MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING FROM VACATION WHEN WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING OVER A WASH BOARD SURFACE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN CAME A LOUD BANG AND THEN NO POWER. THE VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT BRIEFLY (WE WERE IN THE PASSING LANE). I STRUGGLED TO GET THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND SHUT IT DOWN. THERE WAS A TRAIL OF OIL ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT CONTINUED POUR OI OUT OF THE ENGINE AFTER I STOPPED. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE CAR WAS RUNNING CORRECTLY AND NONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON UNTIL AFTER THE EVENT. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS AT ITS USUAL TWELVE O'CLOCK POSITION. ONCE OFF THE ROAD I OPENED THE HOOD. THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THE TENSIONER PULLEY HAD BEEN RIPPED OFF THE ENGINE. WITH A FLASHLIGHT, I COULD SEE THE FRONT FEW INCHES OF THE FRONT SKIDPLATE. THE WERE FRAGMENTS OF METAL ON IT ALONG WITH OIL. I CHECKED THE OIL FILTER UNDER THE CAR AND IT WAS INTACT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO GATOR CHRYSLER-JEEP IN MELBOURNE, FL. THE CAR WAS EXAMINED ON 11/30/2010 BY THE DIESEL TECH WHO TOLD US THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE OF THESE ENGINES FAIL LIKE THIS. HE ALSO TOLD US THAT HE HAD SPOKEN TO A CHRYSLER ENGINEER AND THAT ENGINEER SAID MUCH THE SAME. THE TECH TOLD US THAT HE HAD FOUND TWO HOLES IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THAT THE SKIDPLATE WAS COVERED WITH SHRAPNEL FROM THE ENGINE. THE TECH ALSO TOLD US THAT THE OIL PAN LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE HAD TAKEN A SHOTGUN TO IT. A DEALER SERVICE WRITER SHOWED ME AT LEAST ONE OF THE OTHER HOLES FOUND TOWARD THE BACK OF THE BLOCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I PUT IN A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER. IT WAS REJECTED. THEY CLAIM "INSUFFICIENT LUBRICATION". ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT GATOR, THEY DID NOT OPEN UP THE ENGINE TO SEE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED AS CHRYSLER WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE SUCH ACTIVITY. FUEL SPILL EVERYTIME WHEN FILL MY JEEP LIBERTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THE CRASH. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FRONT SUSPENSION REPAIRED. THERE HAD BEEN NO ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AT 35 MILES/HOUR, THE 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL. THE VEHICLE TURNED LEFT AND THEN AROUND, AND STOPPED ON THE OPPOSITE LANE. IT WAS RAINING AND THE ROAD WAS WET. NO HARD BRAKE OR ACCELERATION BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED. NO INJURIES. THE ENGINE SEEMED ON BUT THE ACCELERATOR DIDN'T WORK. HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY AND RESTART IT. THEN EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING. COULDN'T VISUALLY SEE ANYTHING WRONG FROM THE OUTSIDE OR UNDER THE HOOD. ALL FLUID LEVELS WERE NORMAL. SCARED TO DEATH. THE VEHICLE HAD NO ANY ISSUES BEFORE. IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN WORKING FINE. IT ONLY HAD ~55K MILES ON IT. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL. FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR LEAKS FUEL THROUGH THE HEATER ELECTRICAL LINES. KNOWN FIRE HAZARD THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECALLED. RAW FUEL RUNS OUT THE LIVE ELECTRICAL HEATER LINES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND COLLIDED WITH A TELEPHONE POLE WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AS A RESULT. THE CONTACT COULD NOT REMEMBER IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS HAVE DIFFICULTY LOCKING AND THEY CONTINUALLY UNLATCHED WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR RECURRINGLY FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REGULATOR CLIP WAS FRACTURED. THE REGULATOR CLIP WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
POWER WINDOW HAS FAILED AND ALLOWED THE GLASS TO FALL INSIDE THE DOOR ON THREE DIFFERENT WINDOWS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MY GASOLINE 2005 LIBERTY ON THREE OCCASIONS BEGINNING IN 2010 AND ON MY DIESEL 2005 LIBERTY, ONCE IN 2011. *TR
MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED 4WD OVERFLOWS ITS FUEL TANK EVERY TIME IT IS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT, AND THIS PROBLEM HAS APPEARED CONSISTENTLY EACH OF THE LAST 5 TIMES I HAVE REFUELED. THE FUEL WILL CONTINUE TO FILL AND THEN OVERFLOW THE TANK UNLESS MANUALLY STOPPED. THE PROBLEM OCCURS REGARDLESS OF WHERE THE FUELING OCCURS; ANY FUEL PUMP CAUSES THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM MUST LIE IN THE FUEL TANK SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE ITSELF. *TR
ALL WINDOWS IN DOORS HAVE FALLEN DOWN AND CANNOT BE CLOSED. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHILE REFUELING AND SPLASHING GASOLINE ALL OVER CAR, GROUND AND PERSON (IF NEARBY). HUGE SAFETY AND FIRE ISSUE. SHUTOFF DOESN'T ENGAGE AND HAPPENS BOTH DURING THE FILLING PROCESS OR WHEN FULL. PULLING NOZZLE OUT SOME DOES NOT HELP PROBLEM. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE DOESN'T NOT MATTER. LIVE IN COLORADO WITH BOTH HOT AND COLD, SAME ISSUE. DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND ON JEEP BLOGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX BEFORE SOMEONE CATCHES FIRE OR A STATION BLOWS UP. I AM SURE THE GAS STATION OWNERS WOULD BE HAPPY TO JOIN CONSUMERS IN GETTING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION FIXED FOR EVERYONE'S SAKE. *TR
JEEP LIBERTY 2005 WINDOWS. 2 OUT OF 4 WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN AND NO LONGER CAN BE CLOSED. THE WINDOWS FELL ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT HITTING AND BUMPS OR POT HOLES WHILE DRIVING. THE WINDOW MOTOR HUMS BUT THE WINDOWS WILL NOT MOVE UP OR DOWN. THIS IS A RECURRINGROBLEM FOR JEEP AND WE ASK THE COMPANY TO RECALL AND CORRECT THIS MATTER. IT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE COMPANY SO THEY DO NOT CONTINUE TO LOSE THE CONFIDENCE OF THEIR COSTUMERS. *TR
MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPEWS GAS AFTER FILLING UP EVERY TIME. ESTIMATE WAS $1800 TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY.
REAR, DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FALLS DOWN INTO DOOR AND CANNOT BE LIFTED USING SWITCH. THE SAME WINDOW HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE ALREADY ONCE IN MARCH 08 THEN AGAIN MARCH 09. JEEP REIMBURSED ME 1/2 FOR FIRST REPAIR AND 100% FOR SECOND. I HAVE REQUESTED JEEP PAY FOR REPAIR AGAIN BUT DO NOT YET KNOW IF THEY WILL. *TR
MY REAR DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW HAD BROKEN TWICE ON MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. IT SEEMS AS IF IT COMES OFF IT'S TRACK AND THE WINDOW MOVES FREELY IN THE FRAME. IT FALLS DOWN INTO THE INNER PART OF THE DOOR WHEN I HIT A BUMP. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE BEFORE FOR A RATHER LARGE FEE. I HAVE HEARD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME DESCRIPTION FROM OTHER DRIVERS OF JEEP LIBERTY'S FROM ALL OF THE POWER WINDOWS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT IS NOT FAIR THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR BAD ENGINEERING ON THE PART OF CHRYSLER. *TR

GAS TANK OVERFILLS AND SPILLS GASOLINE ON EVERY FILLUP, STARTED OCCURRING AT UNDER 70K MILES. *TR
WE HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY THAT SPONTANEOUSLY RELEASES THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WHILE DRIVING. IT "CLICKS" INTO PLACE (FINE) AND HOLDS TIGHT WHEN YOU PULL ON IT, BUT WILL INTERMITTENTLY UNLATCH WITHOUT TOUCHING IT. IT DOES NOT EXHIBIT ANY CONSISTENT PATTERN AS TO ITS DEFECTIVE BEHAVIOR WHEN RELEASING. JUST DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE ON THE BELT WILL ALLOW IT TO COME UNDONE. *TR
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GAS SPLASHES OR SPITS BACK OUT OF THE GAS TANK PRIOR TO THE GAS STATION PUMP TURNING OFF. THE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT SPLASHES OR SPITS OUT OF THE TANK VARIES BUT OCCURS 100% OF THE TIME AT ALL GAS STATIONS. THE SLASHED VOLUME APPEARS TO BE A FEW OUNCES UP TO A QUART AND HAS SPLASHED BACK UP TO A DISTANCE OF 24". THE GAS USUALLY SPLASHES ON THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND ON THE GROUND AND WILL SPLASH ON THE OPERATOR IF HE/SHE IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE TANK OR HOLDING THE PUMP. THE GAS HAS SPLASHED/SPIT BACK ON ME A FEW TIMES. THE FAILURE OCCURS REGARDLESS OF THE PUMPING SPEED - IT OCCURS WITH THE PUMP ON THE TOP NOTCH (FAST), THE BOTTOM NOTCH (SLOW), ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN AND ALSO IF YOU FILL IT MANUALLY WITHOUT THE NOTCHES. THE VEHICLE IS NEVER "TOPPED OFF'." *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY, AUTOMATIC, WITH 71K MILES. TRAVELING ON FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN SUDDEN LOUD "THUD" FOLLOWED BY FORWARD JERKING MOTION. DISENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL. WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DESTINATION. ON RETURN, JEEP STARTED BUT WILL NOT MOVE IN ANY GEAR. TOWED TO REPAIR CENTER. DIAGNOSIS SHOWED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED BUT NOT DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE OR DRIVING HABITS. TRANSMISSION JUST FAILED. REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS ON BACKORDER FROM JEEP FOR TWO WEEKS AS OF THIS WRITING. I WILL WRITE TO CHRYSLER AS TRANSMISSION ARE NOT TO JUST FAIL AFTER 71K MILES. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *TR
WHILE REFUELING GAS WILL OVERFLOW THE FILLER TUBE, SPLASHING ANYWHERE FROM A PINT TO A QUART OF FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENS ON EVERY FILL UP. THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT IT IS TO GUESS WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS NEARLY FULL AND LISTEN FOR THE FUEL TO APPROACH THE TOP OF THE FILLER TUBE WITH THE FUEL FLOW FROM THE PUMP AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE. THE OTHER ALTERNATIVE IS TO NOT FILL THE TANK TO FULL, GUESSING ABOUT WHERE THE FUEL LEVEL IS BY PUTTING YOUR EAR CLOSE TO THE FILLER HOLE. IN EITHER CASE THERE IS STILL DANGER OF SPILLING FUEL ONTO THE GROUND AND ON THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE OTHER SIDE EFFECT ARE HIGH LEVELS OF FUEL VAPOR SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THIS SMELL PERSISTS FOR QUITE SOME TIME EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS IN THE DOWN POSITION. THIS HAPPENS EVERY FILL UP AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. DOESN'T MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I GO TO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN THE LOWER BALL JOINTS BEGAN RUBBING TOGETHER AND MAKING AN UNUSUAL CLANKING NOISE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL RELATIVE TO THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM: LOWER BALL JOINT) BUT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER IN 2006. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT HIS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.
2005 JEEP LIBERTY POWER STEERING HOSE FAILED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING !! *TR
WHEN REFUELING, THE PUMP ROUTINELY DOESN'T SHUT OFF UNTIL GAS HAS OVERFLOWED THE TANK ONTO THE GROUND AND WHO EVER IS PUMPING THE GAS. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY GAS STATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN IT RAINED WATER PENETRATED THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD CAUSING THE CARPET TO MILDEW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NOT THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS HAD NEVER BEEN PERFORMED. SHE REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V288000, SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE IF THEY ASSIST HER WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,032.
FUEL GAS TANKS OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING AT GAS STATION. YOU CAN NOT JUST STICK THE NOZZLE IN AND LET IT FILL NORMALLY. IF YOU DO SO, GAS WILL SPILL OUT WHICH IT IS DANGEROUS SINCE A FIRE OR EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR EASILY. MANUFACTURER DOES NOT WANT TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY AND SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BACK LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF 1ST GEAR. IT'S DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, RED LIGHTS UPHILL. IT IS UNSAFE FOR THE CAR TO DROP OUT OF GEAR AND LOOSES POWER WHEN IT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE LEADS TO A LOT OF 'NEAR MISSES' FROM DRIVERS BEHIND WHO EXPECT TO ROLL FORWARD AS NORMAL OR FLOWING TRAFFIC WHO DON'T EXPECT A CAR TO STOP IN FRONT OF THEM. MECHANICS SAY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED, AND WHILE THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT UNDER THE WARRANTY (WHICH AT THE TIME IT WAS STILL UNDER). IN VARIOUS JEEP FORUMS, I'VE SEEN OTHER USERS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. AT ONE POINT THERE WAS TALK OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT - BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE IS UNDOUBTEDLY DATA AROUND THIS. LOOK AT HOW MANY JEEP ACCIDENTS HAPPEN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF STARTING (FROM A STOP SIGN, LIGHT, UP-HILL, ETC). I BET MOST ACCIDENTS HAPPEN FROM BEHIND, OR FROM THE SIDE (WHILE MERGING).
THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THAT I HAVE HAD A WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME ON THE SAME WINDOW. I HAVE HEARD THAT IT IS CAUSED FROM OVERUSE BUT THE ONLY WINDOW REGULATOR THAT HAS NOT YET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IS MY DRIVER WINDOW WHICH IS THE ONE I USE THE MOST! THIS OBVIOUSLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT IS SIMPLY A FAULTY PART THAT THEY DO NOT FEEL IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO FIND A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR. I FEAR THAT IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM ON VACATION OR SOMETHING AND A STORM WILL RUIN MY CAR WITHOUT MY KNOWING OR MY CAR WILL BE "BROKEN" INTO OR EVEN STOLEN. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES BUT NOT EVERYONE KNOWS TO REPORT IT. I HOPE THAT ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME FAULTY PART WILL MAKE THEM DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL BLOWS OUT SOAKING MY HAND/ARM, SIDE OF CAR, PUDDLE ON GROUND CONSISTENTLY. I'M UNABLE TO FILL THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THIS OCCURRING. THIS IS NOT A FIRST REPORTING OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX 55-60 MPH, DRIVER DEPRESSED BRAKES TO QUICKLY SLOW DOWN TO AVOID THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH HAD SLOWED AND WAS TURNING. REAR BRAKES ON VEHICLE LOCKED CAUSING VEHICLE TO SCREECH, TIRES TO SMOKE AND VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND IN A CIRCLE AND CROSS CENTER LINE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS A CLEAN, DRY HIGHWAY AT APPROX 5:45 PM. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE AREA BESIDES THE ONE IN FRONT. HAD AN AUTOMOBILE BEEN BEHIND THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY FROM THE SCENE. ABS LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THE INCIDENT, BUT DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE NEXT TIME ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER. ABS LIGHT WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN OPERATED SINCE IT WAS RE-STARTED 2 HOURS AFTER INCIDENT AND DRIVEN ABOUT 6 MILES HOME. *TR
REAR WINDOWS ON BOTH THE DRIVE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DROP INTO THE DOOR PANEL WHILE DRIVING - MECHANIC SAID IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY REGULATOR BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM FRIGHTENED SINCE THIS A HUGE SAFETY AND THEFT HAZARD! *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR ON REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED. REGULATOR FAILURE PREVENTED THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FROM OPENING AND MADE THE DOOR INOPERABLE AS AN EXIT. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY CRD PRE- HEATER WAS LEAKING AND STARTED A FIRE ON THE CONNECTOR. ORDER NEW PARTS TO REPLACE HEATER AND THEY HAVE RE-DESIGNED IT. THIS IS DODGE ADMITTING TO A PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY TURBO DIESEL. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM SMOKE INHALATION AND OTHER MINOR UNKNOWN INJURIES. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL HEATER UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT FILED A CLAIM WITH THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN EXACT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT'S CLAIM WAS DENIED. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

I HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. I HAVE HAD ALL 4 WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL AND 2 OF THEM FAIL TWICE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ONE TIME AND THE REAR WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN. I NEVER EVER EVEN USE THE REAR WINDOWS! PLEASE HELP! *TR
REAR LEFT WHEEL CALIPER UP. 37,000 MILES IN THE CAR WITH BRAND NEW PADS AND ROTORS INSTALLED 200 MILES AGO. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY BACK REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO DOOR. WILL NOT GO UP AND NEEDS NEW REGULATOR. DEALERSHIP STATED IT WOULD COST $400 TO REPAIR. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I SEE THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND NO ONE EVER RIDES IN THE BACK SEAT. HONESTLY, THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE PROBABLY ONLY BEEN ROLLED DOWN TWICE. *TR
JEEP LIBERTY CRD. ENGINE WAS STALLING ON STARTUP. ODB CODE CAME ON AFTER A MONTH OF THIS "FUEL LEAK SEVERE". IT WAS LOOSING PRIME WHILE SITTING DUE TO AIR LEAKING IN. FOUND FUEL LEAK ON PRE-HEATER CONNECTOR TO FUEL WATER SEPARATOR HOUSING. FOUND SOME BURNT PLASTIC WHERE CONNECTOR WAS, CLEARLY IT GOT HOT/FIRE. I FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THIS ON-LINE. CONSIDERING THERE WERE REPORTEDLY LESS THEN 10,000 OF THESE BUILT, THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW EQUIPMENT FAILURE. WINDOW SLIDES TO AN OPEN POSITION WITHOUT ASSISTANCE - REMAINS OPEN & WILL NOT RESPOND TO MECHANISM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER HAD FAILED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING EMISSION FAILURES DUE TO UNKNOWN WIRES RUBBING AGAINST EMISSIONS TANK HOSES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE WOULD BE HIS RESPONSIBILITY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE EMISSIONS FAILURES HIMSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,288.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE CONTACT SUFFERED BROKEN RIBS, SEVERAL BRUISES AND CUTS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD FURTHER ASSESS THE FAILURE.
