THE WAY, OTHERWISE THE GAS SPILLS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND THE FUMES GET INTO THE INSIDE OF THE CABIN. *TR
DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS. EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT THEM. JUST TYPE IN 2005 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATOR AND SEE ALL THE HITS. THE WINDOW REGULATORS ARE BAD ON ALL JEEP LIBERTYS FROM 2002-2007. I HAVE SENT INFORMATION BEFORE BUT IT SEEMS NO ONE CARES UNTIL SOMEONE DIES. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER, CHRYSLER, BBB, THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND SEVERAL TV STATIONS. I HAVE ALSO TOLD SEVERAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES INCLUDING NHTSA BUT AGAIN NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE AMERICAN CITIZEN. THE ONES WHO PAY THE BILLS. WHEN IT FAILS THE WINDOW SLIDES DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING SO YOUR CAR BECOMES UNSAFE AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCK IT OR SECURE THE CAR. THE GLASS CAN SLIDE DOWN IN THE DOOR OR BREAK IN THE DOOR. THEN YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND HE CHARGES YOU $400 TO FIX A KNOWN DEFECTIVE. CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERS LOVE IT. YOU MAKE MONEY WHEN YOU SELL A CAR WITH A DEFECT AND THEN CHARGE THE PERSON EVERYTIME THE DEFECT FAILS. IT IS A WIN WIN FOR CHRYSLER AND ITS DEALERS. THE PUBLIC IS GETTING THE SHAFT. IMAGINE NOT GOING CERTAIN PLACES BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRAID YOUR CAR IS NOT SAFE TO TAKE THERE OR NOT GOING OVER NIGHT BECAUSE OF YOUR CAR. HOW ABOUT I STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND A GUYS GETS IN MY BACK SEAT WITH A KNIFE OR A GUN AND KILLS ME DUE TO MY BROKEN WINDOW REGULATOR. THE WINDOW FALLS DOWN AND THE RAIN STAINS THE SEATS ANOTHER ISSUE THE SEATS STAIN EVEN FROM WATER. NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER ISSUES I HAVE HAD THE BELT TENSIOR, THE HORN, THE ROOF RACK, THE PARKING BRAKE, THE MASTER CYLINDER, WINDOW REGULATORS, WINDOW REGULATORS, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. I SEE THERE ARE OVER 60 COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT ON YOUR WEBSITE SO WHEN CAN I EXPECT SOMETHING TO BE DONE. WHEN WILL THERE BE A RECALL ON WINDOW REGULATORS ON JEEP LIBERTY'S? MAYBE WE NEED SOMEONE TO GO POSTAL AT A DEALERSHIP TO GET ATTENTION. NOT ME. THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND WITH TONS OF EVIDENCE SO FIX IT. *TR
ALL 2005 JEEP LIBERTY'S HAVE DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS THAT BREAK EVEN WHEN THE WINDOW IS NOT USED. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT DOES NOT CARE. THEY SELL A CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND WHEN IT BREAKS THEY HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART AND CHARGE YOU $400. IT IS FRAUD PLAIN AND SIMPLE. WHEN THE WINDOW DROPS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING THE GLASS CAN BREAK AND INJURE SOMEONE. ITEMS CAN BE TOSSED INTO THE CAR SUCH AS STONES OR DEBRIS FROM OTHER DRIVERS. PEOPLE CAN ENTER YOUR CAR AND ATTACK YOU OR KILL YOU SINCE THE CAR CANNOT BE LOCKED. YOU CANNOT LEAVE ITEMS IN YOUR CAR BECAUSE IT IS NEVER SECURE. WHEN THE WINDOW FALLS AIR RUSHES INTO YOUR CAR IF YOU ARE DRIVING ALONG WITH RAIN, SNOW AND SLEET WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE DEPENDING ON WHAT WINDOW IT IS. IT STAINS THE SEATS. I HAVE CONTACTED OTHER GOV.'T AGENCIES AND SOME TV STATIONS. IF NOTHING IS DONE I WILL CONTACT OTHER TV STATIONS UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT ON THE SAME VEHICLE WITH THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL FALLING OFF DUE TO THE FIVE STUDS BEING SHEARED OFF. FIRST INCIDENT WAS @ 104104MI AND SECOND AT 152212MI. ALL MILEAGE IS HIGHWAY MILEAGE ON THE 4X4. NO OF-ROAD ROUGH TREATMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, AND I HAD THE CODE RUN WHICH STATED THE PROBLEM BEING THE TORQUE CLUTCH CONVERTER (TCC) SOLENOID CIRCUIT. UPON RESEARCHING POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS AND COST FOR REPAIR, I NOTICED MANY OTHERS WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM APPEAR. SINCE NO RECALLS WERE AVAILABLE, I HAD THE TCC REPLACED AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF MY RESEARCH AND THE OPINION OF THE LOCAL SHOP WHO SAID THE PROBLEM WAS NOT ELECTRICAL. AT THIS POINT, THE NEW TCC HAS BEEN REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT REAPPEARED. HOWEVER, EVER SINCE THE LIGHT ORIGINALLY CAME ON, I HAVE NOTICED THE ACCELERATION AND IDLE HAVE BEEN VERY STRANGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STALL, IT DOES MAKE ODD NOISES WHEN 1) DRIVING AT SPEEDS AROUND 1-30 MPH, 2) DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS UP AN INCLINE, AND 3) WHEN MOVING IN REVERSE INITIALLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER WHERE IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION:REAR) HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE THE RECALL DID NOT COVER THE STATE IN WHICH THE CONTACT RESIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
I WAS PARKED AND PREPARING TO LEAVE WORK WHEN MY WINDOW DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I SEE THAT A RECALL WAS DONE ON THIS SAME ISSUE FOR MY VEHICLE, BUT NOT MY YEAR.. I HAVE A 2005 AND THEY ARE ONLY COVERING THIS ISSUE FOR 2006 FORWARD... WHY.. IF IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL, THAN SHOULDN'T THE OTHER YEARS BE COVERED AS WELL? *TR

I'VE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE POSSIBLE RECALL REGARDING THE FUEL TANKS - AND I ALWAYS HAVE A GAS ODOR IN MY CAR. IT IS USUALLY MUCH STRONGER AFTER I FILL MY TANK BUT I ALWAYS HAVE A GAS ODOR. ALSO I HAVE THE PASSENGER BACK WINDOW DOWN LIKE MANY OTHER OWNERS. *TR

WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO TURN LEFT. WHEN THE STOP LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO PROCEED WITH THE VEHICLE. INITIALLY WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS THE VEHICLE LURCHED DRAMATICALLY FORWARD INTO OPPOSING TRAFFIC. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THAT THE ONCOMING CARS WERE ABLE TO SWERVE TO AVOID THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT IN TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND THE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE.THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR SIMILAR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IN SPEAKING WITH THE MECHANIC PERFORMING THE REPAIR HE INDICATED THAT CHRYSLER HAD SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE 42RLE TRANSMISSIONS. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO PRODUCE A VEHICLE WITH AN INHERENT DEFECT THAT CREATES A SEVERE SAFETY IMPAIRMENT. *TR

THE CONTACT LATER DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM THE FUEL AND WATER SEPARATOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FUEL AND WATER SEPARATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. GAS TANK "BURPS" OUT GAS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND AS SOON AS THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF. HAS LANDED ON MY FEET A FEW TIMES. IT'S DANGEROUS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I'VE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. NOT ACCEPTABLE. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT'S HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF JEEP DRIVERS. *TR
JEEP WILL NOT START, DEALER CLAIMS IS A BROKEN STEEL PIECE IN THE IGNITION IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CAR HAS NOT HAD A ACCIDENT OR ANY OTHER DAMAGE. CONTACTED JEEP CORPORATE AND THEY REFUSE ANY HELP DUE TO MILEAGE AND AGE DEALER COST FOR REPAIR WILL BE APPROX $700.00 FOR USED. NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN. A NEW ONE WILL BE APPROC $1300.00 AND THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY HAVE NO ESTIMATED TIME OF GETTING NEW PART. THEY QUOTED IT COULD MONTHS. THIS WILL BE THIRD TIME IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS THE CAR IS IN THE DEALER FOR NOT STARTING. EACH TIME IT IS A DIFFERENT REPAIR. THE STEERING COLUMN IS NOT DAMAGED. *TR
THIS LIBERTY CRD HAS HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY, ENGINE WAS DETUNED TO PREVENT TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEMS, AFTER WARRANTY I STILL HAD PROBLEMS. ON 11/27/ 2012 GOING TO WORK MERGING ON TOLL WAY CAR LOST POWER. TURNED OUT TO BE TORQUE CONVERTER BLEW UP AND DESTROYED TRANSMISSION. EVEN THOUGH CAR HAS 130,000 MILES, TRANSMISSION IN CAR NEVER HAD MORE THAN 40,000 DUE TO THE MANY TIMES IT WAS REMOVED. *TR
ON A RAINY MORNING ON 11/13/2012 WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE MY JEEP LIBERTY WENT INTO A SKID AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT THE ROADSIDE BARRIER. THE FRONT AND BACK BUMPERS WERE DAMAGED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE SKID BUT THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE AND COULD NOT BE STEERED TO HELP CONTROL THE TRUCK. THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST TWICE BEFORE WHEN THE TRUCK WENT INTO A SKID. MY HUSBAND HAD ASKED OUR LOCAL SERVICE DEALER ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THAT THIS WAS PART OF THE JEEP SUSPENSION AND WAS NOT A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE OPERATION. BASED ON THAT INQUIRY, I THOUGHT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A FLUKE. HOWEVER, NOW I AM NOT SO SURE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE STEERING COLUMN ON A VEHICLE SHOULD LOCKED IN PLACE AND NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE CONTROLLED. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE BEEN WAITING EIGHT MONTHS FOR MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER TO GET THE PART FOR THE LATEST SAFETY RECALL, L27/NHTSA 12V-085 REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARMS. WE CHECKED LAST MONTH AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT WE WERE STILL NUMBER TWO ON THE LIST AND WHEN THEY GOT THE REPAIR PART WE WOULD GET THE REPAIR PART. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SINCE MAY 2012 THAT WE WERE NUMBER TWO ON THE REPAIR LIST. I NEED ANSWERS ON WHY MY STEERING WHEEL DOES THIS OR I NEED TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN I MIGHT HAVE VERY DIFFERENT RESULTS THAN THE PAST TWO TIMES. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THE FAILURE WAS IN FACT CONSISITENT WITH THE RECALL AND THE DEALER STATED IT WAS, BUT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I CAN'T PUT MORE THAN $1 WORTH OF GAS IN AT A TIME. FUEL CONTINUES TO BACK UP ONTO ME AND THE GROUND. VERY HARMFUL TO MY FAMILY AND THE ENVIRONMENT. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT SHOWS UP HERE AND ON MANY WEBSITES. JEEP HAS ALREADY PUT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO THE INTERSTATE AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S FACE WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL, THEN THE WINDSHIELD, KNOCKING OUT THREE OF HER FRONT TEETH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER REFUELING, FUEL WOULD SPEW FROM THE FILLER NECK VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED TO DISPENSE 15 GALLONS OF FUEL AND NO MORE IN ORDER TO AVOID THE OVERFLOW. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL TANK VALVE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE PLASTIC BUSHING IN THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFTER CABLE BROKE AND THE TRANSFER CASE COULD NOT BE SHIFTED (4WD, NEUTRAL, 2WD). OURS GOT STUCK IN 2WD SO WE ABLE TO DRIVE IT. THIS COULD HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING AND APPARENTLY OFTEN DOES. EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, IF I LEAVE THE GAS PUMP AUTO FILL LEVER ON THEN GAS WILL SPEW OUT INSTEAD OF THE GAS LEVER STOPPING. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE LEVER MALFUNCTIONING, BUT AFTER HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM RECUR AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND PUMPS, I KNEW IT WAS MY VEHICLE.
