2005 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW OPERATION FAILS REPEATEDLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND INFERIOR COMPONENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL PAN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
WHEN FILLING THE CAR WITH GAS IT DOES NOT STOP IT POPS OUT AND IF YOU ARE IN THE WAY WILL GO ALL OVER YOU ON THE GROUND AND THE CAR. PLUS YOU ARE PAYING FOR GAS THAT IS NOT IN YOUR CAR. *TR

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,200.
LOSS OF CONTROL: JUNE 30, 2011, 05 JEEP LIBERTY. RUSTED THROUGH LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THE LEFT SIDE. JEEP FLAT BEDDED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT. COULD HAVE CAUSED MORE DAMAGE IF I HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY. *TR

KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF IGNITION WHILE IN "PARK" BECAUSE THE SHIFT BUTTON WILL NOT RETRACT AUTOMATICALLY AS DESIGNED (SHIFT-INTERLOCK SYSTEM BROKEN). I MUST MANUALLY RETRACT THE SHIFT BUTTON WHILE IN "PARK" TO REMOVE THE KEY. I MUST ALSO MANUALLY RETRACT THE SHIFT BUTTON WHILE IN "DRIVE" SO THAT THE SHIFTER CANNOT ACCIDENTALLY BE BUMPED OUT OF GEAR BY ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL CRD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE TWICE, IN JUNE 2011 AND AGAIN FIVE WEEKS LATER, FOR THE SAME RELATED FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRES WERE CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION VENT THAT RELEASED FLUID ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WHILE DRIVING, CAUSED THE FLUIDS TO LEAK AND CAUSE A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING EITHER FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE WAS A REPORTED AS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
THIS EVENING, I HAD A COLLISION WITH A CAR THAT WAS ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY, BUT PULLED OUT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES, BUT T-BONED THE OTHER VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. HER VEHICLE SUSTAINED MOST OF THE DAMAGE, AND I WAS ACTUALLY VERY IMPRESSED THAT MY LIBERTY DID NOT SUSTAIN AS MUCH DAMAGE AS I HAD EXPECTED. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT, BUT TO MY SURPRISE, MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DESPITE HITTING A VEHICLE THAT WAS ESSENTIALLY NOT EVEN MOVING. I LOVE MY JEEP, BUT HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY AIR BAG EVEN WORKS? LUCKILY I MADE IT THROUGH THIS ACCIDENT WITHOUT SEVERE INJURIES, BUT MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME. *TR
GASOLINE SPILLS OUT OF JEEP WHEN BEING FILLED. THE GAS HANDLE STOPS AUTOMATICALLY AND THEN GAS POURS OUT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE ATTENDANT POUR THE LITTER ON THE SPILL. OFTEN TIMES IT GETS ON ME. THIS HAPPENS OVERTIME I FILL UP REGARDLESS OF WHAT STATION! I AM UPSET TO SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY OTHER OWNERS. THIS SHOULD'VE A RECALL. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE FUEL SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK INSTEAD OF THE PUMP SHUTTING OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL FILLING STATIONS AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF FUELING NOZZLES. THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND MY SHOES AND PANTS WERE COVERED IN GAS. THE GAS STATION BAY WAS ALSO COVERED IN GAS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. SINCE THE FUEL PUMP WARNS ABOUT "RE-ENTERING A CAR" OR "USING A CELL PHONE" AROUND A GAS PUMP; HOW DANGEROUS IS DRIVING WITH CLOTHING COVERED IN GAS, SIDE OF THE CAR COVERED IN GAS AND HOW DANGEROUS IS LEAVING A GAS PUDDLE AT THE STATION? CHRYSLER APPARENTLY IS REPLACING SOME TANKS OR PUTTING IN AN "EXTENSION" VALVE ON SOME CARS, BUT MINE IS NOT UNDER THEIR WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT ONLY A FIRE HAZARD, BUT A HEALTH ISSUE AS WELL! *TR
WE HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY THAT WE PURCHASED NEW. SINCE THAT POINT THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY FALLEN DOWN FIVE TIMES. 3 TIMES THE WINDOWS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, THE LAST TWO TIMES JEEP HAS REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE REPAIR COST IS APPROX $400 EACH TIME AND THEY REPLACE THE BROKEN PART WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART THAT BREAKS AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT WITH 74,000 MILES. FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS NEED REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF CORROSION. IF NOT REPLACED THE WHEELS MAY FALL OFF CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT MAY LEAD TO DEATH. THIS ISSUE WAS FOUND INADVERTENTLY WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DRIVE ANY DIFFERENTLY OR MAKE ANY PARTICULAR NOISES THAT MIGHT ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2005 AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED AS AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLE. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. HAVING THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED WILL COST UPWARDS OF $1000.00. *TR
THE FUEL TANK ON MY LIBERTY SPEWS GAS WHEN FILLING (MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED). I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP, AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THEY WOULD REPLACE THE GAS TANK IF I PAY A $500.00 COPAY, WHICH TO THEM IS A "ONE TIME GESTURE OF GOOD WILL", AND TO ME IS UNACCEPTABLE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ON CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IT'S MY OPINION IS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THE FUEL TANKS REPLACED AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION - WARRANTY OR NOT. APPARENTLY, JEEP DOESN'T REGARD GAS FLYING IN YOUR FACE AS THEIR PROBLEM, AND I'M SHOCKED AND APPALLED THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FIX IT.

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I'VE HAD MULTIPLE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES (LEAVING MY CAR OPEN TO THEFT AND DAMAGE), SEAT BELT BROKEN, AND AIR CONDITION COMPRESSOR, AND REAR AXEL PROBLEMS. ALL ISSUES HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR
EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL IN MY LIBERTY, GAS SPRAYS EVERYWHERE. IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME I START FUELING. IT ALSO DOES IT WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. I LOSE A LEAST 1/2 GALLON EVERY TIME I FILL UP. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. IF THERE'S NOTHING WRONG, HOW DO I GET COVERED IN GAS EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL IN? IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING. I DID GET A RECALL N46 FOR THE FUEL TANK, BUT THEIR WAY OF FIXING IT, IS TO PUT ON A TRAILER HITCH. THAT DOES NOTHING TO FIX THE OVERFLOW ISSUE. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON (MEANING THE AIRBAG IS OFF) WHEN THERE IS NO WEIGHT ON THE SEAT. THIS IS CONCERNING BECAUSE WHEN AN ADULT SEATS IN THE SEAT, THE LIGHT WILL TURN OFF BUT WILL THE AIRBAG BE TURNED ON? THE SEAT IS SUPPOSED TO DETECT A CHILD AND TURN OFF THE AIRBAG. HOWEVER, IT IS JUST TURNING OFF. *TR

WE HAD THIS JEEP FROM DAY ONE. WHEN YOU FILL THE TANK IT WORKED GREAT UNTIL ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. NOW WHEN YOU FILL THE THANK AT THE VERY END OF FUELING IT WILL KICK GAS ALL OVER THE OUT SIDE OF THE CAR AND IF YOU ARE STANDING NEAR IT YOU WILL BE COVERED. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAY IT IS THE TANK AND THAT I WILL NEED A NEW GAS TANK. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY JEEP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS OVERHEATED CAUSING THE PLASTIC INSIDE TO MELT. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE STARTER AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THERE WERE ALUMINUM PIECES THAT FRACTURED IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PARTS NEEDED WERE ON BACKORDER. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS IGNORING THE ISSUE WHICH HE STATED WAS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED TWICE SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,100. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

SINCE BUYING MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY NEW 6 YEARS AGO...I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE MECHANISM THAT KEEPS THE WINDOWS UP EIGHT TIMES. OUT OF THAT 8 TIMES, JEEP HAS MADE ME PAY FOR 4 OF THEM! OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART...SHAME ON JEEP! *TR

THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN REPORTED AGAIN AND AGAIN TO THE NHTSA BY MANY PEOPLE AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO FIX THESE VEHICLES. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DESIGN PROBLEM. (AND CIGARETTES ARE NOT HARMFUL EITHER). *TR
AFTER FILLING THE CAR WITH GAS THERE ARE STRONG FUEL ODORS INSIDE THE CABIN. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME THE CAR IS REFUELED. *TR

ON SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2011, MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOWOUT THAT WAS ASSOCIATED TO A JEEP CONFIRMED FAULTY REAR SET OF BRAKE CALIPERS AND ROTORS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN ON FOUR PREVIOUS OCCASIONS REGARDING A "LOUD SCRAPING AND GRINDING" NOISE FROM THE REAR TIRES AND A BURNING ODOR. ON ALL OCCASIONS, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. AFTER THE INCIDENT ON MARCH 11TH THAT DROVE ME OFF THE ROAD AND IN TO A DITCH, I CONTACTED THE JEEP CORPORATE OFFICES. MY CASE WAS ESCALATED TO A SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS TEAM WHO DISPATCHED A FIELD ENGINEER FROM JEEP. THE ENGINEER ASSESSED THE JEEP ON THAT FRIDAY AND TOOK PHOTOS FOR CORPORATE. AFTER ~5 DAYS, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AT JEEP CORPORATE WHO INFORMED ME THAT, INDEED, THE ISSUE THAT I HAVE BEEN ATTESTING FOR THE PAST FOUR MONTHS WAS A CRITICAL ISSUE AND DID INVOLVE BRAKE CALIPERS AND ROTORS THAT WERE FUSED TOGETHER AND COULD LEAD TO A "FIRE AND POSSIBLY AND ACCIDENT" AFTER A RUDE CONVERSATION WITH THE AGENT WHO INDICATED THAT I "WAS PISSY", THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT IN ORDER TO RECEIVE REPAIRS, I WOULD NEED TO REMOVE ANY LIABILITY FORM JEEP BY VERBALLY AUTHORIZING THE REPAIR. THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THE CASE. SINCE THEN, JEEP HAS HELD MY VEHICLE AND WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY UPDATES. THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAS MY VEHICLE AND ALL SUPPORTING AREAS ARE BOUND TO CONFIDENTIALITY TO THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR 8 DAYS. MOST INTRIGUINGLY, I HAVE A SERVICE CONTRACT THAT COVERS THIS ISSUE AND JEEP REFUSES TO REPAIR THE ISSUE, INDICATING THAT THIS IS A LEGAL ISSUE AND A MEMBER OF THEIR TEAM "WILL RETURN MY CALL" WHICH I HEAR EVERY DAY. FROM THIS, I HAVE DETERMINED THAT THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE THAT JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND LEAVES ME NO RECOURSE THAN TO EXPLORE OTHER AVENUES TO GET MY CAR BACK (REPAIRED) AND TO FOLLOW-THROUGH ON THEIR CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS FOR A SAFE CAR. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARM AND BUSHINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 177,000.
1. POOR MATERIAL SELECTION FOR TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR VALVE STEM. STEMS ARE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND WITH ROAD SALT THEY CORRODE AND CRACK WHEN PRESSURE GAUGES OR AIR HOSES ARE CONNECTED. 2. SPARE TIRE SENSOR ALWAYS REPORTS LOW PRESSURE NO MATTER PRESSURE OR WHICH TIRE IS MOUNTED ON SPARE TIRE HOLDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE REAR WHEELS SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CURB. THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, GAS STARTED VIOLENTLY SPLASHING BACK OUT OF THE GAS TANK AT THE END OF EVERY FILL-UP. I INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN AND WELL-DOCUMENTED WITH A FAULTY INLET TUBE CHECK VALVE. I DON'T TRY TO OVERLY TOP OFF THE TANK OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THIS IS NOT A USER ISSUE. I JUST BOUGHT A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED WITH 90K MILES. MY LAST TWO FILLUPS AT DIFFERENT PUMPS RESULTED IN THE PUMP SHUTTING OFF BUT GAS SPILLING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ONCE WAS WITH THE AUTOPUMP LEVER ENGAGED AND ONCE WAS WHILE HOLDING THE PUMP LEVER MANUALLY. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL TO PROTECT CONSUMERS FROM EXPOSURE AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT. CONSIDER THE AMOUNT OF VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM DUMPING GAS ON THE GROUND ON A DAILY BASIS. IT COULD BE A STAGGERING AMOUNT OF GAS. *TR
EVERY TIME I GO TO FILL MY JEEP UP, THE GAS TANK OVER FLOWS. IT SHUTS OFF AFTER A SECOND OR TWO, BUT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS THAT GOES ON THE FLOOR, AND ALL OVER MY CAR! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, A CLUNKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE TRAILING ARM FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SIX MONTHS LATER. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT A CLUNKING NOISE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TRAILING ARM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE REFUELING, GASOLINE WILL SPLASH FROM THE FILLER NECK AT THE TIME THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME WE REFUEL, AND WE REFUEL AT MANY DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN THE PUMP AS THE LAST GALLON GOES IN, AND EVEN THIS HAS NOT CONSISTENTLY BEEN SUCCESSFUL. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE AMOUNT SPILLED TO BE AN OUNCE.
FUEL OVERFLOWS - EVERY TIME FUELING UP GAS SHUTS OFF AND FLOWS BACKUP AND OUT SPILLING OUT OVER WHOEVER IS FILLING IT. SHUT OFF (BAFFLE IS NOT CLOSING) TO KEEP THE FUEL FROM COMING BACK OUT. EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. PAST DUE FOR RECALL !!!! *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2005 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE IN JUNE 2005 ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT FLASHED FOR WEEKS THEN WENT ON SOLID. ASKED DEALER TO CHECK, THEY ADDED AIR AND IT WENT OUT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT THE DEALER THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED. I ADDED AIR IT WENT OUT AND THEN IT REPEATED. EVENTUALLY THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ILLUMINATED. FIVE YEARS LATER I JUST DRIVE WITH THE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED SINCE NOONE (DEALER/PRIVATE GARAGE/TIRE STORE) AND NOTHING (ADD AIR/NEW TIRES/NEW SENSORS ($120 EACH) FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND CRASHED. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH WAS BLACK ICE, BUT THE CONTACT BELEIVED THAT THE CRASH WAS CAUSED BY A LOSS OF CONTROL IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAS RECENTLY QUIT WORKING ON THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS ON MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE WINDOWS JUST FELL DOWN. BECAUSE THE REGULATOR IS NOT WORKING, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS BACK UP. UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS REPAIRED, THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND KEEP THE WINDOWS CLOSED IS TO TAPE THEM IN PLACE. I AM EXTREMELY AFRAID SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS PARKED AND/OR AT A STOP. THE VEHICLE IS TRULY NOT SAFE AND SECURE AS LONG AS I CANNOT ROLL THE WINDOWS UP 100%. *TR
WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK AND LET THE PUMP DO THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF IT OVERFLOWS. GAS LEAKS OUT OF THE TANK, ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR, ON THE GROUND AND SOMETIMES ON MYSELF. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND LEAVES A GAS SMELL IN THE CAR FOR AT LEAST A DAY. *TR
WHEN I FILL THE CAR WITH GAS, GAS SPURTS OUT OF THE PUMP AFTER IT SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS REFUSED TO DO A RECALL FOR THE FIX. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK AT A COST OF OVER $1,200
BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER, 2010, EACH TIME I PUT GAS INTO MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY, THE PUMP DID NOT STOP IN TIME AND GAS SPILLED OUT ALL OVER THE CAR, ON THE GROUND, AND ON ME. AS OF TODAY, DECEMBER 10, 2010, IS HAS NOW HAPPENED 6 TIMES AT 6 DIFFERENT PUMPS AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS INDICATING THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT CREATING TOXIC RUNOFF AND IS HARMFUL TO ME AS I BREATHE IN THE FUMES. *TR
