TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS HAD FAILED IN EVERY WINDOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REGULATORS HAD TO BE REPLACED EIGHT TIMES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE REGULATOR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO REGARDING THE REGULATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW FAILED TO CLOSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON IT, BUT THREE OF THE WINDOWS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY FELL DOWN INTO THE WINDOW WELL. THE DRIVER WINDOW IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. EACH WINDOW HAS COST ME $400 TO REPLACE!! *TR
SLOW START WAS NOTED PRIOR TO INCIDENT (MOST LIKELY DUE TO AIR IN THE SYSTEM). JEEP LIBERTY CRD WENT INTO LIMP MODE ON HIGHWAY CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLOW BELOW 40 MPH. FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR WAS LEAKING FUEL FROM PRE-HEATER PLUG, WHICH SHORTED OUT HEATER PLUG. HEATER PLUG WAS SCORCHED ON THE INSIDE, NO FIRE NOTED. PARTS ON ORDER (APPROX COST $120 FOR PART) INTEND TO REPLACE FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR ASSEMBLY AND HEATER PLUG WIRING WHEN IT ARRIVES. OLD PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY DEFECTIVE AIRBAG: 3/28/08: AIRBAG LIGHT ON. DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED MODULE ("ABS SQUIB 2 CIRCUIT OPEN"). DEALER REFUSED TO COVER AS A SAFETY DEFECT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY AGREED TO REIMBURSE ME. (REF CHRYSLER FILE #17357511) 6/16/09: AIRBAG LIGHT ON AGAIN. DEALER FOUND "BROKEN WIRE BEHIND DASH AREA." THEY REFUSED TO COVER THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE." I CALLED AND THEN WROTE TO CHRSYLER AGAIN AS WIRES UNDER THE DASH DON'T JUST BREAK ALL BY THEMSELVES AND THIS WAS THE SECOND DEFECT WITH THIS AIRBAG. THEIR RESPONSE WAS "THINGS LIKE THIS JUST SOMETIMES HAPPEN" AND THEY REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR $276 (PLUS NYS TAX) FOR THIS REPAIR. THEIR VERBAL AND WRITTEN RESPONSES WERE THE SAME. (REF THEIR FILE #18718373) [THE DEALER ALSO LEFT THE WIRES HANGING OUT AT THE BACK OF THE CENTER CONSOLE WHEN WE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE JUNE 2009 REPAIR; FURTHER EVIDENCE OF SHODDY WORKMANSHIP. WE HAD TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN FOR THEM TO FIX THAT (NO CHARGE)]. I HAVE ALL THE CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE 2008 AND 2009 REPAIRS. I FEEL CHRYSLER IS NEGLIGENT IN ACCEPTING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONTINUED DEFECTIVE AIRBAG SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL THEY SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE JUNE 2009 REPAIR. THERE HAD BEEN NO ACCIDENTS OR REPAIRS TO CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE IS WELL CARED FOR AND WELL MAINTAINED. ALL CORRESPONDENCE IS AVAILABLE FOR MAILING OR FAXING TO YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOWS FELL INTO THE DOORPANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACE THE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FOR EACH WINDOW. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR WINDOW HAD TO BE REPLACED OVER THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT REGULATOR THAT THE DEALERS WERE USING TO REMEDY THE ISSUE WERE DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
2005 JEEP LIBERY REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER WINDOW FUNCTION AND INABILITY TO KEEP WINDOW CLOSED. REGULATOR WAS REPLACED AT COST TO OWNER. AT APPROX SAME TIME, REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR FAILED, WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO COST. *TR
MY DAUGHTER HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING AND ALTHOUGH SHE HIT HEAD ON AND THE HOOD BUCKLED HER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID HER SEAT BELT RESTRAIN HER. SHE DID NOT HAVE ANY SEVERE INJURY, DIDN'T HIT THE STIRRING WHEEL OR HER HEAD BUT SHE HAS MINOR NECK PAIN AT THE MOMENT AND I AM TAKING HER TO THE HOSPITAL AS A PRECAUTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH HER WINDOWS ROLLING UP AND DOWN. HER DOOR HANDLES HAVE BEEN FALLING OFF AS WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THEY HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR THE PROBLEMS TO BE REPAIRED BUT NOTHING HAD BEEN REPAIRED.THE CONTACT STATED HER GRANDCHILDREN HAVE TO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE AND SHE DOES NOT FEEL AS IF IT IS SAFE. THE GENERAL MANAGER HAD NOT YET LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE BUT IS STATING THAT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE DOOR HANDLES BECAUSE THE CONTACT HAS ABUSED THE DOOR HANDLES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH PROCEEDING TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOSS CONTROL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL AND CONTINUE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V085000 (SUSPENSION:REAR); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
AT LEAST A YEAR AGO I VERBALLY NOTIFIED JOHN ELWAY JEEP-WEST, NOW GO, THAT WHEN ADDING GASOLINE AT THE FILLING STATION THE AUTO-SHUT-OFF DID NOT WORK AND ALLOWED THE TANK TO OVERFLOW ONTO MY PERSON, THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CEMENT. I WAS TOLD THE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE DRAINED BEFORE A DETERMINATION COULD BE MADE. I DID PURCHASE FUEL FROM THREE FILLING STATIONS PROVING THE OVERFLOWING WAS NOT A RESULT OF THE EQUIPMENT PUMPING GASOLINE INTO MY VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN AT A STOP, I PUT THE CAR INTO FIRST GEAR. A LOT OF TIMES, NOT ALL THE TIME, IT WILL VIOLENTLY POP OUT OF GEAR. I THEN PUT IT BACK IN GEAR, AND DRIVE AWAY. I CAN AVOID THIS BY PUT IT IN TO FIRST GEAR AS I GLIDE TO A STOP, OR BY CREEPING THE JEEP IN 2ND GEAR AND THEN GO BACK TO 1ST. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME NOW. THE POP OUT OF GEAR SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE MY TRANSMISSION FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY CAR, BUT AFTER REVIEWING THE BLOGS, NOTICED ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR 6 SPEED MANUAL JEEP. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY REAR PASSENGER SIDE AUTO WINDOW FAILED @ 55K. WINDOW DROPS 3 INCHES AND WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN. DEALER SAYS NOT COVERED. *TR
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE COOLING FAN, THREE WINDOW MOTORS, THE ALTERNATOR, HEAD GASKETS, THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR IS BROKEN, THE OIL SENSOR IS BROKEN, WHEN I PUMP GAS IT SPILLS OUT, THE RADIATOR, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. THE TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK PROPERLY AND I HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE LIGHTS AND FUSES AS WELL AS THE SOCKETS NUMEROUS TIMES. THESE ARE JUST THE THINGS I CAN THINK OF OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. I'VE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, LITERALLY, ON THIS CAR. I FEEL LIKE IT'S A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I AM ABLE TO PURCHASE SOMETHING ELSE, IT WON'T BE A JEEP PRODUCT. JEEP DOESN'T CARE IF YOU HAVE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THEIR PRODUCT. WHEN I FIRST STARTED HAVING ISSUES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM TO TALK TO MY SALESMAN AND I WAS ASKED WHAT MY MILEAGE WAS. I WAS RIGHT AROUND 48,000 MILES, I WAS PUT OFF NUMEROUS TIMES AND TOLD HE WOULD BE WHO I WOULD NEED TO DEAL WITH. AFTER I HIT THE 50,000 MARK THEY INFORMED ME HE HAD BEEN MURDERED AND I WAS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY. EACH PASSING DAY SEEMS TO BRING NEW PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I JUST THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOULD FINALLY KNOW. I'M ALSO NOT COUNTING THE RECALLS IN ON MY LIST OF ISSUES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VIN. THE CONTACT DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY OPEN INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
INCREASINGLY, GAS PUMP AUTO SHUT OFFS FAIL. AT THIS POINT, 100% OF THE TIME, THE GAS PUMP AUTO SHUTOFF FAILS, SPILLING SEVERAL OUNCES OF FUEL ON TO THE VEHICLE SIDE AND THE GROUND BENEATH IT. *TR
IN LATE 2008 AND EARLY 2009 OUR PAINT ON THE TOP OF OUR VEHICLE BEGAN TO PEEL, WE HAD ALWAYS HAD OUR VEHICLE IN A CARPORT AS OF NOW THE ENTIRE TOP HAS PEELED OFF, FROM WHAT I CAN TELL IT IS THE CLEAT COAT. I HAD BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF A JEEP DEALERSHIP AFTER A RECALL ONCE. *TR
GASOLINE SPILLS OUT OF THE VEHICLE'S FUEL FILLER NECK UPON COMPLETION OF A FULL TANK REFILLING. INITIALLY, THIS SEEMED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT REGARD TO GAS STATION OR PARTICULAR FUEL PUMP. NOW AT 114,000 MILES, THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP. *TR
THE 2005 JEEP LIBERTY IN WHICH WE WERE RIDING ACCELERATED WHILE I WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, I THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS I HAD HIT THE ACCELERATOR ACCIDENTALLY. THE SECOND TIME (THE VERY NEXT TIME WE STARTED THE JEEP), I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW OUR DESCENT DOWN A LONG DRIVEWAY. I AM POSITIVE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE JEEP LUNGED FORWARD AND PICKED UP SPEED. THE ONLY WAY I COULD STOP WAS TO TURN INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE JEEP OVERTURNED. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 26, 2008 AND WAS REPORTED THAT DAY TO THE POLICE AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THE 2010 TOYOTA INCIDENTS HAVE PROMPTED ME TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT, BUT THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED A YEAR EARLIER. AGAIN, I REPEAT: THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; THIS WAS NOT A CASE OF ACCIDENTALLY HITTING THE ACCELERATOR. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. MAJOR SNOW STORM AND TRYING TO GET HOME FROM WORK. PUT THE CAR INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE, SHAFT BROKE FROM INTERNAL CONNECTOR AND NOW IT IS PERMANENTLY STUCK IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. 4WHEEL DRIVE IS HORRIBLE, SPUN OUT GOING 10 MILES PER HOUR WHILE GOING UP HILL, ALMOST GOT STRUCK BY A TRUCK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THAT IT IS WIDELY KNOWN AMONG THE INDUSTRY THAT THE JEEP LIBERTY HAS A POORLY DESIGNED AND FAULTY 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM BUT JEEP REFUSES TO RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON MONDAY NIGHT, AT AROUND 8:30PM, I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, TAKING A LEFT, AND FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR, MY FRIEND AND I HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE, THEN SOME LOUD GRINDING NOISE AFTER. I QUICKLY SHIFTED THE CAR TO PARK, JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR THINKING THAT I HAD A FLAT TIRE. THE TIRES WERE INTACT. MY CAR REFUSED TO BUDGE, EVEN AFTER THE POLICE CAME AND WE HAD PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, AND TRIED TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OF TWO ROADS. THE CAR REFUSED TO BUDGE. RIGHT AFTER THE GETTING OUT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THERE THE CAR HAD BEGUN TO LEAK FROM UNDER THE HOOD ONTO THE GROUND. I HAD TO CALL TRIPLE A TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP - GRAVA JEEP DEALERSHIP - AND THE NEXT DAY, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THAT IT WAS THE LOWER BALL JOINTS - WHICH WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE JEEP LIBERTY '05, AND BECAUSE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD SEPARATED, IT HAD CAUSED RIM DAMAGE TO THE CAR, MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH - AS IT WOULD DAMAGE AND DEFLATE MY TIRE. THE POWER STEERING LINE WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE LEAKING, OF WHICH I HAD NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH UNTIL THE BALL JOINT HAD SEPARATED, AND THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE MOVED TO SAFETY (THAT WAS WHEN WE SAW THE LARGE PUDDLE OF LIQUID DRIPPING OUT OF THE CAR). GRAVA DEALERSHIP HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE DAMAGE TO THE RIM OR THE POWER STEERING, ALTHOUGH THE LOWER BALL JOINT CAUSED THE DAMAGE TO THE RIM WHEN IT BROKE APART, AND SAID BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY A POSSIBILITY THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT COULD HAVE CAUSED STRESS TO THE POWER STEERING, AND ISN'T DEFINITE, I WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE ENTIRE COSTS. I CALLED THE REIMBURSEMENT DEPARTMENT OF CHRYSLER EXPLAINING THE SITUATION AND THEY KEPT TRANSFERRING ME TO SUPERVISORS, SENIOR STAFF, OTHER CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVES, UNTIL FINALLY TODAY - 12/16 - I CALLED 2 MORE TIMES, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD ONLY COVER 25% OF THE RIM DAMAGE. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY LTD. - WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE ON FOUR (4) OCCASIONS NOW, THE GASOLINE SPEWS OUT OF THE FUEL TANK ONTO THE OWNER AND ALSO DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I SAW A REPORT WHERE THE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE AT ONE-QUARTER FULL FOR INSPECTION AND THAT THE FUEL TANK SHOULD BE INSPECTED BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO HAVE HAPPEN. THIS OWNER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER (JOHN ELWAY-WEST, NOW GO DEALERSHIP) TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR CHECKING OF THE GAS TANK, ETC. THIS VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 60,000 MILES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, A ONE AXLE TRAILER WAS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN EXTREMELY LOW POWER RESPONSE. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS POOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. IN 2007, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION); HOWEVER, IT HAS NOT CORRECTED THE ISSUE ADDRESSED IN THE SAFETY DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORSEPOWER WAS REDUCED AFTER THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS ROLLING DOWN THE LEFT REAR WINDOW (ELECTRIC) WHEN IT MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. AFTER THAT, IT WOULDN'T GO UP OR DOWN. THE WINDOW HASN'T BEEN ACTIVATED 5 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN 2005. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW WINDOW REGISTER. COST $145.00 AND $50.00 LABOR. BOTTOM LINE, 2005 JEEP LIBERTY, 38000 MILES, 3 YEARS OLD AND WINDOWS FAILING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO THE DOOR. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED THREE WEEKS LATER WITH THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WINDOWS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE CONTACT CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS. SHE HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE WINDOWS HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
WHEN FUELING OUR 2005 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED 2WD THE FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK ON THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY WITH THE FUEL BEING DISCHARGED BY HAND AND IN THE AUTOMATIC MODE ON THE FUELING NOZZLE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND MY WIFE ON AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS/INSTANCES. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP GREENBRIER CHRYSLER JEEP IN CHESAPEAKE VIRGINIA WHEN THE CURRENT FULL FUEL TANK IS AT 1/4 TANK SO IT CAN BE INSPECTED. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED THE FUEL SPRAYED ALL THE WAY TO THE PUMP NOT TO MENTION UP MY ARM AND ON MY FACE. *TR
2005 JEEP LIBERTY RECALL FOR LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW FAILED AND THE WINDOW AND THE UNLOCKING MECHANISM WILL NOT OPERATE. WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS, THE WINDOW WILL NOT RAISE AND THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL PARTS. THE REAR SIDED WINDOW AND LOCKING MECHANISM (REGULATOR) HAS FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM (DEFECT) WITH THESE JEEP LIBERTIES. IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THEY FAIL AGAIN.
